My friend and i stayed in mana lagoon for 2 nights and it was the perfect introduction to the fiji islands! It was right on the beach and offered amazing activities. Jim made the stay unforgettable giving us a tour around the island, collecting coconuts to drink, preparing a cava ceremony and more!! The only problem was the heat of the rooms at night but as Irish and English travellers i think that’s on us and not them. The family are lovely and the food is delicious. Can’t say enough about this place definitely recommend!

I'm struggeling with bad reviews, but I hope it is taken as a reason for improvement... I really liked some of the staff. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place overall. It may be that the island is beautiful, but when the series Survivor is shooted (which is the case at least 6 months a year!), the entire island is closed and you can only move along the approx. 200 m long beach...which btw is not the most beautiful in Fiji either (much littering). A feeling of being locked up. Unfortunately, the activities offered by the hostel are not cheap and rather tightly timed. I had the feeling of being more of a cash machine. I would recommend the hostel to give the guests more time e.g. a whole day on Cast Away Island instead of just going there, taking photos and back (120 FJD). On the 2 nights I stayed there, there was partying late into the night with very loud music, 1 night it seemed like the whole village gathered in the hostel and loud music was played until 6 am. Unfortunately, I didn't really get much sleep during the 2 nights, which of course affected my mood during the day. I think the stuff is not aware of this or just don't care...at least no one apologized the next day. So here's a recommendation to the hostel: partying and music is fine, but please introduce quiet times for the guests who would like to sleep! One positive point: Mika's cooking was delicious and the portions were good. To summarize, there is definitely room for improvement (and please do so!). Myself would not come here again and would rather enjoy one or more of the other wonderful islands and homestays.

When we arrived after a long boat ride, we were greeted by a man who seemed to be unorganised and rather rude and impatient. The “hostel” is the community hall for the local village with dorm rooms off of the hall. The dorms are less than basic, for sure not worth the price. Not to mention the shared bathroom/shower is filthy and smelly. The place is ran by mainly young men who seem to enjoy flirting and touching the female guests and are often seen coming in and out of the dorms/private rooms. Originally we were planning on spending three nights but after being kept up by loud music and partying (which went on till 6am) we decided to leave. All the male staff seem to be cocky, rude and egotistical. A couple of us were enjoying drinks outside but were hounded to come into the main hall to watch the entertainment, despite telling them we were happy to relaxing outside. It was soon clear that they wanted to video us watching the entertainment for their social media/website. In fact, the whole night consisted of having cameras put in our face, without any consent or explanation being provided. This made us feel uncomfortable and as though they were orchestrating a fake atmosphere in order to make it look like this is a nice and fun place to be. Lastly, the whole island is closed off as they are shooting an American series. This means you are limited to the hostel or the small stretch of beach. It is possible to snorkel on the beach, however the amount of boats passing every couple of minutes makes it dangerous and not enjoyable. In addition, the beach is dirty with litter. I will say the food is good and portions are plentiful. Beers are $13 and water is $6; the most i’ve paid, even in nice resorts, it was no where near this much.

All the people who work there are wonderful, very concerned about their guests, they cooked us delicious food in an incredibly beautiful place. I am very grateful for the love they gave me and I'll never forget the music when I arrived and when I left, and the traditional dance of the guys was something very special and I didn't expect. The beaches are beautiful and quiet, the sunset on a hike that is very close and seeing the culture in the village, made my welcome to Fiji unforgettable. Thank you for everything and I hope to return soon. You will always be in my heart.

Best hostel we’ve ever stayed at. Such a beautiful location. The food is amazing, traditional, and you definitely won’t go hungry. Activities on every day and night so you get a real taste of Fijian culture. The people are so nice and welcoming. There is no wifi so maybe get a SIM card before you go if you want data. Electricity is on overnight so you can have a fan on when you sleep.

I was disappointed. The guys who sold us trip to Mana island booked this place. We definitely paid way to much for what we got. Rooms are very basic, very hot inside. Local people would party in common area every night until morning so we couldn’t sleep. Also, if you are girl don’t go there alone!! Local youth tried to break in dorms where our friend slept alone…The only good thing was delicious food. Good portions. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Scammers and disrespectful. If you don't want to feel cheated, don't go. Most of Mana Island is closed because they are filming an American reality show, so you can only access one beach, which is quite dirty and full of algae. Obviously, they don't tell you until you get to the island and you have no escape. As compensation they offer the free sunrise/sunset tour, but even if you ask for it, they never do it, they always look for some excuse. The quality of the food is very poor. Finally, at night you won't be able to sleep because they play the music very loudly until 4am, even if there are no hostel guests enjoying it. The hostel workers and the people of the village enjoy the party and drink until late. No one in charge of the hostel cares about whether the guests can sleep or not. Don't expect big parties here, the hostel is always empty.

Lovely spot with great food! They served freshly caught marlin etc. Thin matresses but still had a good sleep. Very freindly and helpful staff. Sadly the reef in front of the lagoon was nearly dead, not much to see there and half of the island was not accessable because of schoolies. The beach in the other side of the island offers great snorkeling and plenty of coconuts

If you're only after a beach hut...then this is your place. However, basic room with cold water, bed and that's it! The stars come from the location and reasonable service and fellow travellers. Just be careful of a change in prices.

It's like walking in to one big open family, i loved it here. They even taught me how to climb a coconut tree. If you have the chance to go here, definitely do. Much love to big boss aswell.
