We had a great experience at Valmeekam during our 3 day trip at Wayanad. The place has a huge variety of trees, flowers, birds. It is great for a nature retreat, far away from towns, amidst the beautiful forest. The host, Mr. Sreehari, helped us out with everything we needed, showed us around and made sure we had a fun stay. The authentic Kerala food cooked by Sreeja was delicious.

If you want to find yourself head to this place . A place that helps to dive within to discover one's own self , far from the crowds sitting pretty amidst lush greenery Valmeekam is truly a place to unwind, rediscover, rejuvenate and recharge. Sreehari the man behind is in every tiny corner of this place . As you enter through the gate you can't help but notice the great lengths someone has painstakingly gone to select , nurture and maintain a fantastic garden . The foliage is so dense and there are so many rare plants. The accomodation is an old 90 year old house carefully restored just the way it would have been built almost a century ago with mud and burnt bricks filled with all the knick knacks of a bygone era. The place can comfortably sleep 6 but can be pushed to 10 with additional mattresses. The open air washroom is a must do and bathing amidst green foliage and under the sky feels liberating. The food served is pure authentic Kerala food with a big spread for every meal. Infact I asked Sreehari if this is standard Kerala home style spread. The food is simply devine made with the freshest local ingredients and cooked with alot of love which would make you indulge in every meal ( leave the diet guilt at home ) . Coming to the main reason for my long review and repeated visit is Sreehari who is so passionate about everything at his place. You can see it in every plant, every water body , room decor, artifacts sourced and collected, the linen from the sheets to the towels , the little details like camphor and sambrani scented linen , menu , quality of food ingredients etc etc the list is endless speaks alot about someone so passionately running this place . All the best and look forward to coming in soon Kids would love to play with the indigenous cow Devika and the wolf like friendly dog Bisky .

Shreehari's mudhouse was an amazing experience in the midst of the Malabar forest. We travelled as a family with a 4 year old.The mudhouse is very well maintained and clean, the bath linen and bed linen were changed daily without any compromise. The food cooked by Shreeja and Shreehari himself was delicious to say the least. The evening chats with Shreehari while he spruced up some yum food were truly memorable. They accommodated all our requests and also the driver referenced through them was amazing! We had a very authentic Kerala experience staying at the Mudhouse and would like to come again. Special mention of Shreeja, Joseph and Gopal for such warm hospitality.

Valmeekam has been one of the best offbeat stays I have been to. The journey to that secluded place is also an amazing experience. The stay was amazing, the host was professional and the caretakers were extremely friendly and felt we were in home. I would highly recommend those who want to escape from the city madness and want to have a calm and peaceful stay.

We were a family of 4 and spent 2 nights at Valmeekam in early August 2023. It was a wonderful experience, to say the least. It’s an excellent place to spend in quiet contemplation among other lovely things. All you see is nature up close and personal. All you hear is the chirping of birds and the chatter of insects. You could be mistaken for believing you’re inside a deep forest all by yourself. The rains were a great ally and elevated our overall experience. Sreehari was the epitome of hospitality; he ensured that our stay was comfortable every step of the way. He was extremely flexible and caring in his approach. We enjoyed our conversations with him on varied topics. The mud house is extremely well designed and creatively laid out. We loved the natural lighting and all the traditional elements that were the basis of the entire property. Rooms are extremely comfortable and cosy. The sit-out is the highlight of the property and serves as the best space for engaging family conversations and romancing the rains. The cuisine is quintessentially Kerala and we loved it. It fits very well with the overall traditional elements of the entire space. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and were always looking forward to what was coming in our next one! In summary the facilities are excellent, the host most hospitable and the overall experience unforgettable. Waiting to be back sometime soon!

IF you are looking for an authentic, traditional Kerala mudhouse experience, this is it! A 90 year old house fully refurbished & renovated into a cute & cosy Mudhouse experience! This is certainly NOT for people who are looking for a normal hotel stay OR those seeking glitz, glamour... It is for those discerning travellers seeking solace, peace, calm, a "back to nature" experience amidst amazing greens & nature all around! The bathrooms are clean, the linen & towels very clean and well appointed. The bedrooms are very cosy and are almost like the Cave rooms that you get in Cappadocia, Turkey. Being a mudhouse, the rooms are NOT expansive and large. But, it is well appointed and you get a true ethnic village holiday experience. The food was absolutely awesome, prepared primarily with LOVE & PASSION! The host himself - Srihari goes out of his way to cook some incredible delicacies for you and along with his team - Sreeja & Jose, they do everything possible to delight you!
