I visited this place on Monday night, still the place was crowded and you have to wait for a table. Food was worth the wait, Soft porotta and beef roast+fry was nice. Price is also affordable. Parking facility is not available, you may find it difficult to park If you are coming in car.

Super tasty n very cheap...Mostly crowded & seating is available for 30-40 Pax Only. Please do understand that, this is just a Nadan Local eat out place.Not at all an option for those looking for ambience, seating comfort, hifi Dining etc. ബാലേട്ടൻ്റെ കട is famous for Mutton Chaps, Beef Roast/fry, Chkn fry etc. They have Nool Puttu, Mani Puttu, Rice Puttu, Nool Appom,, Square Porotta, tea, koffe etc. 2 person can have full fledge (Mutton + Chk/Beef +Appom etc) dine at Rs. 250-300 Range. Now they accept Paytm/UPI etc...Which was not available until last year. Go for it...Balettan n Team won't disappoint a True Foodie

One of the Best Shops you could visit at Mattanchery. Ente mone. Poli food at affordable rates. This is the second time I'm visiting Balan Chettante Kada with my Friends. Tummy Filling Food at affordable Price. This time we had 21 Porotta + 2 mutton Curry + 4 black tea. Last time we had around 15 Porotta and 2 beef fry. Yummy taste, a small shop , huge rush for seats. Fresh food, fast serving. For breakfast you get beef fry/roast at 5:30am. And by 8:30am time you get mutton Curry. Evening you get beef fry/curry etc. You get Egg curry, Kadala curry etc too..

Only few food items serves here. And it's really better than good. Porotta, ediyappam, mani puttu. the main curry for these items is thick beef gravy. I've never tasted anything like these gravy in any other restaurants with porotta. So thick. And beef fry beef roast are medium spicy.ive ordered porotta, appam and beef fry. Porotta was so soft. It's square shaped porotta. we ate 6 porotta and appam 1 beef fry it only costs 160 rs . And the gravy is full of rich flavours. So nicest porotta I've ever had. usually it's crowded all the time. And very small place. parking in these area is pretty difficult

A typical kerala style restaurant. Giving the old classic vibes of kerala tea stalls , Balan chettans kada serves their famous square porotta and the best pairing to that is the mutton chaps. When i had visited the mutton chaps was over which shows the high demand of the dish. So i had some typical kerala style beef roast to go along with the porotta. Talking about the porotta , it is much fluffier than a normal porotta but lacks the layers to that of a typical kerala porotta , but tastes just like any other porotta. Now the beef was slow cooked and had a non over powering masala coated over it and roasted to perfection. The beef is definitely a match made in heaven with the porotta. Ordered some chicken fry as well, but it wasn't hot and lacked any sort of Masala making it a failure...but the beef and porotta definitely did stand out. I would definitely want to try the mutton chaps next cos the beef and porotta eventhough was amazing seemed pretty ordinary and is available in many places. Hoping to get the mutton chaps next time. For those who are looking for an affordable place with some typical kerala tea shop vibes do try our Balan chettans kada. And please carry cash cos they don't have any online mode of transactions sticking to the old style. Those who visit this shop definitely should try the the avocado shake from ambedkar coolbar next door.

Highly recommended place! Limited menu and seating but the food tasted really good. Speedy service. Both Mutton chaps and Beef roast tasted excellent and will go well with square porotta.

One of the best shops in Mattanchery to have breakfast or dinner. Their square porotta and beef fry are a must-try. The chicken fry is also great. The tea is also something special. The free gravy they are giving with the poratta is also of good quality and very tasty. The rest of the menu is also good. I visited here more than three times, and all the time the taste and quality of the food were consistent. The hotel is always busy and has a limited number of seats, so sometimes you should wait to get a table.

Balanchettante kada... One of the best places in Mattancherry from where you could get delicious mutton curry and square shaped porotta. This is actually a tea shop. The steaming Mutton curry is top class and the meat is very tender and yummy. I would definitely recommend this place. Best time to visit, is morning hours from 7 30 am. NB: The water quality in that area is not good. I would recommend to keep a bottle of mineral water with you as mineral water is not available here.

If you are a non veg food lover, you should visit this hotel. Traditional old restaurant. They are providing kochi style non veg dishes. Must Try their SQUARE POROTTA, MUTTON CHAPS & BEEF items. No parking space. Preferable for breakfast.

The beef curry and square porotta was delicious. The items are fresh and hot. It's a small hotel and locating is a little bit difficult. A small restaurant with limited Menu but excellent taste.The space is too small but the service is good. Some times you have to wait to get the seats here. Beef Fry And Porootta Combo 🔥

We reached the hotel around 4 PM. So we ordered Porotta, Beef fry and Mutton chaps. Mutton chaps was tasty. The gravy that they served along with porotta was soo good. Beef fry was more of a gravy kind. Excellent place in mattanchery to eat porotta and beef fry. Their service is also good.

Guys believe me months by months past they’re getting worse on taste. Never graph on down. Ordered for beef fry, It’s buffalo 🦬 meat 🥩 they served. Didn’t expect from this hotel. People and youngsters were just having and gone crowded no idea what’s happening what’s so special on it nowadays. Very simple It’s not good food, their name lost.

Square Kerala Porata, Mani Puttu, Idiappam, Beef Roast, Beef fry and mutton chaps are their signature dishes. All these items are awesome and must try. They also have chicken fry and kadala fry. Parking availability is not available, hence the better option is to park the first available option (within 500m) and walk.

One of the best shops in Kochi to have breakfast. Square porotta and mutton chaps should be a must try dish when you visit. It was really good and is worth the hype. Only problem is difficulty to find parking. You might find some space at nearby Jain temple road; even though you have to walk a little bit, it's totally worth it.

Balan Chettante Kada, Hotel City star is located at Mattanchery, near Gujrathi Road and Hotel Nooriya (which is famous for 'Erachi Choru'). This hotel came to prominence through the videos of vloggers. Dining space is limited. Parking space not at all available. The hotel is well known for their square shaped Porotta, Mutton Curry and Chicken fry. There would be enormous rush at Morning. When I entered there at noon time, there was not that much rush. I had ordered square Porotta and Mutton Curry. Porotta was fluffy and thin layered. But, Mutton curry didn't meet my expectation. However, the gravy was good.

Must try "Porotta and Mutton" or "Porotta and eef curry" it was 💥. Porotta and Mutton is the main item to be tried from here, it will be only available between 7-9AM. Best Nadan local eat out place in kochi. It's very popular there. I bet you, It will porotta will be softest porotta you'd. Also the price is Cheapest, I ate 3 porotta, beef curry and a tea, It cost only rupees 110. I've also tried Maniputtu, Idiappam, Chicken fry etc and all of them was just nice in taste.
