Went for a run then came for breakfast here. Very beautiful space, open to the green of Karura Forest. It’s filled with families who have also come from the forest. The breakfast was good and the coffee was great too. It was an easy place to be with great atmosphere

What I don’t like: N/A What could be better: More gluten free options. However this is not a knock on the place. Kenya is t quite there as yet when it comes to gluten free options. For me GF isn’t a fad, it’s a necessity due to celiac. Overall: I’ve come back to this place many times. ESP after a nice walk through the forest. Will definitely come back here again. The cafe closes relatively early at 6 pm, so do get there in time. There's good parking nearby (charged as part of entrance fee into Karura Forest Reserve) The service is great, coffee's good too. There's some vegetarian options on the menu as well.

This place is no afterthought as cafes inside parks often are as they have no competition and people are hungry and thirsty in the middle of the forest. The place is beautiful and the menu has great variety. The Caesar salad I had and the lemon aioli served with my husband’s potatoes were perhaps the best I’ve ever had. The best thing about this restaurant is the ambience. Fact that it is inside a protected Forest, sorrounded by greenery. The service is good, food is normal/good, just like any other place. Basically what you're paying for is the location and the beautiful greenery sorrounding it. Definitely worth a try.

The most beautiful setting for a restuarant in Nairobi. Located inside the lush Karura forest. River Cafe has a limited menu that changes seasonally. The food is of good quality and tasty. The view of the gorgeous forest is simply the highlight of River Cafe. There is plenty of parking space but one needs to pay an entry to get inside the Karura Forest. There are clean toilets and also plenty of space for children to play. No wonder the cafe is full of families over the weekends and holidays.

Beautiful semi-outdoor setting, surrounded by trees with a fresh breeze blowing through. The food and drinks were really delicious, exceeded expectations. Service was friendly and pretty fast despite it being packed. It is worth it to make a trip of eating here and exploring some of the trails through the forest.

There is nothing more refreshing than a cold drink after two hours of biking. What makes it even more superb is that you are drinking it next to a great nature view of one of the Nairobi's largest forest, Karura Forest. The River Café has the most beautiful set up with its open restaurant concept, decorated with a woody touch. They have great art within the restaurant. The surrounding nature adds to it beauty. The service is satisfactory as the type of meal or drink you order will be served depending with how much time it takes to prepare. Their dishes are well prepared and definitely mouthwatering. They sell both non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, only depending on the kind of poison you pick. Their washrooms are well kept and very clean. They also have WiFi reception. It's a good place to dine with friends and family as it has enough space for children to play at. The nature scenery is the main attraction.

It has all types of meals and of good quality,, services are effective and good management is available. I love to revisit the place.. I enjoyed the time there...

One thing that actually motivates me to walk in Karura is that I will get to eat a plate of fries,burgers and milk shakes from this cafe. Since I discovered this place I find myself revisiting Karura every weekend for a walk, book reading, the serene environment, and the fries 🍟 from this cafe. I got my order quickly. Sorry I didn't get to take photos of my food 🥺🥺I was so hungry 😹😹😹. Anyway next time I will. You all need to visit this cafe. I will always give you a 5 star rating.

We have visited this place on a few occasions. And each time we have received a friendly welcome and always found a table. It is very busy throughout the day but if you want a table? Avoid the obvious busier times, lunch, dinner.... "simples". They have wheelchair access and ramps. A kids play area (next to the crocodile 🐊) .. (a metal one 😨). They serve great food, cold beers, hot drinks. You can smoke 🚬 here too, without breaking the rules.(designated area with tables and seats). If you are lucky, you will see some monkeys passing through the trees and on to the roof of the Café. We were there at 17:20 when the Monkeys 🐒 came through. Good photo opportunity 📸 for you young David Bailey's (Google him). There are also toilets & hand wash facilities. Plus Covid Protocol. Masks to enter, hand wash station (tip: use the pedal). Oh 1 more thing...there isn't always a River, Brooke, stream, burn or trickle at the side..🤷‍♂️. Enjoy !

Love the location since you can go on a walk then stop by and eat and drink. The seating area is nice with a nice view. Ordered the fish fingers which were nice but the fries were a bit off and could have used some vegetables on the plate for that price. Enjoyed the cocktails which were great for everyone who ordered. After a two hour walk in the beautiful Karura Forest Preserve buddha the dog and I sat down for a nice meal at The River Cafe. I ate the lentil soup, average good, and the veggie burger, a bit too mushy to be considered a burger. Overall it was tasty. Buddha liked the chips best and I really enjoyed a well earned Tusker beer 😋 Our waiter was excellent. The service is 5-star. The view is as well. VAT or restaurant tax is added I added a 20% tip and spent $3200 KSH for lunch for one person.

The River Cafe is one of the more interesting places I've been to, simply because I wasn't aware it existed before I saw the signs. Once I saw the signs I decided to visit it and try their food out. They use a QR code menu which is perfect for the corona era. The ambience is wonderful and the view is one of a kind. However, the food is bland. It's not bad it's not good, it's just there. Their chefs are pretty uninspired for the price they charge. I'd go back for the atmosphere but not the food.

I felt discriminated against where one of the waitress had the audacity to tell me that I only had 1.5 hour to finish my meal and leave.
