Came here to learn more about the different tribes and cultures of Kenya. First watched the traditional dance show and then went for a walk to see the different homesteads. It was a great experience.

The history of how Africans lived is not well portrayed. Don’t go thinking that what you saw is exactly how the tribes lived. The place needs to find more innovative shows/activities/ to exhibit. The old dances, acrobats and huts is becoming boring It looks like the management is not keen on improving the state of Bomas. The place occupies a large piece of land for a few huts and some dances in the auditorium.

A wonderful experience! For $20 you can come any day of the week to see their open air museum with houses that represent the different tribes of Kenya. We came on a Sunday afternoon and there was only a small group of school girls. It's incredible how big the place is and each area has a clear description of the way the houses are built and information about the tribe. We really enjoyed our time here. In addition, they also have a show every day with dances/songs from a handful of the tribes. There's a sign that explains the lineup. We both really enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to anyone who would like to learn more about the people of Kenya.

As the name suggest Bomas from the word Boma a Swahili name which means "Homestead" in English is a great reflections of the homesteads in Kenya. Give credit to Bomas of Kenya they have done a great in show casing the different homestead in Kenya. This is where our culture is preserved and kept. Very important factor in our society especially in this age where the whole world is one global village. This is a place you'll learn about all the important factors of all the traditions and cultures of all the tribes in our country Kenya . It's always a pleasure visiting the bomas of Kenya and taking a walk through the different homesteads showcased . Keep up with the good job .

About 10 kilometers from Nairobi, Bomas of Kenya is a living museum celebrating the colorful tribes of Kenya. This is a great place to learn about the lifestyle, art, music, crafts, and culture of each tribe. The complex encompasses a recreated traditional village with homesteads or bomas, each one reflecting the culture of a major ethnic group. Every afternoon, a team performs traditional dances and songs in the large theater. Audience participation makes the performances even more enjoyable.

My first visit to this place despite being a Kenyan lol. The entertainment arena was just out of the world. Some good change from all the normal malls and outings. Pictures being posted. Check it out.

Oh, to experience culture. Bomas is literally the place that tells you about the different cultures of Kenya, their architecture, artifacts, music and dances. It's a serene environment. The staff are so friendly. You get to enjoy dances performed from different cultures and get to learn and appreciate culture. Also there's a restaurant that does order to cook for your preferred delicacies.

I enjoyed feeding the giraffes and feeling their rough tongues. I also enjoyed the nature trail and the scenery is perfect for photos. I however feel that there should be more to do at the giraffe center. It felt insufficient.

I came here on December 1, 23 during Kenya Youth Organisation, KYO Launching ceremony. It's quite an historic facility, with good and valuable cultural wealth, main hall and several grounds, for playing and party events. 🥳 A nice place on that outside near the gate and the bushes looks shaggy and natural.

The Great thing about Giraffe center is this is a rescue and breeding place to preserve the Giraffes. They are not harmed or doing tricks for folks. You can feed them and caress them up close.

This place is fantastic. We first toured around the traditional Kenyan Tribal Villages with our tour guide Diba Ali. He made the tour fantastic. He was thoroughly versed in Kenyan Tradition and made the visit very educational. I didn’t expect to learn so much from this visit. Then we went to see traditional Kenyan tribal dances, and they were also superb. There is also a traditional Kenyan restaurant, but we didn’t have time to visit it. This is a must visit in Nairobi.

The dancing show starts at 5:30pm and it lasts for a couple of hours with one break of 10mins. Bomas are at the back of the place and they are much bigger than I expected them! They are organised as one household with hedges separating them, very nice! There is more than 30 of them so be sure to take at least two hours if you want to check them out in detail. As you go back to the auditorium, you go across a small marketplace with handicrafts! There is also a restaurant. When buying for the tickets for the show, be sure to ask for them according to your status in the country since they automatically give you the highest fare if foreigner. We ended up paying more than a double, which was a bad experience.

A must in Nairobi. Tons of culture, great performances, neat organisation. The performances take place from 230 pm to 4pm (see pictures), after which you get to see the villages. There is a gift shop at the end that, trust me, is worth it, as the base prices to bargain are not that high compared to, for instance, the massai market.

Great place to know about the many tribes in Kenya. If you can visit with a local it's better and don't miss the traditional dances at 2:30. If you plan your trip you have plenty of time. The place is very beautiful and green too with kind staff and a huge parking lot.

Fantastic performance of traditional dances that started on time. Come early to look at the Masai exhibition before show starts. FYI it is quite muddy there and you can also buy souvenirs. Can buy drinks and snacks inside the venue. You can also join dancers on stage.

Very nice to see the different villages of the tribes. Just the show we missed. Very kind guides! A very big thank you to the security guy Geoffrey, who was able to retrieve a lost phone!

2nd time coming here, and the kids loved it. Feeding the giraffes is always a wonderful past time. They have time slots allocated throughout the day to allow social distancing, and this also gives enough time and space for gusts to feed the giraffes. Last time we were here, we really had to squeeze through a large crowd to get to take pictures. We were also allowed to have our picnic here and it was a wonderful experience.

A great place to spend time with your loved ones. Access is a bit difficult due to the rough roads. So, if you are not driving, it would be wise to arrange some mode of transport beforehand. We had some difficulties when leaving, especially since it started raining later in the evening. One of their staff, James, was helpful though. He organized for a car to come pick us up. Also, the place has 2 entrance points. We took the back route when getting there. So, from here, you have to access the place by crossing through the suspended bridge. If you have a phobia for heights, then get ready to scream your lungs out. It worth trying though, all that adrenaline rush! There are numerous activities. From swimming to glass blowing and pottery. Unfortunately, we were asked to pay more money to see the glass blowing though we have paid at the entrance. We just got to see the pottery bit. Their items are a bit pricey though, but very beautiful and unique for decor- both indoor and outdoor. I also got some glass beads for my hair. The ambience and the views are magnificent. They also have some cottages, with very excellent views and close to the pool. Hoping to go back soon.

We had the most amazing experience at Bomas of Kenya. We saw a culture show where they had several Kenyan tribes perform dance, singing, and music program. We were able to eat authentic vegetarian Kenyan food at their restaurant. Seeing all the various types of villages of their tribes was also a unique experience. In addition, we were able to purchase some traditional Kenyan ornaments, jewelry, and clothing from the tribal people's stalls over there.

Fine. A lot of recreations of traditional housing of Kenyan tribes. Dance and instrumental show was good, about 1.5 hours long. Highlight was when the school children in the audience joined in at the end. Seats in auditorium were kinda gross dirty. Signage in hut area was spotty in places.

The best thing we did in Nairobi! The diversity of the country comes to life at Bomas of Kenya!!! The place is beautifully done and we loved the fact that there were no shortcuts taken for making the tribal houses. The whole experience provides a window into the life of the 42 different tribes and their culture. Our guide was very thorough in explaining the houses and even the famous people from these tribes. The culture show at the arena however, deserves a special mention. The dancers seemed to be fueled by air!!! They danced for the entire hour and a half and even pulled us into it! 😊 It was an enjoyable experience and I heavily recommend spending around 3-4 hours. The culture show is at 2:30 pm on weekdays, so go a bit ahead of time to look at all the Bomas and to shop 😄

You need to have loads of energy to do all the rounds here. It was intriguing going from homestead to homestead and seeing how the families used to be set up. The restaurant on site has some great food and calm seating too. I enjoyed the cultural displays quite a bit too. Nothing that fancy, just enough to see the various dances of different cultures in Kenya. The souvenir shops had very friendly attendants even though everyone was trying to get you to buy from them. I didn’t get to see all 44 or so homesteads cause I run out of energy. 😁😁

The Giraffe Centre in Nairobi is made up of 2 segments-the giraffe interaction /feeding, and a beautiful nature trail that one can explore at their own leisure. The centre is a great way of making conservation and education accessible to help preserve, and continue to grow, the dwindling Rothschild species in Kenya. Highly recommend if you would like an up close view of these spectacular creatures and contribute toward community biodiversity education!

  • 5/5 Noemy P. 3 years ago on Google
Our experience at the giraffe center was amazing. Mourice was an very good guide. He told us a lot about the giraffes and the mission of the center. We also went on a walk in the trails where he explained to us all the proprieties of the plants and also a little bit of history about the creation of the center. It’s a 10$ very well invested. Even if I want on a safari, the experience at the center is not to same because you get to pet, fed and be very close to the beautiful giraffes. If you are in Nairobi, it’s a amazing day trip. It’s about 30 minutes drive from Nairobi center in a Uber.

There's also a nature trail next door that is pretty neat with lots of birds and trees. Would recommend to anyone looking for a plan in Nairobi.

Its always a breathtaking to be upclose with the majestic giraffes. Having been there severally, you connect and learn from the giraffe family. It was sad to return and find the older giraffes passed away😥. Good tip is to always ask if you can suggest a name for the new baby giraffes on the way. Watch out for Daisy she can head butt you when she's a bit moody 😆.

Amazing place and definitely recommended. They treat the animals in a very good way, provide background information, and you are able to feed them with a restricted amount of animal food. Definitely go to place once you're in Nairobi. It's small though and you'll be done within an hour.

(Translated by Google) Awesome place and very friendly staff. Entry for foreigners costs KSh 1,500, which may be a little expensive but definitely worth it. Payment due to covid only by bank cards, but when a problem arose due to the fact that I only had cash, the staff quickly found the person who paid for me, and I gave the cash. In the park itself, there are many giraffes (and if you are lucky you will see warthogs) which you can feed, very interesting animals. Food is given free of charge, upon request, the staff will photograph you or shoot a video. There is a mini museum and a playground to watch animals at the level of their heads. Getting there by bus is not difficult, there is a world-famous hotel with giraffes nearby, and a nursery for elephants nearby (it was closed due to quarantine).

From the floors to the view, the lovely workshop and friendly staff, this place was wonderful. every nook and cranny is filled with something created by the iconic Kitengela glass. Definitely worth a visit. There's a pool with a gorgeous view of the quintessential Kenyan Savannah landscape, plus a restaurant (which I never visited sadly!) Will be back soon. They have cottages that can help you know about our ancestors and how they used to live. In the afternoon at 3pm, troops usually come in to sing traditional Kenyan songs. I would recommend tourists to visit this place. The place has a restaurant that offers food at an affordable price. It is an excellent place to tour and know they Kenyan heritage.

It is an interesting site that you can visit alone or with a guide. It allows you to see how different Kenyan people built their villages and make lots of consideration about the differences and similarities. I would have appreciated an indication of the scale because the huts are very small and I constantly questioned if people could live like that. In the case of the Samburu people I can testify that they live in those huts. As a tip, I suggest checking the availability of shows due to the covid regulation.. Another tip is to get ready to the mini market of people who will sell you souvenirs.

Ideal place for families, private, public and business functions or simply just going out. For me it was nothing special. It is interesting to see how the indigenous tribes used to live but the homesteads were very similar to one another and there's not so much information. The restaurant which is close by is nothing special as well. I had a juice and a coffee for 650 KSH, the juice was not fresh but bought from a super market and the coffee was instant coffee. Didn't try the food so can't say much about the food. They do have traditional dances but didn't stay until 2:30 pm. The entrance fee is 1000 KSH for visitors (non-residentd)

Was a great place to visit to learn more about the Bomas, we went before we went on the safari and we felt it was good to learn about it and gave us more of an insight into what you can see from the road. Staff were great and the dance performance is totally worth it for 1000 Shillings.

An absolute must visit if you're in Nairobi. Every day they have cultural performance of dances and musics of various Kenyan tribes, along with acrobatic shows. Each and every second of it is absolutely thrilling. Although, do try to visit on a weekend when you have tourists as well as locals - so the theatre is a bit full. A request - do carry some change - you never know when you'll need it. After the performance, you get a guide to walk you through the homesteads of the tribes - which is how some of them live even today.
