๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ A very nice restaurant to eat west African dishes mainly Ghanaian and Nigerian. Food is tasty and portions are great (for those with capacity to consume more). Prices are reasonable for the great service they provide far away from the typical chop bar or buka. People often mention service, good, Great, nice, African, restaurant, great, West, fried, delicious,

Visited Mama Ashanti with my husband for some Nigerian food and enjoyed the food. We ordered the fish pepper soup, the Jollof rice and I think the chicken fried rice. The pepper soup was a bit different from what I'm used to but was nice and hot. The Jollof was also good however it had a strong tomato base. So if you like your food peppery or spicy, make it known while placing your order. The chicken fried rice tasted nice and came with a lot of onions in it. If that is something you may not like, also request for the chef to hold the onions while making your order. All in all, would definitely visit again.

An amazing place to chill out as a couple or friends. So silent though they play rnb music in the background but it is still conducive to have conversations. The staff are so warm. We were served by Martha, a courteous and jovial lady. She went all her out to make sure we enjoyed the evening. The delicacies are well cooked, if you don't enjoy spiced food let them know because most of their foods are spiced.

Beautiful scenery.. it's like 'West Africa' in East Africa. There are indoor and outdoor eating areas. And the outdoor area is literally a garden (a well lit garden at night).. you could rent a space for a birthday party or just hangout with family. There's a play area for kids too.

Great delicious food! It was up to expectation. I however did not get my dish because it was unavailable at the time of my visit. The kids made good use of the playground. Lot of space and place to sit and enjoy indoors or outdoors. Restroom well kept. Recommended!

Great eatery in the Lavington area. Well priced. Ambient environment. Good service by staff. Ample parking. Drinks variety on offer. Portions could use a little increment though for this otherwise median price points. Light background music except on Fridays when there's a live band. Recommended.

Nice terrace restaurant, could improve some more on food quality. We were there with my wife for her office send off lunch , they chose it because of the terrace restaurant and for Ghanaian food. But the food was all dry no stew (rice, fish, goat, chicken, Jollof all dry). I also don't think it was Ghanaian, Jollof is Nigerian and still wasn't upto my expectations. Secondly the lady waiter insisted on serving the guests herself controlled portions so you couldn't choose what you preferred. But I love the setup all the same. Thank you

I first had take out from Mama Ashanti and promised myself to go have a dine-in experience. First off the food is worth every darn pretty penny. Hands down the most authentic West African food I have had! Second, they have best waitstaff I have ever encountered in East Africa. Third, the ambience is so mellow. Only downside is the limited parking space. Well, nothing much can be done about that. So consider taking a cab to and from.

Good food and good service. It gets crowded over the weekend and some food items take a long-time to be ready. We ordered the chicken in peanut sauce with pounded yam. We also ordered whole fried tilapia with ugali and spinach. Will definitely return.

Such a serene and beautiful restaurant. Ample parking, spacious and organized seating spaces. The food is delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ and the drinks tasty and cold as your ex's heart. Service is quick and exceptional and the menu has a variety of items at a cost which, in my opinion is quite friendly. I focused on my meal and forgot to uhm take some photos. I'll be sure to take some next time.

Great food, lots of green (serene), nice kids play area, BUT 50% more expensive than similar restaurants in the neighborhood (Nyumbani, Mummy Dada, Treasure). Try the fried goat meat and pounded yam plus Zobo juice. Food for two plus one drink cost me $53, damn!

Horrible, horrible, horrible service! I sat for well over an hour without service. Waiters and waitresses kept passing by my table without a word. I finally flagged down a waitress who was busy rushing elsewhere and asked to get my meal to-go. That wasn't the plan. I meant to dine in. But after an hour+ of waiting in the cold, I opted for take away. I really hoped for a good experience but that wasn't the case. Please improve on your service!

Venue/Garden 4/5 Nice relaxing atmosphere Band 4/5 Nice music and great voice Food 2/5 Egusi was nice, Diced Chicken with fried rice was ๐Ÿคฎ disgusting, sorry but the rice was not even fried, it was boiled and watery Service/Management 0/5 Absolute disaster, waited 50 Minutes for drinks, no one taking our food order despite 4 staff standing around, no one felt responsible for our table. When waiter was informed that the fried rice was not fried but boiled, he started arguing with us and insisting the rice was fried. Really?? ๐Ÿ˜‚ I expect mote from this place. Online reservation request was never replied to, I guess getting customers is not a priority for this business

  • 4/5 Sabina A. 2 years ago on Google
Great African food. I particularly loved the Plantain and goat meat stew, as well as the milk shakes. The Egusi (Melon seed) soup was delicious but it was too dry when I tried it, they could improve it by adding a little water.

This was my first time in Nairobi with my sis and we needed to eat nice African meal and Mama Ashanti was recommended. The ambience was cool, coupled with the lovely weather. Beatrice the waiter attended to us was also very friendly and she recommended the signature "Ashsanti goat meat".We enjoyed every bit of the meal and also quite affordable.I forgot to mention the order came on time as we came in famished.

  • 4/5 Bonny M. 1 year ago on Google
This place has lots of outdoor space. It feels very relaxing and time flies by! Service is great and food did not take too long to prepare. Our server was happy to help us pick our meals since we weren't very familiar with West African cuisine. It was a nice experience. There are other options if that's not for you, so if you're in a group, everyone should be catered for.

  • 5/5 Law M. 1 year ago on Google
My favorite restaurant in Nairobi, Kenya. Although this cuisine is mainly west african cuisine, a good restaurant with good food is still a good restaurant with good food regardless where it is. Ive came here many times before. It always the first restaurant and last restaurant I visit when I visit nairobi. And already it's been a handful of times. Highly recommend!!

First time at Mama Ashanti, we were celebrating my son's 18th birthday. Had lovely food. Service was excellent, atmosphere peaceful. Food to look for Joloff rice and plantain. Goat meat and fish was also very good. Found the notice in the gents really funny. I definitely aimed really good.

The food and ambience was nice but the customer service was so bad. Especially when one female waitress brought me a drink I hadn't ordered and on raising the issue to her, She only offered her sorries and refused to exchange it with the appropriate drink. It was until later when I informed a different waitress that the issue was resolved and we got the right drink.

A friendly atmosphere with a variety of seating options. Children's playground. The food is very very good, especially the egusi soup. My only negative is our serving of chicken in groundnut sauce- a drum stick and the back carcass- for 2k+ ?!!

Good fried goat. Had a giant helping of plantains which were spot on. We were seated in one of their private meeting rooms and it was so comfortable. I really felt like we were having dinner at home. Great spot to eat.
