We are extremely happy to recommend Blue Crane Safaris to anyone travelling to Namibia. We chose their accommodated 11 Days Namibia Experience Tour from the 6th to 16th Sept 2019. From the initial days of booking the tour our contact Derek made sure to provide detailed tour information, answered all of our questions promptly, ensured all our requests were accommodated for, and ensured the payment process smooth and trouble free. We were picked up from our Hotel in Windhoek by our guide Sedney and over the next 11 days his knowledge and positive attitude made the trip very enjoyable. Every day involved some driving and he made sure that we had enough water, unrushed stops and made sure we saw all the points of interest along the way. The Namibian landscape is never boring and during the drives we found out so much about Namibian life and culture, the wildlife and landscape. Sedney was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour, it felt like a roadtrip with an old friend. He is also very well connected and knew someone in every stop. The Village Café in Swapkopmund is a must for lunch or just a coffee, the food is brilliant but the waitresses are hilarious, colourful and sassy, we went there twice. The accommodation throughout the trip was to a high standard and meals were covered as part of the package, this made things a lot easier and budget wise less hassle. We would definitely recommend paying a bit more and staying at the Desert Grace for that part of the journey – it was our favourite lodge during our tour – worth the extra dollars. And all the food in all the lodges was fantastic – we didn’t want for anything. Having Sedney as our guide meant that we could tailor the daily activities to our schedule and mix things up if necessary, for instance there’s no point doing a game drive at midday when all the wildlife are under shade. And speaking of wildlife – we definitely saw our share! Baboons, warthogs, giraffe, oryx, springbok, rhinos, elephants, elands, zebras, dik diks, leopards, cheetahs, lions….all amazing. Throughout the trip, the game drives were unbelievable, but Etosha was definitely a highlight. Blue Crane holds a special permit to enter and view West Etosha (something you won’t get elsewhere) and this part of the National Park was incredible! All the wildlife you could imagine…without all the tourists! This is exactly what we had envisioned with a safari…and again, with Sedney leading the way he ensured we got the most out of each game drive. Seeing a leopard in Etosha isn’t common – so having a guide that knew the park and the best places to look was invaluable. The wild Rhino tour was also amazing! Going out on a drive with a qualified rhino tracker was a bit scary – but was worth it as we successfully tracked and viewed a rhino in the wild! Again – the Namibian Safari was one of the best holidays we have ever had…and Blue Crane, Derek and especially Sedney made that happen. Definitely above and beyond our expectations! Highly recommend Blue Crane for your safari adventure…and request Sedney – you won’t be disappointed!!

We have just finished a self-drive tour of Namibia organised by Bluecrane Safaris. From start to finish, everything was perfect. We booked before the pandemic and had to move dates a couple of times, then once again for personal reasons. Nothing was too much trouble. Derek and his team took the time to answer all our questions, our route was great, accommodation lovely, and our vehicle was spot on. All the team were very friendly. Highly recommend!

The one and only for an awesome adventure. This year I had my third travel with them, and there was never a reason to be unhappy. Absolutely best service, professional guides, best tour offers.

Really a 5-star service provided by Eric and our guide Sammy, both are super nice and knowledgeable. We spent 11 days driving around with Sammy, without him this trip would not be enjoyable if I had to do all that he did and with no prior knowledge. Lodgings are ranked from over-the-top (first and last) to great to fine, again, we did not have to do anything, Eric did all the bookings etc. When we are back to Namibia, and we will be, I will certainly hire them again. Recommend 100%.

Both trip planing and execution were of a high level. Namibia is a wonderful place to discover and Blue Crane made sure we could enjoy this to the fullest. Our guide Markus made sure the planning Derek made was executed to perfection. The personal touch in many ways was much appreciated

Food and accommodation were beyond what we were expecting and really pretty great. The vehicle was comfortable and safe. The one thing I would call out is that I felt that the guide wasn’t a hugely jolly person to be around. It’s quite a People based job, being a good conversationalist, knowledgeable about the country, geology, history, culture, and excited to teach people about it is important. I’d say our guide, missed these things and was to be honest, not a great companion to spend five days eating every meal with.
