We booked the kayaking and desert combo with Red Dune Safaris and we had one of the best days on our trip through Namibia! We were a bit hesitant because of the price but it was worth every dollar. The day started with a fun and exciting encounter with the seals at Pelican Point. The kayaking is operated by Pelican Point Kayaking. SJ, our guide for the kayaking, was a super fun guy that provided many insights about Walvis Bay and its human and animal residents. In addition to the seals we also saw flamingos, pelicans and black-backed jackals. Make sure to wear some pants that dry fast because they might get wet depending on your paddling style. JP from Red Dune Safaris picked us up after the kayaking to take us to the dunes. He showed us the wild life in the dunes and did so with a lot of care and respect for the environment. We felt save riding on the great dunes with him. There were enough breaks to have a trunk or go to the bathroom. We especially enjoyed our conversations with him during the ride. While giving us informative facts about the desert, JP provided some context of the Namibian society and other environmental facts. In the middle of the tour we had a picknick in the middle of the dunes with great view and sparkling wine. The tour ended at a spectacular view point over Sandwich Harbour. Long story short: The tour is awesome. If you only have one day to spend in Walvis Bay take this tour. JP is the best guide you can ask for. He is smart, considerate and entertaining. Simply world class! JP Koch and his partner, Andre, who guided us on Sandwich Harbour were amazing. Starting from the booking stage, he clarified all enquiries and was prompt with communication. On the day of the tour, he was punctual and greeted us with an enthusiastic face. He explained what to expect on the tour before leaving and whenever we made a stop, he gave detailed information about points of interest and allowed time for pictures. The view at Sandwich Harbour is breathtaking and a must do. We had a picnic at the harbour under the desert heat but close to the ocean, the feeling is unexplainable. The guide showed us lots of desert animals like geckos, jackals, ostrich, Oryx and springbok before safely driving back to our pick up point. I highly recommend Red Dune Safaris.

We had our best trip in Namibia with JP this morning with our 2 kids. We did the photographer tour early morning in complete fog and started to wonder if we would have more luck later… the answer is yes, yes and yes! JP explained us so many things about that magical place and its inhabitants. Breakfast was delicious, views were breathtaking, memories will last forever. JP was very helpful with our questions and tight schedule and if you have any doubt, this trip totally worth the money, you won’t regret it. Definitely will come back soon and do it again. I did the afternoon photography tour that ends after sunset with Jacques. It was an incredible experience not only for photography but also for the drive through the dunes, the views, the flexibility, the discussions and last but not least the picnic prepared by Jacques' sister in law which was so yummy. JP is super friendly and took us in a great tour in the dunes, with a first stop next to the gigantic salt factory and its pink "lakes". We had an amazing afternoon with our guide, he made stops for nice photos everytime we needed, and it was nice to just talk about life in Namibia, and nature and animals surrounding Walvis Bay. We reached Sandwich Harbor and felt very lucky and overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. If you want some adrenaline, sit in the front of the car while JP drives down the very slopey dunes. Fantastic experience and a highlight if you stay near Walvis or Swakop. Thanks again JP!

I had a day trip including kayaking and Sandwich Harbour and I absolutely enjoyed it! We have spent plenty of time with the seals and have seen numerous flamingos. Sandwich Harbour was also exciting, we stopped at different viewpoints and had a chance to see a lot of different landscapes within Namib.
