I spent a month in Tate Village during my field research for my master thesis. My stay was over all positive. I met nice people and the accommodation was very clean. But there are things, you should be prepared for: sometimes things take waaay longer, than expected, which can be very frustrating. If you are not it your late teens/early twenties (or just used to live on your own) you might be surprised how many rules you have to follow. But taking into account the other accommodations for students in Windhoek I can recommend staying at Tate Village.

Soooooo I'll say this, the tate is fine if you're there for a few nights. But if you are staying there for a longer period of time, like most people, I think the tate is a 4/10. There are super many rules you have to follow there, sometimes it feels like you are living with your parents again. There are not enough dishes and cooking utensils in the kitchen for the number of people there. You always have to get everything together first and that is just totally annoying. I also find the separation of the predominantly German volunteers and the students from here in terms of rooms and corridors questionable. You don't go abroad to be separated from the locals. In addition, there is a rooftop bar that was open at totally strange times and then closes at 7/8 in the evening and was not accessible to the residents from time to time... so everything was very questionable. In addition, they had to move to other rooms every now and then, apparently because of the planning... I personally find this totally inappropriate and it doesn't give you the feeling that you are "at home". There are also a lot of cockroaches in the kitchen, of course this is also due to the fact that the cutlery is not washed, but chemicals or something similar would have to be used to combat them. Apart from the rooftop bar, which is open from time to time, there is not enough seating. And friends are only allowed to come over until 9pm. Considering that you will be staying there for a few months, this is not acceptable.

Excellent student accommodation that is walking distance from downtown. The staff members (bartender, cleaners) were always very friendly and attentive to the needs of guests. The property itself was very well-kept, and the rooftop patio area was excellent for watching sunsets and socializing. Overall, TaTe Village is an excellent choice for young people looking to stay in Windhoek for any period of time.

I stayed at TaTe during my exchange semester from August 2018-December 2018. Overall I had a great experience at TaTe village. The accomodation is really clean, the people that lived there were great and I had an amazing time. It's really safe and close to NUST University. Plus the sunsets from the upstairs kitchen are to die for!!! If you're not from Namibia/Africa get used to things being managed the african way, meaning that some things take longer than they would in Europe/Germany. The prices for the rooms are ok, although compared they seem expensive. During my stay all exchange students also had to order at least one meal per day from the catering service - the breakfast was mostly really good so I would opt for that. Please be advised that it might get loud during the weekends as its several students living together in one accomodation and most of them love to go out at nights! Always join them though - WHK nights are the best :) Taking into account the other accomodations for exchange students in Windhoek I can highly recommend staying at TaTe!

Good location. They are registered as backpacker's hostel with Namibia tourism board and have bunk beds in rooms ideally suitable for budget backpackers. This place was initially started it's business as student's accommodation.

I am disappointed with TaTeVillage. I was there for 4 days and paid by card. Their card reader reported an error twice, the third time it worked. Back home I noticed the 3x debit. After my request, money was transferred back to me after some time. TaTe Village kept 20 euros! Incredible!
