Everyone
visiting
Fiji
should
go
for
a
walk
through
these
markets.
IT
IS
SAFE.
Its
busy,
lots
of
locals,
noise
and
smells
...
But,
you'll
get
to
see
some
of
the
"real"
Fiji
rather
than
your
hotel,
resort
or
island
paradise.
I've
given
it
5
stars
for
its
authenticity,
and
educational
value.
It
costs
nothing
but
your
time
and
effort
to
go
for
a
walk
around
these
markets.
These
are
THE
local
markets
the
Fijian
people
use
to
buy
their
food
and
Kava.
One
shed
is
for
Kava,
the
other
is
fresh
food
and
produce.
Combined
these
sheds
cover
an
area
bigger
than
a
football
field.
The
locals
are
more
than
happy
to
answer
questions
and
tell
you
about
their
produce.
Some
really
interesting
items
to
both
learn
about
and
taste.
Just
remember
to
take
some
$1
and
$2
coins
so
you
can
pay
a
small
amount
to
try
some
of
the
fresh
fruits
and
vegetables.
The
pineapples
are
very
very
delicious!
If
you
then
want
even
more
local
experience,
go
out
the
back
of
the
markets
to
the
"bus
depot"
and
catch
a
local,
no
windows,
old
banger
bus.
It
will
cost
you
$1
to
go
to
the
airport,
or
$2
to
go
around
to
Lautoka.
Make
a
day
of
it
and
see
the
real
Fiji.
