Located at the Peerless Inn, Aaheli provides the best of East and West Bengal under one roof. The food is simply outstanding, right from 'Bheckti Paturi' to 'Chingri Bati Chorchori' to 'Postor Bora' or 'Shukto', anything that you try out there is par excellence. The 'Kosha Mangsho' is perhaps one of the best that you get in the city. The menu is very extensive and an easier way to go for it would be to order a 'Thali' which is available in 4 varieties in non-vegetarian and one variety in vegetarian. There is 'Ilish' available in one of the thalis round the year. Be prepared to burn a hole through your pocket since the food is extremely expensive.

Although the decor is a bit dated, the food was really delicious. We were a large crowd (12 of us) and the wait staff were very attentive and helpful at making recommendations and making sure everyone was served and attended to. I personally had the vegetable thali, which was excellent. The portions were generous and everything was tasty. Other people in the group ordered a variety of dishes - each was received well. No complaints at all. I'm not sure why, but they brought us a cake at the end of our dinner. We were full, so they were kind enough to divide the cake and pack it away for us and our guests to take home. The main thing that would have made the experience 5 stars would have been a tidied up and updated look for better atmosphere and ambiance.

I think it is 3 star hotel. It is situated in Dharmatala. The location of this hotel is very good but the parking area is as not big as we expect. The restaurant is (Aheli) too much expensive but dishes are very good . The Bengali cuisine is overall good in side. The area is well connected with kolkata.

Aaheli has been serving authentic Bengali cuisine for three decades and Durga Puja is that time of the year when our Chefs go all out to win the hearts of guests. For Durga Puja days Aaheli will have special Thalis served at all outlets, along with lip smacking a-la-carte items. Beyond this the new a la carte additions have Gobindoraj Bhetki fry, Mocha Chingrir bora, Kalyani begun, Palong bori, Chanar moulo, Bhetkir dom, Koi er Horogouri, Monihari Mangsho etc. 🌟 Bhuri Bhoj Thali at Peerless Hotel, Kolkata @ ₹2695 plus GST, at Sarat Bose Road @ ₹2195 plus GST Mahotsab Thali at Peerless Hotel, Kolkata @ ₹1695 plus GST, at Sarat Bose Road @ ₹1295 plus GST Bengali Buffet at Axis Mall @ ₹ 1399 plus GST

Based on our friend's recommendation, we visited this place and had Chitol Macher Muithha with pulao rice and Loochi Mangso. Manager Sanjeev is very helpful and patiently told us the food to try. We finished with delicious Mishti Doi. Food is great. This is a must visit place if you want to try nice Bengali food. I heard that their Bengali thaali is excellent. But we missed that.

This branch of Aajeli is hidden inside the Peerless hotel, so the google maps might misroute one. Albeit expensive, the quality of the food is great and the service top-notch. We had one person from USA in our group they took special care of her ensuring minimal spices, offering spoon etc. whenever required. The dhokar dalna was awesome as well as the daab chingri, special mention should be towards rui maach er patishapta.

In search of authentic Bengali food i went to aaheli , Lets come to the price directly because i think it was not worth it👎. The thali i had costed me around ₹3500 including gst. No doubt food was really authentic and had good proportion but there were very few items only. Taste was 10/10 but doesn’t comes closer to the cost of thali. Service was also not good, i don’t understand bengali so i was communicating in hindi but the women was replying in bengali which was tough for me to understand and i had to wait for so long for the bill whereas the place was fully empty. I stayed in oberoi but their food prices were reasonable but the thali i had here was truly not worth the price.

The famous restaurant for Authentic Bengali food. The thali is gigantic . I guess , one normal person can't finish this by own. Foods are okayish and over-priced. Non-veg thali cost us Rs. 2499+GST per head. The pieces of hilsha , prawn and mutton were not up to the mark. Hilsha pieces were not tasty , mutton was full of fat , prawn seemed to be frozen for many days. Veg items are also average. Bengali moms make better and tastier shukto , posto than these . In 'jhinge posto', we could not find enough 'posto' 😂 . It was like ' jhinge alu r torkari'.

Peerless Inn is a sought after property in Esplanade area and Aaheli is their gorgeous dining space. From MANGSHO DIYE CHOLAR DAAL, to GONDHORAJ MUTTON and CHINGRI MALAI, you can indulge in very popular Bengali dish. The Grand Pujor Mahabhoj showcases some of the rare and lesser-known recipes like TIL MOCHAR LOTIKA, CHITOL ER DHOKA, DHUMROGONDHI ILISH from the heartlands of Bengal. Dig into the ILISH CHOP, CHINGRI SHORSHE PALONG, BHETKIR MOUTTHA among others to kick off the festivities. The massive spread on offer (NON VEG/VEG)and the BHURIBHOJ THALI is here is endless. Sweets like CHOCOLATE MOUSSE SANDESH and MISHTI DOI round the meal off perfectly. Timings: Lunch and Dinner 6 October - 15 October Where: Aaheli, Peerless Inn; Aahlei, Axis Mall; Aaheli Express, Sarat Bose Road Happy Eating 😇

This is definitely one of the best restaurants which serves authentic Bengali cuisine. Ambience: A perfect Bengali setup. While most of the staffs wear Bengali apparel, the art and decor may not be easily attached with Bengal tradition. Hospitality: Based on their brand and price, hospitality is definitely below par. They don't take the initiative for customer delight. In fact they have to be poked enough for getting details of particular menu. Food: No doubt the taste is good, but does it worth the cost? Question arises for few of their marque dishes. Also it is very surprising that they have hardly any option for people who follow jain type of food. Overall it's good for non vegetarians but definitely over priced

Being from North India and almost inexperienced with Bengali cuisine, I went to this place with my fiancée as I have been hearing about it for quite sometime. We went there on a Monday afternoon so it was empty. They welcomed us with raw mango juice which was amazing. I dont consume Fish but when I had the boneless Ilish I understood why it is called the king of fishes. The dal , rice and the banana floret patties with red gravy was delicious as well. The service was great. Would recommend this place to everyone

The ambience was on point, but the food quality has deteriorated a lot since I last visited this place a couple of years back. The mutton was stale and the mouth refreshments were pest infested. Definitely not the quality we had expected after dishing out over 11k for three people.

Most delicious mouth watering Bhetki fish ever had. First time in Kolkata and the taste of fish or chicken in Bengali Thali lived till next day. The most remembered experience during West Bengal visit. Every item in Veg Thali from the aroma of rice to Sandesh was 10/10. We tried 1 Veg and 1 Non Veg Thali for Dinner. Although the cost is around 1500 per Thali yet DineOut offer saved us by 50% and turned the visit value for money.

I had heard about Aheli in many food blogs and shows, and had planned to visit when traveling to Kolkata. It was a very positive experience. We went there as a large group and so we booked ahead. When we reached, our table was ready. Service was excellent and special mention to Bipasha from restaurant staff, for great hospitality and being very patient with us while we figured out our orders. My attraction was Aheli's thali and that's what most of us ended up ordering. The spread was elaborate as I expected. I can't say that every single item on the plate was extraordinary but a few most definitely were. My favourite was the Dhokar Dalna from the vegetarian items and the Ilish from the non-vegetarian items. The sweet was also really good. A suggestion that's purely my opinion: The thalis can be shareable. Extra luchi and rice can be made chargeable if sharing. Being more price effective may be able to draw more volumes while reducing waste. Overall I highly recommend Aheli and will surely visit again when I am in town next.

We went for a family dinner with an elderly grandmother, so we were quite concerned about the safety, and Aheli didn't disappoint us. There are following all the safety protocol and safe distancing. We ordered the bengali dishes of our choices from the menu.Specially likes the bhetki paturi, chanar dalna, offcourse the mutton, and the showstopper was the rajbhog. I haven't had this soft rajbhog for a really long time. It Was literally melting in the mouth. I am not fond of sweets that much, but this Rajbhog I am definitely recommending if you are going ala carte in Aheli.

I am glad I decided to have dinner in this restaurant during our stay. We ordered a bengali thali and the food was to die for. The mishti doe, aloo posht and the fish was excellent. The ambiance was typical Bengali and I loved it. Service was exquisite. Would go again. The restaurant is within the hotel so within easy reach.

Two words.. Unexpectedly bad taste of food. I had a very high expectations from this restaurant, but i was amazed by the poor taste of those foods. The thali that we took costs us 2500/- plus taxes and trust me thats not even worth oc 799 or so. We took chicken gondharaj, chicken was there without gondharaj. Below average taste of food totally pissed me off. I don't even keep this restaurant in top 10 bengali restaurants in Kolkata. Exorbitant price with below average quality food. I was really dissatisfied and disappointed. They did not even have any welcome drink. Seriously Not recommended at all.

Review on À la carte menu: Food quality - Hygienic Quantity - Nice portions Taste - Mediocre at best, don't know what the hype is about Wait time - 30+ minutes Staff - Very courteous, polite Value for money - Absolutely NOT. Not when you're in Esplanade, Kolkata and there's literally 1000+ places serving better meals than this for 1/10th of the price.

Dined twice.bengali thali served in brass plate. Waiters dressed in traditional attire. Rabindra sangeet played by fluite. Kasha mangsho wasn't great. Chingri macher malaikary exceptional.

  • 2/5 Abhik V. 3 years ago on Google
Food was highly overpriced, but we expected an exceptionally good taste. But, taste was not even close to good Bengali restaurants. A piece of Eelish Paturi costs around 2300 and Dab Chingri (5 pcs only) costs 1495. They serve Govinda Bhog rice as their plain rice, but we found insect in it. Again I'll say taste was below average. Only Kolkata Kosha mangsho was good with Basanti polao, but portion size is very less as compared to price. Kolkata Kosha mangsho (4pcs) costs 695 and was served in a small plate with very less gravy. Sorry for not clicking pics of food because it was not worth it. If you have a lot of money left to spend, please go ahead and visit Aaheli (Peerless Inn).

If I talk of Bengali dishes that brings water to the tongue, the name that comes to mind is Aaheli. This is a restaurant situated inside the Peerless Hotel in the heart of Kolkata. The ambience and the decor is remarkable. All girls are clad in their traditional sarees and serving boys wear Punjabi and dhoti. The plates are of Kansa, a bronze alloy material on top of which comes the banana leave to serve your hot rice and others. The people are friendly, food is of top quality and the quantity adequate.

Food: If you love authentic Bengali cuisine, this is the place. Luchi with Kolkatar Kasha Mangsho was excellent in taste. We also enjoyed Basanti Pulao with Dab Chingri. The name of the dishes were as interesting as the flavour and taste. We have also tried Muchmuche Bhetki Cutlet and Chatokdari Jolpari (deep fried prawn) in the starter along with Anaraser Jeeramrito (Pineapple drink). Price: very reasonable (around INR 1200 to 1500 per head for a moderately heavy meal) Hospitality: We were welcomed by staffs wearing dhuti-punjabi and sari. Live Bengali music was not there due to COVID pandemic. The food were served in clean copper utensils, which will give you the feel of Maharaja. Ambience: Decoration with Durga idol will give you the feel of Durga Puja during this pandemic, in absence of pandal hopping. Safety: Social distancing was maintained. Staffs were wearing mask and gloves. Hand sanitizer provided at the entrance. Overall impression: We enjoyed the Saptami dinner at Aheli and we recommend our friends to visit at Aheli safely.
