Very Unhygienic place. Highly disappointed, would never go again. The place may have a legacy but it’s not hygienic at all.Hope the owners pay attention and improve the place. The tables were dirty, we kept requesting for people to clean, only after 4-5 reminders it was done and we kept standing for long. There were used tissue papers on the floor, the restaurant was stinking. The floor was dirty with soiled tissue papers, food and oily, making the floor slippery. Cooking area was also unhygienic.Pics attached. Requested person at the cash counter to check and get the restaurant cleaned but he was least interested. He said he can’t do anything he is just an employee and there is shortage of people.it he

Nizam's is always been in my favourite list from childhood. Whenever I am in Esplanade area I will eat the Kathi Roll from this joint. Latest I went here for lunch. This place will be always a busy one but service is quick. Ordered the special 1. Mutton Biryani. The biryani rice was so aromatic. Mutton pieces were so soft and nicely cooked. Good quality rice and that big potato piece. Never miss Biryani here. With this had 2. Mutton Kosha. That was so rich in taste. Comes with an egg. Damn delicious and mutton was so juicy. 3. Parotta. Crispy, soft and hot. Very reasonable price with good food quality. You can always choose this place for authentic Mughal and Persian cuisine. Parking in that area is bit tough but always available in some other streets. Dine in and delivery available too.

The taste is really good and the portions are also decent. But the price is a bit high for the Nizam's special, don't go for the special biryani, have the normal biryani instead. As they offer only one piece of extra mutton for double the rate. The kathi rolls are also delicious.

Well, if you thought that Nizam’s is only popular for its kathi rolls, it’s time that you change your perception. Situated in New Market, the restaurant serves lip-smacking Kolkata biryani—one of the best in the city. At any given time of the day, it might be difficult for you to find an empty place here. And on weekends, you might have to wait in a queue. However, the wait is worth it as the biryani is absolutely delicious. Served with boiled potatoes, pieces of chicken/mutton and a boiled egg, the heavenly taste of the biryani is nothing but outstanding. If you want to try something else too then order dishes like mutton pasanda, mutton rezala and chicken chaap along with your choice of bread such as naan or tandoori roti.

None was coming to our table for taking our order and there was no menu card in the table. We have to go to the counter to place our order. Ordered for 1 mutton and 1 chicken kathi roll...but after sometime they informed us only we can have chicken because mutton wasn't ready..so ordered 2 chicken rolls. The roll was not up to the mark as per its reputation and you can have far better rolls in any road side food stalls. After having the food we asked for a bill and it took another 15min. But the restaurant was mostly vacant, still they are still processing slow.

It was suggested by one of my colleague. Food is good but costomer experience is not satisfactory. 3 areas for sitting arrangement. 2 non AC and 1 AC. The main entrance for AC area is closed so you need to cross the cooking area to reach there. There is no staff allotted to each chair so you need to call one to order food else no one will bother to ask. If you talk about food it's not that awesome but good and hygienic. The advantage is that it's in new Market area so overcrowded all the time so that's the main reason for not providing quality service as people will come for sure

The Kathi Roll and the chicken kebabs are my favourite from this place. Visited after long and still, the roll is one of the bests. There is generally a huge queue for take aways but you can sit and have your food either in the ac or the non ac section. Roll price is increased to 85 now from 60 and the kebabs would cost you around 250 bucks.

I had gone there with a lot of expectations. But was thoroughly disappointed. Totally lacking in taste. We had a chichen roll and kathi kabab. It needs to be remembered that we do not visit these places for their names or their history but for their food only.

A legendary food joint, serving since 1932. Good food but way too costly. Yet their quantity is justified according to the price. Another thing to mention that they put too much kewra water/mitha attar into most of their dishes. Ambiance is very rich and beautiful to look. One could get combined vibes of Retro India as well as Mughal Gharana...

We went for Nizam's famous kathi roll ...One of the best heritage restaurant in the kolkata.. It's was very good smokey juicy chicken roll with good laccha Paratha outside... You should try it .. For me roll was very good ... Apart from this they put old Bengali films pictures on their walls also their interior design was vintage type , those are too good to see .. Go with your family, friends and lovable ones ❤️❤️

First and above all, I love the single egg and double chicken roll over here. Splendid!! All the food items are super tasty and wow! Interiors are quite good, ambience that people expect in a fine dinner. Only the improvement area is the 'Cleanliness'... floors should have been in better state. Prices are on higher side but taste will divert your thought. :)

I went to try the famous 'Kathi roll'. I was not at all disappointed. Though this is the first time I was having it the chicken was soft and flavourful. I had the roll around 1hr after buying it, unlike other rolls Nizam's roll was soft. I loved it. If you are around the New Market area do try their 'Kathi roll'.

This is my first time visit here after getting recommendation from a friend. And I'll be honest, it's actually good. All dishes that we tried were good in taste also. It's a family restaurant and ambience is nice here. Prices are also reasonable (not too expensive). I think I would like to visit again and try something else and let's see where my opinion goes. ✌🏻

Totally disappointment. Environment is totally unhygienic, dirty. Bees all around. They have classic, old decorations but they are out of maintenance. Service is poor too. I ordered mutton rezala which includes two mutton pieces. But they served one mutton and one chicken piece. Though after several complaints, they served another mutton piece at last. But staff behavior was not good at all. Mutton rezala tasted nothing good. Overall the place is totally a disappointment. Even the entrance of the AC cabin is dirty and very unhygienic. Definitely not a recommendation.

Good biryani and okayish kathi kebab, but the AC room has the worst service. We were 9 people and we were asked not to talk because other customers were getting disturbed. Nobody was in the room other than us and if 9 people talk it will create a buzz. We were not being loud and we are working adults. When we asked them politely to click a group picture of us they were sitting on their phones and gave us uninterested looks but one kind boy clicked a picture. The whole experience was very bitter. Please check this out.

One of the oldest Restaurant that continues to maintain the taste and quality of the food at such reasonable prices since 1932. I feel it's the heart of New Market. And we never at once fail to visit Nizam whenever we're at New Market. It's good to see the seating arrangements inside, that has changed drastically. It's all renovated with bright lights, quirky wall frames etc. Loved everything. Do visit to experience the beautiful delight.

The name is what remains, but the game has changed totally. I just went to New market area, and hence wanted to check out how Nizam's is currently. First impression wasn't too good as the ground floor eatery has two sections, where one is a family portion without AC and the other part is partly takeaway and part shabby sitting area. Toilets are not clean up to the mark. Very fast served the food but quality is not the best on it's price. I ordered Chicken butter masala and plain Tandoori roti. Ambience is nice but in the huge customer pressure, hygiene is not maintenance properly. Overall I would say this is ok, not like is name Since 1932. Before going please wear a Mask 😷.

hands down one of the best kathi rolls. no frills, meat wrapped in roti with onion, nimbu and green chilly. the best kinda roll. got the standard chicken kathi and mutton kathi. i prefer the chicken but mutton was good too. had to come here to pay my respect to the origins of kathi rolls.

Kolkata's one of the best roll place, Nizam's since 1932. Since 1964 Nizam's started kathi roll, the started using bamboo sticks to grill kebabs and thats the point Kathi roll born in Kolkata before that it was simple roll. All different aromatic spices used to marinate the kebabs that gives the flavours to Nizam's Kathi roll. Really good and must for evry roll lovers. Heritage ambience but now modified a lot till it is Nizam. Try biriyani n Phirni awsom full of aroma and flavor. It worth to be there.

This is a restaurant with a legendary reputation. Located at Esplanade, they have been known to serve one of the best rolls in Kolkata. Now since the revamp, they have taken the game up a notch. They serve the rolls inside now as well. We have been there a couple of times and tried the mutton biriyani and a couple of chicken gravy sides. The biriyani is pretty good with the grains being long and not too greasy. The pieces of mutton are soft and sizeable, though the whole biriyani quantity is a bit less. The ambiance is nice and service is quick. But finding a table can be a bit chaotic sometimes

Located in Esplanade. Just beside the main market. It is very renowned restaurant in Esplanade area, but lately the quality of the food has dropped. Prices are high but not worth it. Service is also not good. Food taste is very poor. Many local restaurants make better biriyani than them.

The Kathi Roll is something you should never miss when in New Market. Chicken is well fried, crispy taste of Onions with lemon sprinkled on them ,with fatty egg layered roll gives a wholesome feeling. Would highly recommend.

Nizam's Restaurant, credited as the birthplace of the iconic Kathi Roll, is a culinary legend in the world of Indian cuisine. Specializing in Mughlai fare, this eatery offers a taste of history and tradition on every plate. The Kathi Roll, an ingenious creation of Nizam's, is a delightful marriage of flavors and textures. The paratha, warm and flaky, cradles succulent fillings like marinated meats or spiced vegetables, delivering a satisfying blend of savory goodness. Each bite is a symphony of taste that leaves a lasting impression. Beyond the Kathi Roll, Nizam's offers a rich menu of Mughlai dishes, including kebabs, biryanis, and curries. The aroma of their tantalizing curries wafts through the air, inviting you to savor the spices and aromatics that define this cuisine. The restaurant's ambiance exudes a classic charm, making it an ideal setting for a gastronomic journey through Mughlai delights. The service is efficient and friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience. Nizam's Restaurant, with its heritage and culinary innovation, is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Mughlai cuisine and the unforgettable Kathi Roll. It's a place where tradition and innovation come together to create a delightful culinary legacy.

You can check this place out if you are around the new market area for some good Indian food. We tried their Nizam's chicken kathi roll- single which was good, but if you are a person who loves to eat roll with sauces & ketchup then you might not like their roll as they don't use any sort of ketchup & sauce. For Vegetation food you will only find few paneer dishes in their menu and nothing more. They have AC & Non AC Seating options as well, Ambience is also nice.

Overhyped. Quality of mutton is good but small in size. Overall quantity of Biryani is low and also the size of potato is very small. 290 rupees (including GST) is too high for the stuff. Taste wise average. Many street food biryani is better than it. This is my first and last visit to Nizam's for the biryani as I overall didn't enjoy so much.

Kathi kebab rolls hits different. Though the Paratha is not that special but the stuffing and kebabs have a distinct taste and well marinated. Biryani is light but tasty. The mutton could have been cooked for a few more minutes. It is a non AC restaurant. The staff is good. The decoration gives an old calcutta feeling. The light holders are beautiful.

I have been here both in the nom AC segment and the AC segment. They serve you the best roll in Kolkata. At least the've been serving roll over many decades now. Must try roll here. Biriyani is good /decent but I have had better. But rolls would make you visit again. Deserts, firni is good but I would recommend the Begum pasand Malai. If you are reading this and have not visiting this place YET. I recommend you to visit NOW. Go relish the food they serve. Just at the ground floor of Hogg building corporation office, near Chaplin square, the lane opp to Elite movie hall.

I had heard the name of Nizam of Kolkata from many people, it is a very old food shop. It established in 1932. One is located in Dharmatala, Kolkata. Being a Muslim shop, their kababs, kabab kathi rolls, mutton korma, Biryani etc. are famous. People come from far and wide to enjoy the taste of food here. They continue to give people the same taste of food even today. I love this place.

Whenever we think about restaurants in New Market area, Nizam's is a place that surely comes to our mind. Nizam's is mainly famous for its kathi rolls but they also have other Mughlai food options to offer. Gosht Kathi Kabab: Not a mutton lover so didn't like it much and also found it little chewy. However the taste of fried onions and green chilies went really well with the mutton pieces. If someone who is a mutton lover, he/she will definitely enjoy it. Murg Tikka Mashala: It was good. The chicken pieces were big, soft and flavourful. Zafrani Firni & Kulfi Faluda: Both were delicious. Perfectly sweet, creamy and smooth. Highly recommend! I also ate mutton biryani but forgot to click photo. It was decent.

The quality of service was great, the new Nizam looks really good... Their Kathi kebab rolls are as good as they were previously... We tried the laccha paratha which was just amazing and most of all thick but really crunchy to the core..... And there are no competitors for the mutton Kathi kebab of Nizam... Absolutely amazing in taste and juicy soft mutton.. please try the laccha paratha and mutton Kathi kebab combination whenever you visit... But the mutton chap is pretty disgusting, it is low on taste, hard mutton which is pretty nasty if you have high hopes for it... You can definitely try the special Mutton Ra Ra of Nizam but it still not that special..... Overall the place is clean and quality is good...AND POINTER, DO NOT GO IN THE AC REATAURANT, THEY CHARGE ₹30 EXTRA ON EVERY DISH THEY SERVE THERE...

This place always held a special place in my heart and is very nostalgic. However, this time it was sheer disappointment. We ordered 2 rolls- chicken & mutton respectively. Wait time was more than 60mins for just 2 rolls. It built our hunger and eagerness too. Mutton roll - negative rating. It was horrible with inedible chewy fat chunks of so called mutton that it has to be thrown away. Chicken roll -2/5. It has lost its old time charm of amazing kathi roll flavour. Not worth the long wait time in this unhygienic restaurant. I would personally not recommend this place. You aint going to miss out much. Give this place a miss. Service- negative rating as waiters were scarce. Overall hygiene of this place is highly questionable.

Had mutton biryani and chicken tikka butter masala with chicken chap. Biriyani( was delicious, proper quantity and mutton was well cooked👌. Chicken tikka butter masala was great... Rich in flavours (4 pieces) Chicken chap was good but little higher in salty side. Price was justifiable. Ambience good. Service average. Very crowded in peek festive season.

We went to have the famous Kathi rolls. The Chicken Kathi roll had 4 pieces of chicken, which didn't seem fresh! The Egg Chicken version did not have enough egg in it, certainly not a whole one! The mutton one was way too spicy! Some of our roadside eateries probably make tastier rolls! The only saving grace was the Paratha in the rolls, certainly soft and crisp! There were flies all over the place! A single person was taking orders and serving in the AC section ,with an absolutely stoic expression! So overall, not a very pleasant experience!

There are two side by side divisions of the Nizam's restaurant. One's the smaller one and the other is the bigger one. As it's understood that the smaller accommodation is a substitute for when the bigger one is filled and busy. We went in for a typical sunday evening hangout at Nizam's and the true essence of it's age old heritage was felt through and through via the ambience surrounding the place. Cleanliness wise it is pretty good and service wise - no questions asked. Super fast service! Now coming to the main agendas. The menu could definitely be a little more vast with different options here and there and the prices are in the medium range (affordable but not too reasonable either). But prior to what's been stated, the food and its deliciousness with it's impeccable quality does make up for it! Don't know about the rolls or anything but the famous biryani along with some other dishes that they suggested were really worth quoting such a long paragraph for. Thoroughly enjoyed the outing at Nizam's and would definitely love to visit it once again some time. Highly recommended!

A friend took me to this legendary outlet. Seating was simple & there is both an air conditioned & non air conditioned areas of seating. I found the food good in taste but a bit too oily & spicy with no real taste of exquisite masalas or rose water etc. Good to check out if you're in this area but not worth a special trip for sure.

I went there around 10 pm and by that time the mutton rolls were over. So i had to settle for a chicken kathi roll. I loved the taste and it was quite filling. The ambience of the restaurant could be definitely improved. However, i loved the film posters that are put on different walls. They have different sections like Bollywood, Hollywood, Tollywood etc.

Located in Newmarket, Nizam is one of Kolkata's famous old traditional restaurants. But I was quite disappointed by some of the arrangements here. Here are separate rate charts for AC and Non AC even today. The decoration of the shop is good but cleanliness is not very good. We had the Famous Chicken Kati Kebab Roll here. The price does not match the amount of roll test, size. This roll is of very ordinary quality.

I was really looking forward to having rolls at Nizam's but it was a true let down. The chicken roll was missing something, kinda Dry, the filling was definitely skimpy-ish, very average. The kebab was suggested by our server, again, low on salt, missing something. We got the mutton rolls packed, the mutton was rubber, it was again filled very poorly, small amount. Not acceptable. Food: 1/5 Service: 3/5
