Today we have visited for breakfast. We ordered idli, masala dosa, set masala dosa, upma, kesari bath and coffee. All items are very delicious and automatic. We loved our food.

This is one of the legendary hotels in Mysuru and it lives up to the expectations. The atmosphere itself is a feel good factor. It's a self service place. Coming to food, Idli vada Sambar and chutney were amazing combination. Benne masale dose with sliding butter was very different and tasted great. Aloo palya was good too. Coffee is not to be missed.

GTR is one of the oldest restaurant in mysore and taste is well maintained. Have been visiting this place since my childhood. Great place for South Indian breakfast and evening snacks. Famous for Idli and masala dosa which are very good. Chutney is very tasty here as well. Must try if you are in Mysore. There is a special cabin for family members. Self service with token system for ease of movement. Nice and friendly staff with gentle behaviour. The service is fast and you have ample place to sit. Mangalore bajji (goli) was great, tasty. Tomato rice was good too. Reasonable price. Every Monday will be a holiday. It's will be open from 7 am to 11 am and then again starts reopens from 3:30 pm till 8pm. No parking is available seperatley for cars but bike parking is okay.

I recently visited Gayatri Tiffin Rooms, and it was a delightful experience overall. The place opened right at 7 am, which was perfect for an early breakfast. I had the pleasure of trying their mouthwatering idli, Masala Dosa, Kesari bath, tea, and coffee. The idli and Masala Dosa were absolutely delightful, bursting with authentic flavors. The Kesari bath was a perfect blend of sweetness and texture, leaving me craving more. The ambiance of the place was pleasant, creating a comfortable dining experience. However, I did encounter some inconvenience with parking as the space for four-wheelers was limited. So, I would recommend arriving early to secure a parking spot. Though the poori and vada were not available during my visit, the other dishes compensated for it. However, I must admit that the taste of the tea and coffee was not up to par, and I felt the quantity was a bit limited. Despite these minor setbacks, I highly recommend Gayatri Tiffin Rooms for their fantastic idli and Masala Dosa alone, and I look forward to trying their other dishes in the future.

Gayatri Tiffin Room (GTR), a vegetarian restaurant located in the heart of Mysore, is a culinary haven for those who cherish authentic South Indian cuisine. Renowned for its delectable array of dishes, GTR has earned a reputation for serving good, yummy food that appeals to both locals and tourists alike. Almost everything on the menu, from the classic masala dosa to the fragrant filter coffee, is exceptional, making every visit a delightful experience for the taste buds. Despite its popularity, which often leads to crowded conditions, the atmosphere remains vibrant and welcoming. The best time to visit is around 8 am, when the kitchen is bustling with fresh preparations, allowing one to start the day with delicious breakfast offerings. The only drawback is the lack of adequate parking for four-wheelers, which can be a minor inconvenience. However, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience at GTR more than compensates for this. It stands out as a must-visit destination for vegetarian food lovers in Mysore.

Have retained the same taste & quality over the years. Good to dine in but keep in mind it's filled almost all the times! Sundays especially is fully filled with not much space to even stand around waiting for your order. Food takeaway order took a long time both the times I visited in the past 2 weeks. But I guess the tasty food is worth the wait and hassle?!

Self service option. This is one of the best dosa i've had in a long time. This is a must try item if you are in Mysore. There are both sitting and standing option available for dine in. Dosa tasted really good along with a butter on the top and crispy vada and coffee

Great Coffee. Masala Dosa was nice in its own way.. I guess. Although nothing unique or standing out per sey. Their Upma is good actually. Easier to get seats on a sunday morning 7-8 am. Parking for 2 wheelers available.

An iconic eatery in a quiet locality in Mysuru. Worth a visit. All the traditional breakfast, evening tiffin items such as masala dosa, idly, uppuma, rava kesari is served in stainless steel plates. Chutney and sambar too are served id adequate quantity. Tasty and hospitable service. If in Mysuru, one should not miss.

Gayatri Tiffin Room (GTR) in Mysore offers a delightful experience for vegetarian food enthusiasts. The open masala dosa, poori, and filter coffee stand out as must-try items, showcasing the restaurant's culinary strengths. The interior, while generally neat, shows signs of wear and tear. Adequate parking is available, though it can get crowded. Despite the positive aspects, I found the place somewhat overhyped. While the food was satisfying, the overall experience didn't fully live up to the heightened expectations. Nonetheless, GTR remains a solid choice for those seeking traditional South Indian vegetarian cuisine in Mysore.

Old school restaurants of Mysore, seating is basic Ambience: 3* Food : 3.5* nothing to boast about Parking : 2* almost zero, but can parking on road side Restroom: 0* this is were there management needs to invest and come to speed with present and things like these will not go in their favour with new age travellers. The newer restaurants and leaps ahead and are close or better in the food they serve. 4* for old sentiments 😉

This place I visited for breakfast since I had already visited Mahesh Tiffani’s for dose, now I took Upma to know the authenticity. To my surprise there was no salt added to it. Simply I ate without having anything in my mind to taste other menu’s. So next time I would try dose varieties. Hotel can be located in main road itself and hotel ambience is very good, neat and hygiene for its visitors. There is a special cabin for family members. Self service with token system for ease of movement. Next time I will update with other menu items as well.

You get the authentic feel when you visit this hotel. Butter masale dose and kesari bath are their specials. Butter masale dose is quite unique in its taste. Crunchier outside and softer inside. Kesari bath just melts in your mouth with plenty of ghee in it with its amazing texture and mild sweetness. End your breakfast with a nice and strong filter coffee.

I think it's overhyped eatery... I took coupen for set masala dose and gave it in counter and in counter they gave me 2 plain dosa without sagu or sambar. Not recommended if you want quick bytes..

In chamundi hills road. Famous among locals and best for breakfast. Must try Set Masala Dosa, Open Butter masala dosa, kesari bath and Coffee. The place is hygienic and self service. Entry is not handicap friendly. All types of payment options are available. May get rush during morning, but waiting period is very less

Food was great, tasty and reasonable price. Upma was oily but really tasty. Rava idli is superb and dosa is a bit thik but outside its crunchy... great in taste and texture. Aloo kurma they provide that is the real gem. Do try it must. Have a great tiffin experience.

Masala dosa was really good! Note that they don't add 'red chutney' for masala dosa. Vada and khara bath were also good. You can't stop at eating one masala dosa, but 2 will be heavy for most - the answer is 'Set Masala Dosa' :) Great place for breakfast! Classic old school mysore eat out...

I had visited the place on sunday. Place was heavily crowded, has self service and not table service. There are tables kept along with chairs where you can sit after receiving your order but it was all occupied by family members who came together and they wouldn't appreciate a stranger sitting along with them so I had to stand and eat. Crowd management is very poor. The servers were rude, took too long to even collect my order token and didn't even bother about things like how long I was waiting etc. Had ordered Masala Dosa for 65 INR which didn't live up to my expectations at all. Though it was crispy, it had no taste of butter whatsoever. Better to try Masala Dosa from places Iike New Mysore Refreshments, Mysore Coffee Bar etc. However, Coffee for 10 INR was good and worth the price.

Place was crowded... But got 3 plates of benne dosa to the car. The dosa and chutney was very nice, but there was a small slab of butter inside the dosa. It wasn't melted and spread out. Not sure what the concept was. Excellent coffee though.

(Translated by Google) I have been visiting here since 1971. Spicy and chutney is my most loved dish. The same gamma is the same good taste from then until now. Coffee retains its taste similarly. Loved the food yoh can try dosa or Idli and puri too all taste delicious but only one thing disturbing is it has limited time. GTR is not open morning to night I went there around at 2:30 and then i had to wait to open. Even on Monday it'll be close. There's self-service and no scan and pay.

  • 4/5 Akhil K. 2 years ago on Google
Masala dosa here is the famous one in Mysore. Even though it's small in size and costs ₹60, its taste is different. Masala Dosa here is very crispy. Food isn't table served here, you need to pickup from the counter. The only issue is that at evening times, you may need to wait upto 10 minutes for getting your order, and there's no proper queuing facility here. You may need to snatch your order quickly when it arrives, otherwise you'll be kept waiting.

Finally got a chance to visit this legendary breakfast outlet. I ordered the following. 1. Benne masala dose. 2. Idili vada. 3. Chow chow bath. 4. Coffee. The place is quite crowded and is difficult to get a seat, so make sure to come early and grab a seat, same is a problem with parking. It’s better to come by auto or bike, car parking is quite difficult to find on this road. 1. The benne masala dose was very nice and crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, they top it off with a nice spoon of butter. I rate this a 7/10. 2. Idili vada was average: I give it a 3/5 3. The chow chow bath was amazing, Karabath mainly I give it 7/10. 4. Coffee was good 7/10. Unfortunately because of the crowd I was not able to take a pic of the food plus I was too hungry 🤣 Over all nice place.
