Couldn’t miss this place out of curiosity seeing the great reviews and of course the hotel name having ‘Original’ in bold! Came here for dinner on a weekend - the menu is limited and the place is tiny - so be ready to wait for your turn. The dosa here is very soft - the taste is quite different but is yum. It’s almost like a fermented appam. The coffee is great too. If you have time on your hands - do give this dosa a try.

I came with my family here on a short getaway from Bengaluru. Decided after visiting brindavan gardens to have a light snack for dinner. We searched this place on Google. On arriving we felt it maybe was not the right place for a family seating. They were only serving 3 items - plain dosa , masala dosa and pumpkin halwa sweet. All 3 were amazing to eat and the dosa were especially very crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Another highlight was the masala which is waaayy different from ur traditional potato stuffing and almost feels like a dry version of a kurma. Each dosa is served a dollop of white butter. The sweet is very less in quantity which is perfect for a single person to indulge in and was a simple pumpkin grated halwa. I would recommend this to everyone who comes to mysuru and especially people who are only used to eating the typical dosa served in Udupi / Tamil restaurants.

Visited On 04-06-2022 After a decade i had visited this Place , Waaaah The Taste of the Dosa was Phenomenal no change at all and the home style Coconut Chutney hadn't changed at all . You will Crave For this Butter Dosa and Butter Masala Dosa I have almost forgot the name of the place , but was searching for it in Google just days before reaching Mysore . Finally Found the Butter Masala Dosa that melts In Your Mouth . Unpopular yet the best taste is for the Butter Plain Dosa My Favourite Of all time . Very Much in the Interior Roads of Mysore ,20-25 people seating little waiting This Place Very Never disappoint You .

I saw a rating of 4.9 star on Zomato and reached this place and received the most staggering shock of my life. First of all this place is soo small, barely 5 tables which you need to share with others. I waited for 55 mins in queue, obviously due to less seating capacity. They had hardly 6 items in menu and only 1 item in availability, which was masala dosa. Highly disappointed with taste, hype, hygiene and over all. Their handwash is in their kitchen. They prepare bulk dosas and get it on a single plate and serve one by one until you say no. This restaurant is 85 years old and their batter is very normal with a very small portion size and their masala doesn't have aalu or onion. It was either bottle gourd or something similar. I am amazed how people praise highly of this restaurant. Strongest recommendation is a big NO.

Fantastic dosa, palya and chutney. The dosa is very different, fluffy and not crisp yet very flavorful. The place has been refurbished recently

They have the BEST DOSAs in Mysore. They are more than delicious and just melt in your mouth. Service is humble and quick, but you have to wait sometimes during the peak hours or weekends, but the dosas are worth the wait. Strongly recommended! (Each dosa costs ₹55)

Traditional Style of Dosa making Place is Too Crowdy due to their taste and Quality of serving Idli and dosa is only available. Costs around 60/- per plate but worth the taste. Small and Cozy Place. Too crowdy.

Great news Mysoreans-Mylarians Old original Vinayaka Mylari hotel since 1938, is now available also in a new modern premise just 2 buildings away from previous one so more people being served in fresh new feel and the very same menu Mylari Masal dosai Mylari plain Dosai Idli Coffee They are expanding to JP nagar, indiranagar etc and need premises. Interested people contact They have 3 car parking, however, the road is so busy, and boxing is quite common. Personally i am not fan of too much of cinnamon in their dosai. But superlative chutney, non stop refills. Even with additional premise, getting seats is tough. I loved idli too We thought new hotel dosai was little dark, but after visiting old place and confirming it is common to see few have both sides white, few are darker brown or blackish brown based on where in the dosa-counter they are placed All must visit this tradition of Mysore ASAP

Very bad. Dosa is not good at all. Over rated. It is called oldest hotel. Who cares? Food should be good and hygiene should be maintained. Such a turn off after wasting time and reading all reviews.

We visited right around closing time. But owner cooperated since we already called ahead. But the waiters and workers looked like they were working under pressure since it was late for them. Anyhow the special dosa from this place that everyone were eagerly waiting to eat was reasonably good. Can’t say it was extremely good. Texture was ok but not crispy. But the dosas were soft and coconut chutney served was fresh. Their special sweet was good. Restaurant seating area can be improved and alternate parking for customers needs to be provided since it’s located on a narrow road in the middle of a busy market area.

Vinayaka Mylari Restaurant in Mysore offers delicious food, with soft idly and butter dosa being standout highlights. The reasonable prices make it a tempting stop. However, the place is quite congested, requiring a wait outside for entry, and finding parking can be challenging. Despite these minor inconveniences, the restaurant's long-standing presence since 1938 attests to its enduring popularity. It's a worthwhile choice if you happen to be passing through the area, especially for the delightful flavors of their iconic idly and dosa.

It was nice and authentic style of dosa. Very old and well know hotel for dosa located in Nazarbad, near to main bus terminal. Locality 4/5: Place is easily accessible and located at centre of city. Parking 1/5: Hotel doesn’t have a dedicated parking area. As road is narrow, difficult to park the vehicles including 2 wheelers. Can park bike in adjacent roads. Taste 4/5: It has unique taste. Dosa won’t be crispy and this hotel doesn’t have any other food items. They serve only plain and masala dosa. Masala will be similar to saagu not aloo. Price 3/5: I personally felt cost is too much. One dosa is ₹40 and it will be small. You can easily have 2-3 dosas for breakfast. NOT WORTH FOR MONEY. Service 5/5: as there are no other food items, waiter starts serving immediately. Hygiene 3/5: It is very old hotel with small area having 5 tables only. Flooring and tables are too old .Handwash located in entrance of kitchen which is not well maintained. WEDNESDAY IS HOLIDAY !!! ENJOY ON REMAINING DAYS 😊

It’s a old place inside the streets. Very small place to sit. But amazing taste of dosa. We almost finished 5 dosas. They have only plain or masala dosa. But the authentic ones. The service is really good. I liked the plain one because it was more crispy in taste.

Not a dosa lover, but this dosa has a different flavours. Idli is soft as butter.. but paying 45 rs for a dosa isn't worth is what I personally feel. Don't go by driving here. U won't get parking space for 4 wheeler. Two wheeler u can some how find a gully to park. Usual waiting time is around 10 to 20 mins. Now they're serving on the first floor too.

This was my second visit to this place. I had been to this place years ago with friends. The place still looks the same but the crowd has increased a lot. As I went in the early morning I could get a seat. Staffs are so friendly and they try all their best to make service faster despite of the crowd. Their dosa is definitely a must try. I appreciate the people to maintain the place with the authenticity not changing anything even after so much fame. That’s what make this place so special. People says the place is overhyped just because the place is crowded and not a luxury one. Those people are just meant to go to cosy place and eat fancy foods. If you are a foodie then just ignore those reviews or comments and go eat some dosas there.

It's one of the best Bene Madala Dose available in Mysore. Dosa here has a different texture - combination of crispy and spongy. They don't serve alodage palya, infact they have onion palaya which gives an extra flavour to it. Overall loved the place.

Visited this place few days back.. Delicious authentic south indian taste was served. But you have to secure a place for yourself after waiting for 5 to 10 minutes which is totally weirdest scenario. Overall food is very tasty and waiting is totally worth!

It's an old dose hotel. While they claim to be original 'Mylari' hotel, there is absolutely nothing special about the dosas served here - just about not bad, but average tasting dosas. Also the place is so old & congested. So, overall one would wonder why the hype and definitely not worth it for any tourist to visit the place after doing a search of the place. Am a local foddie and can vouch that hype of this place is not worth it.

They have fluffy dosa's and idly. This hotel has softest idly I have ever tried. The dosa reminds me of pan cake, that fluffy it was. Plain and masala dosa are the varieties and they are charging same price for these two. A good place to try Mysore style dosa and idly.

This outlet is said to be the very original outlet serving Sagu Masala Dosa. It's a very small outlet, completely cramped in the ground floor. We were told that the first floor has a better seating than ground but it's closed after a certain time. After some wait, we grabbed on to a table that just got vacated. We were told there's masala and Kali dosa only. The concept is quite amusing. As you are seated, a empty plate is placed in front of you. Then there's a constant supply of Dosa coming out of the kitchen. You can keep eating as much as you want then settle the bill accordingly. They also serve milkshakes here. The texture of the dosa was fluffy (as per their tag line) and very soft. Loved the texture and feel of the dosa. A table spoon of sagu is stuffed in the dosa. The chutney could have been better as am used to the taste of chutney served in Bangalore hotels. . Cost of the dosa is ₹45. The seating was conjusted but that's the way it is due to the space constraint.

It was a unique experience . You should accept the fact that you are entering a restuarant that have maintained their tradition for the past 80 years, so you might not find any recent takes on how the food is served. That beinh said, dosa which is their main highlight is served in a very simple way with some masala but prepared in lots of butter and ghee. You will find it definitely interesting as it adds a different experience to our taste buds. However, if you are going in with an expectation on best dosa in all Karnataka, you could be disappointed because we have various types of dosa that tastes more mordern with different types of chutneys and all. The seating capacity is very low and hence you will always find a small crowd infront of it.The serving pace is very quick and people get in and out within 20 mins. Parking is another issue as this is a small shop on main road.

Amazing place, great food, very good service. You will be in and out of this place in under 45 mins. They only serve idly and dosa. They have nailed the recipe I believe. Sagu masala is really good and idly is soft and very very delicious. Try their Kashi halwa and thank me later. It’s a must try if you are around Mysore. You’ll like the 1900s ambience for sure.

This is one of the authentic dosa place on the road of Mysore. The butter on the top makes it taste so delicious. The texture is very crispy. I have never had this kind of tasty dosa in my life. It is always very crowded for its exquisite taste. The price is very nominal. One dosa lover must visit this place. This is almost a historical place as it’s established almost 50 years ago and still exists potentially serving one of the most famous dosa.

They make dosae .. either you want butter or you don't. Any normal person will eat 3 minimum. The place looks filled but they have one more floor so you will get seat. If you go with parents better take a parcel or get a seat in the below floor. The first floor stairs are not for them. The ROAD IN ONE WAY. You will see ton of people stopping. If you come in car find a space somewhere to park. Busy road. Enjoy.

Famous place but it's Dingy and unhygienic😟 I didn't find it economical either. No sambhar, which is okay but Chutney isn't tasty either. Quite bland infact. Dosa was OK for me. No masks, they use hands to serve dosa after cleaning tables (malpractices) don't wash hands, Gosh too much. 🙆‍♀️🥵🥶

Famous celebrities have also been visited this place like Telagu supr star Chiranjivi and etc.. Idli - was very soft and fluffy served with coconut chutney and little sagu 👍. Masala dose - Good to see and tasty. Finally filter coffee satisfied my morning bkf. Total cost - 90 INR 2 Idli - 30 INR 1 Butter Masala Dosa - 45 INR 1 Coffee - 15 INR Avoid coming in the vehicle, because no space for parking.

Restaurant serving since 1938. Dosa and idlis are the highlights here. I really liked dosa because of its texture and taste. It is a great place for breakfast and not other meals because of the portion size and also it won't be that filling. You don't get many options for the food. Even filter coffee was okayish. Overall I personally felt an overrated restaurant hyped majorly. Since this restaurant has seen decades, its worth going once to enjoy the vibe.

Visited this place during my day trip to Mysore and it was a pleasant surprise! Even as someone who usually isn't a fan of dosas, the ones here won me over. The dosas were warm, crispy, and made with their own butter – a game-changer! Despite the long queue, the wait was totally worth it. If you're in the area, don't hesitate to give it a try. A must-visit spot for dosa lovers and skeptics alike! (Dosa was so good, I got wrapped up and forgot to take a picture)

Mylari Dosa – A Gastronomic Triumph in Every Bite! 100 % RECOMMENDED Prepare to embark on a culinary journey like no other with the Mylari Dosa – an absolute masterpiece that has redefined my perception of dosas. From the moment I took my first bite, I was transported to a realm of unparalleled taste and texture. The Mylari Dosa, with its golden-brown, paper-thin exterior, is a sight to behold. The delicate crispiness as I broke through the outer layer revealed a soft, pillowy interior that melted in my mouth. It was the epitome of dosa perfection, a flawless balance of textures that left me in awe. Accompanied by an array of delectable chutneys – coconut, coriander, and tangy tomato – the Mylari Dosa becomes a gastronomic symphony. What sets Mylari Dosa apart is not just its extraordinary taste but also the commitment to authenticity. The recipe, passed down through generations, is a testament to the dedication of preserving the essence of South Indian culinary heritage. This is called LEGACY. ❤️ Whether you're a dosa enthusiast or a casual diner, Mylari Dosa is an experience that transcends expectations. It's not just a dish; it's an EMOTION to celebration of flavors, textures, and tradition. Mylari Dosa has earned its place as a culinary gem, and each visit is a reminder of why it stands as a beacon of excellence in the world of dosas. MUST TRY. 🤌🏻

Rustic small place with only 4-5 tables. Mylari serves one of the finest dosas you will ever eat. Dosa is quite different here. Fluffy non-crispy served with potato palle and yummy coconut chutney with a topping of white butter. Masala dosa here just melts in your mouth like butter. During peak hours there will be some waiting. There is no menu card here. Humble servers.

We visited possibly at the closing time at around 8 PM or so. Unfortunately the Dosa offered lacked in that famed presentation or the taste. We possibly do better at our homes. Also, go only for the fame it carries as the items on the Menu is not any special. There are also a couple more restaurants in the same name on the same street, so you'll have to believe in each other's authenticity claim. Seating is mere basic. No dedicated parking space though, you can park in the bylanes. Expensive for the quality they offer.

Initially they started here by two brothers . Now there is one more mylarii as the two brothers got different separate hotels. Both of them clims original Mylari. But our concern is only BannaeDosa . So it doesn't matter who is original. Many celebrities visited and do coming here for BannaeDosa Breakfast. Mainly two items BannaeDosa and Idly plus coffee. They mostly accepts cash and mobile payments.Card I am not sure. Good place for BannaeDosa. They never reveled the ingredients and the recipe.

Very famous spot in Mysore. This is the original spot. There are many operating in same name. Taste is splendid. The Chuttney is awesome.

  • 1/5 Ravikumar y. 3 years ago on Google
Not liked. It is hyped due to social media. Rate is too high for the Mysore cost of living and the hotel ambience. Better quality is available in other hotels.

  • 1/5 Sachin D G. 3 years ago on Google
All the hype in reviews is fake or they have not tasted dose before. This ದೋಸೆ is not even good in taste. They use adulterated butter. Rs.40 for a butter dose is not worth here. I visited despite my brother's advice and regretted it. The palya is worst part of it. Stay away especially if you are from Davangere and used to good ದೋಸೆ

Established nearly 80 years back as per board. Visited four times.. Limited seating capacity. No parking facility. Narrow road. Taste is good. Feeling unhappy when the serving people mixed water in chutney. Owners are very courteous.

This is the ORIGINAL Mylari dosa place. Fantastic experience. Loved the food. Dosas with a dollop of butter was a treat. Never had softer idlis than this. And the chutney was heavenly. It's a MUST visit in Mysore. Pro tip: go early in the morning so that you can get parking space and take cash along

The best Masala Dose. What a taste .. probably no where you will get that kind of Dosa. Cost is little higher for Dose. They offer idli as well but no tea or coffee. Enquire about price and then eat. The hotel was very well maintained when Owner Chandranna was there and now it's not well maintained as before. Foodies should visit this place. But the place is very small and can't hold more than 20 people at a time. Now there's a first floor which can accommodate some people. Road is one way, there's no proper place to park cars. so plan and visit. Have fun and enjoy Dose 😍😊

  • 5/5 Soham S. 2 years ago on Google
I was excited to eat here. I was surprised to see the size of the restaurant. But the originality came through. The masala dosa was fantastic. They provide fast and prompt service, will definitely recommend to people looking for south indian cuisine.

  • 3/5 Stanley M. 2 years ago on Google
Their menu consists of only two types of masala dosa plus an Indian sweet. Dosa and chutney were good. Service was good, too! Very limited seating (10) and practically no parking outside. But, they've been in business since 1938!

  • 5/5 Nithin K. 2 years ago on Google
What to say on a hotel that has a legacy already? All I could affirm is that the hype is real and you should definitely try it atleast once for the unique dosa texture and watery coconut chutney, one spoon of which is enough for a dosa. Yeah, trust me.. 😂 'Cherry on the top' here is the 'pinch of butter on the top of the dosa' the purpose of which I badly want to know. Whether it is for the presentation or easy swallowing.. only the one who knows knows. Cheap pricing and with only three items on the menu voices out its simplicity and the level of customer bonding. Go for it. -Seer

Masala dosas were awesome soft buttery and very light on the tummy. Idli was ok. No coffee or tea or sweet when I went.

  • 4/5 Arjun H. 1 year ago on Google
A very different style of soft dosas. Not a big fan of this style. Very small hotel with limited seating. Generally there is 10-15 mins of waiting. They don’t serve coffee / tea as well.

  • 5/5 Dinesh S. 1 year ago on Google
Vinayaka Mylari takes you back in time. It's a small shop and pretty easy to miss in the street. The seating space is limited, but that is its only shortcoming. They serve only two varieties of dosa, plain and masala dosa, but boy oh boy! The taste is amazing. I have never eaten a dosa similar in taste and texture. The dosa is crispy on the outside with a taste of butter. It has a soft inner layer and melts in your mouth. The masala itself is pretty unique and not your usual potato masala. One can easily finish two or three dosas. I ended the meal with a cup of coffee. The prices are very reasonable. This is a must-visit place if you are a dosa lover.

Must visit restaurants in mysuru to try authentic masala dosa, idli with coconut chutney. Crowded on the weekend as usual. You need to wait at least an hour, not advisable for elderly and young kids. Because the restaurant size is small with multiple floors and tables are small. Located in one way and you can't find car parking nearby. You need to find a parking place and walk to the restaurant. Bike parking is also tough but not an issue. As the ground floor is fully crowded we had on the 1st floor. Make sure you do the cross check the billing calculation as they are not doing it right and not using the calculator.

Little overhyped, dosas were good and tasty, but great tho. Definitely will have to wait and it’s a very small congested place. Second floor is renovated. Service will be slow due to crowd especially on weekends

👍👍 Both veg and non veg food served are good. We ordered something new called Coin Paratha and it was worth trying. Paneer butter masala was classic. Do try the burger from Easy Bites(their snack section), so soft and absolutely delicious!

😠 Worst place to have any kind of food. The queue to enter this place can take more than 20 minutes and the food is below average.
