Very serene atmosphere and beautiful landscape. The manor house is stunning and adds the rich historical feel to the grounds. Walking through the gardens you are swept up in history and could almost imagine what it felt like living on the grounds back in the days. A beautiful array of flowers are planted across the grounds in a spectacular display. The grounds are in excellent condition. There is a cafe on the grounds and they serve amazing food. The staff are friendly and fast with service. I would recommend having a nice brunch with a warm coffee and freshly baked cake while visiting. The zoo is a beautiful assortment of local animals and have a few habitats for the local red squirrels which are amazing to see. This is a must see historic destination.

Great day out. We were lucky to pick a weekend with a food festival too. Lots to see and do including the 2 food areas, art fair, free samples, beautifully maintained flowers and gardens, a short Thomas the Tank Engine train ride (£2 per person), cycle museum, the old house, crazy mini golf, putting green, children's play area, adventure play area (for older children), the zoo (free), greenhouse, the old stables. And if that was too much, you could take a leisurely stroll along the River Mersey or the Woodlands surrounding the park. I think it is one of the best public parks I have ever been too with so much to see and do. The park is open until 8pm in the summer and there is a car park (£4 all day) or side street parking by the cemetery.

What a wonderful hidden gem! The gardens are stunning and there is plenty to do for young children. From the petting zoo, playground, mini golf, gardens, cafe there is plenty to do! It also does not cost the world, plenty of space to have a picnic! Definitely recommended

Fantastic council owned park. Grounds are so well maintained and are a credit to all involved in their maintenance and upkeep. Nice cafe dog friendly with decent range of drinks and snacks but is slightly expensive. Nice little children's zoo and play area as well. Something for everyone.

Lovely place. First time I've been here. Very clean and tidy. Lots to do for the kids and the cafe is great. Toilets dotted round and clean also. Paid £4 to park for the day and the small kids zoo free 👍

Recommend this park if you want a nice walk and also looking to go somewhere if you have younger kids. It has a playground, zoo, crazy golf, go ape style tree course, and lots of places to sit off and have picnics. Parking is cheap too and the zoo is free as well as entrance to the park and gardens.

Great place for families. The playground is really very good. There's something for all ages, from little ones to pre-teens. The children's zoo was great too. There's also a cafe with some decent food, mainly sandwiches, toasties and cakes. The ones we bought were delicious. There are some vegan options too. There's a dozen or so tables outside but you could just eat it as a picnic anywhere in the grounds.

What a lovely park/mini zoo. Took our 17 month old and the park was great for him and very 17 month old friendly. We also had a walk around the mini zoo which had a nice selection of animals given entry is free! Parking is 3 pound for the day/as long as you are there. There’s also a nice cafe which did lovely cakes and had high chairs. Will be visiting again!

Walton Hall is a very well-run spot to have a day out with the family in Warrington. There are a number of activities such as a kids zoo, a play park and various wooded walks in the garden. There are a good number of toilets and baby-changing facilities on site and there are many families that visit to enjoy the outside air and a picnic. There is an ice cream van and the heritage cafe serves the usual hot drinks and sandwiches. A small selection of rides and activities (at the time of writing in August 2021 : ferris wheel £2, tea cups £2, Bungi Trampoline £4, Thomas the Tank Engine Train £2) but they all take cash as far as I could tell, some bring some coins. There is also an 18-hole adventure golf course that charges £19 for a family of four. The course itself is relatively well-kept, is a nice challenge even for adventurous mini-golfers, but can get busy at times, so be prepared for the odd stare from angsty teens trying to play through. What's the rush, buddy? Entry into the Gardens are free, but the car park charges a very reasonable charge for parking all day (depending on which day you visit) and you can pay using a well known parking app. A good day out with the family, but my advice would be to get there EARLY as it gets very busy and the parking fills up quickly.

Amazing place to visit on a nice day. There is huge fields to sit and relax on aswell as a huge play area for the kids. Also in the grounds there is a little farm with birds and alpaca on, a green house with a pond full of fish and other things to see. Car park is reasonably price & blue badge get to park for free while there. There isn’t many BB spaced near the front but you can park in any space and pop your BB out for free parking.

Absolutely fabulous place to take the kids. Spent the whole day there with my grandson and he didn’t get fed up once. It’s got a huge park that caters for all ages, there is loads of car parking. It’s free to get into the park but you have to pay for the car park. The zoo is amazing, peacocks just strolling round! Had a ride on Thomas the tank around the grounds, had a go on the small funfair, enjoyed an ice cream sat in the Sun, made a den in the woods and strolled around the beautiful gardens. Lovely to take a picnic and just sit and watch life go by. There’s also a lovely café serving toasties and cakes and a few artisan shops so really, something for everyone. I’d highly recommend this as a day out for a family Or even a couple just wanting a stroll in a beautiful environment.

Makes for a fab half day out, suitable for couples or families with kids with the small zoo and mini golf. The gardens are also well kept and make for a pleasant, short walk. The main let down is how busy the cafe gets, so we went elsewhere for food instead of waiting.

This place is amazing day out for the children. It has playground area, a little zoo, thomas the tank engine train ride, couple small rides, clean toilets, cafe, sensory garden area. There are lots of green area too for nice picnics. Its brilliant. The only thing is the play area was absolutely jammed packed. Definitely a place to visit.

A lovely walk, maybe lacking in floral displays like other parks but still plenty of space for a good stroll. Parking was £4 and for that we got entry to the park and also entry to the little zoo there. Zoo had Alpacas, Rabbits, Goats, Peacocks and even Red Squirrels. A great place to take kids and a cheap day out.

Amazing place for a super cheap but excellent familg day out. Amazing variety of things for children to do/keep little ones occupied. Fab large play area with a lot of variety in equipment for different ages, from baby swings and toddler play frame with mini slides to rope swings and large more grown up stuff, lovely little farm/zoo area, beautiful gardens and pond with ducks, lots of space for picnics and games so take your football/outdoor games, great little thomas the tank train ride £2 per person only a few minutes ride but great fun for children. All free bar the train ride. Parking £3 in the week and £4 at weekends. Highly recommend. Cafe is lovely too!

A lovely park just outside of Warrington in Walton. The park has pay for parking but you must arrive early as spaces get filled rather quickly on weekends. Prices vary for parking but best deal is £4 for an all day. (the machine takes card) There is a cafe with outdoor seating benches. Food is delicious (good selection of veggie options) but on the pricey side so pack lunches is an option especially if you have children. There are outdoor parks, secret gardens, toilet facilities and a Thomas train ride (extra cost - £2.50 per person) The most surprising was the park had its own mini zoo with squirrels, chickens, exotic birds, Al pacas and goats. The zoo was free to enter. Overall, a fun place to relax for the whole family.

Ideal for a family day out, plenty of open grass areas for picnics and children to play. Zoo has lots of small animals and birds to see. Only cost is for car parking. Best to avoid cafe and bring your own food and drinks.

Pram friendly walking and excellent play park facilities for kids. The mini zoo has lots of birds, some goats, llamas, sheep, rabbits and a pig to see. There is a lot of open space and a nice cafe there. Staff were friendly and polite and the grounds were tidy and well kept. Overall a good day out and will definitely return.

Nice house and gardens. We visited on a Saturday afternoon in November and it was really busy. It's a dog friendly place which is really important to us although I'd say its busy to the point of not being able to have the dog off lead (which is allowed with the exception of a few small areas) so if visiting with an off-lead dog, visiting early morning before it gets too busy might be a good idea

We had our reception at Walton Hall and Gardens so it holds a special place in our hearts so I may be biased lol but I love it here. Its a beautiful place to go for walks, take the kids to the huge play area and yes... Have weddings. Decent size car park (pay and display) but the car park is a bit of a walk to the Hall itself. Other than that, it's a fantastic place 😁

I don’t know how we missed this place and never been . We literally been everywhere in Cheshire and Staffordshire and never go to Walton gardens. I can tell it was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed it, kids enjoyed it. And that’s what matters. Loads of attractions, nice little zoo to keep kids entertained and also massive playground and space for picnic . Beautiful walks , nice lake and what a views. Absolutely clean environment, and friendly staff. And it’s absolutely free which is a bonus. Of course you have to pay for attractions but that’s normal even prices of these are low and affordable for anyone. Only 4£ for parking as well for whole day on a weekend. Great. Definitely our to go park more often. Beautiful.

Alright. Its fancy pants park has the occasional theatre production on which is nice. Plenty of tree rats ( squirrels ) and a half decent play area for kids although no monkey bars which is strange. Have councils decided they no longer safe or allowed ?

We went to Walton gardens as part of the Cheshire food festival, it was really busy and crowded but still was amazed by all the beautiful flowers and trees. This is a very well kept park,a true gem of the Warrington area. Highly recommended for a sunny day walk or picnic!

  • 5/5 Stephanie M. 1 year ago on Google
Super busy with it being a warm, sunny half term day but great how much is on offer for the price of a car parking ticket. The kids had a great day and the grounds and garden are beautiful. We had a go on the adventure golf too (extra charge) which was good fun...no score counting when you're playing against a 4 year old though 😉 but he loved it. The playground is huge and caters for all ages and the animal zoo was fab with free entry. Lots of beautiful free roaming peacocks all around. And they're were huge fish and turtles in the pond! Toilets were decent but bring your own toilet roll if you're there in the afternoon on a busy day...it ran out. There were lots of picnic tables spread out all over the grounds, some in the sun and some in the shade. Didn't try the cafe as the queue was too long

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️What a gorgeous place to visit, we took our daughter for a private alpaca walk, worth every penny and Peter is just superb, so knowledgeable. We throughly enjoyed the walk and hearing all about the history of the hall & gardens. Also a lovely little zoo, nice clean toilets and the cafe was great too. Just a nice place a for a little walk, there is a fairly decent sized park for the kids to play in and a small zoo on site with a variety of farm animals, pigs, donkeys, goat and even a couple of alpacas. Lovely grounds to have a walk. Plenty of wildlife and there are things for the kids to do with also a kids zoo that's free. Get very busy on nice summer days as it seems to be one of the top places for families to go out for the day to enjoy the weather. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Lovely place, with beautiful views and serene walkways throughout the whole park. The Children’s Zoo is full of different animals, and some even roam free around the garden. There’s an effective one way system to keep people well-distanced, but it still affords great exposure to all the animals. There’s a kids’ railway running, some fairground attractions, a large play area, and endless expanses of greenery and botany.

  • 5/5 Blanca M. 3 years ago on Google
Very beautiful green spaces!!! It is really a gorgeous walk not to be missed. People there make a great job and they look after lovely animals that you can also contribute to help with their zoo through donations and even allow you to adopt a pet that for sure, it will be well looked after by them! We all can help these lovely animals to enjoy a better life at the same time we love taking our kids to visit them in the zoo! ❤️

Visited on November 6th and to be honest the place looked a bit tired. You'd think that the 4 pound parking fee would go towards maintaining the kids play area. A couple of the kids rides were broken or a bit rough around the edges. The zip line was grinding and difficult to pull, so my granddaughter couldn't really enjoy that. Also the toddlers swings need a splash of oil at the top, they're just too stiff and squeaky. Maybe I should just bring a can of oil with me next time and go around the park sorting the place out. It would literally take 10 minutes so good knows what the maintenance staff are doing. Oh no wait, I know what they're doing. They're probably maintaining all the things that you have to pay for. Like the mini golf, pitch and putt, crown green bowls etc. There's no problems with that part of the park. I've been bringing my daughter, son and now granddaughters here for the last 30 years. Sadly it's now quite apparent that unless you are paying to use something in the park, they're not interested in maintaining it. What a shame.
