We had a lovely & uncomplicated stay at Penny. All the staff were very pleasant and accommodating whenever we needed anything. Our room was great; simple, clean and roomy enough that we weren’t completely cramped for our 4-night stay. (I really appreciated the abundant pillows on the beds!) The cleaning staff were super and we always had a spotless room with new towels and a coffee refill, no matter the time. Having the Fellow coffee setup in our room meant the world while staying in a hotel: the perfect touch each morning! We will recommend this place to our traveler friends and will definitely be back. Thank you Penny!

Wonderful hotel in great neighborhood. Easy walk to great bars and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were cozy, creative and highly functional. Loved the in room pour over set up for coffee. Bed was super comfortable and the room, while small, had everything needed. Parking was reasonably priced. All and all, a great experience.

This place rocks. Super dog friendly and a perfect location in Brooklyn. Rooms were clean and had all of the modern amenities we needed to be comfortable. No parking but we had no issues finding parking on the street.

Definitely check out Penny when you are visiting Williamsburg! Fun, hip and modern rooms- artwork was great and benefits a great local cause. Staff was so welcoming! Felt like home- perfect sized room for a few night stay. Loved the in-room coffee, nice size fridge, yoga mat and block in room. Location felt very safe and was close to great shopping and dining options, yet tucked away enough to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Can't wait to come back and stay again soon!

Amazing stay with such unique thoughtful touches. I was looking to book a place to stay that was near the tattoo shop and I'm so glad I went with penny Williamsburg rather than a big name hotel. So well curated and so much character. Everyone was so friendly. One of the few times I want to return to a hotel! I will definitely be booking another trip to stay here.

I hope anyone who reads this review can trust it enough to book the room right this second! This is THE best boutique hotel I have stayed at in a long time. I travel a lot for work and as a digital nomad and I can ensure you that location wise and quality price wise, you can't get better than that. The rooftop is amazing, the rooms are EXTREMELY clean, spacious and really comfortable. You are 15 minutes away from the city with the L train, it's even better than staying in Manhattan in my opinion. Williamsburg is so incredible with so many things around. 10/10, I will be coming back to the Penny hotel every time I book a flight to NYC!

Awesome new hotel! The layout of the rooms are great. Staff was on point and helpful. Location is perfect, as you can easily get to Manhattan on the nearby subway access. I would recommend that you take the time to explore Williamsburg, though - it offers a lot of great parks, restaurants, and has more of a relaxed vibe than the city. Thanks for the amazing first visit to NYC!

Rooms good but typically small as per New York norm. Room service skipped a few times, so no fresh towels, needed to ask reception to sort. Turn left out of the door and you're greeted with the usual hip, up and coming Williamsburg life, but turn right and it's pretty dodgy. A no go zone later at night. Rooftop bar excellent, with good views and a cool vibe.

Great new hotel. The location is super convenient- lots of really good food and stuff to do within walking distance. The rooms are nice, clean and simple. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking to experience a little bit of Williamsburg. Also a great place to venture into the city from, very quick cab ride and close to the subway.

I loved my stay here. The staff was sweet, the room was cute, and the location was fantastic. The only complaint I have is that I had a room where the bed is against the window and I’m not sure if it’s poorly insulated, or I’m just not used to New York City buildings, but I was very cold. Luckily they provided plenty of blankets to bundle up with! Would absolutely stay again.

I’m here now and so over the moon with this place that I had to write an early review. One night into my 5 night stay and here’s what I experienced: Very warm welcome at the lobby where they escorted me to my room the back way due to a temporary main elevator glitch. Offered to come get me any time if I needed to leave and wasn’t comfortable finding my way out. It was simple, didn’t need their help but so nice of them to offer. Room is small but very well laid out and cozy. Kitchenette is very convenient. Pour-over coffee was a great way to start the day. So many nice touches in the room, including an umbrella to use, extra foldout chair, yoga mat and roller, free bike use (raining so not using but what a great touch) and option to reserve workspace off the lounge area that came in very handy today. The bed! Not sure I’ve ever stayed in a bed that was as comfy as my own until now. And I got to sleep in late this morning for the first time in months, thanks to this quiet room with blackout shades. I’m here visiting my daughter so already in a good mood, however the helpfulness and graciousness of the staff and the cozy, comfy room, is elevating the entire experience. My new favorite home away from home.

I loved this hotel! The location was great and within short walking distance to restaurants, shops and coffee. The room had everything I needed and more. It was very well designed and laid out for a small space without feeling cramped. The bed was comfortable and I loved gazing out of the large window. It’s amazing how quiet it was. Lots of great and amusing artwork adorns the walls throughout the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I’ve found my new favorite place to stay when in the Williamsburg area!

It’s nice to be blown away every now and then. The Penny did that for me. Has to be in my top five hotels. First. It’s in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Great place. Young, vibrant, energetic. Great shopping, great food, diversity. Just an overall great atmosphere. The property location isn’t ideal. Three to four block to the main arteries for eating and shopping and a couple blocks more to the waterfront. Worth it because you’ll be viewing one of the most breathtaking views of Manhattan. The hotel was simply awesome. Easy check in. Efficient elevators. Clean (perhaps because it’s new) and material quality very good. The hallways hint art deco and the rooms chic modern. I love accent walls and ceilings and black was used in this room perfectly. Tall ceilings, roomy, well thought out. Quiet. Remote control blackout shade with the control by the bed and not the entrance. Imagine that! So much thought was put into the design! Waiting for me on a small table, usable as a desk, was a bowl of oranges. My room included a wet bar with a sink, refrigerator and a fresh pour over glass coffee/tea maker with two small canisters of freshly ground coffee. Also provided, a gauze robe to lounge and savor that wonderful cup of coffee. The bathroom, also large, included cotton balls, q-tips, lotion and plenty of fresh towels and the shower roomy enough. You tall folk won’t need to slouch to wet your hair either. All in I paid around $250 for one night using the Hotel Tonight app. Would do it again in a heartbeat for even more!

Super cool boutique hotel! Rooms are cute, have cozy robes, microwave, mini fridge and pour over coffee. The little details are definitely understood here. The water bottle refill machine was available on my floor and they had those clear instagramable umbrellas to borrow at the front desk. Rooftop had an AMAZING view! I'll definitely return on my next trip to Williamsburg!

I never write reviews, but I have to shout out Penny for being a lovely experience. I used to live in the neighborhood, so when I came back for a quick visit I wanted to stay close to my fav places. This is the *best* location in Williamsburg. Convenient to the train and lots of cool stuff, but away from the fray that the Bedford/waterfront area has become. Rooms were a good size and had every amenity you would need (a steamer! 😍). Everyone on the staff that I encountered was so friendly. I’ve found that a lot of these boutique-y, instagrammy hotels lack substance - this was totally not the case with Penny. I’ll always stay here now when I come back to Bk!

Have just come back from staying at Penny and it was sadly very disappointing. Will aim to provide a fair review as my intention is only to share my experience of my stay exactly as it was. The location was quite good but all of the shopping is still a good 15 minute walk away. We arrived and we were not greeted by any of the staff as they were all inside by the check-in desk. Even after they saw us they still ignored us. We had several bags and needed to ask them for a bag trolley which they reluctantly provided but did not help us wheel it in or offer to help us bring to the room. One gentleman was nicer but the rest weren’t unfortunately. The room was a pretty good size but the windows don’t open at all and the fan in the bathroom didn’t work so it was incredibly stuffy inside. The bed was really very small and hard. We could hear absolutely everything in the bathroom from couples arguing to a man throwing up all morning. The shower leaked water everywhere and one evening the water turned boiling hot but the night manager offered to let us use the bathroom in a different room which was nice. It felt like they were really trying to get the look right and although it’s very instagrammable it was missing the mark on most of the key elements. If you want a very pretty stay then that’s absolutely fine but for the price and service, it wasn’t up to scratch.

We loved our stay at the Penny while visiting our daughter. The umbrellas certainly came in handy when NY broke records with rain and flooding on our first day there! The room was small but laid out perfectly to maximize the space. I loved the details such as the super modern electric kettle, high quality teas 🤗👏 , comfy bed, beautiful bathroom, fresh oranges and a steamer! We enjoyed drinks each evening on the rooftop and an amazing sunset view. The Penny seems to be on the edge of the heart of Williamsburg. Definitely eat at Reunion nearby! The modern and chic Penny will be our go-to for sure.

Words cannot express how thankful we are for Penny! While in NY my dad had to be taken to the hospital and the entire staff took amazing care of my mom! They all took the time to learn her name, ask how they can help, and ensure her that she would be taken care of. I will always stay at the Penny from this point forward as the truly go above and beyond for their guests!!! Thanks you, thank you, thank you for all your help and hospitality!

We had a great one night stay. Loved the boutique hotel vibe (industrial / hipster) and all the thoughtful touches in the room, including the art and vintage photo books about NYC. Great location near all the hip cafes, bars and restaurants. Clean room and comfortable bed.

Penny Hotel is our only place to stay when visiting our family in Brooklyn. As you walk into the hotel you are greeted with greenery and white! You walk into a separate world. You’re warmly greeted and quickly checked in. Hop on the elevator and get to your floor which opens up to more greenery and beautiful walled art - whimsical, abstract, and more. The hallway and doors are not typical hotel style but seem more homey. This is our second stay and a smaller room but just as nice. We stayed in the suite the first time (we got upgraded and it sold us). This time a smaller room but still clean and despite the size still felt roomy. Loved the steamer. Actually one of the best I’ve ever used. If they sold them there, I would have bought it. If you get a chance to go to rooftop, it’s worth it. Coffee was provided as was the nice touch of oranges. Oh and did I mentioned quiet? The place is quiet! I’m not kidding. You actually can’t tell your in Brooklyn near busy areas. So quiet! It was lovely.

Can't beat the Penny! The rooms are really cute and by NYC standards, spacious! I'm always excited to see the art they have on display. Love having a coffee maker and fridge in the room, and fast internet for working if needed. The staff is always friendly and helpful when we check in or need anything. Nice happy hour at the rooftop bar, and amazing location close to the L train and lots of bars, shops, music venues, and restaurants. This will continue to be my #1 choice for a home base in Brooklyn!

My husband and I stayed here with our large dog for 1 night - the room was so thoughtfully laid out and the staff was so friendly. The rooms are small, but you know that going in as it's on the site. Details like coffee pourovers, nice glassware, robes, dog treats, places to put everything, lighting and mirrors are taken care of. There's a cool restaurant, dog friendly on the roof and a small courtyard in the back of the hotel. There is a small destination fee on the bill that I didn't expect, but everything was so nice that it didn't matter. Also, street parking was a breeze.

Amazing!!! Easily my most enjoyable hotel experience. The hotel was stunning. I felt like I was staying in a contemporary art gallery. In the rooms they thought of everything you could possible need right down to interesting reading material while sipping a morning coffee. I actually later bought one of the books that was in the room. This hotel receives 10 stars for the amenities alone. We stayed here on our wedding night and the front desk staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. On a final note the location is incredible right in the heart of Williamsburg. Tons to do at every turn great shopping, restaurants, cafes and McCarren park. Thank you Penny we will be back!

We loved our one night stay at the Penny! The hotel staff was incredibly accommodating and attentive to our needs from the moment we got there. Special shoutout to Caitlin, one of the managers. I loved the aesthetic of the rooms and the restaurant upstairs, and room was spacious for NYC. The location is walkable if you’d like to explore Williamsburg or easily take the subway to Manhattan. We were sad to check out and wished we had planned more than a one night stay at Penny. I would definitely stay here again!

Penny is an AMAZING hotel. We felt so good, we slept really well, everything is optimized and perfect and trendy and cool. My boyfriend was amazed by the delicious drip coffee in the room. Thanks for everything Penny, we hope to come back soon. (Maybe for our honeymoon in 2025!)

I’ve stayed at 4 other hotels in NYC over the last ten days as I try and find another favorite. This is the one! First, the service! Everyone here I’ve met is just so thoughtful and upbeat. Second, the rooms. It’s perfect. All the little details are considered. Huge towels, glasses for water, the most incredible day bed under the window, a bench and table, yoga mat & foam roller. It’s just so thoughtfully designed. Location is also good. Neighborhood isn’t the cleanest but the hotel is so so so clean and there’s tons of stuff to do near by.

It's rare that I have such a strong feeling about a hotel but PENNY IS AMAZING! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and I really love the design and layout of the room. I wish this was my actual room and I can't wait to come back! I stayed in their smallest room (I think) and it's the perfect size for one person. Might start to get crowded beyond that though. I didn't see any animals but this hotel is pet friendly so bring your doggos here!

Decided to check out NYC for the first time ever, and booked 8 nights in this lovely establishment. In short I had a good time and the rooms are well-designed. A small room is kind of hard to handle comfortably for a long stay like that, but the location really paid off. Being close to subway stops and fun dining let us explore most of the stuff in the city we were curious about. My only real complaints are that the rooms need ventilation and the bed is rather hard. If you forget toiletries, the ones provided are good quality.

The perfect contemporary hotel with everything a couple could need, both in the rooms and with the location itself. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they knew we were on our honeymoon and were kind enough to leave a bag of goodies in our room to celebrate. The room decor is so stylish, and the fresh ground pour-over coffee every morning was a really unexpected treat! The facilities are everything you could hope and more - yoga mats and blocks, steamer, toiletries, sink and microwave in your room - what more could you need?!

You can feel the warmth and the friendliness as soon as you walk in the door.. The environment and the energy remained that way until the end of my stay days later.. The details of the hotel room are well thought out and supportive of many a’ guests need.. while also being immaculately clean.. great views, a jovial rooftop, super close to lots of great food, coffee, bars, shops, and subway stops.. Hotels that commit to creating this kind of inviting energy throughout are hard to come by.. So, Dear Penny, We appreciate You. And we shall see ya next time :)

Penny Hotel was by far the best experience I've had. It was clean, unique, beautiful, and top-tier customer service. The rooms are super cozy and cute. As a film producer, picking the right hotel for your crew is crucial, and we hit the jackpot with Penny. The location was super convenient—walking distance to just about every restaurant and hang-out spot. I wish I could give this place ten stars. If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend staying here. Customer service is important to us and they have it. Super nice staff! Thank you, Penny Hotel, for hosting us. We genuinely appreciate everything! Love Sharrika & Cecilia

Great hotel option for friends and family visiting Brooklyn (I don’t have enough space in my apartment to host them). One drawback that should be highlighted: The showers were not waterproofed, with water leaking out the bathroom and into the entryway of the room (between my family, we got 3 rooms and all of them experienced this issue, even the ADA room). Staff and amenities are excellent. The pillows were so nice that I bought some for my apartment. Great for solo travelers or couples who need a quiet play to sleep but who plan to be out and about most of the time.

BEWARE! Very very slimy hotel staff & overall poor quality hotel. Upon arrival, our sheets had a gigantic tear in them, we requested new ones which one took over an hour to get. After getting the second set, they were stained on multiple spots causing us to request ANOTHER set. This set we didn’t receive til over 6+ hours late as we had to call back and request them again. Surprisingly enough, it took another hour to get our final set of sheets. To our shocking surprise, the third set had a crusty substance on it in addition to MORE TEARS. After giving up on the sheets, we noticed the bathroom water had a white fog to it. If you fill a cup it was actually murky, just disgusting. After checking out, they were kind enough to give us a $30 discount for the trouble which I was fine with and not even expecting to be honest. Well that slightly better feeling lasted all of 12 hours before I realized THEY CHARGED ME $165 FOR A MISSING KETTLE?????!?!? After multiple explanations of how we didn’t even know there was a kettle to begin with, why would we take something we’d know we’d get charged for, etc. they just kept giving a cookie cutter response stating “we found that your guest room was missing said amenity.” I’m not sure what It takes to get through to these people but obviously they have a poor & even shady staff who treat their guests as 2nd priority. DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Really enjoyed my stay at the Penny. With so many hotels in the area, the Penny feels the most authentic to the neighborhood. The fun and colorful art match the vibrancy of the city. The staff made me feel comfortable and were helpful with amazing restaurant recommendations. This is an amazing hotel to suggest in New York. I couldn’t be more pleased with my stay there. I will definitely suggest this hotel!

Loved staying here for two nights. They thought of everything you could need, and I was super impressed by the creative touches like drip coffee and amazing smelling body lotion. There was plenty of space in the room to lay out the yoga mat and get your practice on and I loved the coziness of the bed right up next to the window. Plenty of storage space too! Overall I would definitely come back and recommend it to friends. And of course the location cannot be beat. Staff and service was excellent:attentive, friendly, genuine. Can’t say enough about this hotel and I travel a lot. Enjoy it!

Super cute hotel in a very central location in Williamsburg. My room was clean, comfortable, and had tons of natural light. Each room has a different selection of art and other thoughtful touches (like a yoga mat and pour over coffee). Staff was warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back!

Nice aesthetic, friendly staff, decent location and dog friendly, which is awesome. They even brought our pet a dog bed and bowl. Rooms, while small, were very functional and the hotel has a top-floor restaurant/bar with great views of the city if you need room to breathe. I have to unfortunately agree with the other reviews though: the showers were kind of a disaster, leaking tons of water out into the bathroom every time they were used. Has to be some kind of design flaw? Really made what would have otherwise been a nice stay somewhat of a pain.

Just perfect! Close to two subway stations in a quiet area of Williamsburg. Easy access to Manhattan, but Williamsburg has a lot to offer as well. Cool restaurants, nice craft beer places and lovely spots for breakfast. Check out Other Half at Domino Park or Talea for great beers, L'Industrie for delicious pizza slices and Black Star Bakery & Cafe for breakfast. But hey, you can find most of these recommendations and more in your room. Cleaning was fantastic, rooms well equipped. There was even an umbrella available for those rainy days in spring. Service was top notch. We could leave our luggage at departure day. Using your phone as a mobile key to enter your room was a big plus as well as the coffee in the morning at the reception. Great parks nearby to go for a run. Would love to go back here!

Lovely and cozy hotel in Williamsburg! The staff was super accommodating and helped us get checked in SIX hours early (thanks west coast red eye). The room is tight but it’s awesome that they include a fridge, microwave, sink, cabinets and a closet with drawers! The Fellow-branded coffee amenities were such a nice touch as were the yoga mat, foam roller and block! Large window looked into Williamsburg and didn’t make the room feel claustrophobic. All of the soap, lotion and shampoo/conditioner smelled amazing — love when hotels provide ACTUAL liquid hand soap instead of those useless “body” bars. Highly recommend this hotel and I think it’s very worth the price! Unlike the Hoxton which I think is incredibly overpriced for what you actually get.

Pros: the restaurant staff, vibe and space are all amazing. Really good food, great drinks, lovely view from the top floor, and a very friendly staff. Even if I was not a guest, I would grab a meal at the restaurant. Cons: Seriously the most uncomfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept on. I legit could not get one full night of sleep the three days I was here because of it. I would pick many other hotels in the area over Penny for this reason. The room just feels bare bones — more of a dorm vibe than a hotel. The rooms could be a little cleaner considering; I’ve stayed here twice and I notice a general patina of gunk building the second time around. Not putting this under cons necessarily but just noting that the lobby is TINY; it makes for an awkward check-in if there are more than two small parties trying to navigate the space.

I enjoyed my stay at Penny, but it was expensive for what it is. Pros: Super kind staff, beautifully designed rooms, free bike to use, pour over coffee, and yoga map/brick! Cons: No lobby (there’s a small space that they could put a few comfy places to sit, but its empty), I ordered room service for one: cost me $60 and it came in to-go containers :(

Nicely appointed rooms in convenient location short walk to subway. Smoke detector went off in the middle of the night and front desk used an internal broadcast system to alert guests what was occurring. I only give 4 stars for service because desk said they would tell us what if anything we needed to do next; I don't think the desk did so (though maybe I fell back asleep?).
