After
being
told
I
should
arrive
15
minutes
prior
to
my
9:45
appointment
to
fill
out
paperwork,
I
arrived
at
9:15.
I
went
to
the
front
desk
and
the
receptionist
barely
even
lifted
her
head
and
curtly
told
me
to
"sign
in
and
be
seated."
I
did
so
and
at
9:40
was
given
the
afforementioned
paperwork
to
fill
out.
I
did
so
and
returned
to
my
seat.
At
approximately
10:20
more
than
30
minutes
past
my
scheduled
appointment
I
was
called
back
to
the
desk
and
told
by
the
same
gruff
receptionist
that
I
had
to
pay
$210
for
today's
visit.
I
disagreed
and
said
"your
office
is
in
net-work
so
I
only
have
a
$15
co-pays."
She
then
told
me
that
that
was
my
co-pay
they
were
collecting
my
deductible.
I
explained
that
I've
had
the
same
insurance
for
25
years.
I
have
seen
various
types
of
doctors
from
primary
care,
to
surgeons,
pulminologists,
ENTs,
allergists,
all
kinds
of
specialist
including
other
urologists
for
both
my
family
and
myself
and
never,
ever,
have
I
been
required
to
pay
a
deductible
up
front
or
anything
other
than
my
co-pay
in
network.
She
insisted
that
they
called
the
insurance
company
and
they
said
it
was
required.
I
called
the
insurance
myself
and
was
told
that
was
not
the
fact.
The
customer
service
rep
told
me
the
recommend
to
never
pay
a
deductible
up
front
to
the
provider
because
this
could
cause
issues
with
their
collection
and
payment.
She
said
I
should
only
pay
my
co-pay
and
the
doctor
should
bill
the
rest
to
the
insurance
and
if
there
any
balance
due
it
could
be
billed
to
me
later.
I
was
given
a
regerrefe
number
and
relayed
this
information
to
the
office
staff.
They
insisted
that
this
was
incorrect.
She
asked
if
I
wanted
to
speak
to
the
billing
department,
I
said
yes.
After
relaying
the
above
to
them
and
what
my
insurance
told
me,
I
was
told
that
this
was
an
"office
policy"
so
she
would
contact
my
insurance
again
to
check
it
out
and
call
back
to
let
me
know,
but
since
it
was
the
"office
policy"
I
would
most
likely
have
to
pay
it
or
"make
a
choice".
I
took
a
seat
and
after
another
15
minutes
past,
it
was
now
10:45
a
full
hour
past
my
scheduled
appointment
time,
I
returned
to
the
desk
and
asked
what
the
status
was.
The
receptionist
again
with
her
rude
demeanor
replied,
"
you
have
to
pay
it,
that's
it.".
I
said
"
no
that's
not
it.
I
am
following
the
advice
of
my
insurance
and
not
paying
it.
I've
already
been
sitting
here
for
an
hour
and
a
half.
Cancel
my
appointment,
I'm
leaving
and
you
lost
a
patient.
She
merely
shrugged
and
turned
away.
It
is
important
to
note
at
no
time
prior
to
this
was
I
informed
that
paying
my
full
deductible
prior
to
an
office
visit
was
"office
policy".
I
drove
the
30
minutes
home
and
got
an
appointment
with
a
different
urologist.
This
whole
experience
was
not
only
aggravating
but
wasted
a
whole
morning
of
my
time.
Rude
staff,
ridiculous
wait
times,
and
impractical
policies.
Avoid
them
and
seek
an
office
that
is
more
paripat
friendly!
