I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was certainly not like the 5 star experience that other reviewers before me have had. First of all, tacos are supposed to be an affordable street food. Here they cost between $4 - $5 including tax per taco. Second, if you're getting the bog-standard 2 corn tortilla with a tiny portion of meat, cilantro, and onions for $4 - $5 per taco, that's a rip-off in my book. $15 for 3 tacos from a food truck better have large portions with additional toppings, and no haggling for salsa. That's what 99% of all other taco trucks in the area offer. Third, no prices listed at all for anything, what's with that?? Fourth, if you are going to add a $1 surcharge for using a credit card for payment, not only should it be stated clearly on the truck but also they should inform you while paying. Lastly, if the sign with the surcharge information states "Beginning Sep. 2022, we'll add a $1 surcharge" what's with charging that amount now? Neither the tacos nor the experience is worth it, and there are plenty of other taco trucks that offer better value for money, not to mention better choice, and taste.

The king of taco trucks. The tsar of tacos. The sultan of salsa. This unassuming taco truck parked behind a gas station offers the absolute best tacos I have eaten in the San Jose area - and I have eaten many tacos. Taco trucks are of a high standard around here but this one is special. Try the Califas taco, which has a layer of melted cheese between the two corn tortillas that make up the taco. Not only does it guarantee delicious cheese in every bite, its elastic nature helps to hold the taco together and keep it from breaking. As for fillings, the chicharron is particularly good - spicy enough to get the full flavors, but not so spicy that you can't taste anything else. The atmosphere? None! It's a gas station parking lot! But you'll be in such a taco trance you won't care. Warmly recommended.

Definitely get the chicharrón taco and the Californiana quesadilla, so good! Love that it comes with some jicama on the side. They produce their own horchata in their own bottle!

Ever since moving here from San Jose, I'd admittedly been disappointed with the city's showing for tacos... until now! The meats were very juicy. This is probably one of the few places where I preferred the carne asada over the al pastor (not that the latter was bad, just preference). The location is very convenient too, making it the perfect place to grab a quick lunch or a snack 😋

Super friendly service, even offered a free sample when I asked about the different meats. And absolutely phenomenal tacos. The kind of tacos that make your mouth water. I tried Al Pastor, Chicharon, and Barbacoa and then came back for another because it was so good.

🔥 Just ate here for the first time after driving by the truck waaaaay too many times. This is officially one of the best taco trucks I have ever experienced. I will be back, it’s my new main spot. Thank you for the great service and delicious dinner for my family!

This is the best Mexican in the area!! not only is the food priced well and delicious, but the staff members are so kind. so good with the kids and switched a dish with no problems. the carne asada was so delicious! definitely recommend!

No carna Asda just only rice, 3/4 of buritto is just rice. Taste good but I ordered carna Asda not rice. I don't come back again. I wouldn't recommend this place. Sorry

Great food - their tacos and burritos were delicious. We enjoyed their chicharron tacos. It was as if the spices and ingredients were dancing in my mouth. One of the best-tasting tacos/burritos I have tried. The owner/staff during our visit was friendly, kind, polite, and professional. He was joyful in thanking all people who came by. Highly recommended and would be back for more!

If I could give this 100 stars I would these were the BEST tacos I have ever had!!! And the fact that he gave us (a party of 4) a free drink and a free taco for each of us! OMG these were the best! The man was so sweet! wish we did not live across the country! Be careful if you don’t like spicy food you might want no sauce because our mouths were burning a little! But SO GOOD! Best tacos I have ever had period.

I wanted to try out the best rated tacos in the area, and Califas was nearby. I stopped by soon after they first open and got myself and some friends $100 worth of food to try out different meets and specialty items. Meat was perfectly seasoned, and everyone walked away happy. I'm definitely choosing Califas anytime I'm in the area. Food is just straight fire.

I got the chicharrón burrito -- amazing. Not dry at all. Tacos al pastor were also very good. Great place for a quick eat! The tables are shaded.

First time here & loved it. I got 3 tacos: chicharron, carne asada, and al pastor. Everything was delicious, but the highlight was the chicharron with avocado salsa!

Easily my favorite taco truck around. The employee's are friendly and seem to remember return customers well. The food is great, the tacos califas are by far my favorite. They consist of two tortillas with cheese in between and your choice of meat with toppings and a red or green sauce. Quesadilla is also an excellent choice. Just keep in mind they do use a lot of cheese. Cards are accepted and they do have limited seating at the truck.
