Permit Required. You're also required to pick up after your dog. Hammel Woods is a very large dog park, featuring an open pavilion to give your dogs water and benches for people to sit. Be careful bringing yourself a snack, as you will be surrounded quickly 😂. The grounds are very well maintained, and open year round. The bulk of the grass is kept very short, allowing for easy spotting of where your canine left something for you to pick up. There are a few areas shaped like golf hazards with longer grass they allow to grow wild most of the season. Sadly, there are burrs in there that will hang onto hair, fur, clothes.. So while your dog may have a blast running through these areas, you will have to groom them after. There is a nice wooded area with a path cutting through it. This is especially a great area to go into during hotter summer days, so you can find some shade. The other visitors have been very friendly, and their humans have also been nice to chat with.

Now if this isn't happiness I don't know what is. There are a lot of regular here that are so great to us and you can tell they love their dogs! It's so fun coming here and playing with different breeds

Took my babes to the Dog Park today 🐶 🐾 We found this little path in the midst of the trees 🌲 which she loved! I'm tryin to get my Lulu around other dogs but she kept following me 🤦 It's like, gon girl! Go sniff some canine keister 🐕 and get off mine for awhile 😂 Hopefully if I keep bringing her, she can make some new friends 🥰 I'm definitely open to doggie dates (she's fixed btw 🫤) PS: it's extremely difficult to take pics of your dog looking at the camera!! 📸 If someone can train my lil Lulu, I'll give you season tickets to the gun show 💪😎

Permit required! Nice trails all around if you can't step inside, one leads you down near the DuPage river where you can step in the water. There are two dog parks here, one for small dogs and one for big dogs. The big park is very spacious and one of the nicest dog parks I've been to. The fields are kept very clean. There's lots of different "enrichment" areas for the dogs to explore, like tall grass and a wooded area with a walking path in the middle. The entire park is a big loop and is a great way to practice off leash recall and off leash walking. Great way for both humans and their pups to get a walk in!

Very nice for the little dogs! I spent an hour there with my two young schnauzers and they really enjoyed it. Only wish there were more dogs there today.

Trying to sign up for a simple dog permit, here what needs to be done first: create an account with will county, lots of question and all kinds of verification to make sure you are a human - why not the scammers all want to hack the dog permits, can’t buy the permit on iPhone bc it doesn’t support it,so you need to use laptop, ask the color of the dog , name of dog, your drivers license number, and the rabbis shot number - not one but two rabies shot number - dog fully vaccinated but don’t have the numbers handy - so I just gave up. I try to play by the rules but really. I just want to walk my fully vaccinated dog in your park and even pay but you make it very hard.

We've been going to this dog park for over 5 years. You do need a pass but it's absolutely worth it as I've seen many new features go in over the years. The park was originally a single large fenced in area, with a covered section with seats. There are poop bags available in different areas at the park and garbage cans to dispose of it. The grass is kept mowed and the brushy vegetation is trimmed. In fact today we were commenting that the grass looks great even with all the dog traffic. In the past 5 years they have added more seating under the covered section, added a separate park for smaller dogs, and made a water fountain available for filling containers for the dogs. I've also seen the park ranger come by to check on things a few times. My dog knows the phrase 'dog park' and goes nuts until we arrive. He really loves it!

A cool park. Most people here are really nice (a notable exception is the lady who yells whenever another dog acts playful around her dogs. People know to avoid her and just roll their eyes when she yells, “Whose dog is this?!,” as if her dogs are aren’t the most wild-acting of all dogs there). It would be nice if they had better bathrooms than the outhouse-style one they have. So far, we haven’t had any bad experiences with aggressive dogs, though there are occasionally dogs that play too rough, so we try to stay on top of the risk.

Our dogs love it here, especially when it is wet (ugh). It has a very large area for our dogs. Nice open area, taller grass areas and trees.

We have been members of this dog park for about 7 years now. My dog loves going here, what dog wouldn't, and the place is always maintained & neatly trimmed. Most people who visit are really nice but I have heard from others that there are some people who are just straight up mean. Luckily I have yet to witness this. Worth the yearly fee for my pups enjoyment!

Judging by the smile I would say he is loving being back at the park. Nice to see the ground were mowed before opening day

2 Huskies viciously attacked a golden retriever. The owner of the Huskies was sitting up at the entrance talking to people and not paying attention to his vicious dogs. They should not be allowed in the dog park again. The golden was bleeding. We cut our visit short along with a lot of other people who left park after that incident. We own a Golden. We won't go to that dog park ever again. We found a safer place.

There are so many things one can do in Hammel woods, from hiking the nature trails to picnicking at one of the several shelter areas, the options are limitless! You can park at one end of the park, walk to the other end and back, at your own pace, is less than 3.5 miles round-trip (there are a couple inclines in between, but nothing too wild). If you reach the end of the dog park, you might meet some cute and very well-behaved dogs. 🐕

**You do need a permit to use the dog park** I don't use the dog park since I don't want to get a permit However, the trail around the park and by the river is nice to walk. The dog park seems like its well kept and set up very dog friendly.

This was a first time experince for my Fiance, my two dogs and I. It was the absolute best experince we have ever had. All the other parents were very nice. The dogs were so well behaved and having the time of there life. My boys have never broke out of there shell so quickly. One of my boys has huge issues opening up he gets nervous and barks. He actually tried to play with the other dogs and I was so surprised and happy. We can't wait to come back!

Nice big park with plenty of room to run. The park is beautiful. Unfortunately a few dogs there were growling and barking at my friendly pup and we felt unwelcome so we didn't stay long.

This dog park is amazing! Our dogs absolutely love it. Super clean and a great place to socialize dogs. We have met some really awesome people and pups.

Open fenced in space (2 large separate areas) where dogs can run free. Ample size parking lot with a modern outhouse. Can also access hiking trails from the parking lot.

A great park, with areas accommodating for both large and small dogs, to get exercise and socialize.
