Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club is hands down one of my favorite gyms I have visited. The coaching has the technical details that rival places like Phuket Grappling Academy in Thailand. The training partners are a blast to roll with. I love that the environment focuses on helping each other improve and avoiding injuries. Lastly, the 5+ showers, high quality gym amenities, and cleanliness is truly top-notch. Can’t wait for the next time I come back.

Extremely welcoming learning environment with kind instructors and members. Very beginner friendly, everyone is extremely punctual and easy to approach. Hygiene is also taken very seriously, mats are cleaned regularly as to prevent the spread of germs.

I’ve been going for a few weeks now and Downtown Jiu Jitsu is a great club. Everyone was extremely welcoming, from the coaches to the other participants. It’s a relaxed atmosphere focused on self improvement and learning. Could not have asked for a better place to learn self defense and self improvement!

The instructors we're very welcoming and coach Solo even rolled with me which in my book is an A+!!! There are lots of great places to begin or continue your Jiu Jitsu journey in Chicago, but i'd have to say Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club is one of the best place to do it! The professor and coaches are knowledgeable and always willing to help you with your game. Everyone is very nice and great training partners with variety of skill levels and body type. Not to mention the great facility with lots of amenities - showers, towel service, weight training & cardio equipment.

Dropped in for two days from out of town. It was a great experience. The coaches were very good and took their time to coach me and train with me. The training partners were fantastic as well. The facilities are also very clean. Overall, I’d recommend this gym to anyone visiting or anyone looking for a gym in the Chicago area.

Did a 7am drop-in class at Downtown Jiu Jitsu and had a great time. Everybody was super friendly and the instructor was great. I had to cancel my initial booking and they were totally flexible with me attending at another time. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Chicago!

Recently moved in to the city and choosing a new gym was going to be difficult, or so I thought. The staff goes above and beyond to make this a real "Jiu-jitsu club". Efforts to renew and upgrade their facilities are clear all the time: from new mats to air purifiers, professional grade lifting equipment to even an awesome arcade machine for people to hang around before or after class. Seminars by legends like Royce Gracie to even guest coaches for multiple classes to the likes of Clark Gracie and Cole Miller have been some of my favorite moments since I started training and goes to show how connected and respected our main black belt, Adem Redzovic, is in the bjj community. On top of that (and probably more important) all coaches are amazing instructors and even better people. This is clearly reflected into all training partners which show an amazing level of respect, competition and camaraderie. A wide range of color belts and levels attend every class with schedule options from early in the morning, lunch time, evening and even weekends (classes and open mats on both Saturday and Sunday). I'm truly grateful to have found this great place.

As a woman attending the Jiu Jitsu class, I can confidently say that I feel incredibly welcomed in this environment. The atmosphere is inclusive, and the instructor and fellow students are respectful and supportive. It's empowering to be part of a community that encourages everyone to learn and grow together. I'm excited to continue my journey in Jiu Jitsu with such a welcoming and encouraging group.

Have been coming since Feb of this year and love it! I checked out a couple other gyms in the area before signing up here. The decision came down to it being a clean, larger gym, and the coaches being great. I am a petite female and have felt comfortable working with both women and men here.

This is Professor Adem Redzovic's school, a third degree Black Belt under Carley Gracie. He is an accomplished competitor, a gifted instructor, and a warm and gracious human being. He has devoted his energy into creating a school that offers high quality instruction and world-class facilities that cater specifically to jiu-jitsu training and recovery. The environment is warm, welcoming and friendly and the school makes a deliberate effort to foster a healthy culture. Whether you are looking to begin your jiu-jitsu adventure or are looking for a new gym that offers more, I think you've found it.

Walking out of the elevator into the academy you can tell right away it is a first class place. It not only looks clean but it smells clean (Huge Bonus). The instructors are patient and accommodating. Adem Redzovic is one of the greatest instructors in the country so to have him in Chicago is awesome. Stay and get a workout in w the new weight and cardio set up as well. The mints sitting by the check-in kiosk are just another example of their attention to detail. You are reading this to make a decision to check it out or not.....check it out!

I visited Downtown Jiu Jitsu from all the way from nyc and it was an wonderful experience. Professor Sy created a comprehensive lesson based on the student’s needs. The students were very inquisitive with Professor Sy answering their questions in a practical matter. After the lesson, there were rounds of fun rolls.

I have had the pleasure of training with Adem on several occasions over the years and had visited his previous academy as well. I was recently in town for a few days and was able to visit this new gym on a Saturday for open mat. The facility was very clean and and well-layed out, to include multiple mat spaces, weight training area, and several changing rooms and showers. The staff and the students I was able to train with were extremely welcoming. The vibe of everyone there was what exactly what I would want from a team. One bonus on that Saturday, was they had coffee and donuts for all the members!

It's the right place to train in Chicago. I was welcomed by the team as part of the group although it was the first time they saw me. Doug helped me orient myself in the gym divided between tatami mats and weight room. Adem was available to answer to any questions during the lesson I attended. Also I suggest to check their merchandaising, graphics are awsome. These guys know what they're doing. THANKS!

Had an awesome time training at Downtown Jiu Jitsu as a visitor from Seattle. The students were a great group of people to roll with. Adem is terrific. He is generous with his time, and I really liked how he makes sure we don't forget big picture concepts, and not just learn techniques. Will roll here whenever I am in Chicago!

Adem is a world class instructor. Always willing to share his knowledge. This gym’s ability to bring in professionals from UFC and Jiu Jitsu pioneers is incomparable to any other gym. If you want to be trained by the top skilled grapplers I suggest signing up!

Adem and his staff are not only great BJJ instructors, but additionally better people, period. Want to learn from the best, and learn how to apply the lessons back into your own lives, this is the place to be. I truly believe I am becoming a better person because of my time within this community. Thank you Adem!

Adem has created an awesome space that is growing an even better BJJ community. I was in town for work and just came for a drop in class. Adem and the students welcomed me in to the class and provided great training. The class included drilling, but also provided philosophies of BJJ which deepens the understanding of the patterns a grappler needs to continue making progress. I highly recommend checking out the Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club.

I get to train with some of the greatest partitioners of jiujitsu in the entire world here at DJJC. I also get to spend time with one of the best communities on the planet. You won’t find a better group of people anywhere in the world. Come train. Come network. Come connect with other humans in meaningful way towards your goals of personal development!

Dropped in to the 7am class with Professor Adam. Great instruction based on concepts instead of individual moves, welcoming students, and a very nice and clean facility. Very cool vibe and great way to start off the day.

Fantastic location and gym. Clean showers and bathrooms with wonderful weightlifting area and nice mat space. Visiting from Florida and was welcomed with open arms by the students and instructors. Solomon was great and I got to meet Adem as well, very personable guys. Absolutely worth visiting and I believe a good place to begin a bjj journey as well.

Did a drop in from out of town. Was greeted by professor Solo. Super nice and welcoming. No egos, great technique. The gym is located in a nice area, VERY clean. In addition, they have showers and towels ready to go which was a huge plus. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by.

Absolutely top notch! This is the place you want to be, whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experienced competitor. The facility is clean and offers lots of amenities - including showers, towel service, weight training and cardio equipment. Most importantly the community of members create a warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s clear that Professors Adem and Solomon cultivate an environment where all are welcome, and all are challenged to become the best version of themselves through the art of Jiu Jitsu. With the wide variety of skill levels and body types amongst the students there’s ample opportunity for anyone to fit in.

I have nothing but positive things to say about downtown jiu jitsu club. Over the past year and a half I have felt nothing but welcomed. I am the youngest member at just 16 years old. I get treated the exact same as everyone else. It’s really a special place. The overall atmosphere and environment is just something truly unique. It’s a very clean, structured, and organized place. They put their member first no matter what. It’s a wonderful place I highly recommend checking out. If you want to train and feel welcomed with open arms this is the place to go.

I have been training at Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club since August and have nothing but good things to say about the club, instructors, and other members. The classes are informative and challenging. The community is respectful and encouraging; pushing each other to continue to grow and develop. I would strongly recommend the club to anyone looking for a BJJ gym and community.
