My best friend and I stayed June 30 to July 2. We were greeted warmly by Gemma. At least 2 to 3 days before our arrival, she asked for our arrival time so that she would be prepared. She gave us a map and suggestions of what to do and where to eat. We did some of her suggestions and were impressed. The room was amazing. We stayed in room 5. There were 2 skylights, a great bed, a small table with 2 chairs, a hot kettle, and a variety of teas. The bathroom was luxurious with a shower that had 10 jets. It was also air conditioned and you could control the temperature yourself. The B&B is on the top floor. There are 4 floors, but the elevator only goes to 3. It was tough with the luggage, but so worth it. DON'T be fooled by the entrance. You enter through the garage. If I ever make to Naples again, this is the only place I will stay. Thank you for an amazing experience.

La Gemma is wonderful, both the B&B and the woman. Gemma is the perfect host - warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. She will give you an overview of the major tourist destinations and some local tips. If your interests lie out of the ordinary, she probably knows about it already or she’ll look it up for you. In the evening or at breakfast she will ask about your day with genuine interest. My room was perfect. Comfortable bed with quality linens, plenty of space for two bags. Dependable and fast WiFi, powerful air conditioning, and a really cool skylight with multiple shade and opening settings. The bathroom was perfectly clean and functional. In particular I love that the shower had a hand held and a rainfall shower head (and simple controls for hot/cold water). The breakfast spread of fruit, breads, and pastries alongside various spreads rivaled any larger hotel. Coffee was brewed fresh when you presented yourself and served with an energy you won’t find elsewhere in Napoli. The location in Piazza Dante is perfect for exploring. You can walk to the city center and major sites easily. The main train station (to visit Vesuvio, Ercolano, Pompeii, or further south) is easily walked. The port for ferries to Ischia and Capri is downhill and easily walkable even with a bag packed for the beach with food and water. If you are traveling with a +1 or very heavy bags, take up Gemma’s offer to have private transfer from the airport. It takes just 30 minutes compared to 90 minutes and costs only a few Euros more. Take it from someone who schlepped a small roller bag onto a bus packed like sardines, across Piazza Garibaldi and cobblestone streets, and up and down several flights of stairs in the Metro. You will need to climb some stairs to reach the B&B.

Don't even think about trying to find it without Fabio showing you where the door is. Three flights of stairs are no big deal, not even for a fat guy with bad knees like me. Gemma's cakes in the morning are incredible. Mostly vegan, but even a serious carnivore like me absolutely loved them. The shower is a bit small. We got used to it. Again, the only place we will stay in Napoli.

The apartment was very quiet at night despite being centrally located at Piazza Dante! It was super convenient to get around the city from there, within walking distance to all the main sites such as Via dei Tribunali, Spaccanapoli, and the Spanish quarter. We had a fantastic stay at La Gemma and I would return without hesitation! Gemma was a wonderful host: friendly, informative, welcoming. The room itself was spacious, bathroom was huge, and very quiet despite being fully booked. Breakfast included was wonderful. We were grateful for the tiny manual elevator that was a breeze to navigate with only a few steps which were no problem at all. Our slight disappointment was that the rooftop terrace was not in use due to a grumpy neighbour, but we’ve all had one of those before. Location is fantastic - once we got to La Gemma we didn’t use the metro again. Everything was incredibly walkable. Thank you Gemma!!
