Beautiful basilica with two facades: one facing the piazza and the main facade reached via a courtyard at the opposite side of the church. Impressive works of art inside, including a chapel filled with spectacular frescoes by Pietro Cavallini (early 14th cent.).

This church is wonderful monument of medieval culture and architecture. There unimaginably many tombs of local aristocracy with effigies of deceased in full suits of armor. Admission is free but any donation is welcomed and highly appreciated. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.

Take a deep breath before entering this church. You are certainly going to need. Huge, amazing, full of things to see and take pictures. I strongly recommend that you take the ticket to check de monastery and clothing sectors. Reserve at least one full hour of your time schedule to check around.

For tourists: gorgeous interior, with richly ornamented ceiling and a side chapel of beautiful 700-year-old frescoes by Pietro Cavallini. For the pious: I'm sure it is an inspiring place to pray!

An unexpected beautiful hidden gem in Naples with stunning architecture and artwork. Possibly the most impressive church in the area apart from the Duomo. Would highly recommend visiting. Free entry too.

Amazing. 10/10. I tried to buy tickets online 3 separate times and it didn’t work. I really wanted to see St. Thomas Aquinas’ room and work and I am from USA and wanted to for sure see it. However, my wife and I went in and it was €7 each to see his room, his work, his bone, and a cross he owned. Well worth the price. The actual church is free. They let you video/photo the whole time. Well worth it. 10/10. Simply amazing.

The woman met us in the entrance and said that we can come in only after donation, however here it says that it’s free

I went early in the morning around 10AM, and I was surprised how beautiful and peaceful it was, especially with the sun passing through the colourful glass.

Completed in 1324, Basilica San Domenico Maggiore resides near "Spaccanapoli" in the historic center of Naples, and containing both an older church plus a monastery nicely represents the Gothic style with well preserved works of art and tremendous detailing throughout its fairly small interior.

Beautiful. But if comparing to all the ancient attractions in Naples, it is more outstanding to see the attractions that are 3K years old.
