We were visiting Philadelphia from Germany and were looking for a delicious restaurant. We were positively surprised in some restaurants and goods how delicious the food was and we all got full. The exceptional kitchen with a Slavic is very impressive and highly recommended. The Resturant just looks great and the pictures are amazing, we haven't seen this combination before and Germany is very versatile and creative when it comes to restaurants. When we visit again, we hope to try other dishes there

Interesting prix fixe Menu has good dining selections for each course and the pricing is reasonable. Portions are decorated with tiny colorful flowers. There is an eclectic vibe with an undercurrent of do not stay too long.

I like this place, but I don't love this place. The food was good, not amazing. The cocktails were very good. Unfortunately the place was very loud, almost every table was speaking louder than necessary, one table of women behind us were screaming. This could possibly attribute to me not loving the atmosphere as much.

This is a great place. My sister and I went in to have a nightcap. The general manager who was very friendly offered us some deviled eggs which we enjoyed. It was close to closing time so we left but came back two days later to try out some other food items. We were extraordinary please! The spiced cauliflower was absolutely delicious. The shrimp cocktail had a special sauce that was very light not-too-hot it was just perfect. They have some great cocktails on the menu. The staff is super friendly very kind wonderful atmosphere and we will definitely be making this one of our regular places to stop.

Stopped in for a drink and ended up getting a small plate and a main as well. I love their drinks! Met the bar manager and she’s super friendly and enthusiastic. Even if you aren’t hungry, stop in and try Lauren’s drinks!! Looking forward to trying more!

This is a great spot for a bourgeois fine-dining experience with an Eastern European twist. The interior is sleek and fancy. The service is great. The vibes are generally calm. We ordered cocktails, a few appetizers, and two entrèes. The portions are on the modest side, but definitely not tiny. The cocktails are great and pretty strong. Monika’s Pierogies are a must have. The Crispy Cauliflower surprised me, I really enjoyed that. The octopus was very good. The burrata salad was refreshing with the seasonal produce. My gf had the Atlantic Halibut and she enjoyed it. I had the 28 Day Dry Aged Steak medium rare which turned out nice. For desserts, the key lime tart was ok, and the cheesecake was very good (not too sweet, which is how I liked it). All in all, Aleksandar was nice experience and I recommend it for those who want quaint bougie vibes.

Went for brunch on a Saturday recently. The restaurant itself is beautiful while the staff was friendly and attentive. I had the French toast with berries and an espresso martini. The martini was good but the French toast was perhaps the best I’ve ever had. My friend had the chicken and waffles and very much enjoyed it. Definitely recommend for breakfast and hope to try the dinner menu here soon.

We joined them for brunch on Saturday. The entry to the space is unassuming it it's nicely decorated inside. We were seated right away. We waited a few minutes for our server as there was a little confusion in what section we were seated. But the service was good and it wasn't a major issue. We both had the Eggs Benedict with short ribs. It was very good though the muffin was a bit too firm for my friend's liking. The cracked potatoes were very good. They were hot and trastes great.

The ambiance is beautiful and service was great, but the food was disappointing. It feels like the food/menu lacked execution. The portions were also much larger than expected, which isn't necessary a bad thing if the food was good. The bread... the bread was dry and haphazardly thrown on the plate. I may be in the minority but I felt brusselsprouts were soggy, the vegetable doesn't need all of the sweet dressing. The scallops were beautifully plated, wish we could say it tasted as good as it looked. The short ribs pasta was ok I couldn't eat more than 2 bites.

My friends and I went here for New Year’s Eve dinner and it was a major letdown in terms of the food and service. We did the Chef’s Tasting Menu ($120/person) and the additional wine pairing ($90/person). With a price point this high, I expected the food, service, and overall experience to be of quality, especially for a NYE dinner. The Chef’s Tasting Menu was a five-course meal, which was SUPPOSED to be paired with five different wines. However, each course did NOT come paired with a wine. We actually got to the last course (dessert) and were still missing three wines, which is unacceptable. Even worse, our waiter rudely put down the check on the table and even acknowledged that we still had three wines coming and was just leaving the check in the meantime. I had two big problems with this. 1. How does a food establishment expect its diners to pay WITHOUT serving all food/drinks that were promised? 2) It seemed like we were being rushed out when we had made a reservation for a HOLIDAY DINNER. The shift manager or GM came to pick up our checks shortly after, and we expressed that we were still waiting for our last three wines (and that our waiter was aware of this). The shift manager or GM apologized and told us that our remaining drinks would be coming out right away. He then asked us if we could move to the bar area in the meantime, which we absolutely refused since again, we had made a table reservation for NYE dinner! It wasn’t our fault that our drinks were slow to arrive, and now we were being asked to move to the bar area to free up space essentially? Absolutely not. The shift manager or GM was apologetic again and said that part of our checks would be comped. This did NOT happen. He came back later with our three remaining wines, which included the Moet rose champagne (listed as the fifth course wine pairing). However, he very enthusiastically expressed that the mini Moët champagne bottles were on the house for the poor service when the MOËT CHAMPAGNE IS PART OF THE WINE PAIRING MENU THAT WE PAID FOR. This “nice gesture” was basically a scam. Lastly, overall, the food was not good. The Norwegian king crab that I had for my first course was very over cooked to the point that the crab’s texture was rubbery. The knife could barely cut through it. I got the sea urchin bucatini for my third course, and the noodles were sticking together and clumpy, which again is completely unacceptable. The wild stripped bass (fourth course) tasted very gamey and unseasoned to the point that my friends and I could not eat the course at all. The only quality course was the second course, specifically the scallops. Between courses, silverware was not replenished efficiently. Multiple times, our courses were served with no silverware. We physically could not eat until we got the attention of our waiter and requested for silverware. In addition, a worker spilled a glass of water at our table, which got all over my coat. My friends and I were very disappointed with our experience here and would not recommend this place at all. We left with a bad taste in our mouth (literally and figuratively).

The food was well prepared but I'm not sure if the value is good. I liked every dish I tried, thought the portions could have been a little bigger. Our service was friendly but not very prompt, I usually don't complain about slow waiters but this was excessively slow. Ironically, our busser was exceptional, cleared the plates promptly but not too soon (he waited until we had both eaten everything on our plates) and refilled our waters constantly. We both thought that he should have been our waiter! The alcohol seems a little overpriced and I didn't know that they have an almost completely different menu for restaurant week! I left wondering about how our experience compares to their regular menu. As an example, I have attached two pictures of my lamb chop. It was prepared excellently, looks beautiful, and all the side vegetables tasted great too but the lamb chop was 50% fat and is the majority of a 3-course $60 restaurant week deal, including a salad & tiramisu. The meal didn't feel like a good deal, I'm not sure if we are going to return.

I really enjoyed my time here because their service was awesome. I felt well taken care of and like my every need was met. The ambiance of this place was beautiful. Really elegant and laid back. They took our coats and hung them up. They wiped our table in between meal, gave us new silverware, and never made us have to ask for water. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, suggesting several mocktails to us when we told him we aren’t drinking. Our food was delicious, though maybe it could’ve been a bit warmer. The flavors were unique and fun. Overall a great experience with tentative staff and filling food.

Visited this restaurant near Rittenhouse Square during winter restaurant week. Pleasantly surprised as it exceeded my expectations. Despite my usual perception of overpriced places in the area, both the service and food were excellent. Appreciated the thoughtful touch of taking my winter jacket to avoid crowding around the table. Highly recommended!

I'm not one to write reviews but I absolutely love this place and need to share it! There food is awesome and since they have a season menu, I get to try new and interesting things. The owner, Aleks, is super nice + helpful which makes it a great experience. Most recentlty, I got the duck, which was unexpectedly paired with banana bread. At first, I was a bit skeptical, but the combination turned out to be a delightful surprise. The flavors blended together in a super unique way. My friend ordered the scallops, and they were a hit! For appetizers I highly recommend the pierogies and tartar! I wholeheartedly recommend this place for anyone living in or visiting Philly. 5/5

If I could rate higher I would. An absolute amazing dining experience from the unique and cultural diverse cuisine to the nicest servers and busers ever. The ambience inside is modern elegant and romantic. We tried pierogies, cauliflower app, froie de gras and Fritzy spritz cocktail and it was all so flavorful! And beautiful presentation. Would recommend to everyone. They host a variety of events from happy hours to drag brunches to lunch and brunch!

I had an excellent time at Restaurant Aleksander! We enjoyed several dishes - brioche buns, pierogies, foie gras toast, duck breast, scallops, key lime tart, pot de creme. Everything was well prepared, well plated and tasted delicious! More than enough food for two people. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect. Social and classy. Situated at a great location off Rittenhouse Square. Artwork here is amazing! The waiter & bartender (I believe his name is Noah) was very friendly and checked in on us. Gave us some pointers on what to order. The Head Chef is awesome! Great guy doing excellent work as a young chef in the city. He is leading a great team. I will definitely be back here!

I’m so pleased with my dining experience during the evening of 4/18/23 at Restaurant Aleksander. As an out of towner (even state-r), I was delighted to finally dine at this restaurant. The ambience and atmosphere was nice. The waiter was kind, shared details on menu items, and made himself available to ask any questions. We had tasty mocktails. Waiter frequently visited our table to ask of our food satisfaction. The meals are five star. We ordered numerous small plates, large plates, and desserts. Head Chef goes above and beyond to provide high quality service. Head Chef demonstrates excellence, knowledge, and passion in his work as presentation and quality of the food was A-1! We appreciate our dining experience!

This place is like a hidden gem around Rittenhouse Sq Park. The menu has happy hour and regular dinner menu options. Nice selection of beer, wine and hard liquor. They also have a Serbian tradition plum brandy, which is my favorite! (Must try if you never had it before!) Our server was Emily and she was knowledgeable about the menu, and her description of the food was spot on as well her recommendations. We had beef tartar, pirogies, Duck Brest and Pork chops. We didn’t have any wine but we heard the restaurant sommelier, helping a table next to us to order a bottle of wine. Overall 10/10 and looking forward to be back!

Such a great experience. Came here on my first trip to Philly and it was hands down one of the best meals i’ve had in a long time! I was blown away by how fresh and delicious each course was. Cocktails were yummy too. Server made the best recommendations! Great ambiance, candle lit tables with exquisite decor. They have a really cute outdoor dining area too! 10/10 can’t wait to come back.

Tried this restaurant out for the first time during restaurant week, it is what you would expect at a restaurant with quality food but It wasn’t out of this earth, for the price that is on their regular menu I probably won’t return, but it was a nice meal for restaurant week. The service was great, being vegetarian, I had misunderstood that the miso soup was suitable for plant based folks and so did the waitress but she went to check with the kitchen and informed me a couple of minutes later that it was not. Appreciated the fact that the menu have other choices marked vegetarian/vegan when appropriate. Perogies were stuffed well and I enjoyed the atmosphere but that was about it. I don’t think it’s worth the price for their regular options, there are better valued options in the area.

My husband and I came with our baby during a busy Saturday lunch. The staff was so kind, the food was quick, and the vibes were wonderful! Highly recommend the squash soup and short rib. I came again on my own so I could eat without my child haha.

We went to celebrate our Anniversary and ended up showing up at 6:15 though our reservation was not until 6:45. They were so friendly and helpful and allowed us to sit early. From the hostess to meeting another super fan of Harry Potter to our server, the whole experience was amazing. Normally I would be embarrassed to admit but if there is ever a way to say a place blows you away it’s when you are brought to literal tears after finishing your meal. If you want a great experience with a spectacular menu look no further than Aleksandar. We will be forever customers ♥️

Beautiful little restaurant in the center of Philly with a great menu filled with seasonal goodies!! Every dish we ordered was delicious and very well prepared. We ordered a la carte but would definitely try the pre fix next time to get more of a taste of the chef's recommendations. Very pleasant staff!! Thank you for a wonderful evening!! PS...loved the art work!! 😊😊

Had a truly superb meal here while visiting Philly. It's a beautifully decorated space, and I sat at a table where you could look into the kitchen and watch the cooks prepare your food. Started with a delicious and rich pumpkin soup spiced with cardamon, followed by a unique duck dish with mini-beignet, greens and huckleberries, complimented by a lovely Beaujolais. Attentive service. Not inexpensive but well worth it.
