My
wife
was
very
active
and
fit
up
to
9th
month
and
took
all
necessary
precautions.
A
few
days
before
the
scheduled
delivery
date
they
performed
sonography
and
concluded
that
the
fluids
were
low
and
we
needed
to
go
for
a
cesarian.
This
sonography
was
performed
by
Dr.
Sameer
Chandratrey
in
under
a
minute.
(Each
of
our
previous
scans
at
other
hospitals
always
took
at
least
15minutes).
This
seems
to
be
a
common
occurrence
at
this
hospital
where
the
Sonography
technicians
and
doctors
always
say
fluids
are
less
and
create
panic
among
parents
pushing
them
to
go
for
a
cesarian.
On
the
day
of
delivery,
we
were
told
there
is
no
NST
machine
to
check
the
baby’s
condition
before
labour.
We
understand
that
this
is
basic
equipment
which
would
have
greatly
helped
us.
In
the
delivery
room,
the
umbilical
cord
was
cut
before
the
baby
cried
and
the
baby
was
quickly
shifted
to
another
room
and
not
given
any
skin-to-skin
contact
with
the
mother.
Dr.
Nivedita
herself
was
not
sure
if
the
baby
had
cried
or
not,
and
asked
the
other
staff
in
the
room
about
the
same.
In
the
other
room,
the
resident
paediatrician
Dr.
Prasanna
Wagh
was
absent
and
his
assistant
was
sent
to
look
at
the
baby.
They
concluded
that
the
baby
had
ingested
meconium
and
needed
oxygen
support.
They
told
us
the
baby
needed
to
be
shifted
to
Prasanna
Balrugnalaya.
The
baby
was
transported
in
a
personal
car
WITHOUT
any
oxygen
support
and
no
AMBULANCE.
(We
now
know
how
risky
this
was).
At
Prasanna
Balrugnalay,
we
were
not
allowed
to
see
the
baby
and
nobody told
us
what
was
happening.
The
baby
was
said
to
be
in
serious
condition
and
we
were
told
we
needed
to
give
steroid
injections.
We
shifted
our
baby
to
a
different
hospital
where
the
baby
had
to
be
kept
in
NICU
for
2
weeks
and
we
are
fortunate
that
he
recovered.
Even
a
day’s
delay
would
have
caused
the
unthinkable.
The
facilities
for
scans
at
Nivedita
Hospital
are
not
up
to
the
mark,
moreover,
the
staff
and
doctors
using
them
seem
to
be
incapable.
They
seem
to
push
for
a
cesarian
and
have
tie-ups
with
hospitals
like
Prasanna
Balrugnalay
for
motives
other
than
the
patients
well
being.
Overall
we
had
a
very
scary
experience
and
our
baby
has
found
it
difficult
to
breastfeed
due
to
the
hospitalisation
and
trauma.
We
would
not
recommend
this
hospital
and
doctor
to
anyone
we
know.
