Wonderful experience! Tickets are worth the experience Ideal time is to go in morning so you can complete the whole zoo by late afternoon. Avoid going on public holidays and weekends as there is too much rush. The place is neat and well maintained, water filter is kept on multiple spots, there are clean washrooms 🚻 which are accessible ♿ The staff is helpful. There are many play areas for kids with slides and swings for different age group. It's amazing to watch the animals and penguins are really adorable. There is a nursing area in the beginning. Multiple spots to sit ate made around the zoo. There is a canteen Inside where they serve fast food, cold drinks and beverages. Ideal for kids, There is information board in every spot, fun facts about different animals and birds. Must visit the Aqua birds section to watch Amazing birds. There is a museum inside as well.

A spacious zoo with impressive infrastructure, this place ensures a comfortable visit with ample washrooms and convenient drinking water and food facilities. While diverse, more animal additions could enhance the experience. The reasonable ticket prices make it an accessible outing for all.

Amazing Experience we visited the zoo after a long time and I must say the zoo has changed a lot. Now their are many places for the senior citizens to sit, all the cages are renovated, the animals are active and happy. The entry Fees is just Rs 50 for an adult. Best time to visit zoo is after 11 on weekdays . On weekends the zoo is full of people . Seeing Penguins 🐧was very good. It is a very nice place to spent your day with your family and friends.

Good management... Lots of parking.. multiple outlets for snacks where you can get samosa, burger, coffee, tea, pizza etc. Ample sitting places, kids play area, gardens, toilets, drinking water etc.. Good experience for kids as they get to see tiger, bear, elephant, hippo, hyna , leopard, Penguins, turtles, birds etc. Ticket rates are reasonable.. you can book it online so that you don't have to wait in line, just visit the ticket printing kiosk and get the print of your ticket. It will take around 2.5 to 3 hrs for complete your of this zoo.

Most awesome experience with family and friends. One full day from morning 10.00 to evening 5.00 is much sufficient for enjoying all the animals here. The top most spectacle is to see the tiger. That was so thrilling. such a good feeling. And we have much more animals to see here. And the most special one is penguin. So rare to see them here. The whole place is clean and well maintained. Wednesday is holiday. Try as much to visit the place on a week day that too as early as possible. Try to enter the park at 10.00 am. So that all the things can be seen till 3.00 pm. Then relax and leisure for upto 2 to 3 hrs till 5 or 6 pm. That's my idea of advise. Good memories.

Nice place to hang around with your toddler. The botanical garden and zoo is in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. Yet so green, clean and well maintained. Elephant, beer, Tiger, deer, Hippopotamus, birds, turtles and not to forget Humboldt penguins are the main attractions apart from the flora. There are 2-3 small restaurants as well inside the zoo. well equipped with staff, nicely maintained. The only thing I missed nearby is the small souvenir shop.

Great place to spend Sundays! Children would love it, as they can see lots of wild animals roaming freely in their cage areas. The animals have plenty of space to stay happily. The management has taken great efforts to maintain cleanliness & discipline. Great for children and family groups.

They are still renovating but I think 90% is done (Crocodile and Lion enclosures are still being constructed).. Parking is available and only 20rs.. Ticket price also low (50 rs per adult and 25 for kids).. No charge for phone camera (100rs for DSLR camera).. Must say they have done a good job at renovating the zoo.. Looks modern and has a lot of open space.. Main attraction is obviously the penguins!! Your kids will love it.. Update: The zoo is currently under phase 3 of renovation and has acquired 10 acres of more land to add animals like Cheetah, Gorilla, Zebra, Giraffe, Monkey etc.. So hopefully under a couple of years it'll be fully renovated!

Zoo has a beautiful garden, lush green everywhere, variety of trees, so much to see and absorb but during the weekend it was too crowded around the spots to view zoo animals and crowd was not controlled like the way it is managed to view Penguins. One easily needs more than an hour or 2 to view all what has been placed here. Do take online tickets, process is simple to buy it online. There was a long queue for tickets.

The place is wonderful and lovely so far as garden is concerned. We may not call it zoo as numbers of animals and birds are very less. Some animals like lion, hyenas are not there. There should be more animals in the zoo but there might some limitations for increasing the numbers of animals in the zoo. But you can enjoy the place for 3-4 hours with children. Don't go on Sundays and holidays there would be much crowd. There are two canteens inside the park and the food is costly. Prefer to book tickets online as it may reduce your time to get entry.

Great place for children as well as parents and total family. As per my experience please avoid to go in afternoon because all animals are doing rests and in evening convert into crowded one.so I strongly recommend to go in morning try to reach by 10 am.you can complete all the animals and bird watch their.then just enjoy upto 4 or 6 because food inside are great and at very normal rates. No need to carry food from outside.have to food stalls their.one for snacks and one for meal.

The Zoo is maintained at international level, I have visited on Saturday with my wife and baby. It was decently crowded. The only problem is there were no sufficient animal to see. Most of the cages are empty. The cafe also was one of the attraction, the food were decently priced. FYI: A 250ml water will cost you 40rs. Hence, if you want you can carry a metel water bottle as plastic ones are not allowed. The maintenance deserves 5 star.

Best time to visit the zoo is early morning on weekdays. On Weekends the zoo is full with people. Lot of cages are still under renovation. Very few animals are present in the zoo. The only improvement i have seen is that they have tried to make the zoo more attractive by copying the style of the zoo in Singapore. Rest the gardens and slides for kids are the attraction. I hope they complete the renovation at the earliest so that the zoo is full of animals and visitors enjoy their visit to the zoo.

Zoo has been recently renovated and need to say govt has done a great job, Place is now very clean and well maintained. Zoo has most of the animals except Lion, crochet, giraffe etc. There are still work in progress and they might has more animals very soon. Tiger, Elephant, Penguin🐧, Bear🐻, Bird point, Snow Bird, Hypo etc were main attraction. Toilets were fine. Place has good drinking water arrangements. Outside food is allowed, but please make sure to throw used paper and plates in dustbin. Place become super duper crowded after afternoon (like 12), so if you are planning plane early in morning when only you would also get the parking as well. Support staff is supportive and will guide you. Place also has good snacks arrangements but is cash only no online payment which is sad. Overall in such a crowded city centre, its a quiet and natural place to spend time with your family and friends👭👬.

(Zoo is open for all from 1st November, 2021) This zoo is just opposite to Byculla Railway station. They have a museum near entry gate. Entry ticket are Adult : Rs 50/- Child : Rs 25/- But if you are family of 4 ( 2 kids and 2 children) then do opt for family ticket which is 100 (which includes your entire family) Zoo is very clean. They have many animals like Tiger, Hyena, Bear, Leopard, Fox,Deer, Elephant, Hippo etc. Birds like parrot, macaw parrot, hornbill, grey parrot and many others. They also have Turtles both land and water ones. There is cafeteria available inside but rates are little on higher side. I suggest you should carry your food from home, there is plenty of space to sit and have your food. Water is available at many places in Zoo. Also toilets are available inside. Main attraction of Zoo is Penguins. You get to see them for just a minute or two but its worth. Some tips: - Try to visit on Weekdays as weekends are mostly crowded. - Do not carry single use plastic bottles like packaged drinking water bottles as they ask to throw them away before entering, instead carry hard plastic bottle or metal bottle. Many water coolers are available inside Zoo. - Try to visit around 11am - 11:30 am as animals are active at that time. Timings : All days 9:30am to 6:00pm but entry closes at 4:00 pm. (Zoo is CLOSED ON WEDNESDAY)

Visited after many years and evidently a lot has changed and still changing. Half of the zoo is under construction to accommodate more animals in coming days. Entry fee is Rs. 50 for adults and free for kids. Ample parking space for cars and bikes with incredibly low parking fee - Rs. 5 for bikes and Rs. 20 for cars. Zoo is closed on Wednesdays. There is one sloth bear, elephant, hyena, tiger and two jackals, leopards. Main attraction is the tiger who is rarely sighted. If you are lucky, you may get to see him. Local guards say that there are two tigers but at a time only one is released into the enclosure and the other is kept in the cage because both fight a lot 😂. There are 4 hippopotamuses and many deers. Several parrots in the bird enclosure. There is a separate enclosure for aquatic birds. The most exciting place is the Humboldt penguins enclosure which is separately built. There are washrooms inside as well as at the entrance. One food stall with reasonable priced items. Overall, sparing few hours here is not a bad idea for anyone irrespective of the age group. Must visiting place indeed.

WORST EXPERIENCE. DON'T VISIT WITH FAMILY! Of all zoos I have visited in India, this one is the worst. Let me highlight the points. Check the review of the most hyped "Penguin" at end. 1. Right at start, you will face long queues to purchase tickets, with very poor management, you will be standing outside under sun in line for half an hour or more to purchase ticket. 2. The ticket counter will accept only cash 3. Then begins a mysterious journey with poor signage on where to go. 4. Most of the animal places will have board "Closed for public". 5. No lions, No leopards, No snakes, No Owls. We could see just one elephant and 3-4 other animals. 6. Wherever an animal is actually visible, the crowd management is so poor that you will hardly get 2-3 seconds of viewing time. NOW THE PENGUIN THING... Have you visited any famous temple in India? You get to see the idols for just 2-3 seconds and are then pushed out by security. You will get worse experience here. FIRST: You will pass through extremely long queues to the penguin center. It took us 30 minutes under sun to enter. Then, you will just start watching the mini penguins, and the security guards will rush you out in just 2 seconds. You won't even get a chance to see if it was actually a penguin. I have added photos and videos that includes penguin photos. You won't see more than that. The only good part of the zoo, was the bird place, where you could actually enjoy and feel good watching so many big and beautiful birds. Save yourself time and money. DON'T VISIT.

Best part - Tiger and Penguin. Tiger was just amazing. Many other animals also there. Besides, Zoo very clean and neatly maintained. Good place to visit with kids For best experience, visit on weekdays and not in holidays. There was too much crowd since we visited on Christmas holiday.

The best zoo to visit in Mumbai. Well-maintained cleanliness & hygienic. Good place to experience many animals. Best place to go With Family. Just be early, we reached at 10am so there was no rush, after 12 noon, there was so much rush, keep this in mind and take tickets from machine just like railways, it'll save your time & reach early :) Food service is available inside in Food Courts & quality was very Good 👍🏻

Had wonderful time at zoo. They have tried to make it as per international format and it has turned out to be amazing. Couldn’t believe that in mumbai we have something so nicely done. Could see almost all animals and it was a delight for each age group. Very clean and well maintained with constant housekeeping. Extremely friendly staff. You can carry your own food or they have quite nice food court as well. Unfortunately too much construction going around the zoo area (buildings) which is disturbing the peace and beauty, not to mention upsetting animals as well. Visitors need to have better civic sense and not harass animals or litter in the park. A souvenir shop would be great revenue stream. Need crowd management in peak hours. Tip: go early in morning by 9.30, as soon as it opens, to avoid crowd.

Place is closed due to pandemic (as on 21st Aug). permission to open zoo must come from central zoo authority Delhi. So I guess this place will be closed till corona is completely gone. Don't believe on fake reviews and spoil your day.

Many new changes are being done in the zoo. The cages have been renewed. Everywhere informative boards are put up which is really good. Penguins are the real site to watch and now they are increased in numbers. A good cafe has been set up inside which provides good food. Washros facilities are provided everywhere. Overall still in construction phase but good.

The entrance is nice..Ticket counters and security checks are properly maintained. A lot of animals are now available to see. Arrangements for animals and birds are nicely maintained. A separate area is arranged with penguins which are kept 24hrs cooled and suited with penguins survival point of view. The playground is available for children. A food court is available which is clean and well arranged. Overall a nice place for all ages. 👌👌

Very well maintained by MCGM. It was really good experience for whole family. Though there are still development activities ongoing because of which Lion enclosure was closed. Main attraction is Penguin house and star of the zoo is the Royal Bengal Tiger. The viewing area for Tiger is superbly made in Rajasthani style which gives a royal feeling The birds enclosure is also nicely and thoughtfully made i guess it is at international level. Also it is full of greenery and clean. There are 2 or 3 washroom areas which are big sufficient and surprisingly very well maintained Overall very good place for one day outing with family

This place is huge....and you can see a lot if animals....elephant, hippo, tiger, cheetah, hyena, deer, stag, birds , turtle & tortoise. Kids are going to have a good time and also learning. If you want to avoid the rush then visit on weekdays I.e Tuesday or Thursday and morning hours. It seems the zoo is closed on wednesday for maintenance. The main attraction is penguin, watching them swim was a joy. The place is maintained very well although people need to use the washrooms responsibly. At Rs. 50 per adult and Rs. 25 per kid(6 -12)this place is cheap and trust me the visit is probably 10 times more worth then what you pay for.

Nice for spending time and fun for kids. But dont go in keeping mind of as actual zoo. its a garden with some animals. the animals are surrounded by trees and bushes. so you might be miss them. There lot's of crowd in garden so you can't get a chance to see any animal in front row. so better don't go to see animals specially. just go for spending time with your family and make some good memories there and kids will get lots of fun there. Rest the environment is pleasing and peaceful. in the current fast moving digital and full technology life, you will amazed by being there. its kind of nostalgic feel. Just keep your mobile in silent mode to enjoy the natural peaceful environment. I spent there 2 hours and didn't get bored. very nice place.

It's a heaven for kids. A very nice place to spend your day with your kids. We adults enjoyed it too. It's been made beautifully. They don't have cages rather beautiful and spacious enclosures. Every enclosure has water in form of ditches, small ponds and waterfalls. Fresh water is filled in them. Enclosure are maintained neatly. For that the matter the whole zoo is clean. We saw elephant, tiger, bear, hyena, leopard, sambhar, swamp deer, aqua birds, parrots, snakes, turtles, hippopotamus, different kinds of birds, butterflies, bats, penguins, monkeys and few more. The zoo has lots of trees and plantation. Every tree is big and beautiful. Apart from animals, the trees are an amazing thing to look at in zoo. Dustbins are placed everywhere. Ample sitting place is provided throughout the zoo. Every sitting is different from other. Restroom and drinking water are available at three or more places. There is a cafe inside that gives few options to eat and drink. The pricing is very cheap. Service is fast. Staff is polite. They have few chairs to sit. There is play area for kids too. Work is still going on....so in a few months time or may be a year, we will be able to see more additions to the zoo.

Worth once a visit only. ⭐⭐⭐/5 1. To Do and Not To Do: - Do explore the charming penguin section and various animal exhibits. - Don't expect to see lions, wolves, giraffes, and zebras, as they are yet to be introduced. 2. Advantages and Disadvantages: - Advantages: Well-maintained gardens, diverse animal exhibits, clean play area. - Disadvantages: Limited animal variety, absence of lions, wolves, giraffes, and zebras. 3. Things To Do and See: - Enjoy the elephant, bear, tiger, jackal, leopard, hyena, various deer species, hippos, penguins, tortoises, turtles, and a variety of birds. - Explore clean gardens and the spacious play area. 4. Animals and Birds Absent: - Lions, foxes, giraffes, and zebras are not part of the current exhibits. 6. Outside Food Policy: - Outside food ain't allowed, so you'll have to rely on the food available within the premises. 7. Visitor Tips: - Bring your own bottled water and homemade snacks. - A cafe inside offers snacks and beverages. - Ample seating for rest and snacks. - Plan for a 2-2.5 hour visit, especially with a child. - Arrive early to avoid crowds and heat, preferably by 10 am. - Weekdays are preferable over weekends; closed on Wednesdays. - Museum visit is recommended if time allows. - Carry extra masks and clothes for kids. - Limited parking; arrive early. - The Zoo is centrally located, maintaining greenery and natural habitat. 8. This is awesome place for enjoying with friends and family especially for kid's.. This place is near by the Byculla Railway Station this is one of the major factor for it's popularity.. In that place deer's, Tigers, Elephants, Hippo's, jackels , parrots and many birds are seen. Now Penguin is the main attraction of that place but people not enjoyed more time in penguin parks because of some restrictions. That place has provide playing area for kid's. The entry fees are cheaper than any other places that's is the beneficial for that zoo's. I visited that place in 29 December.. when many animals are shifted because renovation so I can't seen the some animals like tiger and lions. After the renovation this place is more attractive for people's especially for kids.

I have been to a lot of zoos and then in comparison this zoo becomes very pale. But I am proud of the fact that I have a zoo in my very own city. I have not been here post the renovation, but I am looking forward to it. Penguins definitely are an attraction and I would love to see them again :) I also liked the various birds. Thanks for reading

Awesome place to spend time with your family and kids , they love it.A good Sunday picnic for families... clean, green and very very well maintained by the authorities... must visit for all families... most cages are vacant as they are undergoing renovation and wild animals are yet to be brought in. In the next 2-3 years this zoo would be running to its full occupancy displaying lot of animals. Great collect of birds and reptiles also.

Visiting this zoo after ages. Felt nostalgic. The zoo has been beautifully renovated yet few improvements needs to be made. The habitats for tiger, leopard, golden jackle, Sloth bear are made in detail and in quite good condition. But habitats for hippopotamus, deer, elephant needs improvement. Also overall zoo needs more cleanliness. Penguin habitat is really good. Museum located at the beginning of the zoo is also a must visit. Overall must visit.

I visited the zoo with my son and was pleasantly surprised. For starters we went on a weekday. I booked tickets online since I wanted to skip the queue. The zoo opens at 10:30am and we reached around 10:45am. Parking was available inside the premises. There is a ticket vending machine for those who have booked online. They have tried to make it on the lines of international zoo and even if it may not have reached that standard it is good enough for a visit. The animals are well kept. The enclosures are maintained well. The gardens and trees are lovely and the whole zoo is extremely clean. I did not find any litter anywhere. There are clean toilets at every interval, dustbins everywhere. A huge food court at the penguin exhibit centre which was also very clean and having decent food options priced moderately. Adequate benches all along the zoo just in case you get tired of walking. A play area for children is also available. The highlight were the penguins who are super adorable and also the massive tiger (we witnessed it pacing up and down and was a treat to watch specially for my child). The Birds of Paradise and Aquatic Birds were also good. It is a good visit for children to get them acquainted with animals and spend some time around in the surroundings. Points to remember: 1. Best to visit on a week day as weekends will be crowded. 2. Visiting on the first hour will be convenient as you can finish it by lunch time. It takes around 2 hours if you visit all the animals. 3. Pay and park available in the premises. 4. If you wish to skip the line, book the ticket online. Although on a weekday in the first hour there was no line at the ticket counter.

I recommend you go to this zoo; it's a great place to visit. I went there with my friend on the weekend, and the tickets weren't too expensive. One important thing to remember: don't bring plastic bags, bottles, or snacks like Lay's chips. They don't allow them because they want to keep the zoo clean, and the security will take them if you do. People sometimes litter, so it's a rule to keep things tidy.Once you're inside, you'll see a big map that helps you find your favorite animals. We saw lots of animals and birds, but our favorites were the penguins, bears, and hippos. They were amazing! Me and friends didn't carry food to eat we carried some fruits but inside the zoo there were place where you can buy food and it's was tasty ...In penguins side there were whole food shops and the large canteen which was pretty large ....The zoo is well taken care of, with beautiful gardens and paths, making it a peaceful place to enjoy. In a nutshell, our zoo visit was both fun and relaxing each and every path you will find water to drink I recommend it if you want a nice day out in a well-kept and peaceful place.

Honestly speaking , They have improved the animal enclosures with glass enclosures , Had the opportunity to visit the park After reopening post lockdown. There is an Elephant, A Leopard 🐆 , An Indian Fox , A Hyena , A sloth bear , Two pairs of hippopotamus and the main attraction the Tigers .The bird aviary's closed .The Penguins are there too to welcome you which are more active than ever. The park has been improved from last time . And there are constructions going on for various enclosures that will house Lions 🦁 , Giraffe 🦒 zebras and also a white lion that's what I heard. And theres also a Food canteen which has been newly put up . And last but not the least the gardens are beautifully maintained with lush trees and great grasses . Here are the pics for references.

This is a great zoo and garden, of international standards. I was not expecting such a clean place, with huge and well kept enclosures for animals. One can see tigers, bear, deer, hippos, elephants, leopards, hyenas, various birds and turtles here. The aquatic bird enclosure should not be missed (it's near the main exit and may easily be missed). The penguin area is great, no photography is allowed there though(it is strictly monitored). The parking area is excellent, especially the one which is to the left of the main gate. There is a Cafe inside which sells some eats and drinks, at very moderate prices. All in all, a fantastic experience for Mumbai. One can spend about 1.5 to 3 hours here.

Was definitely in for a pleasant surprise while visiting here after a very long time. This place has been transformed and now the enclosure provides a better viewing experience for public. The animal population in the zoo is still less and would be great if the this is looked into. Optimal timings for visiting would be 10-11:30am as you will be able to catch good glimpse of animals in their enclosure as at noon they are mostly inside their cages or sleeping in shades. We were there at noon so missed a few animals. Enclosure are still been renovated due to which few of them are closed including King of the Jungle the Lion's enclosure and Crocodile enclosure. Humboldt Penguin World since it began as usual has been the star attraction of this zoo. New penguins have been added and are kept under proper cooling and surveillance 24x7. Food court near the Penguin World is Good. Near and clean place with good foods at reasonable rate. Washrooms here are also kept hygienic. Aqua Birds enclosure is excellent and some nice birds in there. Birds paradise has few different species of parrots in there. The ticket prices are very reasonable Rs. 50 for Adults, Rs. 25 for children and they have a family ticket for Rs. 100 (Parents and 2 kids). We had been there on a weekday and still there was a decent amount of crowd visiting the zoo so I believe that it will be much crowded on weekends. Overall it was a delightful experience for us.

Very well managed Park with beautiful trees, plants , flowers and animals. There is one restaurant inside the park, it's a best place for children to show different animals. Penguins are also there. Ticket charges are 50 rupees per person. Ther are some old beautiful buildings which seem to be built by the Britishers before independence. Spare at least two hours to see the park.

If you want to visit some exciting place with kids, this is it. The zoo has now been renovated and opened for public. They have better safety measures and lot of different animals and species of birds to watch. They also have a museum which provides information on wildlife and preservation. Penguins are the attraction. Overall, its a great one day visit to zoo within Mumbai city.

Great place to visit with kids!! You can see many different animals like Tiger, elephant, leopard, hyena etc and also variety of different birds. Unfortunately Lion and one other animal were yet to come when we visited. Penguins are something you don't get to see everyday, so that might exite you. Apart from that there are water drinking stations and toilets made all over the zoo. A small garden is present with swings and slides for kids to play. Entry fee - Adults : 50/head, kids: 25/head (this might vary, also there are options for family passes, and also charges for camera) You can book ahead your passes using their website https://themumbaizoo-ticket.mcgm.gov.in/ Precautions : 1. Do not take use and throw bottles with you, they'll be discarded at the entry of the zoo. Rather take metal or reusable bottles. 2. No food is outside allowed, so make sure you don't have any, or eat it outside. (There are food courts inside so no worries if you're not allowed to take your food in.) 3. Try to maintain the sanity of the place. 4. The Zoo is closed on WEDNESDAYs.

I love love love going back here, as someone who has been here since my childhood I loved seeing this place change I make it a point to visit atleast once a year it's really cool for me and anyone who enjoys spending some time watching animals and birds unwinding, having a walk among a bunch of trees this is the place! The recent introduction of new animals has been a new eye-catching feature of the place. The tigers, new enclosure for alligators where we can see them from two floors on the first floor we get a top view of them if they are in water or on the land. We can now also see what's up underwater because of the basement floor. It looks really amazing ✨. I would suggest going a little early at like 9:40-10 in the morning the animals are near the glass and aren't sleeping later in the day they sleep or go more to their hiding spots. There is a new cafe near the Penguins section now which is a little pricey (I wouldn't lie) but the previous one is also still present so that's that. Overall I enjoyed my trip. I would recommend going on Weekdays if possible, because on weekends and public holidays it can get a little crowded. Have fun on your visit to the zoo!

I visited there 12 years ago. At that time the entrance fees were 5/- and the population of animals was pretty good. Now they raised fees to 50/- however the animal population was not appropriate. They developed the infrastructure but in my opinion it was not that worthy. Penguins are now the only reason to go there. Food quality is also not that good.

The park is under maintenance from about sometime when I last visited a year. But it's partially open. After the remake it's much better. There's a canteen inside. It's clean. Charges are nominal. Penguin 🐧 are best attraction. Monkeys too. My only complain is the animals are too far and not enough space for some of them. Too many layers of net between the viewers and animals but understanding that the people sometimes go overboard and start feeding or irritating the animals it's in best interest of the place and people and animals there. The best time to visit is February as around that time there is flower and plant exhibition there. Beautiful flowers all types including flowers vegetables herbs all types of plants. One can even by things related to gardening and all.

I had enjoyed this place whenever I came here. But it is not the same as 6-7 years before as this place is developing. Now viewing animals is also nice through glass. I like the theme of this zoo. Some animals are added in this zoo like tiger, leopard, jackals etc. Also there are some point for photoshoot which also great. Suggestion: If wanted to visit this place then visit it in morning when all animals come out. Some are the pics of recent visit to this beautiful place.

    1. Convenient time to visit to avoid rush is morning just after the park opens I.e. 9.30 am. There was hardly any crowd at the counter, however after couple of hours there was a huge queue. We visited on a Sunday. 2. Cleanliness : The park was very well maintained and clean. There was no litter on the pathway and there are plenty of dust bins placed to throw garbage. People visiting however sometimes doesnt follow basic courtesy and actually are responsible for littering. All the animal enclosures were very clean and very well maintained. 3. We saw almost all animals, tiger generally comes out in open around 1 - 2 pm. Other animals are pretty visible. The penguins is a must see. The security guards make people rush so soon but it was a good experience. The aqua bird park is one of the most beautifully created enclosure. It is almost like their natural habitat. They have nests built and some birds have laid eggs too. It is surreal. Sunday well spent!!

Nice place to visit...missed following from my last visit during childhood: Crocodile, monkey, lion, white tiger, giraffe, snake section...few sections still under development, hope to see new attraction. Bengal tigers are awesome but they should be given independence and not to be caged.

Byculla zoo is very well maintained. Very convenient to reach by train as well as by road. It has ample car and two wheeler parking available in the campus. Ticketing, restaurant all other facilities are at par. It is recommyto visit earlier in the day for better sightseeing and animal spotting especially Tiger. Crocodile space is also now functional.

It's a great place to hang out with friends and family. The animals are present and penguins are the highlight. Penguins are super cute. However, the guards near Penguins are super annoying because of their continuous whistles. That might disturb animals as well. Overall, a great place. The seabirds are great :) Importantly, it is very close to Byculla Railway station.

Half the places are under construction or closed for some reason. Lion kingdom was kept closed, and so many other animal places too. Staff is unprofessional, especially in penguin area, keeps whistling so loudly for no reason, ruins the entire experience. Someone needs to train them to behave in professional manner. The outside food stall offers very pathetic chocolate shake (just coco powder in milk) for 80 rs. That too without bill and cash only. AC cafeteria is average, needs to be improved a lot. Washrooms are clean though, totally unexpected in govt places like this one. Bird park is a treat for bird lovers. Professional cameramen will get their tickets worth here. There's just one tiger, which is huge, but only if you are lucky, and if you get a place to watch through glass. Too much crowds at some places, they need to build better infrastructure to accommodate larger crowd, needs to adapt two tier view points like Singapore Zoo. A long way ahead, but definitely needs improvement

I want to give a negative rating but no option. We visited on a public holiday. Crazy crowd everywhere from buying tickets to seeing animals. Bad design of enclosures you can't see any animal clearly except for one single direction. Mismanged, bad maintenance. Except for elephant, deer, birds and turtles nothing is easy to see. It's like a crowd of cities and animals hidden like a jungle. To see the penguin line was around a half kilometre inside the zoo.

The only good thing to visit this Zoo is PENGUINS. There is separate facility for Penguin. They are worth watching. They are maintained nicely. There is also play area for children and plenty of seating places for adults. Museum is also near by. Hope Zoo is upgrade soon with lots of Animals and new facilities

This is very good place for kids opened from November month still some renovations going on but it's open now. Entry fees 50 for adult and 25 for kids though you can take 100₹ family ticket for two adults and two kids. There is very nice parking facility at 20₹ only. In the zoo it takes 4-5 hours and kids play garden also available. One small cafeteria there but you can take your own food from home but no single use plastic bottles. There are few beautiful small🐧 there kid will love it. Tiger in glass and water closure is amazing to watch when he is in mood. there are plenty of chilled water tank and clean public washrooms inside zoo. Overall a good experience. Location is also easily accessible. Not much variety of birds and animals but for mumbai kids it's good place to hang out in weekend.

Wonderful place for kids and family to visit. It has affordable entry prices also it is well maintained with proper water and washroom facilities. It's a huge place so one must follow the maps to complete the zoo visit in time. Many different kind of animals as well as birds can be seen also information related each animal is displayed too. The upgradations done to this place are just spectacular as compared to my earlier ( 2 years ago) arrival. It has food courts services with all snacks and lunch items available. The animals and their habitats are so well looked upon. Over all amazing place to visit.

Time required to explore full zoo is about 4 hours. Lion, Wolf and Otter are shown on map but not available inside. Mostly animals are not visible, either they are under water like Rhinoceros or Hippopotamus and mostly animals are hidden behind bushes or some structures. Only attractive part is Penguin . Butterfly garden and Japanese Garden are also closed. Museum is also closed due to renovation. For a sunday outing with family's, it's good but try to avoid going on weekends to avoid the unnecessary rush. Ticket cost and timings everything is available on their official website. You can plan in advance. It is closed on Wednesdays. Can take inside food items and anything, there's no checking on entrance gate. On every few meters, there is a facility of drinking water and toilets. There are two cafes one non AC near Tiger territory and other one full AC near Penguin house.

However, some concerns have been raised in the past about animal welfare and the overall condition of the facilities. It's always a good idea to check recent reviews

The only zoo in Mumbai, the elephant was alone for some reason, maybe they didn't have a pair for it. The Aqua birds enclosure was definitely my favourite, the entrance to that enclosure, the large birds inside it, best enclosure for sure. The jungle wooden bridge is also a really soothing, silent and scenic place to spend some time on while you are exploring the zoo. Nice place for kids to be on school trips, as is evident from the school crowds that arrive on weekends.

The latest attraction after the Penguins is the tiger and the beautiful landscape developed and not to forget the leopard. It is highly recommended that one visits during weekdays to avoid crowd amidst raising cases of COVID.

Went on the first Sunday after the reopening post lockdown. It wasn't very crowded and I was quite impressed with the set up. (When I had last visited around 25 years ago as a child it was quite dilapidated) there was one elephant a bear couple of hippos, jackals, heyena, butterfly garden , penguin enclosure, sambals leopard and tigers (we didn't get to see tiger) that I can recollect. Do take a cap and an umbrella as it does get quite hot and sunny during the day . There is parking available and tickets are rs. 50 per adult.

Even during Covid, this place jam-packed completely crowded with people and kids. Adequate parking place for Car and 2 wheelers. The animals doesn't seem to be happy at all. Penguin are quiet a special to watch but their room is small and no place for them to swim properly. One time visit would be okay.

Average zoo. Currently many animals like Lion, leopard, wolves are not there . It is undergoing renovation. Not par Mumbai standards. Penguins are good to watch, it is something unique here. They should include more varieties of Flora and Fauna like giraffe, rhinos, crocodiles etc. These are standard in decent zoo's. Also ice creams there are not good , some local one's- not worth the money :D

Have been to the zoo in Feb 2021. The zoo underwent a renovation recently it seems. Some areas are still under renovation. The viewing areas have been modernized. We were able to catch a glimpse of the tiger and the leopard. The main attraction nowadays is the Humboltd Penguin.

Could be better if crowd can be managed. Decent pavment to walk needs to be looked at. Rest was more than expected . Depends on ur luck to c the animals as they are in their natural habitat space.

Very nice layout. Was pleasntly surprised to see it clean. Lots of renovation going on. Visited today the day of review. Security needs to be more strict with crowds who don't listen. There are picnic spots to eat food u can bring or buy from a Cafe inside that has samosa sandwiches and pizza. V saw elephant wild boar, deers etc tiger was asleep. The penguin area v were allowed only quick 2min view. Aqua bird avairy was lovely but water was smelly n stagnant. Overall good experience..spent 2hours. Good visit for kids. No Sanitizers or temp checks.

So much crowd and no proper management .children could not see properly. Group peoples are create so much rush. penguin and turtles we can see properly. And other animals not seen properly. Not so much animals are there. Only limited animals are seen. Zoo is basically for childrens want to see animals and enjoyment but children cant see properly or not enjoy so its totally west of money and time.

We went to this place on 30 November 21, it's a huge property we'll planned with a great variety of flora and fauna very well maintained for convenience of visitors good play area for kids and variety of birds. But there were comparatively fewer animals and it seems they were not well taken care of by staff, the water for animals was very dirty with green algae The government has spent a huge amount and built the place very carefully and thoughtfully The penguins didn't seem happy and were droopy I really felt bad at the sight of single elephant that too he was chained there should have been more elephants together, his water reservoir was also unclean and very less water in it. Similarly, the leopard and hyenas were sleeping and very far off. There is a good variety of birds.

Great place to visit not only for kids but adults too! Huge vicinity with variety of animals. Entry ticket - Rs. 25 for kids, and Rs. 50 for adults provided you are an Indian citizen. Pros: Tiger and Penguin are the best attractions. Food, Water and washroom facility available within the premises. Proper care of the animals is taken (since all the animals looked healthy) There are fun facts written about various animals, birds & trees on every corner of the premises. Cons: Few animals were mentioned on the map but were not there which was little disappointing. The lion, hyena, crocodile & tortoise were not there.

Apart from penguins and aquatic birds, there isn’t anything interesting to see. It seemed like all the common animals had been newly introduced to the zoo since they were mostly babies. Recommended not to visit during the noon, every animal is either napping or resting. I have been here as a kid and a lot has changed since, everything is compact. Also, they have food court with good options now. Overall 7/10 pretty exciting place for kids. hoping the constructions finishes off soon and a lot more different animals are introduced

It is a fun place for children and for visitors. They have been renovation the zoo and most of part of zoo has been renovated except lion and crocodile area. They have removed the entry fee for penguins but increased the price of zoo entry and it is good in many reasons. If you want to come just try to visit before noon like around 10:30 so that you may not encounter too much crowd that you will experience after 2 pm.

The zoo is well made but crowded as a lot of tourists visit on a daily basis. There were no lions but a tiger, 4 hippo, lots of monkeys, an elephant and the cutest penguins did make our visit memorable. A fun outing for my 2 yr old who was excited to be there. There is also a huge play area for kids which is great plus lots of place to relax with an amazing, newly done up canteen

The botanical garden within the zoo is spectacular with a wide variety of trees and plants along with a description written beside it. The zoo has well maintained the natural habitat of the animals kept and is very informative. The washroom is clean, and a filtered drinking water facility is provided. It has a food court that is neatly maintained and has good food options. The ticket is free for old citizens above 60 years and for physically challenged, provided you bring the required documents. The entry fee is very reasonable and worth it. A day picnic here will be a source of remarkable memories. This place is soothing and peaceful too. The timing is 9.30 am to 6 pm and the zoo is closed on Wednesday. To skip long queues it's recommended to book your tickets online which is hassle free.

Visited in first week of June 2023 Wonderful Experience! Positives 1. Only Rs. 100 for a family ! 2. Parking is available inside the zoo at only Rs. 20 3. Good cafes 4. Ample sitting space 5. Multiple selfi points 6. Playing area for kids 7. Sheer enjoyment to watch tiger, penguins, leopard, birds and all other animals 8. Majority of the area covered by trees making it better in summers Important to note 1. Reach early i.e. by 10 am to avoid crowds and have a good experience of watching animals before noon when they might rear 2. Weekdays are very much preferred. I visited on weekdays around 10.15 am and completed the trip around 2 - 2.30 after having food 3. People with challenges for walking may find it difficult in the absence of suitable assistance such as golf cart / battery operated cart etc 4. Book tickets online and avoid queues 5. Walkable from Byculla Station Animals coming soon according to zoo 1. Lion 2. Wolf

They are trying to make the zoo more interactive with adding the glass view which help us to experience it in better ways. But i wish they add more animals, Looking forward to see more animals when i visit next time. They also have nice cafeteria . I loved how they made the aqua birds cage you can actually go inside that huges cages that they made and interact with the birds from a close distance. It was a good experience overall.

Being a Mumbaikar never visited this Zoo, in fact i don't like zoos at all, Putting Animals inside cage is cruelty. But my family made plan to visit here, its renovated so lets give a try. BMC had done great Job renovating it and maintaining it. Zoo was very clean and neat. The day i visited there was no Lion and only 1 baby Tiger. Plenty of Birds, Aqua Birds, 4 Shy Hippos who never come out of water, Funny Monkeys who keeps screaming and jumping, only 1 Elephant, Group of deers, Alligator that can be seen through underwater glass, tortoise. Penguin: I felt so bad about Penguins, they were unhappy, tired closed in small Ice Cabin. I could feel them. They wanted to go back from where they came. Very cruel. Penguin should be free. Food: Good, Hygienic food options.

Byculla Zoo offers a charming escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Nestled amidst lush greenery, the zoo provides a diverse array of animals to admire. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed, resembling natural habitats and allowing for an up-close encounter with wildlife. While the collection isn't extensive, the zoo boasts some impressive species, including majestic big cats, exotic birds, and playful primates. The highlight was undoubtedly the well-crafted aquarium, where I marveled at the underwater world. Informative signs scattered throughout the zoo provided interesting insights into each animal's behavior and conservation status. The staff appeared knowledgeable and friendly, ready to answer questions and engage in conversation. However, the overall infrastructure could use some updates, and certain enclosures seemed a bit cramped. Nonetheless, Byculla Zoo offers an enjoyable outing for families and animal enthusiasts alike. It's a commendable effort towards conservation and education in a peaceful and natural setting.

As you enter you can see QR code placed by scanning of it you can book online tickets to enter Zoo, book it and then go to ticket room, use receipt QR code to get physical tickets. Many animals are there which kids can enjoy, but when we visited that time lion and couple of animals weren't there. Kids play area is also attraction over there. The zoo is currently undergoing a major revamp. So quite a few animals are off-display, at the moment. However, whatever parts are revamped are simply fabulous! It is definitely worth even going to take a glimpse of the partially revamped place once, before the zoo gets a fully new look. That's because it's not the animal enclosures that are being revamped but the whole experience of a 'visit to a zoo' is getting redefined! In a couple of months, it will be on par with or better than, any wildlife park anywhere in the world! ❤

I am bit disappointed this time when I visited this zoo. They don't have much animals for visitors attraction.if you ask I can count on my finger what type of animals I have seen. But for cleanness you can give them star. Penguin is really one main source of tourists attractions but they don't allow to take photographs. Butterfly garden has really won my heart. Such type of plants are grown which attract butterfly . Avoid visiting Sunday and national holidays. Zoo authorities must take some action against wild cafe for not proper quality of food

Quite crowded place. Formerly called as Ranichi Baugh. Both Botanical & Zoological garden is there. Also you will see penguins 🐧 which is becoming important factor to attract more visitors. Several kinds of endemic species of plants are found there which are never found elsewhere in the city. It is good place to visit for biology students. One of the oldest museum in Mumbai is there which is also tourist attraction.

Great place for kids to enjoy wild life. As of now the Zoo is re-building and will take atleast 1-2yrs before its finally finished but it still is a good place for kids to learn as well as enjoy. The new enclosures are good for animals as well as provide good viewing for general public. The area of the zoo is filled with gardens with a lot of information available on the flora and fauna. The animals on display are: Indian Elephant, Sloth Bear, Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Hipps, Deers (Barking, Swamp and spotted), Tortoise & Turtles, Aviary (Closed currently due to Covid), the famous Humbolt Penguins and a few more. The star of the show undoubtedly is the Tiger: Nice, big, healthy Royal Bengal Tiger who is quite active in the mornings. As with all the zoos, the best time to visit is mornings as the animals are awake. The ticket rates are Rs. 50 per adult and Rs. 25 per child. You can take your own water and eatable inside or there are a few places which sell Samosas, Pizzas, Pop Corn, cold drinks, tea/coffee etc at fair prices. There are washrooms available inside the zoo. There is parking for 2 & 4 wheelers (Rs. 20 per car). Overall a good place to visit. Will take 3-4hours to complete the whole Zoo...

I visited this zoo for the first time and I was totally amazed to see how beautifully it is developed. But sadly there were some places which are still under construction. I got to see different animals like tiger, deer, elephant, bear, hippopotamus, aquatic birds, etc. It also has a cafe inside which provides light snacks and beverages. It also has a museum. Do visit with your kids.

No too good. Hardly you can see 10-20 Verity of animals. Also they have increased the entry fee to 50rs each. The only good part was We were able to see penguins. Also there is canteen inside where they charge nominal price for Verity of food. Few of the areas are still under construction due to which we were not able to see many beautiful things such as Japanese Garder.

Good place to break free. Lots of different varieties if plants and trees, kids play area, butterfly garden apart from cagged animals and birds. Few animals were missing seems like their focus is more on flora. Takes a long time to cover the 48 acre area and it closes by 5:30 pm. So better to access it early. Animals may take shelter to beat the heat so plan wisely.

  • 4/5 Rashmi S. 2 years ago on Google
Went here on Sunday. Place was over crowded. No one to monitor if people are wearing masks or no. Overall Good experience. Saw tiger, jackal, hyana, leopard, beer, deer, hippo, sambar, birds. Penguin was too cute. Tiger took away all the show. He was a celebrity there. Kids will enjoy this place. Separate playing area for toddlers and kids. There is a cafe as well which serves sandwiches, samosa, pizza, burger , ice cream etc. Should take more care of animals. Parking is available.

    • Z O O • Mumbai One of my most favourite places to visit in the city and chill for the whole day. Well maintained ✓ Cafe with tasty food ✓ Good range of animals ✓ Educational ✓ Worth a visit ✓ The Humbolt penguins and the variety of Birds is simply amazing🤩. For the first time in my life I saw a white crow. The snake 🐍 I saw here was huge. And the hippos were massive. Don't forget to visit the museum in the zoo courtyard, its absolutely worth a visit. PRO Tip BRO : Visit in the morning around 10am , the animals are out that time. In the afternoon they go to sleep.

  • 3/5 quincy a. 2 years ago on Google
Decent zoo, with reasonable ticket price of Rs. 50 for adults and children Rs. 25. There are wide range of aquatic bird and exotic birds. There is still work in progress going on, with regards to 3D Auditorium is still not open and some cages are still empty. So most probably in some time it should be ready . There is one food stall inside the zoo.

Main attraction is Tiger. People throng there mainly to see tiger, penguin, leopard. Ticket counters closes at 4 pm. So go before 4 pm even though timing is still 6 pm. Wednesday is weekly off. Avoid Sat and Sunday. You will see crowd like this.

  • 4/5 Parag M. 1 year ago on Google
A few important things to note before you visit. 1. The place is undergoing a major make-over. Expect many sections to be closed, fewer animals and renovations underway. 2. We have a total of 14 penguins in India. At the Humboldt penguin section you get to see 9 of them! and there is no separate entry fee. 3. All areas, especially animal viewing decks are wheelchair accessible. Very thoughtful of the planning and design team. 4. It's a 'garden and zoo'. So if you are visiting with the expectations of only seeing animals, you will be disappointed. 5. You will have to walk 3-4 km to cover every noon and corner of the park and zoo. 6. There is one cafe (near tiger enclosure) and a food court at Humboldt Penguin section. I would recommend the food court for more variety and affordable prices. 7. Since the place is closed on Wednesday, the best day to visit is Thursday.

  • 5/5 Teena M J. 9 months ago on Google
An entertainment spot when you visit Mumbai... energetic, active animals can be seen in their well kept habitats. The zoo authorities have done their best to keep the existing facilities at its best. Canteen is available. Drinking water and toilet facilities are provided at necessary points. The recent highlight is the penguins. Beware of heavy crowd after 11. Am... So visit as early as possible to avoid cramming.

  • 4/5 my-financial-wealth b. 7 months ago on Google
After the renovation this zoo feels good. It's spacious, clean and a great place to visit. Ticket is affordable and it includes the penguin aquarium (at least 15 penguins there). Parking, coffee store and food court available. For holders of oci cards the entrance fee is 50 rs.

I recently visited this zoo located in byculla- Mumbai, and it was a great experience! I had the chance to see some fascinating wild animals, with the major attraction being the tigers and penguins. The garden was well maintained, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Additionally, I was pleased to find that there is food available inside the zoo, making it convenient for visitors. However, I hope the BMC will consider adding more animals in the upcoming days to make it even more attractive. Overall, it was a good experience. 🐅🐧🌿🍔🍟🍦

It was great seeing the fellow living creatures in person, while accepting the harsh reality that they are captives because of us.... It was fun and now there are alligators, aqua birds and penguins. There are both outdoor and indoor eateries and clean washrooms ! Great for hanging out with friends and family.. Lion & wolf are yet to come Avoid going on public holidays and Wednesdays the place is closed

To tell you all about the zoo, it is revamped and definitely looks much better than what it was earlier. But was a disappointment in terms of animals present there. Mostly all animals kept in the zoo were very limited, like almost 1 in every space. Also most of the main attraction for kids were not present at all. The only 2 available were the aquatic birds and penguin. So the rest was a total disappointment.

If you happen to be in South Mumbai do yourself a favour and visit the Zoo. Many of the enclosures are refurbished and the exotic animals are well looked after. The icing on the cake is the Penguin enclosure which is awesome. A visit is highly recommended.

I recently visited this zoo located in byculla- Mumbai, and it was a great experience! I had the chance to see some fascinating wild animals, with the major attraction being the tigers and penguins. Please book tickets online. Once booked online you have to scan the QR code and get a physical ticket for entrance. Overall, it was a good experience.

A spacious zoo with impressive infrastructure, this place ensures a comfortable visit with ample washrooms and convenient drinking water and food facilities. While diverse, more animal additions could enhance the experience. The reasonable ticket prices make it an accessible outing for all.

I like this zoo; it's a great place to visit. I went there with my friend on the weekend, and the tickets weren't too expensive. One important thing to remember: don't bring plastic bags, bottles, or snacks like Lay's chips. They don't allow them because they want to keep the zoo clean, and the security will take them if you do. In a nutshell, our zoo visit was both fun and relaxing each and every path you will find water to drink I recommend it if you want a nice day out in a well-kept and peaceful place.
