The Russell was spectacular!! We visited Nashville for the first time and would come back just to stay at The Russell again- we loved it! The hotel overall was absolutely beautiful, thoughtfully styled, very clean and just pretty to look at. Location was close enough to downtown for a quick and easy commute, but far enough for peace & quiet. The rooms were great; lovely welcome treats, area guide, comfy bed, and luxury amenities. The staff would text to check in and offer support. And although there was no staff on site, we felt the most taken care of and welcomed at The Russell than we have at any other hotel we’ve stayed at. We felt like we were living in luxury, for a fraction of a luxury price tag. To top it all off, a portion of your stay is given back to the homeless community. Bravo, The Russell! 10/10 would recommend a stay here.

We loved this hotel! So great. Beautiful old church converted to a modern hotel with a fun vibe. Easy check in and out. Lots of thoughtful conveniences. Just outside the city in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. I love that they give back to help the homeless. We were so happy with this entire experience staying at The Russell and highly recommend.

Wow, what a great place! Cool church transformed into a most comfortable hotel, spacious, and clean. The amenities were very appreciated - quality linens, robe, and soap/shampoo. We felt most welcome and the guest tray of goodies was an over the top surprise. What a rarity to receive such a high level of customer service!! It’s easy to understand the great reviews. Painless check-in/out process and high degree of professionalism from the team. We also enjoyed the location and plan on coming back!

My wife and I spent a long weekend at The Russell and had a wonderful stay. This boutique hotel has a funky vibe, but still pays respect to the quiet neighborhood and the history of Nashville. The bed was extremely comfortable, all spaces were clean and fresh, and the amenities (including the photo booth) were excellent. The location is very convenient, with cool walkable restaurants, and still only a mile and a half from Broadway. This is an employee free hotel, which is different, but the security and guest experiences were top notch. My wife and I get to Nashville a couple times a year, and in the future, this will be our ‘go to’ hotel. Well done! You must check out their photos!

What a fabulous stay! The decor is beautiful and the ambiance is all elegance and no snobbery. The stained glass windows are stunning. I didn't think I would like the concierge-less/key-less approach but I am a total convert now. Frequent texts, emails, and hotel ambiance struck the perfect balance of hospitality and privacy. And when I left the room, I don't have to panic that I can't find my keys. Total bonus points. More bonus points for the Russell's mission to help the unhoused directly through hotel revenue. I am definitely staying here the next time I am in Nashville.

I loved my stay here and hope to be back sometime in life! It's in a great location in east Nashville... the hotel is extremely unique and inspiring. I love the design, coziness, and pops of color everywhere. It's in a very cute neighborhood that is great for morning walks. Easy walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, and small bars/music venues.

The Russell was in such a great location, beautiful area with beautiful homes and great restaurants. Easy access to the downtown as well. The room, common area and all the decor was so well done! Such an amazing, beautiful hotel! Would absolutely recommend this hotel for your stay in Nashville! If we ever make our way back to Nashville The Russell is where we will be staying 😉Not to mention the donations they also give to help the needy. All around an awesome experience ❤️

We decided to stay at The Russell because it was close to a concert venue, and we definitely didn't regret it! It was seamless as far as communication goes, there was parking available (we didn't use it, but it was across the street), the common areas were gorgeous and fun, and the rooms were awesome! I loved that they kept the essence of the building throughout, like for example, a pew was the headboard of our bed and the bathroom mirrors had the same tipped look. The choices in decor were awesome too - definitely check out the cool wallpaper in the downstairs common bathroom! There was a photo booth, a snack machine, and plenty of places to work. There was also free coffee and tea in the main area. The rooms came with great snacks and coffee as well. Lastly, I love that a portion of the room cost goes to help the homeless population in Nashville - that was a wonderful thing to learn! If you are considering staying at The Russell, I highly recommend it. We will certainly be back :)

We loved staying at The Russell for a weekend getaway to Nashville!! It's just far enough from downtown to get away from the hustle and bustle but doesn't take long to get to any place you want to go. The room was clean and so unique as well as the lobby area. The room has all you need with a spacious bathroom and refrigerator and even goodies! Stay here!! We will be back!

I'm conflicted! I want to tell the world about my new, favorite hotel but I also want to keep it a secret! We loved our room! The comfortable bed, the gorgeous tiled shower, the warm, cozy bath robes and all the other special touches throughout did not disappoint. The lobby is simply amazing and relaxing. The coffee is delicious! Parking was free and very convenient. I'm looking for an excuse to go back to Nashville just so I can stay at The Russell again! I look forward to exploring the neighborhood next time.

The Russell was perfect for our visit to Nashville. We had a flexible timeline for our travel, so we decided to stay a couple extra days and they were eager and able to accommodate. The rooms are really nice, comfortable, and cozy. It was also really quiet. The hotel was pretty full while we were there and while we encountered other people during our stay, we were never disturbed by noise or anything else. It was the perfect getaway from our busy lives. We slept better than we have in years! I would highly recommend both the facility and the location to anyone. We'll definitely stay here when we come back through Nashville.

We absolutely loved The Russell. Check in/out was a seamless process. The property is stunning, and our room was lovely. Everything we needed was in our room, very comfortable bed/bedding, beautiful & spacious bathroom & shower. The neighborhood is beautiful, and we felt safe walking around day/night. Walkable to delicious food and bars, and less than 10 min drive to Broadway. I highly recommend, and would definitely stay again.

We and three other couples spent four nights at The Russell and were very pleased with the room and amenities. They were refreshingly well decorated and not the standard hotel style! If we had a question or needed something, we got an immediate response. So anyone worried about there being no concierge, it didn't pose a problem for us. It is close enough to downtown to get there easily and far enough away that we could retreat to a quiet neighborhood after being in the hub-bub all day/evening. The beds were, by unanimous vote, incredible. If I could have taken it home I would have! And to help the homeless of Nashville by staying at The Russell only puts icing on this cake!

A Nashville gem! Loads of character, fun/hip vibe, and a wonderful mission- the average weekend stay at The Russell provides one of the following options through their incredible nonprofit partners: 16 nights in a bed, 100 free showers, or 30 warm meals. Keep in mind there isn't an elevator (which they are very clear about), but you can book a room on the first floor or use the dumbwaiter to get your luggage/bags up to your room. Well worth the stay- will be back!

Had a great stay at the Russell and would happily recommend to anyone! Really fun and stylish interior for both the rooms and communal areas. The location is great as well, easy walking distance to the great bars and restaurants available in East Nashville. We had previously stayed in the downtown area which is just constant noise and relative chaos of stag and hen parties. It's nice and peaceful at the Russell so no issues there. The Russell also donates profits to homeless charities in the local area so its nice to feel that your stay makes a positive local impact. Would happily stay here again

Beautiful hotel! Lobby and rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. You can tell every small detail was thought out. Wonderful area with lots to do in walking distance. Hotel responses were quick and it was nice to receive communication throughout the stay to address any needs. Parking was convenient. We will absolutely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at The Russell during a concert weekend in Nashville. The lobby and room were immaculate. The room was comfortable and well equipped. I received several messages from the hosts throughout our stay checking to see if we needed anything. The hotel is nestled in a charming neighborhood that was quiet and still an easy distance from downtown. We will definitely be back and have already recommended to friends/family. Excellent job on creating a unique space and experience! My only complaint is that now I have to buy my wife a Dyson cooling fan after we used the one in the hotel room 🤣

  • 5/5 Claudia B. 4 months ago on Google
Cutest hotel ever with the best details to truly make your stay stand out! From the coffee, photo booth, microwave and filtered water in the lobby to the Dyson blowdryer, robes and snacks in your room...this hotel really had it all! When we needed more supplies, they were easily accessible, even with no staff at the hotel. The beds were comfortable and we loved the outlets next to each of the beds (and they reused the church stalls for this), which was a nice touch. Parking was free and convenient across the street. They even had a nice message for my mom and a bottle of champagne as we were celebrating her birthday. We loved staying here and can't wait to come back!

I had a wonderful stay at the Russell. I was a little nervous about the contact-less check-in part, but it was completely seamless. Any questions that I sent by text to their help number were answered immediately. The lobby is beautiful! My room was on the smaller side, but I also picked the cheapest room option. There was a free basket of goodies (including branded koozies!). I was super surprised to see the fancy Dyson hair dryer in the bathroom - what a nice perk! The shower was great and had nice products. The location is within walking distance to plenty of bars/restaurants in East Nashville, but is in a very quiet part of the neighborhood. An uber to downtown is just ten minutes. Overall quite a lovely experience!

This hotel was a wonderful place for my parents to stay while visiting. Location is perfect for access to downtown and 5 points in east Nashville. It is an historic church turned into a hotel and as such The rooms are on the smaller side but very comfortable and you probably won't be spending a ton of time there. The community spaces are gorgeous with beautiful stained glass lighting the interesting architectural appointments on every level. No staff on site so that might be an issue if you have mobility concerns. There are no elevators either fortunately my older parents were on the first floor but keep in mind the hike up the stairs to the third floor. There is a slow moving luggage elevator though it's also fun to operate. Parking is a small lot across the street we had no trouble finding spots. If dealing with inclement or very cold weather just be prepared. Overall we'd stay here if visiting and my parents loved it. If you don't need staff at a hotel catering to you and can take care of yourself or just want to avoid interacting with people you can't go wrong with this fantastic hotel.

I had a work trip that took me to Nashville. A friend of mine told me about The Russell and it was close to where I was going for conference. It was easy to find and close to a lot of things. Aside from that ease, it was beautiful. I didn't mind that it was concierge less. It felt safe and it is obvious that a lot of care goes into the stay. The bed was comfortable and everything was so clean. It's the little touches that make this a wonderful place. I enjoyed just staying in the room.

We were in the Nashville area for a relatives wedding. We decided to add an extra day and stayed at the Russell hotel for one night. It is our new favorite hotel and next time we are in Nashville we will stay there for many nights. The entire experience was amazing. Coffee was the best ever and I actually got to have espresso which I love. The room was super cute and all of the amenities were perfect. We just loved the champagne – see picture. Love the extra fun touches offered in the lobby area as well. And, downtown Nashville was just a five minute Uber ride away. We will definitely be back! I also love how the owners give back to the local community.

We really loved our stay at The Russell! So many details made it enjoyable - coffee in the lobby, the cute furniture, small details in the room, some free snacks and a really awesome postcard. I thought the no staff thing would be odd but we hardly noticed! They were very attentive via text which was almost easier? Great location too as we walked into downtown almost every day. Would very much recommend to anyone.

I was drawn into this boutique hotel by the uniqueness of it and the high praise it had received in reviews. After working with the management and hotel staff and staying at the hotel, I can say that this property lives up to the hype. This is my first experience staying at a concierge-less hotel and I can definitely say it was a positive one. From booking to checkout the staff with The Russell were very communicative and quick to respond to any and all questions. The process was so easy and makes me wish more places operated in this manner. The lobby/coffee bar, all common places and the room itself were all incredibly well kept. The mix between the structure and pieces from it as a church along with modern amenities were perfectly combined. The prime location with secure private parking made walking, Ubering, or driving around the city a total breeze. I can't recommend this establishment enough!

Adorable boutique hotel, loved the room design and common areas. Great attention to detail and so aesthetically pleasing. However, the air conditioner in our room made a horrible sound that kept us up most of the night. We turned the air conditioner off completely but this sound persisted. We tried everything but the sound wouldn’t go away. This loud mechanical sound went off every 3-5 minutes like clockwork. Honestly would have given a 5 star review if that wasn’t the case but just couldn’t get past the obnoxious sound that made sleeping extremely difficult. Even when we tried using the complimentary sound machine and ear plugs, the sound would still startle me awake. This is likely only a problem unique to the room that we stayed in (3:1). They also provided complimentary snacks which is so nice but most of ours had been opened already with bites taken out of them.

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay and spend time in Nashville. Close to both downtown and East Nashville. The decor is amazing, it was beautifully restored and designed, the beds were very comfortable. I loved the mission of the Russell too. The only downside is it is an old building and you can hear your neighbors. Very light sleepers might not rest well through the night. Even with our own high quality sound machine that we brought with us, you could still very clearly hear your neighbors. We did not notice any ear plugs, though I imagine those could be helpful.

The most unique and peaceful places to unwind. Beautiful outside and inside. The staff is always available but out of sight. The surrounding community offers great options for food selections. The coffee shop Yeast Nashville was amazing. Everything was top quality. The bed was extremely comfortable. A must visit for these stressful times.

The most aesthetically pleasing stay we’ve ever enjoyed. The lobby is brightly decorated and stocked with fun seating and plenty of great coffee table books, not to mention local coffee. Our room was perfectly charming, and wildly comfortable. The bed had fresh, clean linens. The windows looked out into a lovely, peaceful, green neighborhood. The room was thoughtfully decorated and supplied with local snacks and water. The freedom to check in and out on our own added an element of freedom that I found delightful. A few other touches we enjoyed was the ease of parking, how walkable the neighborhood was (if you haven’t tried Atta Boy, you must), and the divinely soft bathrobes.

Such a unique place to stay! Loved the extra touches like a steamer and Dyson hairdryer. The coffee machine in the morning and ample places to set up on a laptop was also great. Parking was super easy. The room was small but very comfortable (Room 3:1.) The AC was nice and cold and the bed was cozy. My boyfriend and I had a really great time here. We also loved the snacks and cup holders and luxury toiletries in the bathroom. We weren't far from anything we wanted to go see in Nashville. Just the best stay! Great communication from the property, too! #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

This was a great location for a quick trip to Nashville. Hotel lobby with its beautiful stained glass is lovely spot for morning coffee followed by short walk to choice of two great pastry/ donut shops. Also good dining nearby. Rooms are clean and streamlined. Comfortable beds, huge showers and plenty of storage should you be staying for a while. Will definitely stay here or a sister property again.

We had an amazing stay! Our only regret is not being able to spend more time exploring this beautiful place and the city. Very clean, great amenities, and I have to know what the products are in the shower! Highly recommend when visiting the Nashville area. Would also like to add: easy check-in, easy check-out, safe parking, great communication, and the fact that they give back to the city... The stats are AMAZING! Check them out for yourself!

This hotel is beautiful! Loved the huge stained glass windows and overall colorful design. Checking in and out was very simple and we took advantage of the luggage lockers due to an earlier flight- super convenient! Our room was lovely and the goodie basket was great! They even included a couple vegan items which was a nice surprise. Location is within walking distance of several great restaurants and bars.

Not only will I return but I tell everyone this is the place to stay. The pictures are exactly what you see on arrival. I was in love with the decor, fabric selection, art and the common areas. When we entered our room it was magical. Nothing was overlooked. Quality appliances, bath robes (almost bought myself a $200 robe but could not fit in my suitcase), and toiletries. The eye mask was appreciated for the light in the tower, as were the goodies in the welcome bin. The binder is filled with great information. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. Such a contrast to Broadway. The location is in the East side which has so much to offer and yet a quick 20 min walk across the river. I could go on and on and on. I did not want to leave. Thank you so much for this beautiful experience. Keep doing what you are doing.

I wasn’t expecting much from the very cheap price and preconceived notions I had from it being a converted church… but I’ve never been happier to have been proven wrong. It started off with a very very responsive virtual front desk; I swear these people answer faster than most of my family and friends. They were accommodating at all times of the day and night and demonstrated excellent communication throughout the stay. They had a nice free parking lot that was a huge boon as the other hotels I looked at charged an arm and a leg. The property itself was clean, modern, and unexpectedly gorgeous. You could tell a lot of effort was placed into keeping the historic charm of the building along with an updated polished exterior. The rooms were of good size with a comfortable bed and decked out with Dyson appliances! I enjoyed the decor, appreciated the free snacks, and cleanliness. Additionally they have a sparkling water tap which I had never seen in a hotel. Free coffee up front and a cheeky little photo booth made this a social media saavy person’s dream. I’m definitely heading back here on future Nashville trips.

We stayed at the Russell to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday recently. It was such a gorgeous place and our room was amazing! Check in and out were a breeze; there was excellent communication, responsiveness and instructions from the staff. The room was very clean and the location was awesome. Parking was available and ride share pick up was super easy and convenient. We loved all the goodies in the room. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend The Russell to others!

The Russell greatly exceeded our expectations!!! Although we in Nashville for a concert at the Ascend Outdoor Amphitheater, I was just as excited to stay at this beautiful boutique hotel. The common spaces are gorgeous. All areas, including our room, were impeccably clean. Their email communication was prompt and concise. I have already told a half dozen friends about this wonderful place…and we plan on staying at The Russell ANYTIME we come to Nashville. Thank you for your generosity to the homeless and your courtesy to us. God bless…..

From making the reservation until check out - wonderful experience! Check in was a breeze, the building is beautiful with huge stained glass windows, our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and quiet at night. Walked to hot yoga studio, and to Broadway for dinner. There are many great restaurants much closer to the hotel as well, 5 minute walk for breakfast and lunch. Wish we could have extended our stay. Very much looking forward to our next stay at The Russell.

Such an awesome place to stay in Nashville, really made our whole experience so special! Very close to downtown - 7 min by Uber, 30 min walk. Near plenty of hipster restaurants, bars and shops in East Nashville. Check in was super easy, lobby is absolutely beautiful and our room was so spacious and cute. Love the photo booth in the lobby, such a fun idea, and to top it off, they donate to charity! Stay here, you will not regret it :)

Such an interesting reimagining of an old church! Staying at The Russell is beyond just a place to lay your head. It's a gorgeous building, a tasteful and clever renovation, and a quiet and safe neighborhood. We can't stop talking about it and showing off pictures to our friends. Plus, it's a great value for what you get. Being so close to downtown and having free parking (monitored by cameras even!) was a treat. Plus, the added touches like robes in the rooms, easy device charging by the bed, and lovely common areas made it extra special.
