We needed a place to stay for one night because we were going to a friend's birthday party. It didn't need to be the most luxurious but it did need to be safe and clean. It was about a half a mile from our party destination which would make for fast easy travel back and forth. It looks like the owners purchased an old motel and renovated it to the little gem it is now. The parking area is very nice looking. Small but cute. I think maybe 5 cars can fit. If the lot is full, you have to find street parking. The room was nicely renovated with modern decor. The shower was nicely tiled and had updated fixtures. Our habit when we get to any hotel room is to clean with disinfectant wipes. To our surprise and delight, we did not encounter a lot of dust or grime as we cleaned. There were a couple of spots that appeared not to have been touched in awhile but I may have gone too far by wiping the top sides of the hanging rack. It had all of the amenities that you may need although getting ice was an interesting adventure in the rain. I would definitely stay here again for a short 1 or 2 night trip but no longer. If you are looking for an affordable nice clean room for a night or two in San Diego, I would definitely check this place out.

Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Idk why people say the beds are comfortable, ours wasn’t. And don’t expect it to be quiet either. You can hear everyone through the walls. Like not even the room next to you, all of the rooms.I felt like I could hear the entire hotel. And it appears to be a local hang out/argument spot for locals. It’s so loud you can’t sleep. We got back from a long day and we couldn’t find a parking spot. We had to park down the street. That was the icing on the cake. And you can’t hear or talk to the front desk guy very easily because he is literally standing in a plastic sound proof box. We had to ask him to repeat himself only about 10 times per question.

Don't let appearances deceive you. While the outside may present well on the outside this truly is a 3 star hotel. You can hear every sound in the rooms from the rooms next door as well as from the road. WiFi never would actually connect, and the attendant at the desk was very impersonal. No breakfast, no coffee in the rooms. Otherwise the rooms were clean. If it wasn't for the fact that every hotel in the area was over priced we would have easily gone elsewhere. The free self parking they announce is a nice touch, but I wouldn't call that an amenity.

I just stayed at this hotel last night and it was super cute. The location was pretty good too there is a dennys down the street and other places. The only thing is parking, there was only like 6 parking spots for the hotel and the rest were for the houses by the motel. The room was pretty small so if you have a big family I won’t recommend this motel. The service was alright the guy that works there doesn’t talk much but is very fast and efficient. But the room was super cute, it had a small bathroom but it did the job. And the room was very clean and the beds were comfy. Has a fridge and coffee maker too. But if you are looking for a small little town motel for like a day it’s a pretty good place to go and cheap!

Well for starters the woman said my military ID wasn't valid proof and demanded to see my "regular ID" which is expired keep in mind some people checking in are in the military and dont have the same luxuries as everyone else and I just got back to the states that night and I haven't even had a chance to renew my Driver's licenses yet she asked me why is it expired I told her "I just got back from a year at sea but my military ID is still good" so than she accepted the military ID afterwards. Than I walked in the room and looks clean and nice but than I went and looked at the tub it looked like it was barely cleaned and there was hair still in it. I wish there was also a microwave in here sometimes you got leftovers from a restaurant you want to eat later but theres no where to warm it back up. Wifi is good as long as it connects... I also feel like I was slightly overcharged for the lack of amenities this "motor hotel" had to offer.

Pros 😃: Close to cool stuff, clean rooms, good water pressure in the shower. The surrounding neighborhood seems pretty safe. Madeleine’s down the street is good for breakfast. Cons 😡: Paper-thin walls, you’re gonna hear EVERYthing from next door. Parking is a nightmare in this neighborhood and if you miss one of the motel’s five parking spots on a busy night, you’ll spend an hour circling the block looking for a spot. The rooms are right on a major street so street noise is loud at night.

As far as three star hotels go, I was really happy with this. Weirdly, they had a coffee machine with no cups and no plastic cups anywhere for water or drinks or anything. But besides that, rooms were quite pleasant. Living room with tv and couch, decent bathroom, and a bedroom. Also had a kitchen in living room (no pans or anything though so you’d have to bring your own cooking ware or plates or silverware) The location is really great if your priority is visiting stuff in North Park also. Lots of really great food right next door

In short: The manager and owner kicked us out of the hotel, no one ever told us that dogs were not allowed (my mom checked into the hotel while she was holding her 20 pound small Tibetan terrier). There was a small sign at the counter that said no pets no smoking, but the manager on shift did not say dogs were not allowed so it was on him that this happened, no one said anything so we thought it was okay. Not only did the manager not refund the money for the second night, but she threatened to charge us an extra $100 on top of the two nights we already paid for. She also threatened to call the police on my mom claiming that she was trespassing if we did not leave the premises because we were keeping our dog on the premises. This is truly a less than average hotel. Like others say, the looks are deceiving.

If you are disabled and require accommodations do not reserve a room here. I politely asked for a room on the bottom floor because I am in a wheelchair. I understand that weekends are busy and they are full, however, I am not sure how so many people could have requested a bottom floor room and they could not accommodate switching the room they booked for me on the second floor with a room on the bottom floor. I received the worst customer service from the front desk representative who did not want to give me her name at all until I persisted and most certaintly did not want to help me. FYI her name is apparently Alicia. Also, she stated the manager David is out of town when I asked to speak to a manager and could not help me. Apparently this hotel is unaware of the Disabilities Act. I am a very kind person who has gone through life with a smile on my face. However, I am very saddened and disappointed with the customer service I received today. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities and guarantees equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodations, state and local government services, and telecommunications.

Wish I could give a -10...worse place we've EVER stayed... Noisy, cramped, no windows, no closets, no storage, no pkg. Front desk always yelling, at guests & each other, housekeeping was wonderful but only decent thing about this place. Location horrible unless you love a Dennys environment. These ppl need a crash course in customer service for sure!

I have lived in San Diego long enough to have seen this hotel remodeled twice and each time it's remodeled and new owners come in they elevate the experience it is a decent travel Hotel worth the price clean mostly essentially located if you have a car but a good price for the convenience of the hotel

👍🏼Reasonable price, clean and updated room! 👎🏼 when I was booking there was only information free parking , but few hours before check in I received a email, they told me they only had 6 parking spots “on a first come first serve”, so I couldn’t get a parking spot and needed to leave my car on next street!

what a horrible place. you can hear every word in the next room. we had some old guy accuse me of smoking in the room when it was in my mouth not lit, and he was pacing in front of all the room like we were going to steal something. the rude lady at the front wouldn't even give me a couple extra coffee bags even though I said I would pay for it. This place is not worth the issues

Surpringly...quaint. Nice upgrades to exterior & rooms. This place is about convenience (North Park Obervatory) & fits the bill perfectly at 5 minutes away via ride apps. Post-show grinds at Roberto's or SD Chicken Pie Shop & post-show. Multiple eating/drinking options an easy walk away.

I have stayed in just about every hotel in San Diego, and this one was by far the best. The cleaning staff takes their job very serious, the entire property stays immaculate which says so much about a hotel. I can’t say enough about the pristine condition of the place, thank you Berkshire. The management was always kind and helpful, and willing to go out of their way to help. Location is perfect, walking distance to North Park, Hillcrest, University Heights, and Adam’s Avenue. You can also catch a bus right out front that will link you to every part of San Diego.

This is a very clean and quaint motel at a very reasonable price. The staff is amazing. Absolutely attentive and courteous. They gave great recommendations (Red Fox shrimp basket was fire!) and they are real chill about their guests. I will definitely be back for all my San Diego stays if the have vacancy. Perfect location, walking distance to excellent bar (Gilly’s) this is a great place to stay, home away from home.

I was in town for just one night and I found this place while googling places in the area. The reviews were great and so was the price. I arrived earlier than expected and I called about possibly checking in early. I was told if I came in an hour the room would be ready. Perfect!! Check in was easy and I was then told they were gonna put me in the studio apt instead of the smaller room I booked. I didn't expect thar but it was a great surprise. Though it was just me it was nice to feel like I was in my own little home. The studio was great !! Clean and comfortable. I will definitely stay again when I'm in the area. It was the perfect stay.😊😊😊

Excellent hotel at those price point. Clean and updated rooms. Safe and convenient location. Before booking, I read some complaints about the parking. Those are misleading. I have walked a lot further from parking lots/structures from many other hotels and not thought twice about it. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise given how inexpensive the rooms are. Definitely coming back!

Clean, freshly remodeled. Great rates. Parking is limited. Neighborhood is "active". Not sure if that's good or bad. No issues during my stay.

Stay was more than great! They were super accommodating after a reservation fell through somehow, and gave us a room super quick. Very clean rooms and good communication. Would definitely stay again if I’m back in the area!!

Omg. Omg. The crankiest crabbiest inn keeper I’ve met. And that’s saying something. It’s like the final deciding interview question to work here is: ‘’How bitter and angry are you with life in general and how you make your clients feel it’s vaguely their fault before they’ve checked in? Moreover, how can you instill this sense of impending guilt and doom while having them pay full rate?”

The night manager knew I was coming and saved me a parking place with his vehicle. So thoughtful. The room was super clean. Everything worked. It was a great stay. Close to lots of things and convenient. I'd stay here again.

This is a clean motel in a central area close to plenty of good restaurants and bars. Ten minutes from the zoo. Parking is VERY limited which would be my only real complaint. For the price, you're not going to get anything better in the area.

The room was a bit small, but beautifully updated and extremely quiet –– we were in #17 in the back. The desk and cleaning staff were excellent and had great attitudes. The phone in the room was not configured for outgoing calls which was inconvenient (hence the 4-stars for the room), but the desk man called taxis for us when needed.
