This was once the world’s largest wardrobe - of Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad - with a length of 240 feel and has 124 almirahs to this day. History says that Mir Mahboob Ali Khan did not wear same dress twice. This speaks why the wardrobe had to be the world’s largest. This wardrobe today is a part of the ‘Nizam’s Museum’ or the HEH Nizam’s Museum in Purani Haveli (Palace of the Nizam’s) in old city, Hyderabad. The Nizam’s museum does not deal with anything less than gold, silver and ivory. This museum showcases gifts which the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, received on his silver jubilee in 1936. Most of them are models of landmark buildings in Hyderabad which were built by the Asaf Jah Dynasty. The museum which is open on six days from 10 am to 5 pm except on Fridays, charges Rs 120 as entry fee, Rs 150 for photography and Rs 20 for parking. While the museum is sure to leave you spellbound, the museum staff were not so customer-friendly. If you plan to visit the museum, remember that there are no sign boards, not even on the compound wall, except for one which is inside the premises. So don’t be confused if Google maps takes you to Mukarram Jah School because the museum is located in the school premises. The museum and the school are maintained by the descendants of Nizam. The museum also has the original throne of the seventh Nizam apart from a wide variety of collection including replica of the world famous Koh-i-Noor and takes almost an hour or two to view all the galleries in the museum. Good to visit with people who are fond of history. #NizamsMuseum #HEHNizamsMuseum #PuraniHaveli #AsafJahDynasty #Nizam #Gifts #Gold #Silver #Ivory #History #PeekInToHistory #WorldSLargestWardrobe #OldCity #Hyderabad #Telangana #India #Tourism #TelanganaTourism #Travel #Explore #Heritage #MustVisit #RichInHistory

Lots of interesting things and the History of Hyderabad in the museum. Located right next to Purani Haveli where you can't enter. Highlights of the museum are Nizam's wardrobe which is the world's longest. Golden Tiffin box and a throne. It's kind of like a Private museum, so it's better to go with a guide which most of the visitors do.

The Nizam’s Museum also known as the Purani Haveli Museum or the Silver Jubilee Museum, Hyderabad, Telangana, India was created at the wish of the seventh/last Nizam of Hyderabad. His rule along with his father’s rule spanned roughly a century from the middle of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century. During these years, the State of Hyderabad saw great development. The progress achieved by all the talented people concerned was celebrated in 1937 when a series of Silver Jubilee celebration functions of his coronation was organized. These celebrations were held on the completion of 25 years of rule of the seventh Nizam. The Jubilee Pavilion Hall was built specifically for this purpose at the Public Gardens, Hyderabad, Telangana. It consisted of a dais at one end on which the Nizam sat under an ornamental pavilion. Many mementos, models, decorative artifacts, building models, swords, paintings, and Addresses (formal declarations) were gifted to the Nizam then. Apart from these, he kept adding items presented to him later and constituted a Trust called H.E.H. The Nizam’s Jubilee Pavilion Trust to maintain and display this collection.

Awesome Museum.. Nizam’s Museum is not a huge museum. It is comparatively smaller than Salar Jung museum. There is an entry fee of Rs. 80 which is not much if you actually see the collection. It's personal collection of the Nizam, awesome stuff to see, I really liked the gold tiffin box with diamond on it! There is a HUGE cupboard, ivory tea set, beautiful and rare things. But sadly it is not kept in nice way.

It is a small museum in the old Hyderabad city also known as Purani Haveli. The ticket prices for this place is Rs. 125/- per head and kids are free. The rude person in the ticket counter demands exact ticket amount in cash, so one should carry exact change also, card or UPI payments they do not take. One has to take staircase to the first floor of this building, I haven't seen wheelchair accessible entrance to this museum. Guides are present in this museum who explain about few facts about the exhibits. The exhibits include various range of items, like costumes, jewelry, weapons, furniture, photographs etc. The museum displays the luxurious lifestyle of the Nizams. Seeing the condition I felt that this place needs proper maintenance as it seems to be in a dilapidated condition. If you are in a tight time schedule, you can skip this place. Other museums like Salar Jung museum or Chowmahalla Palace are much better than this place. Free parking is available outside the museum.

I’m rating it 3 coz I love museums but you can definitely skip it or keep this place for the end. Reasons : it’s not that huge, 3 halls, one with silvers that were gifted to the erstwhile nizam, his closet that’s really big as he is said to never repeat clothes & a room with historical facts. The silver is beautiful, some with rubies and diamonds. The location is inside a school campus so you may get parking but it’s a hassle to reach the spot, maps points it wrong and the road is congested, online cabs hesitate to come there. The big drawback, being a private museum- prices, 125 per adult and 150 additional for even mobile camera pics. Also it’s on 1st floor accessible by round wooden staircase only

The Nizam’s Museum is based in the Purani Haveli, the palace of the former monarchy. The museum showcases the antiques and souvenirs of the affluent Nizam family. The collection includes gifts from visiting heads of state, such as pieces of gold and early 20th-century vintage cars. Take a guided tour around the museum and learn about the culture and history of Hyderabad.

The museum is very nice and very good. They got world record and limca book record also. Everybody must go there and check all the items . All the machines are in workable condition. the timings of the museum is 9:30 am to 6 :30 pm everyday. The entry ticket is 60 rs per person age below 3 years is free to enter. If you want to use the mobile camera you have to pay 60 INR for that. The items in world war II is awesome and the man who maintain these items is very funny man I really appreciate him for joking.... They do rally in every 2 years on necklace road Hyderabad. The fountain pen 🖋️ vehicle is awesome 😎 and cool 🙂 .

Excellent information about old Hyderabad But needs proper labelling of the historical photos displayed. Visit before 3 pm as it closes at 5 pm. Needs at least 1-2 hours and the staff is eager to leave and start closing down before 5 pm. Ticket per person is Rs. 100/- . Glimpses of Hyderabad's history in a short visit that helps to understand and appreciate the Hyderabad of yore. Like

This museum consists of gifts received by the last Nizam Osman Ali khan on his silver jubilee. And the uniqueness is that most of the souvenirs are made of gold and silver. Moreover, the ticket costs around 125 for adults. Museum is not that big to be precise where it's well maintained and secured worth a visit.

A small museum tucked away in a corner of old city. The mansion, aptly named 'purani haveli', has a very welcoming haunted-house charm to it. In the four galleries you'll are silver models of many of Hyderabad's iconic landmarks and various asaf jahi paraphernalia. There's also a small city museum which offers a crash course on the history of Hyderabad.

The museum is a palace of age 300 years and has many antiques as exhibits for public to have look at them. Museum will be open for public from 10am-5pm with Fridays as holiday and entry fee per head is Rs. 100/- and extra Rs. 150/- if you are planning to take photographs in mobile or with camera. Guides will be available if required to get relevant information about the antiques without hassle although descriptions will be there. The antiques are of gold, silver, ivory and clothing. The wardrobe is definite attraction here which is of 150yrs as of today.

A small but beautiful museum in Purani Haveli, Hyderabad which tells us the story of the city itself. The premises remain open from 10 am till 5 pm.The entry fees is Rs.125 per head. For photography, they charge extra Rs.150 per phone/camera.Inside the museum, there are three halls in total, two showcasing various artifacts belonging to the last Nizam, designs of osmania university and various developmental projects undertaken by him. It also boasts of the 425 kgs of gold invested by His Highness to the National Defence Fund of India in 1965, which in itself is a world record. There is also a special 3D painting of the Nizam made from two rare glasses in the hall which will look straight into your eyes, doesn't matter in whichever position you remain. The third hall is a huge personal wardrobe of the Nizam as he never wore the same cloth for a second time.

Nizam's Museum is the small place, where you can see the gifts of Nizam and other equipments like furnitures, etc. You can cover this place in 30min to 1hr. The entry fees is Rs.100/- per person, which is too costly according to me for this small place. You need to pay extra Rs.150/- for camera. The surrounding of the museum ground is not clean. It should be maintained. You can get some information regarding the Nizam here.

Though not as popular as the Salar Jung Museum, this one is definitely worth visiting. It houses a selection of finest gifts and artifacts either received or collected by the Nizam's family. It is very interesting to see small scaled models of dams, universities etc. in silver to commemorate the part played by the Nizam's in their commissioning. It also includes a working model of a lift from some 200 years back as well as a huge wardrobe. It would be good if better care is taken of the entire museum and in particular the wardrobe which is very dimly illuminated.

Nizam's Museum is a great place to visit to get a glimpse of the gifts that used to be bestowed upon the Nizam by various dignitaries during that era. The Nizam's wardrobe too is something that you cannot miss. The only dampner was that the Nizam's jewels that used to have a place at the museum are no longer displayed there as they have been moved to the National museum at DELHI.

This is a private museum which is still under the maintainance of the royal family. The entry ticket is higher than the salar jung costing ₹125 per adult and also the camera charges are very high that is ₹150. You can also take a guide which would charge you around ₹300.Its a small museum with four hallways. The museum has majorly gold and silver items , king’s wardrobe and also a lift that was built first in India in his time. The way to museum is little bit confusing since the google maps doesn’t lead you to the exact entrance of the museum. But the locals are very helpful to guide you to the museum.

On first impression, it was an old run down building which houses the artifacts and remains from the beloved king, on the 1st floor. An interesting information was that its bowl and cups that were made to detect any poison served in them. At the end of the tour was the wardrobe storage of the king who adorned one different outfit each day for each of the 365 days. Awesome!

The Nizams Museum in Hyderabad - A Glimpse into Royal Splendor The Nizams Museum in Hyderabad offers a fascinating journey into the opulent era of the Nizams, the erstwhile rulers of the region. Located within the Purani Haveli complex, this museum showcases a rich collection of artifacts, personal belongings, and memorabilia belonging to the Nizams, providing visitors with a glimpse into their royal lives. As I entered the museum, I was immediately struck by the regal ambiance and the grandeur of the exhibits. The collection includes a diverse range of items, including costumes, jewelry, weaponry, furniture, photographs, and letters, among others. Each artifact offers a window into the luxurious lifestyle and cultural heritage of the Nizams, allowing visitors to connect with the bygone era. The museum is well-organized, with clear signage and informative descriptions accompanying the exhibits. The displays are thoughtfully arranged, providing a chronological narrative of the Nizam dynasty and its significant contributions to the region. The attention to detail and preservation of the artifacts are commendable, ensuring that visitors get a comprehensive understanding of the Nizams' reign. One of the highlights of the Nizams Museum is the opulent wardrobe of the last Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, which showcases an exquisite collection of costumes and jewelry. These intricately designed ensembles, studded with precious gemstones, reflect the grandeur and refinement that characterized the Nizam's lifestyle. The collection also includes ceremonial weapons and silverware, further adding to the aura of magnificence. The museum's layout provides a sense of the Nizams' living spaces, with recreated rooms and halls that give visitors a glimpse into the architectural splendor of the Nizam's palaces. The Diwan-i-Khas, or the Privy Council Hall, is a particularly captivating space, with its ornate decor and historical significance. It's truly a step back in time, imagining the opulent gatherings and decisions that shaped the region's history. The Nizams Museum also houses an impressive collection of vintage photographs, depicting the Nizams and their association with eminent personalities, both national and international. These photographs provide a historical perspective and give insight into the Nizams' interactions with political leaders, artists, and dignitaries of their time. However, it's worth noting that the museum's display may benefit from more interactive elements and audiovisual presentations to enhance the visitor experience. Such additions could provide a deeper context and engage visitors further in the history and legacy of the Nizams. In conclusion, the Nizams Museum in Hyderabad is a treasure trove of artifacts that offers an intriguing glimpse into the lives of the Nizams and their cultural legacy. Its impressive collection, informative displays, and historical significance make it a must-visit for history enthusiasts and those interested in the region's rich heritage. Exploring the Nizams Museum allows you to step into the opulent world of royalty and gain a deeper appreciation for the grandeur of Hyderabad's past.

"Nizam's Museum" incorporates a fantastic display of exhibits of gifts gifted to the Seventh Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur at the time of Silver jubilee celebration of his completion of 25 years of rule, these gifts were gifted by prominent and eminent personalities of Hyderabad and also by various departments. Which was celebrated in "Jubilee Hall" at public garden ( Bagh e Aam ) which was especially constructed to host this event. the Four Gallery are well maintained and kept nicely. Various Gifts, Moments of Gold and Silver from Nizam Rule are on Display. You will see the lavishness of the Nizam's of Hyderabad. Silver models of different structures are kept here ticket is 100 but worth the heritage of hyderabad, the artifacts are priceless

Very low profile ,but an excellent place. The tickets are bit pricey compared to rest of the places, but one needs to see to understand why it's so. The museum is very small, 3 rooms only but worth going for it

  • 2/5 Digvijay P. 2 years ago on Google
The most of the artifacts are replicas of original. The staff is forcing to take guide and only three gallery their. One with silver gifts to nizam at different events and silver toys and cradle of 7th nizam. Another is with gold items. Most of them are replica along with Kohinoor diamond. Last one is 176 feet long wardrobe of nizam 6th.

Rs 125 per head tkt. 125 for camera. Extra if you need guide. Lot of good this to see if you are history lover. Good collection of things. But locals also guide you to Salarjung museum if asked for Nizam Museum. Google map shows wrong location.

  • 3/5 Saptorshi M. 2 years ago on Google
It's a private museum, on the outskirts of the city, the positive thing is one will get to visit different Nizam era architecture

  • 1/5 Aamir A. 1 year ago on Google
Private museum very high entry fee and photography charge. Very bad behaviour of museum staffs and security guards are only buzy to make the visitors out from the museum. Museum is consist only in three hall which display the collection of memoirs, gifts of seventh nizam. Entry fee rs 125 photography charge rs 150 But no value of money.

This is one of the 3 main museums is Hyderabad and is averagely maintained. The logic of not allowing pics to be taken is unwarranted though...

The Nizam's Museum is a captivating journey through history. Its exquisite collection of artifacts, jewelry, and royal belongings offers a glimpse into Hyderabad's royal heritage. The well-curated exhibits and informative displays provide an enriching experience. Visiting the museum is like stepping back in time to the Nizam era. A must-see destination for history enthusiasts and culture lovers alike.
