This museum is truly a journey into the life of Mahatma Gandhi. A journey which will help you understand why he should he considered a Mahatma. His love for own Nation and love for own people made him a Social reformer. He become the voice of masses by being one of them. His lessons of life are tremendous. One best reason why we should visit museum is that we just visit them.. If visit them we develop a culture which may help this museum culture grow. Try to bring children and inculcate in them the true spirit of life.

Great museum of MK Gandhi. But is it required that by closing a school a museum is created. Will he (Gandhi ji) be happy or agree for such a waste of reality estate. There are already so many reality spaces dedicated to Gandhiji was this required?

  • 5/5 Yatrik B. 2 years ago on Google
School where gandhiji studied is converted to museum. On ground floor there 20 galleries depicting life of mahatma and on first floor there are 19 galleries describing his principles. At evening 7 there is a light and sound show as well. The galleries are very well and creatively conceptualized and well maintained as well. Must visit if you are travelling to Rajkot.

Online payment is not accepted on this date 25th November 2023 and that's why I didn't get entry. My whole family is into the museum and I was a little late to get entry. The one who can feel my problem will definitely get the reason behind the rating I left. I am wondering that in the era of Digital India, Mahatma Gandhi Museum of Rajkot is not accepting online payment on the ticket window. "Mera Desh badal Raha hai, aage badh raha hai (???)"

Very nice place to visit in Rajkot. Very well maintained, clean place. You can get a lot of information regarding Mahatma Gandhi and the place literally takes you back in that time. The service provided by the guides is up to the mark, and they are very helpful as well as polite, and the service provided by them is absolutely free. The entry fee of Rs.25 per adult and Rs.10 per child (very reasonable) includes the entry to the museum as well as the light and sound show in the evening. Timings for getting the tickets are till 5:30 or 6 in the evening. But I would suggest to get inside the museum latest by 5 as you need 1.5 to 2 hours to visit the whole place.

This is a modern museum, inaugurated in 2018. This visit proved to be best discussion. Entry fee for an adult cost just ₹ 25, which includes museum visit fee, tour guide fee & light-n-music show based for gandhiji theme. It took us 2-5 hours for complete guided tour. While light and music show start at around 7 or 7:30 pm, depending on when day-light ends. P.S : This place is Gandhiji's School, converted into museum.

One of the best kept secrets of Rajkot, the museum management is top notch, the staff is warm & courteous who offer services in Hindi & Gujarati. One of the rare museums which has been designed keeping the end user in mind. Congrats to Gujarat Govt for maintaining this so well !

The place is one of the tourist attraction in Rajkot. You may find alot of things to explore. This was my first time and I found it one of the most amazing place in Rajkot. There are very few places where you couf this type of vibes in the busy city like Rajkot. For kids, its the best place to visit. They could enjoy whole day over here. Its well maintained. I loved the vibe this place gives. Big garden, trees and so paceful.

A nice place to visit if you are in Rajkot. The museum is very informative and give each and every detail and important events that happened in Gandhiji's life. The true sense of proud being an Indian comes when one comes to know about the life life of Mahatma Gandhi ( The father of Nation). The Schooling, becoming a graduate, studying in Law firm and then dedicating one's whole life to the Mother Nation and for the independence of people is truly patriotic, in the real sense being a Mahatma for the nation. The Gallery of the Museum is worth seeing and the premises were clean and spacious with young guides who will explain you every detail of the exhibits!! Evening time is the best to visit this place and the light show around 7.15 pm is truly mesmerizing. A lot of parking space available along with that clean and Hygienic washroom are available. Also the ticket 🎫 cost a minimal ₹25 amount. If you find this review helpful then do give a like and follow me on Google Maps. Thank you 🙏 Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Like any museum anywhere in India. Nothing extraordinary. But yes focused on the life of Mohandas Gandhi. Lots of subsections. I found it overwhelming, and a bit of an overkill on his story. Could work for others. They have an excellent canteen attached to the museum, which served some superb local food. Excellent, and much recommended. The big downer was the toilet on the premise. Walking into the men's section had a quote from Gandhi on health & hygiene, and the toilet stank of urine, and was infested with mosquitoes! Appalling & pathetic, given that this is run by Gujarat Tourism! Wonder why most public toilets across India are so badly maintained?

  • 5/5 Shailja A. 4 years ago on Google
It is an amazing place to visit. The whole museum is centrally AC. And it also has a canteen. The museum has covered the entire life history of Mahatma Gandhi. From his birth to death every important moment is nicely represented in the form of pictures, videos and art. Few games are also available for the children from which they can gain information and facts.

Great place to visit and learn about the freedom fighter - Mahatma Gadhi (the father of Nation). The museum's infrastructure is renovated and is very well maintained but i just have complain about the toilets here, not cleaned at all. Otherwise this place is very good to visit with anyone family, friends and has very helpful staffs. The guide will describe about almost evey gallery and about the things maintained here. I would like to give one suggestion that manage your time before coming here as it may take 2 to 3 hours to visit the whole area.

Still now Rajkot was having limited place preserved with memories of great leader MAhatmaji like kaba Gandhi no delo and rastriya shala.but no visualisation or things were available. With the conversion of Alfred school from where he had studied, is now converted in museum in short span and was inaugurated very recently by Hon’ble prime minister ,is must visit place during Rajkot visit . The set up is comparable to international standards.. volunteers are very helpful. While we spent about 2-2.5 hours, we couldn't complete seeing the entire Museum. We felt that it has been under publicised & deserves much more public attention. Opening timings for gandhi museum-All days of the week except Friday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM 2:45 PM - 5:30 PM

We did not think that we would be interested in the museum but found it extremely good. Gandhi's life and thinking was amazing and we would highly recommend a visit Set in a quiet compounds of old high school, this is a museum NOT to be missed ... to get the better understanding of what Gandhi's life was and how he came to be the Father Of Nation that gave India its Independence. The museum paints beautifully thru each halls (36 in all) the childhood, growth & the later years of Mahatmaji's life. The staff will give you undivided attention for hours on end if you really take your time thru the halls. 10/10.

Wonderful concept, the museum is centrally located in Rajkot City. Maintained, managed and run BEAUTIFULLY by the local municipal body...with attendants in every room to brief you on every detail of the gallery. Rare to see so much professionalism in a government department in our country.......definately worth a visit if in Rajkot ....a worthy tribute to the father of our nation. However, the 20 minute sound and light show held in the evening is a bit of a damper inspite of the grand projections mainly due to the uninteresting content....

If you happen to find yourself in Rajkot, I highly recommend paying a visit to this fascinating museum c, which was once the educational institution attended by Mahatma Gandhi called Alfred High School. Now transformed into a museum, this establishment boasts 39 rooms that showcase significant milestones in Gandhi's life and highlight his ideology. The museum is divided into two sections: the ground floor and the first floor. On the ground floor, you can delve into the remarkable journey of Gandhiji's life. The rooms here vividly depict the various phases and events that shaped his extraordinary path. As you make your way to the first floor, you'll be greeted by rooms dedicated to exploring Gandhiji's ideology. These spaces provide valuable insights into his principles and teachings. One of the highlights of the museum is Room number 34, where young children can engage in activities such as games and a studio experience called "Talk with Bapu." In this unique setup, children have the opportunity to ask questions to Gandhiji through a video recording, and he responds to their queries. This interactive experience cleverly captures the attention of visitors, and many share these videos on social media, thereby spreading awareness about the museum. The entry ticket charges for this museum are quite reasonable, with adults paying Rs 25 and children Rs 10. The duration of your visit can vary depending on your level of interest. On average, exploring the museum can take up to one and a half hours. However, if you are deeply inspired by Gandhiji's ideology, you may find yourself spending more time in contemplation. The museum boasts a dedicated staff who are available in each room to provide explanations and answer any queries you may have. Additionally, informative audio streams are available throughout the museum, aiding in your understanding of the exhibits. Interactive screens are also conveniently placed in each room, enhancing the overall experience. In conclusion, visiting the Gandhi museum in Rajkot is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. It is a highly recommended destination, especially for school-going children who can benefit from this enriching experience.
