Amaravati Archaeological Museum is Located in Amaravati village of Guntur District, which is @35 km away from District headquarters. This Museum discloses the sculptures in the form of galaxy of and the images showcase content that were once a part of the Giant Stupa. There are three Galleries in this Museum, which takes the visitors very close to the old history of this region and the life of the Gautama Buddha. When you entered into First Gallery of this Museum, one will get to see the ancient art traditions of this region. At the second gallery, you will get to see the life size standing pictures image of Gautama Buddha. You can also find some beads and gold coins in this gallery. Third gallery has some of the great sculptures that belong to 2nd Century BC. Overall my personal feeling is worth to visit this site and spending time is good for your knowledge enhancement Timings: Morning 10:00 to Evening 05:00 (Friday Holiday) Entry Fee: 5 INR for Indian Adults

After a drive of 35 km from Mangalagiri, we reached at Amaravati. However it is 45 km from Vijaywada and the attraction is not in Vijaywada as shown in Tripadvsior. After Darshan of Amarlingeshwar Temple, Amaravati, we went for Amaravati Museum. This museum is run and maintained by Archology survey of India. So we here find the place neat and clean. The museum is newly built and the building is of fully white color from inside and also in side. There is huge statue of Lord Buddha on the top of building and a nice view from road side. There are many sculpture in museum. Do visit when you are at Amaravati.

The maintenance is really good. The surrounding garden is also well-maintained. Street parking is available. Rs 5 entrance fee. Staff is always watching your moves.

Main sculptures: Life size statue of Buddha Nandhi statue Purna Kumbham Dharma Chaka Sila Thoranam Model Amaravathi Stupa You must visit this museum to know the great art work of our ancestors. A great place for history buffs to satiate their yearning for Indian history. This museum serves as an annexe to the Maha Chaitya (Stupa) a few hundred metres away. It houses some of the entities unearthed during excavations there as well as excavations from other sites in Andhra Pradesh. It houses a resplendent life-size sculpture of Lord Buddha. Don't miss the crystals unearthed from the Stupa that have objects embedded in them. The slabs of stucco with intricate carvings are a treat to admire. The courtyard at the back comprises slabs from other excavations, and it also has a breathtaking recreation of the Maha Chaitya in its times if glory. The sacred bull, Nandi too resides in the museum. The entire museum has a very salubrious ambience about it, with decently maintained gardens. Do not miss buying the Archaeological Survey of India's mini book on Amravati from here. It shall provide you with a lot of context and history into the Maha Chaitya's glorious past and demise as well as great commentary on the articles housed in the museum.

This is Archaeological Museum in Amravati, under Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. It houses lot of things including stones, sculptures, articles, etc. from earlier times. The place is difficult to find if you are not aware of this. It's only open between 09:00 am to 05:00 pm. Ans there was no entry ticket, if I remember correctly. Overall a nice experience in visiting such unique place. Happy travelling!!!!

Amravati Museum, Amaravathi Overview Amaravati Museum is a small but interesting archaeological museum in Amravati which displays exhibits that range between 3rd century BC and 12th century AD. Currently, the museum is run taken care by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Board. Some of the most beautiful exhibits include statues of the Buddha with lotus symbols on his feet, curled hair and long ear lobes. Apart from this, there are also limestone sculptures of goddess Tara and Bodhisattva Padmapani. Many of these Buddhist sculptures were excavated from here and now adorn the Chennai Government Museum and the British Museum in London.
