It was a good place but maybe only for tea lovers. They showed a movie about how tea plantation started in kerala and how the industry got a boost then they showed some old machines which were used to crush tea leaves and explained how it works. After that they send you to the shop where all their products are available with brand name " Ripple Tea " They have black tea, green tea, white tea and ice tea.

Museum houses a gallery of antiques / paintings dating a century back and traversing through the Tea evolution all through the years. They had a short film screened on the history of the facility and tea making in Munnar in general. There is a tea making tour showcasing the steps involved. Tea can be purchased and there are a variety of the same, didn't like the flavours though ! The journey to the Tea Museum and the estate surrounding makes it a pleasant sight to behold. Ample parking facility available and minimal entry charges .

The entry ticket is 125 rupees per adult. Inside you can see some history photos and tea powder preparation from leaves stage to powder stage. They will show you a documentary which tells about the history of tea which can be skipped. There is a tea counter which had many varieties of tea, the taste is average. The outlet sells different tea powders, chocolates, spices etc. This place can be skipped if you don't want to purchase tea powder. Time and money can be saved by skipping this museum. Outside the museum there is a tea plantation available.

For those who don't know anything about the tea plant or tea making process, this place would be a great place of knowledge. They portrayed many items which have some historic value. They will show the function of machinery i.e., the process of making tea and playing a documentary which is based on the lifestyle of tea planters. All is ok, but the entry fee is too high. At this price, the museum should be more organised and the guided tour should be more catching and exciting. Guides are mainly trying to convince you to buy tea packets from an outlet which is inside the museum. Even at the documentary show, if you are going late, then you might not get any chair to sit on. The items also need maintenance.

Lovely place to learn about tea harvesting and converting to the beverage we all Like . When you see the process one won’t drink tea bag tea anymore as that is the lowest quality of tea . Amazing views around the museum and tea factory. Bought some whole leaf tea and blended tea with spices like cardamom

The history of tea in Munnar begins from here. It's a nice place to visit with children, they will get to know everything about tea manufacturing and about the history of this town. A very well organized tour. Not giving 5-stars because of the dirty and unhygienic public amenities (washrooms) etc. The staff is humble and well trained.

It was really a great experience there !!! You get to know about the past of tea , various amazing facts related to the green tea and also some facts related to the tea we consume. Also there is machinery setup demonstrating how tea powder that is available in the market is made. You can purchase tea powder also from there. The cost of tickets for adults is 150 ₹ per head .

Don't miss the documentary to understand the history of tea plantations in this region. Around 30 mins movie. The movie is shown in a room with projector. Around 40 people can be seated. This may require some waiting for the next show to begin. Museum is very small... Just 3 rooms. The factory visit is very important to know how the CTC tea is made. Staff will explain everything. There is a shop to buy gifts, magnets, different varieties of tea, spices, fruit reserve etc etc. Small cafe also provides tea. The was a tea tasting option for additional 120₹ but unfortunately it was unavailable on the day I went. Enough parking space is available. ☕☕☕☕

Good place to understand how tea leaves are yielded, and the process from drying of the leaves till making the tea powder. The guide there explains in 3 different languages (English, Hindi and Malayalam). One can shop for tea powders, chocolates, safron, spices etc. Entry ticket is Rs.125 per person which I think is high. For tea taste learning, they charge Rs.120 separately. There's free parking available at this tea museum.

A documentary on the history of tea cultivation in Munnar is shown. Later , avery short tour on the manufacturing of tea piwder using CTC method is demonstrated. No tea tasting is present , however one can buy few cups of tea from the counter , and also tea packets from the shop present inside. Entry ticket is ₹125 per adult.

I really liked the Tea Museum as they present the history of tea making in the region in such a detailed way including the documentary. The person who was explaining the tea making process and the rest of the staff are well mannered .The Only negative point and a big one is the old gentleman explaining the benefits of Tea upstairs ,most of the things he say is unscientific and he make everyone uncomfortable.

This place on way to munnar is beautiful. The climate is very cold. The famous mountain goat 🐐 are visible at this place. You can do a small walking and see nilgiri kurinji flowers. Make sure you carry the required sweeter and caps. You will have to take the government forest van to reach this place. You will need a full day to spend in this place.

For those who do not know how tea is prepared, it is the perfect place. You are first directed to a video show which gives details of history of TATAs. No details of tea manufacturing were shown. Only the corporate presentation about the company was boring. You can skip it comfortably. It is better to go directly to the live demonstration of running machinery of tea manufacturing. It was too crowded when we visited. The upstairs lecture is also good. Then you are directed to the tea shop and tea testing area.

One of the most favourite places for all the tourists who visit Munnar. They will guide you throughout the whole process of tea. How they grow it and harvest it and make a tea and they will also give you a taste and then you can buy tea packs. Must visit this place if you are a tea lover.

Entry fee is 125 . We can order tea inside costing around 25rs to 40rs but this They can give free tea as the entry ticket is not value for the place. Parking is free . Not much wait time to get the tickets. Crowded though. This is a tea museum so you can visit tea factories to get better idea of how they actually make tea. Tea packets inside are costly. You can find the same manufacturer with normal packages in the town area

The museum is pretty basic and we were rushed through each step. In my opinion 125/head entry fee is little bit high. They show a 30min documentary which was okay and the tea making process which was interesting. Since there isn’t much to do in Munnar, you could spend some time here. They also have a wide range of teas that you can shop from at a decent price.

As museum it's past its glory and lacks the required. The tea making journey was interesting but it could have been better with proper signage and description. Overall, a place good to visit and know but no regret incase you miss it; unless you are ardent tea lover and want to buy some varieties of tea at their store.

A small factory shows the process of making tea from leaf and A museum showing pictures and things from British time, showing history of tea. Back side they have their own shops for buying various flavors of tea coffee, essential oils and spices! Price is good you can buy gifts for relatives from here too!! must mentioned point is the view of tea gardens both the side of road and mountains covered with clouds is really beautiful! You can stop on the side of road to take pics or to have Maggie with tea/coffee!!!

Tata company has more than 4 tea processing units in Munnar, helping the needy and giving us many flavours of tea like ripple tea, flavoured tea, green and white tea... It has a tea museum to give us the knowledge of tea factory initiative

Nothing is there, better visit some functioning tea factory. They have only a few museum pieces that are not related to tea museums. And they got some documentary with some museum piece projector 😅. And a tea factory that is not functioning. And finally they take extra cash for tea tasting. That is excluded in the entry ticket price of 125rs. So totally not worth the money. Especially if you are visiting as a group you are just wasting time and your money. In cash you want to donate some money go for it....

Place to see tea making process. People buy tickets and then they firat go to watch a show regarding history of tea. Speakers were not of good quality. After that people went to see factory machines. There were so many people that we could not see what the person who works in factory was explaining. People can try different kinds of tea here and buy too.

Just a waste of money. All they show is a movie about how Britishers started tea plantations blah blah and they charge you 125 per person. Not at all worth going inside, but I must say the view outside the tea museum is amazing which is obviously free of cost. So instead of wasting money inside use your valuable money and time outside enjoying the view

The place could be a bit difficult to find. Parking facilities and washroom facilities are available at the place. We did a short photo session near their tea plant. The way how tea is being processed the instruments processing units were kept for display. A Video was played for the general audience who visited the place to watch the over all process through videography.

It is one of the best spot to visit in Munnar. The ticket rate is Rs.125 per head. First they will show us a small documentary session about how they started and what all things affected them and where they are now. Then they will explain and show us the making process of tea, starting from the tea leaves to the tea which we buy from shops. Tea also have different varieties. We can also buy tea packets from their outlet with a discount. Different varieties of tea are available there. Different variety of chocolates are also available with rare choices in flavour. We bought chilly chocolates and it was really nice.

If you interested in knowing the history of tea, then must visit place, otherwise you can drop this from your itinerary. You can see the process of making different grades of tea. Ancient telephones and typewriters are also showcased. You can also buy variety of tea and chocolates. The price is reasonable compared to market.

One of the must visit spot in munnar. They charge Rs. 125/- per head. Museum is located amidst the greeny mountains which is covered by tea plantation. Easy to locate and have wide parking area. First, they will show how they started, where they are now and how tea was prepared via one documentary session then we will happen to see the same in live. We will be accompanied with one guide where he will explain the process in our comfortable language. One could experience the real freshness of tea in and out. Also, they have small outlet where you can buy freshly prepared tea packets. They have large varieties of tea. You will get to gain some knowledge about tea making process when you come out!!

Museum is divided into old exhibition and the production part. The exhibition should be renovated because the objects thus interesting could be much better presented. Part of the exhibition is a cinema hall which I’ve missed cause of lack of time. The production part is a real highlight here - staff is presenting how do they process picked tea leaves. Astonishing views all around the place.

The Tea Museum in Munnar is a popular tourist attraction, located in the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea in Munnar, Kerala. The museum is situated amidst tea plantations and displays the history and growth of tea plantations in Munnar. The museum showcases the evolution of tea plantations, various stages of tea processing, and the history of tea culture in India. The Tea Museum is spread across four floors, and the ground floor houses a tea shop where tourists can purchase different varieties of tea. The first floor showcases old machinery and equipment used in the tea-making process, including the Rotorvane, a machine used for tea processing, and other machines that were used in the early days of the tea industry. The second floor displays various photographs and exhibits that portray the history and culture of tea in India. The highlight of the museum is the tea-tasting session, where visitors can taste different varieties of tea, including green tea, black tea, and white tea. Visitors can also observe the tea-making process at the demonstration section on the ground floor. In addition to the museum, visitors can also explore the tea plantations around the museum. The Tea Museum is a must-visit attraction for anyone traveling to Munnar to learn about the history and culture of tea in India.

Located near the munnar city. Most of the tourists visit here to have a look at the tea making process. Entry ticket is 200. You can have an auto from munnar town to here with 100. One auditorium is here where you can watch a video of the evolution of the tea business in munnar. You can watch the tea making process with the machinery. You can taste different types of tea with the price of 20-50Rs per cup. Tea shop is there where you can buy tea packets of different flavours. One hanging bridge is there outside of the museum which is good for photography. The environment is so green and beautiful for photography.

A small museum that focuses mostly on the history/ownership of the tea plantation it is located on rather than tea itself. There is a demonstration of machines used in the process of making tea but it feels quite rushed. We spent about 40 minutes there, taking our time to read everything. It is surrounded by picturesque tea fields.

It could have been better for tourists if tea is provided as a complimentary drink instead of being in rush to do tea tasting activity... Which is usually slipped by people because of rush... Person who is explaining should use English instead of their local language

Not much for sight seeing, journey from Munnar town to tea museum is quite good. One experienced person explains about history of tea and all, that’s interesting to an extent. But the quality of ripples tea is too good, I personally purchased Tea Packets and Coffee Packets, taste is quite good for its price.

There is a video show about the history of Munnar, worth watching, but the audio quality was very poor (may be because of the fan operating in that hall). Then there was someone did a demo of the old tea factory - also not worth spending time, as the explanations were less than adequate. Looks like they were trying to market their green tea and related products more. They have a stall to buy their tea products, ample car parking and toilets (not so clean, I must say) as well.

Tea Museum is an interesting place for those who likr to drink tea, want to know more about history of tea growing at Munnar, and want to buy souvenir like printed mugs or t-shirt. Here you can enjoy a documentary of about 30 minutes describing the history and presently how Tata is managing Kanan Devan Hill Plantation Pvt Ltd. (KDHP). Here all the employees are shareholders of the company. Here you can see a live demonstration of how tea is cut, oxidised, dried and sorted in various grades from bigger grains to dust. After watching this live tea making process, you can enjoy refreshing cup of tea of your choice in its cafeteria. It has its own factory outlet from where you can buy the premium white tea, green tea, and of course the regular tea including flavored tea. You can also buy authentic Kashmir saffron packed by KDHP. If you don't visit this place in Munnar, you really miss an important place of interest.

Entry fee is Rs.125 per person , which is a bit expensive when compared to what they offer. 125 rupees just for showing a documentary of around 30 minutes and a guided tour to mini tea factory. In the mini tea factory, smaller machines are set up which they will operate and explains the process of tea making. If you are keenly interested to know the history of tea making , you can pay for the ticket and visit the place. Else I would suggest you to avoid the place.

Nice place to visit in Munnar if you are interested in the history behind making of Tea !!!! We bought chilly chocolates and it was really nice..... Museum give a fair idea about how the tea plantation was made and equipments used at that time and how it's done at present day. There is a documentary (½hr) depicts the more details. Different tea flavours are available here...!!!!!!

Its looks gorgeous from outside-the typical moonar style architecture. But i didn’t find much of that for a museum inside. They had a video documentary thats the main part of the museum visit and that just consumes about 30 plus minutes of your one hour time allowance. Though it is very informative to understand the history and culture of kannan devan hills plantations, i would recommend to cut short that into 10 mins. The hall was fully occupied at the beginning but i was the only one to max it to the finish of video. Yes people came for expression and not to watch lengthy documentary. There are some sculptures of real stuffed wild animal heads like bison, etc. Wifi is interesting. And rest is some household items used by old estate managers. There is a sample machines installed to show the prices of tea manufacturing. Though it’s all working still do not catch much attraction. Much better to visit the live factory which is about a kilometer or two from that location to understand well about and to see live production. They got a company shop outlet there ( one of the six in town). I bought wild honey, plum jam, CTC tea, some spices etc. The tea pack got offer when you buy the 500 gram packs of Ripple Tea - the tea brand established by the KDHPC kannan devan hills plantation company, after the tats exited plantation business- for 200 each there will be another one for free. ( buy 3 get 1 free), however later i found the branded original kannan devan 500 gram packet from my supermarket for just 160 rupees!!

Very neat, clean and peaceful in and around here. The history is well depicted and the guide there is happy to cater all your questions. The factory store seems a bit expensive if you’re not buying bulk. They also have a 30 mins documentary which is optional. Some of the pieces kept at the museum are really amazing and give you that ancient vibes. Do stop by if history or tea is your thing!😉

Lovely place to check out if you're in the area, especially for tea enthusiasts. A nice visit with a knowledgeable guide. It was interesting to learn about the history of tea as well as the process of making it into what it is today. There was a documentary available for viewing as well as a variety of tea sold at the museum's shop. All in all, a good experience.

The museum is very small and a paradise for tea lovers. They have a small documentary about how tea plantations and then they show the machinary actually used to produce tea from tea plants. The staff is very well trained and have a in-depth knowledge of the machinery and and the in out id the tea production . We missed the first explanation with everyone so the person explained us everything seperately which was a very beautiful gesture. He even showed us the by running the machinery and breaking down the tea. Finally you have a small store where you can buy varieties of teas like black green, green tea and white tea.

Spend an hour here exploring the history of tea, in Munnar. Entrance fees are around 100rs per head. Take your time going through the exhibits inside. There's a short documentary that plays at defined times. A shop floor that walks you through the basic tea production process and of course a shop , stocking Ripple branded products and memorabilia.

I found the museum’s exhibits to be somewhat lacking in terms of interactivity and engagement. While the information provided was educational, the presentation could have been more captivating. I would have appreciated more interactive displays or multimedia elements to enhance the overall experience. Another aspect that could be improved upon is the organization of the museum. The flow of the exhibits felt a bit disjointed, and it was sometimes challenging to follow the chronological order of the tea-making process. A clearer layout or guided tour could have helped visitors better navigate and understand the exhibits.

Until we got there, we had a different perception of the Tea Museum. A must see place. The surrounding areas are very beautiful. Kannan Devan Hills, its history and surroundings can be seen there in documentary form. Also, the tools used at that time are well preserved there. Tea processing is explained very clearly. Also you can buy first quality tea

    # My Visit to the Tea Museum in Munnar Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the Tea Museum in Munnar, Kerala. It was a fascinating experience that gave me a glimpse into the history and culture of tea production in India. Here are some of the highlights of my visit. The Tea Museum is located in the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea, which is one of the largest tea plantations in the world. The museum is housed in a heritage building that dates back to the 1880s. The museum showcases various aspects of tea processing, such as the machinery, tools, photographs, and artifacts that were used in the past and present. One of the most interesting exhibits in the museum is the tea tasting session, where visitors can sample different varieties of tea and learn about their characteristics and flavors. I enjoyed trying out different types of tea, such as black, green, white, oolong, and herbal. I also learned about the health benefits of tea and how to brew it properly. Another exhibit that caught my attention was the demonstration of tea plucking by women workers. They showed us how they skillfully pluck the tender leaves from the tea bushes using their fingers and baskets. They also explained how they sort and grade the leaves according to their quality and size. It was amazing to see how much work and care goes into producing a cup of tea. The museum also has a souvenir shop where visitors can buy various tea products and souvenirs, such as tea bags, tea pots, cups, mugs, books, postcards, and magnets. I bought some tea bags and a book on tea history as a souvenir of my visit. The Tea Museum in Munnar is a must-visit for anyone who loves tea or wants to learn more about it. It is a place where you can immerse yourself in the world of tea and appreciate its rich heritage and culture. I highly recommend it to anyone who is planning to visit Munnar.

The Kannan Devan tea plantation KDHP museum is situated at Nullatanni, Munnar. Its the India’s first tea musem. They charged Rs.125 ticket per head for adults. Once you collect the ticket, they film a short story of how the tea plantation begun in the early 1876 right from having a conversation with the Britishers, selecting the geographical location to plant and harvest, choosing the labour, how to transport using rails and export, the needs and uses of different varieties of tea etc Then they take us to visit the exhibited products that was used centuries back, the history was explained by a guide. Then they guided us to the miniature tea factory set up, explaining the very minute details and process of tea making. This really attracted all the guests and foreigners to know the value and culture of India. In this video you can find various steps involved in processing the tea like how its harvested, collected, withered, steamed, rolled, drying, grading, how its packed. They also have an sales outlet, you can purchase them. The Product is called Ripple and various Chai bazaar outlets exhibits tea products where you can see in and around Munnar if you like to purchase outside the museum. Don’t miss sneak peek into this wonderful experience. #Follow us on @gluttonnomadsposts #gluttonnomadsposts #glutton_nomads #gluttonnomadsposts #TravelWithGluttonNomads #gluttonnomads👫 #gluttonnomads #viral #trending #GatheringMemorySpheres🔮 #travel #food #bangalorenomadnavigator👩🏻‍🦰 #MunnarDairies #KeralaDairies #BodiDairies #teamuseum #KDHP #KannanDevan #tea #outlet #factoryvisit #ancient #culture #teaplantations
