Zoo is updating. Stay tuned. Its just superb. Just 5mins distance from byculla station. Crocodile's still to come. But turtles were just fabulous and penguins were so cute. Pure Drinking water, coolers, clean toilets available. Space to sit, souvenir shop, photography statues like giraffe, dinosaur, penguins, waterfall, zebra, entrance gate with monkey status and much more. ENTRY FEES JUST 25/-PER PERSON AND 100/-FOR FAMILY. Later can go to charni road beach by best bus just outside gate time frame to reach around 25mins. Or or to siddhi vinayak mandir dadar and dadar beach again in half n hour distance to reach at peak time. Check location via google maps.

There are a total of 14 penguins in India and you can see 9 of them here. This also happens to be the first and only place in India where two penguin chicks 'Oscar' and 'Oreo' were born. The names of the 7 adults birds are Daisy, Donald, Molt, Flipper, Popeye, Olive and Bubble. They were brought to the zoo in 2016 from Seoul. Though from the start the penguins have been at the centre of political tussle, I am happy that they have survived and reproduced in the artificially created habitat in Mumbai. I would strongly recommend you visit on a weekday to get a good glimpse of them moving around in the enclosure. There is no separate fee for accessing the Humboldt Penguin Section. Update: The count is now 12 at the Mumbai zoo with the birth of 3 more chicks. Their names are Alexa, Bingo and Flash. Update Aug'23: The number is now 15 😊. Thanks to Mr. Narayan Kamble who recommended us to come during the feeding time. It's a jovial experience!

This is penguin hall and inside the mumbai zoo. This is only major attraction to watch penguin but they are very small in size. It is worth to see. The hall is fully air conditioner but for penguin only. No charge for this, included in zoo entry ticket. Very crowded in weekend.

Only place in India to see penguins. Amazing experience and worthy. The penguins are kept in artificial environment. There is queue in front of the enclosure and nobody is allowed to halt and watch for long time. Security is proactive here. Photography and use of mobile are strictly prohibited.

The park is under maintenance from about sometime when I last visited a year. But it's partially open. After the remake it's much better. There's a canteen inside. It's clean. Charges are nominal. Penguin 🐧 are best attraction. Monkeys too. My only complain is the animals are too far and not enough space for some of them. Too many layers of net between the viewers and animals but understanding that the people sometimes go overboard and start feeding or irritating the animals it's in best interest of the place and people and animals there. The best time to visit is February as around that time there is flower and plant exhibition there. Beautiful flowers all types including flowers vegetables herbs all types of plants. One can even by things related to gardening and all.

It's a great place to hang out with friends and family. The animals are present and penguins are the highlight. Penguins are super cute. However, the guards near Penguins are super annoying because of their continuous whistles. That might disturb animals as well. Overall, a great place. The seabirds are great :) Importantly, it is very close to Byculla Railway station.

I have been to a lot of zoos and then in comparison this zoo becomes very pale. But I am proud of the fact that I have a zoo in my very own city. I have not been here post the renovation, but I am looking forward to it. Penguins definitely are an attraction and I would love to see them again :) I also liked the various birds. Thanks for reading

It's totally irresponsibility of the authorities not to mention through notice on newspaper or on gate that the zoo is closed , neither they provide any contact detail to get in touch to confirm.... It is closed temporarily till further notice

Penguin are beautiful... They are kept in cool glass packed cage photos are not allowed inside. Most of time you will find them lazy and standing at one place only... Better you visit them early morning or post 4 pm to c them in action.now there are only 7 penguin's left... Avoid weekend less the rush...more the time you will get to c them...

The Penguins are awesome. I don't think you can see them anywhere else in India. It's a nice outing for 23 hours and see some aquatic birds and Penguins. Although the place is under renovation and once that's done it will become more attractive

PLEASE NOTE THE ZOO IS STILL CLOSE DUE TO COVID. ENQUIRE BEFORE YOU COME The zoo is under renovation for last two years at present it is in very pathetic conditions. Except for elephants, deers & the crows flying on the tree there is nothing to see. Absolute example of corruption in BMC.

Dolphin Aquarium is a small park and fish aquarium. The aquarium building is in the center of the lake, surrounded by the beauty of water. There’s plenty of seating arrangements to take in the view, and there’s also a toy train and a play area for the kids. The park is small place with a few activities like train, boating, seeing birds and animals. Their are all imported birds and fishes, feeding the fishes while boating is another activity. Open on public holidays also. It takes around 10 to 15 minutes by rickshaw to reach the aquarium from Andheri West Railway Station and 8 to 10 minutes from Vile Parle West Railway Station. Car parking on the streets are available around the Aquarium.

Around 5 to 7 penguins (2 different breeds/variety) are there at the penguin museum. Must visit with kids and friends. Penguins are cute and adorable. Photography is strictly prohibited. Making noise and taking pictures charge a fine of 1200 INR. These rules are to be followed so that the penguins are not disturbed.

Inspite of warnings for not using lights and making noise, the staff is insensitive to penguins. They don't bother about flashlights and themselves keep blowing shrill loud whistles whole day. They are only interested in pushing visitors out. Perhaps a slow flat escalator can be installed to keep the people moving automatically similar to one in airports. Ticket price is included in main ticket. Great to watch the penguins. Advise to see this in end, as there is exit from zoo there. Else, there is a circuitous route to come back in zoo.

The zoo is currently undergoing a major revamp. So quite a few animals are off-display, at the moment. However, whatever parts are revamped are simply fabulous! It is definitely worth even going to take a glimpse of the partially revamped place once, before the zoo gets a fully new look. That's because it's not the animal enclosures that are being revamped but the whole experience of a 'visit to a zoo' is getting redefined! In a couple of months, it will be on par with or better than, any wildlife park anywhere in the world! ❤

Amazing place for all animal and bird lovers. Perfect place to spend time with your loved ones. The place has exhibits outside which has various birds, animals like different species of pigeons, love birds, turkeys, Hens, Emus etc and animals such as Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Cats etc. It also has an in house aquarium which has decent collection of its own. In addition to this there's boating available as well as Mini train ride for kids. There are different fees for main entrance, aquarium, boating however even if you do visit all you are going to cover it up around Rs. 100 per person of even less. Will try to mention exact prices if I visit again.

Penguins are really cute. They have adopted the surroundings. It's written on notice not to use mobile camera, dont make noise or shout. They are very shy. All this on paper only. But they are very friendly. Kids get excited by seeing them playing. Security people were more noisy by blowing their whistles very loudly. But the experience was nice, we have thought we will not get chance to see them. They are allowing visitors even till 5.00 pm. Kids loved them.

Penguins are adorable and very beautiful. But they didn't seem to be happy and healthy in the current environment I guess. They were all standing like statues and felt like they want to get out as in the movie Happy Feet, well they aren't supposed to entertain us as such but environment can be made in a way that the penguins enjoy.

The only Humbolt penguin present in mumbai is at" Veermata jijabai udyan-Rani baug" located at byculla east. Ticket charge is 50rs Separate building made for penguins with proper temperature maintenance. Photography and videography of penguins not allowed. Guards and police placed there. And only one time per ticket can go and see penguins. Around 4-5 penguins are present there, looks very cute and beautiful.

Amazing to watch small penguins play and dive in water . Good Ambience reasonable pricing .Beautiful animals.. But it was more like a darshan at some temple where people stand in a queue and have the glimpse of the deity for a minute or so.. 😂 the glass window has just one side view.. If the enclosure was made of glass on four sides visitors would have enjoyed and can spend more time watching the penguins.. Anyways well maintained but its more like a museum than a Zoo.. Wonderful and pleasant place. Well maintained, well staffed and clean. Most importantly, people coming here understand their social responsibilities. I wish the viewing are was a bit bigger. Nevertheless, very nice experience.

Only place in India to have a look of Penguins in this place. Kids really enjoy seeing them. However, measures should be taken to provide best of best fecilities to these innocent living being away from their actual place of origin and increase their population.

Should have been more cleaner. Plus very limited fish species. It's more like a private collection of fishes rather than aquarium.

Place is nice. There are lot of birds. But they need to maintain hygiene n should mention birds name. Aquarium is nice. Worth going once.

  • 5/5 arjun k. 3 years ago on Google
Very good place for kids to enjoy, although as they have opened post the lock down the birds are very few also you will find rabbit and toy train The pond has lot of fishes, ducks and turtles There is also boating in the pond and a big aquarium in the middle Best time to visit is between 4pm to 6pm Also the place is very quiet and had benches to sit

  • 5/5 neel s. 3 years ago on Google
I was surprised to hear they have 3-4 lakhs big size fishes in pound

  • 3/5 Swapnil K. 3 years ago on Google
Currently under maintenance. Few birds and fish aquarium is also closed. Only a few birds and rabbits in cage. The lock down has made it difficult for maintenance. I visited on Sunday with my 4 yr child. We bought INR 100 Fish food and fed the big fish and tortoises in water.

Nice place, need more visitors after pandemic, so that proper maintenance can be done.

  • 1/5 Legendary K. 3 years ago on Google
The aquarium is a disaster....the fish tanks are dirty ...most of the fishes are super stressed...no maintenance is undertaken here and it shows...it's kept in a pathetic condition....the birds and rabbits look stressed too...the pond is pathetic...the water is algae green...somebody should take the initiative to clean the pond...all dirt and gunk are just floating on the top making the pond a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes....the caretakers are not wearing gloves ...the seats are not sanitized and wiped...spider webs everywhere....looks like the aquarium management's have just lost Interest...they charge you 30 rs for entry and 50 rs for watching the fish(what to even watch the half dead fishes)....it's sad that fishes are suffering there.... somebody should audit this place ...am sure the water parameters of the tank and the pond is at pathetic levels...being a hobbyst myself ...I know for sure ..the nitrate and ammonia levels in the water is extremely high..making it toxic for the fish....I don't recommend this place at all....needs some renovations and revamping...

Recently visited the place, currently there is no much animals to see. Also fishes are very few in aquarium. You may can enjoy with your kids by feeding seafood to fish / duck / tortoise.

  • 2/5 Praveen Kumar N. 3 years ago on Google
It's not worth .Only Lots of fish are there, you can watch in the pond. And the birds. There is no variety of birds. They kept rabbit, cats, pigeon even hens. Take 30/- per person, which is not good because after visiting I felt that someone made me fool.

FinePlace For kids 50 bucks for entrance to park , penguin center is covered in it. 5 Hamboldt penguins 60 to 80 cm hight each. Make sure u dont throw tickets after u secure entrance to Jijamata Udyaan because its required at penguin centre

  • 1/5 Daniella F. 1 year ago on Google
The Penguins are flustered by the sheer noise those pathetic guards whistles make. There's a big poster saying keep quiet then u enter n all u here is 'pudhe chala' with screeching whistles. Its appalling to see these beautiful creatures treated this way. I wish they knew how to treat animals.

It was the best part of the Zoo, very cold to visit in the hot weather. Only thing is the trip is short if crowded as the security person will try to hurry you up to leave fast. Additionally they have a nice Food court inside the premises which is again with the AC. Only cold places in the zoo.

This place is located within Ranichi Bag which is now knows as Veermata Jijabai Garden which is located in byculla. It was not crowded as we visited on weekdays. It is very well maintained. But many other things were closed in Humboldt Penguin. There are small scale restaurants (South Indian, North Indians, Waffles etc) present post you see penguins. I felt little sad to see penguins conditions inside there as they have habit to live and roam over the artic region but here they have been caged.

  • 5/5 Thanu S. 8 months ago on Google

Though from the start the penguins have been at the center of political tussle, I am happy that they have survived and reproduced in the artificially created habitat in Mumbai.
