In monsoon days area around Tansa lake feels like you are in some hill station it is surrounded by hills, water falls, streams greenery everywhere and black tar paved road passing through all this beautiful scenery. People in this area are away from Office timing, GDP, increasing fuel prices ,economy, stock market etc. they are living very natural and peaceful life.

If there was any place you should be during monsoons then it has to Tansa. This place is certainly a birdwatchers paradise by quite a mile. Sadly I don't know the names of the birds, but I know one when I hear one. The area is humongous and certainly not be ventured alone because it is surrounded by forests on all sides. One can find villagers those, but they are busy with their own work around the corner. It is best to not carry anything that would lead to littering around the place.

The place is awesome with very calm and close to nature. The view of lake is beautiful. A nice place to have a picnic with friends and spend sometime lonely. Away from fast moving cities. A place to know yourself and being close to nature.

Riders... The place is just for you'll. Beautiful place to visit at least once. One won't get entry to the main spot unless you get permission from higher authorities but then the view of the lake can be enjoy from a place which is 5 minutes away from the bus spot point. Enjoy the beauty of the place during the ride too.

A peaceful and beautiful place located near Mumbai is a perfect place to spend time alone. This place is clean and tidy. This place is restricted so be aware. Don't swim in the water. This water is not for swimming. The place may be awesome during monsoon.

This lake is the main water supply for Mumbai region. We cycled here from the atgaon station. Total time taken was 15 hours and we braved the melting sun and the villagers also helped with some local food while we cycled that area. We went into the water also and did lots of fun.

This is a dam from which the water is supplied to all over the Mumbai there is so much of freshwater if the water is dirty then it will be polluted and the government will give fine or punishment will give the jail to the workers of the tansa Dam there is a very strict rule over there the mobiles are strictly prohibited while the working time the mobiles are not allowed that the workers have to submit that mobile to the reception is at the starting and while going they have to collect the mobiles there is a lake which is opposite to the tansa dam the workers use that water and purified it and supply all over the Mumbai it is very clean other peoples are not allowed that but when I was small I have gone there but the other peoples are not allowed there we have gone to a study tour we have learnt so much from that the workers were also very polite and kind they have teacher so much of things there I love it so much

Felt place had serenity and beauty, once you cross the narrow road between the pipeline, the road leads into lush green thick forest. Lots of birds and I personally felt re juvenated with the Greenery. In between certain spots open area and lake is visible . Carry a mosquito repellent as certain spots can be trouble some. Journey in a vehicle is pleasant

Nice place to visit and relax, Main entry points to this lake were having sign board “ entry restricted”. We took the off the route and reached to lake The first look was breathtaking and so peaceful. Try to reach here through bike it will a good experience. Roads are clean and are in good condition. If you want to spend your holidays in the company of nature, Tansa Lake is one of the best places to visit nearest to Mumbai where you can unwind in fresh atmosphere. The popularity of Tansa Lake as a weekend getaway is on a rise with locals and tourists making their way to this picturesque site. The lake is artificial and is surrounded by dense forests, so the area has been declared a wildlife sanctuary. The isolated location of the lake ensures regular sightings of endangered species of animals and birds, making it a must visit destination for wildlife lovers as well. Location: 12 Km from Asangaon Railway Station

It's beautiful, natural beauty is abundant. It's one of the main sources of drinking water for Mumbai. Rich with fishes. Has a huge dam, best to visit in the monsoon, as the surroundings are dry and brown for the rest of the year.

Tansa is one of the Dam supplying water to Mumbai. It is located at a distance of approximately 80 kms from Mumbai. The area around the dam is notified as tansa wildlife sanctuary. As the dam is protected by bmc, you will be not able to go on dam. But you can see the dam wall from a distance and backwaters of the dam touch the road. Good for a short drive. The road is full of grenary with twist and turns. Good for one day short trip.

Nice place to visit especially for Nature lovers during rainy season. The road to reach here is also super, you will enjoy it while driving. You are not allowed to enter if you are not a staff member of BMC. You have to explore the area from other open sides.

This place is birders’ paradise, but there’s no place for overnight stay. Forest Department’s guest house is extremely neglected by them. There’s only one room, more than two guests cannot stay. The staff does not provide additional mattresses. Food is not available. On the day of our visit electricity was off, it was so since last few days. We preferred to stay in a hotel on Highway, but that delayed us to reach early morning for birding. We have found a solution to this situation, a dormitory is available at Quaripada, some 15 km from Tansa. But food is not available there also.

Tansa Dam is one of the major water supply reservoirs to Mumbai. The surrounding is scenic and quiet. Due to security reasons visitors can not go right on the Dam but one can visit the backside of Dam through an unused walkway and enjoy the view of lake and an island. Worth visiting again and again

You can reach Tansa lake via Mumbai Nasik highway. Take a turn at Aatgoan. From there it is about 12 km. The road was very good, though narrow. It is passing through lush green forest. Very pleasing to eyes. At the end of the road you can see the lake. You are not allowed to enter the lake. There is dam site as well but it is restricted area. Carry your food as nothing is available. This is not commercial place, so you can enjoy pure nature.
