We had a lovely time up there, the cable car ride was enjoyable offering some great views on the way up. Unfortunately at 4100m I was feeling the altitude a bit so didn't feel hiking all the way to the peak would be a good idea. Only walked up to the first tip and back but that was enough to appreciate the beautiful nature and take in the spectacular views.

This is definitely a must see if you visit Quito. Located just above the Avenida Occidental, you should definitely come here by car as the climb is very steep. Take the cable car to reach the top; alternatively you could also climb it but likely it'll take a couple of hours. The views from the top are impressive, it's better to visit during a sunny morning as the clouds start to lower in the afternoon. Unfortunately there are still many shops and restaurants closed and abandoned, only a few businesses remain open. Up on the top there's a trail that you can follow, those who are more adventurous can easily spend several hours hiking. Bring a thick jacket, hat and sunscreen.

This was one our favorite things we did in Quito. My husband and I arrived at 11:30am on a Friday and there was no line whatsoever. Paid $8.50 / person to ride the cable car up the mountain, which took about 10 minutes. It felt very safe, as vaccination cards were required in addition to hand washing prior to entering the sanitized cable cars. At the top, there’s a cute cafe for coffee and you can walk across the edge of the mountain to find the swing (a cool photo opp), the horses, and amazing views of the volcano. Things that you may find helpful: — hold on to your ticket - they ask you to show it on the way down, and we had almost thrown ours away. — the earlier in the day you go, the more likely you are to get extensive volcano views. The clouds roll in around lunchtime. — the ride itself is worth the $8.50, making it a good option for those less physically fit. You can step off the cable car at the top and you have immediate amazing views of the city. However, if you are fit, there are some cool trails to explore. A good option for folks of all ages. - We took Ubers to and from the base, which was affordable and easy. However there were also people offering taxi rides (in case you don’t have service or an international phone plan).

What an experience. If you are afraid of heights, this will tackle that fear. You're about to ride up 12k feet in a see-through cable car. It's so amazing also it's well maintained. Don't miss this when visiting. The view is stunning. Also, once you get to the top, there is a reward. If you can hike up the additional 2000 feet, you will get to swing at 14,000 feet, highest point in South America. If you have any breathing issues or have had asthma, bring an inhaler or get one for about $3 in a drug store before this. The air is thin, and it's a hike. Also, go in the morning as the clouds and fog will not be as bad. If this helped you in any way, please mark as helpful and follow me for more reviews around the 🌎

Amazing views of the city. There is plenty of hiking once you get to the top. They offer a day pass so you can take the aerial cable car to the top and ride your bike down as many times as you want.

This was the other place we visited in Quito and was well worth our time. If you enjoy grand vistas and beautiful mountain top views, you have to check this place out. They transport you up the mountain via a gondola, and once on top, it's just one gorgeous view after another. There is room to hike around the mountain top and get multiple different perspectives on the city of Quito below, along with all the other surrounding mountains. They have a little coffee shop on the top with a great view. You can also take a guided horse back ride down the mountain if you like. This is a must do if you're in Quito.

Excellent gondola ride that takes you to 4100m altitude that opens best views of the city from top of Andes mountains. 1-4 hour trail hike is very strenuous, especially when going up. I was stopping every 50m on the way us to gasp for air!! Undoubtedly unforgettable moments!!

This is definitely a must when you visit Quito, and the view at the top is breathtaking - literally! When you get to the top, you're averaging about 13,000 ft high, or about 4,000 meters, so if you're not used to super high elevations, you may struggle to catch your breath so make sure to take it slow. The cable car ride itself was fun and lasted a couple of minutes each way. At the top, there's also a cute little chapel. We wandered and admired the area for about an hour and felt that that was acceptable, though some may want to hike around which will of course need more time. If you get hungry or thirsty there are a few concession stands.

Popular tourist attraction to get a great view of the city and the mountains with some hiking. if you can get there on a day without clouds, you'll get some good photos. $9 entrance fee for adults . Can be a little busy at some times of the day and the weather can change quickly, so your view is dependent on that. Make sure your phone is charged. There are charging ports and outlets at the cafe.

Seamless ticketing and boarding experience, the staff keep the lines moving at a good pace. The cable car was clean and felt safe. The views were awesome in all directions, looking up to the mountain and down to the city, passed lots of animals and various vegetation along the way which added to the experience. Unfortunately the time we went was a little cloudy, so we couldn't get the grand view from the last bit to the top. However it was good even passing through the clouds. Take a sweater as it gets a bit chilly.

You absolutely must do the cable cars if you stop in Quito. The views are insane. It’s got to be the best way to see all of Quito. It’s a beautiful ride up. Only 18 minutes or so. If you’re up for a hike there is a 5 mile at the top. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful gondola ride up and down. We shared the ride with another Canadian couple. Once up there is a small cafe, dog park and picnic tables outside. We were up high enough to be above the clouds. I think there were also llamas you could take a picture with for a fee. If you walk up a bit there are swings at the top. Keep your ticket for the ride down.

Worth every penny as long as it isn’t too overcast! Be sure to go on a clear or partly clear day to get the best views. Beware that it’s much cooler up top than it is at the bottom. The hike at the top is quite long but it’s easy to do a portion of the trail and turn around. It can be difficult if you’re not used to the altitude. The swings are close to the teleférico station so no need to hike too far. We also enjoyed the cafe at the top for a coffee post hike. We went in June 2022 and you did need to show your vaccine card to ascend so beware of that.

Lucky to go to this place when it was sunny and clear so had a beautiful view of the city at 14000 feet above the sea level. Entrance was $8.50 and it wasn't very crowded given the pandemic. They were strictly enforcing the mask and hand washing rules and only one person per party could get a ticket while the rest had to wait outside.

Cable car that takes you to 4000 metres high. Price was 8.5$ for foreigner. Ride takes 8 minutes to the top. On a sunny day you can see the full width of Quito as well as some volcanoes. From there you can also start your summit attempt of the Guagua Pichincha. This place was the best one to conclude my 2 month trip in Ecuador.

It's a great way to spend a morning in Quito. Try to get there early (check the operational hours) to get the best views before the clouds come in and cover the mountains. The view of the city and surrounding mountains is beautiful. The ride takes you up to an elevation of over 4000 meters so be prepared for the weather (cold) and the altitude. There is a coffee shop at the top which was nice. A great outing.

Such a great way to see Quito and the surrounding countryside. There are amazing views at incredible heights everywhere you look. There are viewpoints for those that don't want to walk too much. And trails for those that do. There is a cafe at the top and further up by the horse corral is family run snack shack with delicious empanadas and more. Don't forget to try the free swings! And if you're lucky you will have some llamas available for pictures for a small fee.

Visiting the TelefériQo Cable Car in Quito was an absolute highlight for me! The whole journey from catching a taxi or Uber to purchasing the ticket for around $8.50 per person couldn't have been smoother. It's a 20-minute ascent to the top, and luckily, it wasn't too crowded on my visits, though I imagine that varies. You're lifted from 10,266 feet to 12,943 feet, offering some of the most stunning vistas I've ever seen. Be warned, the altitude change is very apparent, so if you're coming from lower elevations, pace yourself, maybe have some altitude sickness meds ready to have a more pleasant experience. At the top, there’s a cafe where you can grab snacks and drinks while gazing over the city. Depending on when you go, you might even get to interact with the llamas. The city view swing is definitely a highlight not to be missed!

Go early for the best view before the clouds blanket the mountains and volcanos. Also better to beat the crowd. Remember to hang onto your ticket for the return trip! There's hot food, drinks and snacks at the top. The hike up to the very top of the hill is worth the effort and is rewarded with great views and local cuisine for a reasonable price. Don't forget the sunscreen!

A very pleasant walk through the high side of Quito. The long trail seems to be very pleasant too. I recommend arriving early.

It has some great views! Entrance fee is $5 for locals, $8 for foreigners. Parking $2.5 to go in, $2.5 to go out.

Great experience. I went early, no line up. The views of Quito are amazing. Loved the Santa sled cable car.

Great experience and breathtaking views! The cable car ride up the side of the mountain is quiet and peaceful. There was plenty of room to move around on top of the mountain and amazing photograph opportunities.

Very nice place for a day outing. The view up & down is beautiful & the hike is even more beautiful. It's not a very challenging hike the first 75%< after which the hike to the top suddenly turns rather dangerous, especially in wet weather, as it's necessary to climb along a nearly vertical wall. We turned around & had a great day & a nice hike.

A beautiful ride up and down, with additional view opportunities and hiking options once at the top. Highly recommend! Only negative is the heavy scratching on the windows, but it takes very little away from the experience in my opinion. Cabin felt safe and comfortable, the day I went there wasn’t any wind, might be a little more sketchy in worse conditions though. Otherwise, it’s well worth it!

If you ride the cable car up make sure and walk the rest of the way up to at least the swing over the cliff! The views are amazing all the way around, if you aren't used to the altitude it'll be a breathless hike, just take your time. The cafe at the top and bottom have common snacks, nothing fancy.

The cable car itself was in good condition and seemed very safe. The logistics of selling tickets and getting people into the car are quite poor, but who cares really? You get up there eventually. And most importantly, the views from the top are stunning. Highly recommend also hiking up at least partway towards the summit.

Come prepared for a good hike in high altitudes. The top of the cable car drops you to close to 13k feet. If you haven't acclimated to the altitude in Quito, I would say get yourself acclimated or get a guide if you wish to take the long hike up. Beautiful views of Quito below when the clouds part though.

A stunning viewpoint over Quito, its landscapes and the surrounding volcanoes. At nearly 4000 meters above sea level, this hilltop can be visited by cable car or trekking. The steep climb is demanding, but the trail its worth the effort.

Amazing to get up from 3000m to 4000m by cable car in less than 20 minutes.. the weather conditions can be different up there take an extra jacket to enjoy spectacular views over Quito and around.. in case you want to hike further up prepare even more .. good shoes and extra clothes some fluid and snacks.. Watch for sudden changes to lighting storms which can be pretty dangerous and make sure you get down safely..

super cool must view spot! it wasn't terribly cold but definitely a little windy. i was in a sweatshirt and bomber jacket. hike up made me a little winded but nothing impossible, swings are great and cool to get a shot on. we came close to 4 and it wasn't packed! in and out in an hour.

I love the views. Also we were able to take pictures with an alpaca and her baby. The ride up takes 18 minutes, in order to buy the tickets one needs the vaccine certificate and also they do offer a senior citizen discount, 65 and up for nationals or foreigners.

  • 4/5 Rachelle C. 3 years ago on Google
This was a wonderful ride to see the city and the calderas. The walk around is nice and breezy. Be warned, if you walk down a path, you will need to walk back up that path. There's a swing that is a good trek from the gondola. We did not go to the seeing because we had been hiking around before we know about it and we're tired.

  • 5/5 Marc C. 3 years ago on Google
This is one of my favorite places that we have visited in Quito. I do recommend going early. We were leaving around noon and it was packed. The ride up the mountain was fun and the views were incredible.
