This was my first visit to Chimfunshi, and wow, all I can say is I will definitely go back. We had the pleasure of meeting Sheila (founder) and our guide Dominic who were both very entertaining and super friendly. Sheila showed us through her photo album, awesome. All the chimps have names which I think is great, they are just like us, only they have a different way of talking. Alice, one of the chimps would clap with her hands in the air and almost point to the lemon tree, she wanted lemons!!! Too cute. Two sheep, hahaha who think they are dogs and want to be fussed..awesome. Peacock's strutting around, African Grey Parrots in the cage...really great and a super little gift shop. There are super lodges there too, had we known beforehand we probably would have stayed overnight...it is wonderful what Chimfunshi Wildlife Trust is doing.

You learn so much about social behaviour through the lense of the chimpanzees. There are approximately 130 free chimps in this sanctuary. The road to Chingola is perfect. However, off road from Chingola to the sanctuary is 15km of untarred road.

Very nice place to visit and get to see and feed the chimps, clean and green environment!! Very friendly tour guides and seeing the chimpanzees just bring so much joy! The road to the place is a little bumpy but even a small car can drive on it, don’t forget to take some fruits and vegetables to donate for the amazing chimps! Very educative place to visit!

Better to go at feeding time. You can see the Chimpanzees and enjoy the moment. Need minimum 3 hours to spent..

This review is only regarding camping. This place definitely isn’t set up for campers, which is not their focus anyways. The campsite is not a campsite, just a grassy patch behind the buildings. There is an annoying rooster that roosts in the tree next to the campsite and loves to call at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 in the morning. The cell tower has a generator that runs all day and night, which provides a loud hum during your entire stay. The dogs also bark a lot and at random times. Slept here the worst my whole trip. Water was luke warm at best and inconsistent at that. BUT, it is a nice place and seeing the chimps is fun! Many of the staff are fantastic and make up for any shortcomings as well. The road to the property is also in good condition so getting there was no problem at all. For campers, it is an OK place to stay if in a pinch, otherwise I recommend continuing on to other accommodations if possible.

One of the best places in Zambia. Fair price, there is no difference in price for locals and foreigners that is an advantage. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Thanks for people who managing this place, you are doing a good job. Highly recommended to visit.

This is a working Chimpanzee refuge and offers a chance to observe Chimps in a very natural environment plus enjoy an opportunity to meet Sheila who started the sanctuary nearly 40 years ago. It's not a resort but a working research station so if you want an experience that's very different from a normal tourist drive this is it.

Had an amazing experience. Went visiting Chimpanzees and boy ain't they dramatic. Met Brian the Chimp who was trying to show off by putting up a stone throwing show. Highly recommend. Whenever you visit Zambia, stop by Chimfushi natural reserves and visit the Chimps.
