The place was not something amazing except it had shops and was pretty crowded however the jeep safari to it was simply amazing and something you have to try. The driver was very kind and crazy and on the way you can see mirage. The local people try to push you to buy all kinds of stuff but negotiate the price cuz they start high but end up selling really low. You can take a picture in camel there. Bring a lot of water since water is expensive in the desert.

The guys with camels were SO AGRESSIVE. I was pulling up & had 6 guys with camels running at me. They followed no matter where I turned & surrounded my car, I felt unsafe getting out. I drove right into the set area to get away. Took a few photos and drove out of there, 3 min max. They ruined the experience. I was the only tourist at the time. As I was driving away, 3 cars were going in. I hope they survived. There are so many tables selling souvenirs that are in every photo. 16Apr2023

Very good place but the only problem is people hassle you for money. To go on the camels and take pictures of the other animals they say for free. After you have taken your pictures they get very intimidating for money. So just ignore them as if they are not there!

Very nice place. No need to buy any tickets. No need to buy safari tours to arrive here. The route google maps suggested can be used by anycar like volkswagen polo or something, the road is in asphalt. However I would suggest full day safari tour to see the desert rally. Very photogenic. And other worldly. Some describe this as run down/needing maintenance. Either the Tunisians have done that or more likely, this is the set of a town at the outer rim of the galaxy and should not be pristine? This is not a place to come to for peace and quiet. The locals offering camel rides, quads, etc make sure of that. Do seek out one of the guys making sand bread. It's an authentic-ish experience, and you get tasty hot bread for 1 or 2 dinar (tea also 1 dinar). One tip - If you do decide to go for any of these rides, do not pay before you start, unless you are happy for them to cut your trip short! We weren't there for that, so tried to ignore them. But the price kept going down to stoke our interest, until 20 Dinar (£5) for two quads for the four of us for 15 minutes was agreed. After 6 minutes, that was it. Finished. Our protests got us a grudging quick second circuit of the dunes, but not the town. That was still well short of the agreed time, and as we were about the last to arrive that day, it wasn't as if there was a queue waiting for it. Had I not paid already, I'd have been in a stronger position! Also they sit on the edge of the quad and drive, so it's not a driving sensation. P.s. Health and safety LOL. Equally, we had no great interest in the camel rides, having done that in Merzouga but again the price plummeted to 5 Dinar (we weren't negotiating, we just weren't interested!) for a quick ride and photos was acceptable. We weren't looking for a Lawrence of Arabia trip into the dunes, but they tried to make that an 'extra' whilst we were in the camel - and I mean they were heading to the desert and saying in their broken English that this would be extra! Well we hadn't defined exactly what we were going to get for 5 dinar, so it was a walk around the edge of the town for a couple of minutes!

Surreal surroundings close to the slat lake,no wonder Star Wars was filmed here. Just simply ignore all the vendors hassling you to buy cheap stuff.

This set was built for filming all the major street scenes that take place in the spaceport town of Mos Espa in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. The set is now maintained by the Tunisian government in order to attract more tourists.

Well if you saw StarWars it is nice to visit, it is an iconic place, there is not much to see but there are shops there and you can actually pet a real life scorpion which is crazy i would say, we went there with offroad cars and we had a blast in the sands

A piece of Star Wars film in the Sahara Desert. Couple of beduins houses and a lot of souvenirs to buy. The sand is amazing ❤

Must have to be here for every Star Wars fan! This place is still exist but due to years and lack of care/ maintenance by local authority it can be destroyed completely. I really recommend to visit this place by „jeeps”.

A piece of star wars history mos espa phantom menace space port or where darth vadar was born. If you are a fan it's worth visiting if not the dunes are more interesting. The set if falling apart in the desert winds the ply used is rotting away. Interesting to see how it was made but should be preserved as a modern museum piece its a historic part of motion picture history left to ruin.

We got a 4x4 to here along the sand dunes which was fun. We got here and theres a lot of people trying to sell things. Bit sad that looking in one "house" people had thrown rubbish in there kind of ruined the vibe. Overall a nice place to see where the film was made. Literally in the middle of the sahara.

Such a cool place to see all the star wars stuff. Would recommend going for sunset and walking up the sand dunes next to it for a good view.

Awfull looks like à gipsy camp. Of course surounded of locals when you arrive, that place is full of chamel sh... and small homes are full of sand. People here are just lazy thinking how to pick you up money like every where else in this unsafe area. Localized at the end of the road, better with a good car or 4x4.

Amazing place to visit while traveling through the Tunisia, especially for the Star Wars fans ;) Entry is free of charge, and you can reverse the time and get a glimpse of Star Wars sets :)

Came on a weekday in June 2022. Practically no one around other than the people trying to sell us stuff. Its a nice place other than the fact that some of the shop keepers are annoying, trying very hard to get you to buy things. One guy even set up shop in the middle of the whole place and left his table there so I couldn’t get a full shot of everything. Nonetheless, historical place. Don’t expect anything spectacular other than crumbling prop sets.
