An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Mallikarjunaswamy and Goddess Kamakshi thayar. It’s on the banks of Pennar river . It’s a Sakthi Peedam , graced by Adhi Shankaracharya. There are different sannadhis for Annapoorani, Navagraham and so on . In the main temple , Lakshmi Ganapathi and Adhi shankara vigrahams are present . This shrine is brimmed with Divinity and peacefulness Temple rituals are in full swing with Kalyanotsvam. Approach to the temple entrance from main road has to be nearly maintained by the local authorities along with the bathing areas of the river banks . They are quite unhygienic, chaotic and with encroachments.

Jonnawada Kamakshi is a famous temple and is dedicated to goddess Kamaksh and Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy, one of the variations of Shakti, is situated on the banks of Penna River, 12 km from the heart of Nellore city. This is 8th century Kamakshi Amma temple and visited by Adi shankaracharya situated on the banks of River Penna. Have been visiting this serene temple since childhood and one of my favorite places to visit after beaches around nellore. Used to do bath in Penna river but offlate serenity and cleanliness gone for a toss. However there's renovation going on now. Positive hope that things will improve. People believe and visit for getting rid of evil sprits influenced them. Also devotees visit for getting their marriage wish fulfilled. Accomodation in budget level for over night stay is available, food is is an issue. For lunch you can have free at temple Anna prasada kendra near temple. Connectivity by local autos and taxi is good.But city bus service will go a long way in improving connectivity. Auspicious to witness. Goddess shrine also very good.

This is very Good temple and Maa Kaamaakshi bless all the devoties but still the maintenance is very poor and can do far better... Particularly the wash rooms for both Genders should be re construct and maintain sanitation properly... And the rooms offered by temple management is not at all good they have to do lot of work for improvement of this rooms
