We were in Nelson during our anniversary, and given the good reviews, decided to try Sage for a celebratory dinner. It proved to be a bad decision. There were 10 to 12 patrons in the small dining room with one server. The menu offerings were limited and seemed all over the place. We chose the Grilled Caesar Salad, an app of Spicy Tuna Tartare and the Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb. We ordered glasses of wine and waited, and waited. The salad arrived about 25 minutes later. Some interesting flavors at the outset, but you were left with plain Romaine half way through. After another 45 minutes we received our tuna appetizer. The four small wontons were light, but all the other ingredients including more avocado then tuna were so drowned in sesame oil and soy sauce you could discern no other flavors. Finally, almost an hour and half after ordering, the rack of lamb arrived. There were four pieces of lamb, each heavily breaded, apparently pan fried and grossly over cooked. We had requested medium rare and cut into one to find a dull grey. We didn't even try it. We were told that they would remake it for us, but it would take another 45 minutes. We declined. We weren't the only table that evening that sent a main course back to the kitchen. So our anniversary dinner costing over $90 consisted of a salad, four indistinguishable bites of an appetizer, and three glasses of wine - the most disastrous dining experience we've ever had. Our waitress, the only server on the floor, deserves the star, probably more then one. The kitchen earned a big naught. Sadly, it's our opinion you should avoid Sage.

Wow what a sweet little place! The muscles and calamari were so delicious! And the chef came out to double check about our food restrictions! We'll be back to try the new menu!

The service was good, the atmosphere was nice, we sat on the patio. I was not happy with the seafood risotto - the rice didn't have that creaminess that makes a risotto, the pieces of fish were too small to distinguish and there were only three mussels in the bowl. I actually asked about the rice and the chef assured us it was a high quality arborio rice. Honestly I don't think the rice we were served was meant for risotto- it looked and tasted more like brown rice. I just think for a $30 dish it was really underwhelming and disappointing.

Lovely gem. My spouse and I first visited Sage on our honeymoon. Now every time we are through Nelson, we are sure to stop at Sage for a romantic dinner. Best if you have time for a leisurely dinner with time to order share plates every so often while enjoying beverages and great company. If you aren't a wine drinker, you might be interested in their house made sodas. The patio has lovely views.

Nice Terrasse with a view. Small menu with very tasty dishes; I had the filet mug in which was delicious. I missed a bit better service (I got told that my chosen main course wasn’t available any more, no suggestion offered though instead). Also, wondering whether the menu is too short for regular visits… but overall a good experience.

We were really excited to treat ourselves to a nice night out but were disappointed. We splurged on a nice bottle of white wine and the waitress told us before serving that it was cold but she just wanted to chill it a little more but it’s was clearly room temperature which really impacts the taste. I wish the waitress hadn’t lied to us because we would have ordered a different bottle had we known. We made a big deal of wanting to follow the recommended wine pairings to the staff but were disappointed to find they were sold out of the only dish that paired with the wine we ordered, I wish we had been told before we ordered the wine what items they were out of. We ended up ordering the charcuterie and were quite disappointed to find it was filled with cheap Grocery store crackers and other grocery store items (eg way too many craisins) and only one kind of cheese. The dessert was nice. The service was also quite slow. If only one or two of these things happened I would never leave a bad review but I felt like we spent a lot of money splurging on a nice night out but we’re met with a series of disappointments that left us feeling like we wasted our money.

$ 24 for 2 tiny (5 tiny squares of tuna each) no-flavor tuna-tartar crisps that would be $12 anywhere else. Breton crackers (instead of their ‘home made focaccia’) with a brie & fig jam plate that came with no fig jam. Piles of cranberries but the smallest baked garlic ever. VERY overpriced . Had it been really good - I have no problem paying $25-$30 for appetizers.

Went for the valentines dinner. Found many dishes disappointing. Risotto appetizer was more like a main, way too salty with very little else in it besides risotto. Short rib sandwich was strange with shrimp added and soggy. Tiramisu was soggy bread with soupy creme. Curry was good. The service was incredibly slow.

Beautiful, cosy, friendly service. Delicious raviolli on the covered, heated patio. Blissful ✨️🧡

Really enjoyed my first visit to Sage last night with my partner. The Burger Month Moroccan Lamb Burger was amazingly delicious! So was the lentil donuts and the chocolate torte cake. The service was lovely. The selection of BC wines by the glass and bottle are amazing! Makes me feel at home having moved here from the Okanagan. Great place for a romantic date night. Will certainly return

Good food great service. Salmon is a regular on the menu and was really good. Halibut was a special and was great as well. Recommend finding this quaint place.

One of my favourite places to eat in Nelson! Tapas are fantastic and the VIEW over the lake is devine!

🫤 I gave this a 2 instead of 5 for dinner only because we were told that we had to vacate our table after having dinner and drinks as the table was reserved for another group. This was only after being seated for 90 minutes. A 90 minute turnover is unreasonable...if the table had a limited sitting t...

😐 A unique shopping experience with a good selection of goods. But bring lots of $$$ as it's easily the most expensive grocery store in the area. Lots of overpriced merchandise for those with piles of disposable income.
