The front staff was friendly. Anyhow, the food was a let down for my personal experience though I had initial high hopes. Masala dosa, condiments and saambar : flavors weren't pronounced. Idly and Vadey: under-cooked and did not have those dishes' typical soft & fluffy texture but were dense and doughy. Hope the restaurant would improve the food. The sweet lassi was delicious.

ordered the lamb curry and rice with the chicken samosas and it was absolutely delicious - no delivery fee and i was able to order completely online! the portions are pretty good for the price and the food is amazing - one of the only places in town as far as i know that delivers indian takeout, its a bit of a wait but it tells you that upfront and they were right on time, plus the food was still warm so no complaints there! definitely planning on ordering again soon. edit: they gave me enough food for a whole second meal so the portions are very good for their prices! super happy with my order :)

All I can say is that this is a fantastic restaurant! The owner is post modern in his cooking approach to cooking authentic southern Indian food. You will be charmed, full of good food and ready to hit the slopes after eating breakfast, lunch or dinner. Don’t leave Nelson, BC without eating at Katooney South India Kitchen. Next time we are in Nelson, BC we will stop in again.

South Indian Cuisine done right! Tastes like running next door to grandma's house to see what she was making. I always order weird stuff and they accommodate without judgement. Great if you're a vegetarian! Has become our Christmas tradition; Ski at whitewater and Supper with Tamil. 💚

Great food, great service. Definitely best option for Indian food we found in Nelson. We ordered something with a number of different curries and they were all good and a dosa and it was too. Definitely worth checking out.

We ate here for the first time and we found the food delicious. We had the Eggplant, butter chicken, lamb & kozhi kulambu served with rice and we ordered the parotta bread which was flaky and hot. It was all very good. The staff were good but it took the food awhile to get to us but I think it cause everyone came in about the same time. We were seated right away. Prices were reasonable for a dinner menu. Street parking available. Free after 5 pm.

Freshly made southern Indian dishes. The flavors just different enough from the expected to tantalize & surprise. Would love to have these dishes back home. Also, a surprisingly broad array of specialty drinks. Coffee, milks & cocktails.

The food was delicious. We got marinated cauliflower, lamb and chicken Dosai and mango lassi. All yummy and tasty. The only thing that I think would be great to work on it, it’s the decoration and ambient which can add more pleasant to your experience. 🤩

The experience was excellent from the time we walked in until the time we burped out. Upon entering, I asked the waiter what time it was. He immediately replied, "It's time for lunch!" And he was right! The decor was very nice and it was obvious a lot of thought went into it. All our questions were answered in a way so that we chose the exact entree that we wanted. I had the Chicken Saanal. OMFG. It was so good. We were given more than enough time to savor the food. And I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the waiter in giving us another bottle of chilled water. Excellent waiter, food, and atmosphere. Burp!

I didn’t have high expectations for this place due to the simple atmosphere, but our takeout was actually very very tasty. I’d definitely eat here again :)

Went in and figured we would try something other than the usual. Gave him free reign. He brought two appetizers I had never heard of. Both were amazing. One was spicy cauliflower but not too spicy. Super delicious. The other were these balls filled with goodness you put more goodness into. Then the final plate. I had some chicken curry mix and the wife had eggplant mix. We were blown away. Explained all about the food and one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at any restaurant ever.

Wonderful food! A bit different from the usual Indian fare. They have a wide selection of dosai, and the curries have a uniquely Tamil flavour. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are helpful. They were able to accommodate my allergy to dairy easily, and knew exactly which dishes needed to be modified slightly.

The Parotta was some of the best I’ve ever had before! I got an Indian take out staple just to base review on with Butter Chicken and also some Channa Masala, one of my favorite vegetarian curries. Both were excellent. The butter chicken was super soft and all flavors were perfect. The samosa was almost in an egg roll wrapper. It was still delicious, don’t get me wrong, but I wasn’t expecting that type of shell I guess? I would order here again!

Best Indian food in town, by a long shot. An really cozy, beautiful patio in the summer. I always get chappathi and Paneer Butter Masala. SO. GOOD. If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend getting the gulab jamun sundae, or a mango lassi.

Very very bad experience with KTK restaurant. We had to wait for almost 40 mins for three dosas and teas. We were seated for very long time. The food was realy bad. No flavors at all and expensive too. However the front staff was very nice.Will not suggest here for indian food.

Wow! Amazing food, excellent service. We ordered several dishes and each one was more delicious than the last, and all for $60. The patio at night had a great atmosphere and made for an enjoyable date night. We’ll be back anytime we’re in Nelson, for sure.

Good food - liked the authentic menu. Had the lamb curry which was on par with other south Indian restaurants in the States...little light on the rice amount...ordered a extra side of it to match the amount of curry.

The best butter chicken I've ever had. As a brown woman, this is probably up there with one of my favorite indian restaurants I've been to (and I can't believe its in Nelson). If youre looking for flavorful, authentic, and decilious desi food - come here.

Always very delicious. They are very willing to accommodate my need for less hot spice. It is my boyfriends favourite restaurant in Nelson.

This is one of my favourite places to eat. I give it 4 stars as the food is very inconsistent. If you get one chef, you get a completely different size dosa, that tastes completely different. It's always inconsistent, I wish they just trained their chefs to produce the same taste. The dosas are also much smaller than most places, bigger dosas would be nice.

One of the best dosas I have ever had for sure! And really excellent service from Ash (I think) who made sure my water was always full and was very friendly. Will be coming back and recommending to friends ☺️

Please correct me if I am wrong, but people go to restaurent for enjoying fresh cooked food, there is no mean to eat in restaurent if the food we are getting is from walmart. Please have a look at the picture and tell me that those chapati are not from walmart. Really disappointing.

Love, love, love. I came for a cozy lunch on a rainy afternoon. First time here so I ordered the veg thali- loved it. A very flavourful and inviting plate of food to dig into. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was great. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back to try more items off the menu.

Such a great experience!! The food was incredible! We thought we had ordered too much when it arrived on the table but we made quick work of it. My parents were raving about it for the rest of their weekend visit. Excellent service, as well. Lovely waiter who was very attentive and shared background and history around some dishes. We will definitely be back soon!

Came for the burger special and it was delicious. Service was great. It was busy and so a bit noisy but we could talk and hear each other with no problem.

We stopped in pretty early for dinner and got a fantastic reception with stories and education on South Indian cuisine. It's obvious that the folks who work here, from the waiter to the chef, love what they do and delight in sharing their knowledge and skills.

The smoke was pouring out of the kitchen into the seating area of the restaurant, our eyes were stinging, we had to wash all our clothes when we arrived home; this is unacceptable and they should be shut down until they fix their ventilation. Our server was friendly but not good, the food was satisfactory but wait times were too long. A little pricey. Won’t be back.

Today was my first time eating here, absolutely amazing and authentic Indian food. There are dishes I had never heard of and I plan to go back to try more! They also carry loads of authentic ingredients, snacks, and spice mixes you can't find anywhere else in town. The staff were friendly and answered my endless questions about the displays as well as the foods being served. After my meal I ended up leaving with a large bag of assorted cooking ingredients and snacks, as well as a Dosa to eat later for dinner (recommended to me by another customer)(It's like a giant savory crepe filled with spicy meat and veggies, I love it!)

Great to share dishes or order the tasting dinners for 1 to try a sampling of things. Not North American serving sizes for those with bulk eating styles. Server was great at suggesting how much to order. Will definitely come in again! Great outdoor patio too.

Soooo good! We were not expecting authentic south indian food and each dish was interesting and tasty. Which is better, the beef curry or the lamb curry? Both were great. The chickpea salad was yummy. We had 5 things from the menu and there were many more that looked interesting especially given that we were 5 for 5 on tasty dishes.

One of the loveliest culinary experiences I’ve ever had!

The kitchen service was pretty slow (which I was warned of by the waiter), but the vegetarian thali I ordered was terrific. It had a nice sugary coconut dessert that I hadn't tried before, and now that's in my dreams. I think it's great to see South Indian food in a smaller town. I will return someday to try the buffet!

Such a delightful person Siraaj is. Me and my friend went to have food there, but my friend fall sick before that. Siraaj gave us ride to the hospital despite of store being so busy. He is such a kind and generous person. Thank you Siraaj.

Came here a couple days ago, the food (chicken kothu paratha and a mutton kothu paratha) tasted really good and authentic. It was better than other tamil restuarants i have tried in Victoria and Calgary. I liked the decor and style of the place. The owner was really friendly and nice. The serving size could definitely use improvement hence the four stars . The portion me and my gf got was far too small as neither of us were close to full with our dishes which were served in little pots like they do in some places, but the pots were smaller and shallower
