Nice space with friendly staff but food was not impressive. If you are familiar with Vietnamese cuisine and been to many Vietnamese restaurants, you will be disappointed. Foods are presented in similar way but flavour is not there. Curry was not too bad but peaceful noodle bowl was awful. Also everything seems over priced in my opinion especially spring roll and the salad roll. They were $14 and $15 for 2 rolls each.

I love the regular menu but tonight's feature completely blew me away. The roasted chicken with noodle & vegetable stir fry might be the best thing I’ve eaten here to date. It was incredible! Please consider adding this to the menu! 👌🏼👌🏼

This review is purely regarding the food as the restaurant itself is nice and the service was good. The dishes are so expensive , based on the price you would think it would be good or half decent at least. The food was awful , the worst pho I've ever had. It tasted so bland - just like boiling water and starch from the noodle. I put so much Sriracha and hoisin sauce to make it better but that didn't help. The yum son bowl was no better, it didn't taste good at all , was hard to eat. I usually don't leave negative reviews of restaurants, but I feel the need to warn others so they save their money.

Pretty decent but don't expect much flavour. We showed up and were sat at the bar to have drinks while we waited for a table. We kind of ended up being "forgotten about" but the bar staff was kind to remind one of the wait staff that we needed a table and were promptly seated. Understandable with the current industry wide short staffing issues. I had the Chicken Pho and wasn't too impressed as it basically just tasted like beef broth with noodles. From my understanding the owners are going for "viet-modern" but it does feel like a bit of a slap in the face to pay so much for basically just beef broth. I would like to return again but generally you are gonna get much better value at one of the Indian restaurants in terms of flavour for cost. Overall, good staff, good atmosphere, good beers but I wish there was at least one option of pho for people who want genuine pho flavour.

Super chill spot with a creative and delicious cocktail menu. Pork belly bao buns and chicken wings were standouts. Fantastic service and well-executed dishes.

We were recommended this restaurant, and so happy we came here. The Pho broth was some of the best I’ve ever had. Both appys we had were very flavourful, and the cocktails were perfect! We would highly recommend this place!

Walking in, you're immediately greeted by a great atmosphere and friendly servers. They have a fantastic cocktail and drink selection, which matches the amazing, fresh food they carefully prepare. Every dish is a delight, Yum Sun will for sure be my go-to for nights out.

Based on the reviews, I was really looking forward to this place. Some aspects of my visit were good while others, not so much. Was greeted at the door and asked if I had a "rezo". What? Nothing on their site mentions reservations, so wasn't thrilled about the reception. Was told they were mostly booked for the evening but I could either squeeze in to a table that was backed up to another party or else sit at the bar. Opted for the bar. Bar seating has no knee room, so I was at a weird, uncomfortable angle the whole time. Interestingly, for claiming to be booked up, I never saw anyone who arrived after me get seated indoors during my entire visit. Drinks were great but the food was a bit bland and some of the rice that came with my curry was dried-out hard. Staff were polite, but seemed far more interested in chatting with each other and what I suppose are other locals (read: not very friendly to visitors). Overall, not a great experience.

Great staff, food and service. Nice healthy food options. Definitely recommend. Loved the Shrimp Salad Rolls, and the Chicken Salad. Very busy, suggest a Reservation!

After receiving a email from the restaurant, I've updated my review to 4 stars. I wish I didn't have to post a negative review to get a response but I appreciate there are challenges running a restaurant. Tip is to order spring rolls as a side vs appetizer? $16.50 for 2 small spring rolls. No response from questions regarding order mistake.

We tried so many amazing dishes! The bao buns were delicious. We had a half order of the cashew chicken cole slaw and that was great too! I loved the sweet cauliflower wings. I could eat only those for eternity! The drinks and desserts were great as well.

Had a great dinner. I got the pork steamed buns (but with lettuce) for my appetizer and it had a lot of flavour. The yum son noodle bowl for main, which was pretty good. The carolina dessert. Mocha for a drink which was great. Overall everything was really good and the server was switched on and friendly.

Really great service and cocktails are perfectly balanced. I had the Lemongrass Tofu Bahn Mi and it was very dry and bland. However my friend had the burger special and she said it was full of flavour and delicious!

Quite overpriced for what you get. Appetizers, service and atmosphere were good. Beef noodle soup broth had zero flavour. Pho is a staple in Vietnamese cuisine - get the broth right.

Cocktails were super delicious, have as many as you can handle (the mai tai was fantastic). Appy selection is huge and my favorite one was the duck pate with homemade pickled pickles. The bao buns (pork belly) were unreal and we also tried the imperial spring rolls. The viet yellow curry bowl was interesting and super yummy. Jani our server was super personable and extremely friendly! She made our night unforgettable. Thanks for a great night out!

Amazing food everytime I'm in nelson yum son is at the top of my list. The best food in nelson if I could only eat here forever I'd be totally ok with that. I highly recommend the yim son bowl and the salad wraps 😋 best combo.

Went for dinner last week. The patio was busy and we waited a while before we waved down the server to which she said we weren't in her section. There were parties who arrived after us and were getting their appies before we were even given water. So anyway our server finally showed up to which we said we were being helped and she got visibly upset and walked away. When our order of bao buns arrived, to our surprise there was 2 buns per order which was ok cause they were delicious and we ended up with leftovers but the server didn't even bother telling us when we were ordering so many of them. That's not the worst part, our yellow curry order got missed and when we asked about it server said we didn't order it. At this point I was so upset that I asked for the bill and when she brought the bill we were charged for the curry. Then I go so it was ordered you just forgot to ring it in or bring it. Then she ended up giving us a small discount for the awful service but who cares about $10 off when you're dinner experience is already ruined. My wife said to not tip but I know many places tip out so I still tipped 10%. Just absolutely atrocious service but the food and drinks were good.

I had such a fabulous afternoon here with amazing drinks, food, and people! The bartender Pauly was incredible, I had the pleasure of trying a drink he created that was perfection, and enjoying his company! Excellent staff and atmosphere, highly recommend!

The Pho was delicious, probably the best broth I’ve had! The outdoor seating was cozy and our server was timely and very pleasant. The food came up quickly and the portions were generous. The meatballs in the Pho Shizzle are homemade and they are huge! Highly recommend! Will definitely come back next time I’m in Nelson!

Our first time in Nelson BC and we felt like some Pho. It was my fault not to order soup noodle specifically and they made a different dish. The staff was very polite and apologized. He did not even charge it to our bill! Excellent customer service!

I am lactose and gluten intolerant, Yum Son is the only menu I have seen that I am able to eat most of the menu! Only 4 items is what I couldn't eat from the entire menu. Normally it's the other way around. I highly recommend coming here! Great food and great people!!!

Never had 2 spring rolls at 13 dollars Usually it serves 4-5 rolls between 9-14 dollars. And we only got 2 spring roll. The curry tofu was not fried it was just a tofu inside. Never experienced The mushroom bun 5/5 super tasty Pho was okay.
