An especially interesting place for kids, I thought...with Castlegar's 1st jail, a train car to explore, & artifacts that were used in those days to keep things 'ship shape & in order', & with old time upstairs staff living quarters to check out. The Museum lady was very nice & friendly, esp to my Grandson's.....& strawberries growing in the garden!!

Thought this museum might be a bit more railroad oriented (upstairs is station agent's old residence). Displays are of artifacts of the time, not necessarily railroad stuff. CP caboose out back and old jail next door. Interesting to visit for an hour or so.

Pleasant friendly staff. Cool setup to walk through. Only takes 10 min to tour through or as long as you want. Lots to see and read.

I've known about Castlegar my entire adult life but always passed through. However this time since I have a school aged child, decided to drive into town and take a look around. We came upon this museum and at first stopped to look at the railway, caboose and original jailhouse before committing to going inside. Wow! What a collection of historical artifacts and Livia, the museum guide, provided me a great overview of the local history. I left with more questions than answers and more wonderment than I started with. A great appreciation for history and how far we have come and anticipation for more road to journey. Thank you ever so much!

I actually went here becuz it is where the Farmer's Market is at. I hadn't been for about 2 years and was impressed by the upgrades. The actual train "station" is quite nice. Lots of interesting "old" photos and actually a few authentic things. One of our local artists did the excellent wood carving. There are a lot of skilled and talented people here!!
