Cold water lake in the interior of BC, less visited. Better for fishing, cold for swimming. Little villages are charming. Good for being less crowded, but still very scenic.

A beautiful lake with many small beaches where you can relax during summer. The lake is pretty cold but at a hot summer day swimming in there is the best thing you can do in Nelson

Fantastic lake, clean, great beaches and fabulous bays. It would benefit from at least two additional on-lake fueling stations for power craft. Lots of history dots the shorelines from closed mining and timber operations.

I love everything about this place. The people, the water, the surroundings. If you've just come from Chistina lake you're going to find this one quite a bit cooler, but don't let that scare you. On a hot day, it's the place to be. Many hidden beaches along the banks. Just be careful at 6 mile Beach, there is a heavy undertow current at the end of the sand peak that has been the demise of more than one child or pet. Great early morning fishing. Be safe, have fun. Love the area and please pack out what you pack in.

AMAZING! This lake is HUGE and provides great fishing (if you are lucky) great water sports and often calm waters. Great place to leave your worries behind for a week or two. Clean great water, surrounded by mountains, great private camping spots if you hike in or have a boat. Stop at Creston for fresh fruit in the summer.

Absolutely the best place for rustic nostalgia, delicious ice cream, friendly faces and crystal clear water to swim in. I’m in love with this area and most definitely plan to return.

I stayed at Nelson. That part of the lake was beautiful, so clean that you can even drink from it. I went there in August, so it was very hot, too.

Born and raised south of this lake. Activity's go from mountain biking, motorcycle hotspot, camping, hiking, Cliff Diving, Swimming, Wakeboard and Water skiing, fishing. Also a place for historical sites, beautiful parks like the glacial park in the north. This place will allow you to find yourself or release your self.

An iconic lake in my life with so many great beaches (Taghum, Lakeside, Troop, 5 Mile, 6 Mile) and that's only what you can hit without a boat. If you're not familiar, the Lake you see in Nelson is actually a relatively small branch of the main lake. It is quite a bit different than the main body in terms of temperature, fishing, access, etc. More like a big, slow moving river. Hit Balfour or Kaslo for good access to the main lake. Waves get big without warning so be careful

Kootenay lake is the heart of Kootenay Culture. Plenty of beaches, mostly pebbles, but a few are sandy. Great fishing and water sport opportunities, surrounded by friendly communities and world class adventures.

My daughter and I recently visited kootenay Lake because she got married there 10 years ago and I love the improvements at the age of done to the park this is a wonderful place if you wanna go for a beautiful walk or have a nice picnic or go camping

  • 5/5 Zach B. 4 years ago on Google
Pristine. If you can stand the alpine freshness, the steep dropoff of the Kootenay lake makes for exceptional swimming. Many open rock beaches, a mysterious yoga studio and a relaxing ferry ride make any stop along the Kootenay invite relaxation and slowing down.
