Must visit place especially during post monsoon and winter. This is very soothing place with melodious chirping sound of birds all around. The forest here is dense which will make your trip adventurous. You can also feel relaxed in this place since there is very little chance of network in your mobile, so no disturbance at all. Visit this place in group to have more fun.

Place is lovely and so is the view. After reaching point the only means to reach above is by walk, train, horseback or by rickshaw. Horseback may come around 300 and rickshaw around 500. However if you prefer to walk, do wear something comfortable and definitely not white because it's going to get muddy on the way. Shoppers will love it, nature lovers will cherish it 😇

Wonderful, serene place with Beauty of Nature. Weekends mostly crowded. But in weekdays it feels deserted. Sometimes its good to have a bit of crowd. Toy train now running from Aman Lodge to Matheran and for normal class tickets you need to be quick in queue as it gets filled fast. It is First come first serve, reservation start 45 min before train departure. You may also take horse riding, as its the earning source for lot of local people. So in a way they get help to earn, survive and maintain horses as well. There are local coolies as well who can take your luggage till hotel. May take them and help them as they have less sources of earnings up there. Take horse ride if you want to visit more points, as they are far away by walk. By walk also you can visit its fun mountain trailing, but will cover less points

Cute and nice hill station just three hrs from Mumbai. No vehicles are allowed. Either walk from the car parking lot or take a 10 minutes hop on a toy train. Horses and hand drawn carts also available. Nice place to visit over a long weekend

Beautiful place with an awesome view and climate. It's a hill station where no vehicle is allowed, hence there is no pollution. Overall you can enjoy treking, beautiful points, toy train, food, garden, games and horse ride etc. It always feels refreshing after you visit Matheran.

Good place to visit on a short 2 days trip from Mumbai. The place is filled with horses however it might get very expensive. This place is clean and the temperature will definitely be better than Mumbai. Travelling within Matheran to see different points will need a lot of walking or be ready to spend for the horse ride.

Great hill station away from city's hustle bustle. Relaxing. Clean atmosphere. Cars are not allowed, so the air is fresh. You can only reach the town via toy train or horse or e-rickshaw or cart. The shops have many locally made goods. Lots of variety of food. Quite lively and safe in the evening.

MATHERAN THE Great place to hang out with family or friends! At the top of the hill ⛰️, the breathtaking views mesmerized us, and the invigorating fresh air provided a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of the city🏙, Trains are available every 2 hours.

Serene!!! This place is timeless and precious. It has not changed a bit since my childhood. Perfect weather, good food, and always a good soothing experience. Endless, beautiful roads, always a good idea to go in the rains and winter season. Small ride to trains to reach the main market and then the food is so delicious. Must visit if you haven't yet it.

Excellent place to spend a good quiet holiday. Only thing is you should be prepared to walk or travel on horseback. The place is very nice and peaceful where you can relax since there are no vehicles allowed therefore pollution is also less. It's a must go place if you wanna go for a vacation

Best place to spend quality time with your family. Peaceful, beautiful and heaven on earth. The melodious voice of the birds on the way to different points and all the way completely different experience with the horse riding to spots and traveling entirely with the raincoat and hat is amazing. This place is worth visiting. Best season is june and july.❤️🥺🔝

Magnificent view Stress booster it’s one of the best hill station. Only thing concern here is for children and old age persons at this hill site seeing location are extreme cases like you don’t have any vehicle to reach there….it’s only you need to walk or take horse and option available hand pull rickshaw too but at certain point you need to walk…for youngster and people who are found of trekking it’s adventure and people who have health issue best to go with horse….price depends upon site seeing…5 site seeing with horse will cost 1100rs and it’s till market area from market area if you need to come back to parking… it’s ~4 km you can take narrow gauge toy train over weekend you need wait ~1 to 2hrs…walk or horse and hand pull option…you can book horse for complete package site seeing and back to parking will cost you ~1500rs….most important have a raincoat always handy…umbrella will not great help…

Matheran is a nice hill station in Maharashtra, and a good place to spend your weekend. Better if you stay there at their hill property. You can enjoy early morning weather and nature there. The forest here is dense which will make your trip adventurous. You can also feel relaxed in this place since there is very little chance of network in your mobile, so no disturbance at all. Visit this place in group to have more fun. You can enjoy horse rides and toy train too.

It's a amazing place for one weekend plan to visit with friends n family. Try to avoid taking small children though. Good for couples n friends to chill out and spend some peaceful n quality time there. Marketing, traveling in small gauge track train n eating some amazing fruits like mango, guava, starfruit etc. works as cherry on the top of a cake.

Super location must visit good time in monsoon and winter. Can’t drive vehicles to this point so pollution free. You have to park vehicles at Dasturi point and come here by walk, by train or on horse. Some good points are there to visit those who can walk for longer duration visit these places by walk only to enjoy the natural environment and beauty. Small garden is also there for kids to enjoy.

This place is so peaceful for couples and families as well. Out of city… no chaos no pollution and no network either. one can spend weekend here trekking … sight seeing… The only problem is transporting… Here are some points one should keep in mind befor entering matheran:- 1. It’s a three hours journey from pune if you are going in a cab or private vehicle 2. You will get two toll gates and you have to pay around 250 at one gate nd around 40 rs on another one. 3. You can take ola or uber from Pune and it will cost around 2000-3000 excluding toll 4. Once you reach the first entrance of Matheran and you are going on ola or uber you have to pay 100 rs each for permit or leave your ola /uber there and go by the auto or vehicle that they offer. 5. Once you reach Dasturi Point you need to leave the cab (ola/uber) or any vehicle you are travelling through. 6. You need to take ticket to enter Matheran now 50rs/each 7. You can get a horse 400rs each or take train for which you need to get the ticket one hour or half n hour early For example:- If the train is at 3:20 pm then you will get the ticket at 2pm 8. It takes 20 mins approx by train or by horse to reach Matheran from dasturi point 9. First class ticket cost 305 and second class costs 45 for adult .. for children it is half. 10. I stayed in Greenfield resort which is the perfect choice because it has all the main attractions at walking distance so you don’t have to take horse again you can trek and see all the views and second it is very peaceful and budget friendly 11. Spend a day in matheran and try to cover all the points before sunset as it gets dark and scary

I visited Matheran hill station with friends and had an absolutely amazing time! The scenery was breathtaking and the horse riding experience was unforgettable. The horses were well-trained and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly. The views from the top of the hill were simply stunning, and the fresh air was a welcome escape from the city. The town itself was charming and had plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. I would highly recommend this destination to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and a chance to connect with nature. Overall, my experience at Matheran hill station with horse riding was nothing short of 5 stars! See you again

Matheran, a charming hill station, is a paradise for nature enthusiasts. I was captivated by its tranquil beauty and clean, pollution-free environment. What I like about this place is, that no vehicles are allowed within the town. Additionally, no cellular network is available. So you can have freedom from any disturbance. The toy train rides, which takes you up the hill, offers breathtaking views of lush greenery and the valley below. We stay here for 3 days, and it's highly recommended to be here for at least 2 days. Because, this is dotted with numerous viewpoints like Panorama Point, Monkey Point, and Louisa Point, each offering a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape. Exploring the dense forests and meandering pathways on foot or horseback is a serene and rejuvenating experience. Matheran's delightful climate, fresh air, and the warm hospitality of the locals make it an ideal getaway. This quaint hill station is a perfect escape from bustling city life, offering tranquility and natural beauty that left a lasting impression. The best season is monsoon and still, not much crowded. The perfect hill station point is the Panorama Point which includes Jungle Trekking of more than 2 kilometers. this can be an unforgettable trip with your family and friends.

This is the most beautiful place in Maharashtra. Rainy days are very beautiful here because the view that you'll get is the best one. But the problem is you cannot go there by bike or car. You need to get a horse to visit the places or you can walk. If you walk you'll get very tired.

For entering into the hill station you shall have your vaccination certificate. If you don't have then you'll not be allowed. You can have horse ride at a reasonable rate. 350rs= 5 points ... You can enjoy the cold breeze the area is clean and maintained. but you shouldn't remove any food from your bags. As the monkey's over there are really aggressive. So don't share anything or give anything to them. Food is also tasty in matheran both veg and nonveg food is available!

Hie! My trip to Matheran Hill with my 3 friends on January 13th, 2024 is like it was a total blast! We had an amazing stay at Rangoli Retreat Hotel. The food there must have been absolutely mind-blowing it touched us soul like! And it's awesome that the rooms and service were pretty good too. It's a shame that the swimming pool was under construction and we couldn't chill there as planned. But yes, sometimes unexpected things happen during trips. Overall, me and friends had a fantastic experience that we'll cherish. 😄🌴🌞

Serene hill station in the far out central suburbs of Mumbai, ideal for a day trip or two or even three 😇! Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the serenity of the place, picturesque hills and valleys below, a tiny hilltop temple, a distant waterfall, but most of all the development of the hillstation. The paved pathways up at the different points made for good walking.

Visited in last week on September 2021. The weather was very pleasant if you like rain and greenary. There was slight showers intermittently. The trek to different points was very much enjoyable due to overcast conditions. I observed a drastic difference in just 2 years as a lot of construction work is happening in Matheran now mainly building roads leading to view points.

It's a beautiful place to spend your weekend. However as it's a green Zone, no bikes or cars are allowed inside. So you have to travel by horses (available with the vendors!) And the haathgaadi or just walk along the beautiful sceneries throughout! Beautiful waterfalls with mind blowing view.!

Quiet place. Not so cool at present. No need to take a horse ride. Easy to go on top. Max 1 and 1/2 km walk. One can go along with the railway track also. Toy train available but with limited timings.

Matheran hill station is a small picnic kind of spot where you can do trekking and sightseeing. Very affordable place to visit and horse riding too ...enjoyed a lot and two days is more than enough to complete all spot . Keep in mind to carry umbrella or raincoat, also the toy train timing where they have special service time on weekends.

Matheran Hill Station is a true paradise for nature lovers! The scenic beauty of the surrounding hills, the cool breeze, chirping birds, picturesque landscapes, dense forests, and cascading waterfalls is simply mesmerizing. The best part is that it's a vehicle-free zone, allowing you to explore the serene trails on foot or horseback. The panoramic viewpoints like Panorama Point and Echo Point offer breathtaking vistas of the valleys below. Trust me, a visit to Matheran will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!

This place is suits only young people. We have to walk more to see spots and it seems no attractive. It's full of monkeys. Monkeys will attack who carrying eatables. It's very dangerous for tourist to walk with eatables. One should think and know about matheran before going. No two/three/four wheeler available. Only depend upon horse if who cannot walk in the hill

  • 5/5 Utkarsh J. 7 months ago on Google
This place is quite beautiful and scenic during monsoon season. Summer season is not at all recommended for the destination to enjoy, one will be roasted under scorching heat. During monsoon season one can buy use and throw / one time raincoats for rs 60(thin plastic) and rs 150(better quality plastic but half sleeves). Rest, one can get to listen to a variety of birds like the whistling bird. Train timings are to be confirmed before hand as only 2 trains run during the day in the morning. Trains can be avoided in the monsoon season as the tracks may be blocked due to fallen tree trunks so better to enjoy the scenic routes walking.

Collect all possible information about points, plan directions so you can explore most of the places. Local packages available to visit points ranging from 2500 to 3500 around, if u love adventure n trekking do prefer walking. It's hill station so obvious poor network.

Matheran is a place which always has pleasant vibes! The place is great, the people are great.. You can go here to chill.. The dense canopy protects you on most roads from the sun and you can roam around on foot for long distances.. The best time to visit is during monsoon or the winter..

  • 4/5 Jyo 9 months ago on Google
Always book a hotel prior to your visit there in weekends. Because, there are too many people and too less hotels. I personally recommend going it at the end of summers and in early winters. Rainy season isn't for this hill station. Also, carry cash as there are no atms where you buy tickets. Not even signal will reach there. Toy train in rainy season is available after you reach half way. If you came by car, park it and go by tourist cab cars as it is extremely not neat ghat road towards up, and your car might damage in shifting gears. Once you reach up, try konkan katta hotel for sea food varieties. It is amazing. Also, toy train experience is good. Book a nice hotel before you go there. Overall good experience if you go with a minimum of four people.

Wonderful sight seeing place surrounded by the beauty of the nature. You can reach till Aman lodge by road. There is ample parking space. You need to take a ticket to enter Matheran which is 50rs/each as of now. From Aman Lodge toy trains are available to Matheran. But the frequency of toy trains is low after every 1 hr and very crowded you will have to spend a lot of time in queue for the tickets. Another option is to take a horse ride or a hand rickshaw. It is a good experience and they will help you cover a lot of points. But the best option to experience the beautiful nature and mountain trails is by walking. You can also walk along the rail tracks and enjoy. But you will cover less sight seeing points compared to horse riding. Avoid weekends to avoid crowd. A very nice hill station to visit with family and friends. A great weekend escape from the crowded city life.

It's a serene place. Be prepared to walk around a lot. Choose footwear wisely. Preferably shoes or sports sandles. It gets chilly in the evenings and night so carry winter wear. A days stay is always great. It's not a one day visit place. You need at least 2 days to get around.

One of the most beautiful place near to Mumbai. You can enjoy short trip on weekends or holiday. Advice to reach early morning otherwise you have to walk a lot as this place is no motor vehicle zone. Only toy train and horses are available for service. If you want to explore it full and have budget & Time then try to stay at night at any hotel.

Beautiful place for nature lovers. Long secluded trails. Those who find it difficult to walk can hire horse or hand pulled Rikshaw. Vehicles are banned beyond the entry point to matheran. Good hotels available Parking is available near the entry gate. Taxis are available from neral. The toy train works only for 2 km at the top.

One of the best places to go from mumbai for a great weekend or a short trip. Easily accessible by trains/ road. Many resorts and villas are available for stay. Lots of shops available to grab a snack. You can find corn at many intervals. A great trail to follow through the woods!

Very beautiful and serene nature !!! What we call it matheran : mother forest !!! Hill station !! Weekend crowded ! But. Can come one can enjoy deeply here !! And if want to cover all sightseeing points one should get horse riding option in ₹1400 it's may seems expensive but believe me once you cover all your points you won't regret !! Actually they cover horse riding 13-14km round so it would take 3 hrs approx !!! Hotels are affordable here !! If you are coming holidays here like new year or Christmas you would may find prices for hotels bit expensive so plan accordingly !! It's just 32km from kalyan and good option from Pune also you need to disembark on karjat station and there from take local train to neral from there you will get private taxis at ₹400 or you can go by mini train from neral but inquire for departure points !! I would like to suggest atleast one or two day stay here if want to cover everything !!

Closest destination from Mumbai if you want to take a quick break from your routine and bounce back. I ticked one of my bucket list, which was biking. I rode all the way from Mumbai to Matheran and this was such an amazing experience. I hv always been a co-passenger but self riding (Total 170kms round trip🛵) was an experience in itself. The weather was pleasant not very cold but still felt serene. Cleanliness is something which was missing, as this is tourist place can be preserved for years and years. Greenery is something I was awed by. And Monkeys wow they can even grab food from inside your bag. 🤪 Visited all the destination via horse riding, thrilling indeed also got enthusiastic about learning horse riding maybe someday! Mini train is also operational and can be used to move about. Food is average at the food joints and expensive but had got lucky to have some real authentic home cooked food. Zhunka Bhakar.. Yummm! Also had made bonfire in the middle of the night to keep warm and a have a little adventure. Have clicked some beautiful pictures of in and around for you to take a glimpse of Matheran. Overall wonderful experience.
