Peb fort is also known as Vikat Gadh. Its a moderate level trek. 2-3 hrs depending on the pace. Please carry along 2 litre of water per person during non monsoon season. Also some food items. Do not litter along the way. Its a beautiful place. Let us all make effort to keep it that way..

I Totally underestimated this trek to be an easy one but after completing this trek I would rate it to be moderate one. There are two ways to reach this fort , one by taking the toy train railroute and the other is from Fanaswadi village. I would suggest you to start your trek by taking the toy train rail route and trek all the way. First stop I took was at a Temple, then we continued towards the Peb fort. The view from top is just mesmerizing with lush green mountains. I took the rail route to get back as I had my vehicle parked there. Best time to visit this fort would be during the monsoons but be careful possible go with a group. I would like to request you all to not throw your garbage anywhere and destroy the beauty of the place. Thank you!

via fanaswadi peb trek is hard for new trekkers, if want thrilling experience then you can go via fanaswadi->peb fort->Matheran, It is difficult especially for girls because there are big stones and you need to climb them. I saw many girls crying at the top because they couldn’t climb. if you want easy trek then you can go by matheran. it's easier way than jungle trek.

This is one of the beautiful spots in Maharashtra which is not so popular amongst the trekking community, there are multiple ways to reach the vikalgad peb fort. 1.you can start from panvel 2.you can reach matheran via road from karjat and you can start walking via toy train route from anand lodge(easiest way) 3. you take suburban from kalyan/thane to neral station and head to aanandwadi village (i suggest this),the trail starts from raj hotel (i have added on the map) the trail is very beautiful if you're trekking in monsoon, it will be beautiful to watch the lush greenery, and a bit adventurous, villagers can show you the way from aanandwadi, then you can follow the trail , for the first few kilometres follow the heavy transmission electrical line, trekking usually takes 5-6 hrs if you're taking regular haults and rest, total to walk is around 9 kms

Trek was so easy. We started the trek late in afternoon around 2 pm. It was a sudden plan made by friends.we carried not much stuff with us only drinking bottles and some food. While walking through old tracks and next to it nature view and clouds surrounded by it the water falling from tops it was like heaven😍. It is not difficult must visit in monsoon the nature beauty is amazing. We reached at top of peb fort at 4 pm. As we reached the clouds were around us it was thundering and raining lightly. It gives 360 view from top. Must visit with friends it will give totaly different experience.😍😍😍😍😍😘

Easy to Moderate difficulty of trekking during monsoon. Advisable to visit during monsoon or winter especially in month of July to enjoy rain, clouds and waterfalls. You can catch Matheran going taxi from Neral station to drop you at Ganesh Ghat for 100 per person. From there it is approximately 8km of walking distance to reach at top of Peb fort.

If you are looking for a day trek in Pune and are tired of constantly visiting places like Sinhagad or Gultekdi, Parvati, then you will definitely love this Peb's Fort in Neral. During the rainy season, the thrill of climbing here, chasing the clouds and finding the way of the railway tracks is different. It is recorded in history that this fort was named Peb after the Peb goddess Varuna at its base. A major attraction is the waterfall on the way up to Peb's fort. On the way to this fort, 200 meters further, Ganpati Bappa is seated on the rock carved in stone. There is a single big cave on the fort and it is clearly mentioned in the history that it must have been used as a granary during the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This cave is so big that 150-200 people can easily fit inside. Just to enter the cave you have to crawl down and currently you have to carry an oxygen cylinder here so we didn't go to that side.

A great point for adventurers and trekkers. There are two ways to reach at top. 1. From Anandwadi village, where it takes about 3 to 3.5 hours to reach the top. Though it gets quite difficult as you go higher, so this route is not recommended for beginners. You can reach Anandwadi by Auto/Cab from Neral station which costs about Rs.50 to 100 per head. 2. From Matheran entrance point, you can pay the entrance fees and reach the top in about 1 to 2 hours. Overall had a great and thrilling experience and would definitely recommend to trekkers.

I had an incredible experience visiting Vikatgad, also known as Peb fort, in Neral. Our journey began with the scenic Sinhgad Express from Pune to Karjat, followed by a Mumbai local train ride to Neral station. The train journey itself offered breathtaking views that felt like a glimpse of heaven. Upon reaching Neral station, we embarked on a 3-4 km trek to the fort, and it was nothing short of amazing. The trek rewarded us with awe-inspiring vistas that etched unforgettable memories in our minds. Reaching the fort's summit, we discovered a serene temple surrounded by breathtaking valley views in every direction. To add to the adventure, the heavens opened up, and we experienced the magic of heavy rainfall amidst this natural beauty. As we began our descent via an alternate route, we found ourselves on the enchanting Matheran toy train track, offering photogenic views that left us in awe. Strolling along the track, we eventually reached the main road of Neral. Vikatgad was a true gem, offering an unforgettable blend of nature, adventure, and spirituality. The journey from Pune and the trek itself were filled with mesmerizing moments. If you're seeking a memorable escape into nature's embrace, Vikatgad is a must-visit destination.

Fort Peb is situated on northeast side of Panvel, on Mumbai-Pune road, at a distance of 3-4 km on west side of Neral. To avoid crowd at hill stations like Matheran, nature lovers must visit the nearby fort Peb. This is the most beautiful one-day trek. One would find Peb similar to Gorakhgad in terms of the time required to climb the fort, ways towards the fort, the cave and the surrounding nature. But there is a dense forest on the way to the fort Peb. Nowadays deforestation has reduced it a lot. The fort is also named as ‘VikatGad The cave on the fort is occupied by disciples of Swami Samarth, a great saint. They have contributed a lot to development on this fort from last ten years. They have managed successfully to keep the cave and the fort clean, and maintained the dignity of the fort. Near to this cave are meditation caverns, which are underground. These caverns are still in good condition. One has to crawl into these and only one man can enter at one time. In monsoon two of these are filled with water. On the top we can go by climbing the wall of the fort. This would have been the main entrance. From here we can climb by holding the rods fixed in the rock. The people provide ladder on request. On the top we can see some remnants. The main attraction here is the bastion on the topmost part. This faces the mountain of Matheran. Here we can clearly see the ridge connecting mountains of Matheran and Peb. When we stand here we feel to be at the top of the world. Here we find many crystals. On the other side of the fort is a temple of a deity. Here is a big cistern. The disciples are constructing a good temple here. We can reside here for some time. The beautiful waterfall on the way is the main attraction here. Surrounding scenery looks marvelous from the cave in the monsoon. From here we also see the pinnacles of Navara-Navari, Bhatoba and Irshaal, along with forts of Chanderi, Prabalgad and Malanggad and also Nakhind. This trekking is pleasant in all seasons.

An excellent trek of medium level of difficulty. Not recommended for first time or inexperienced trekkers. We started from Neral and reached base village by auto. The atmosphere was cool, humid and frequent rains made it pleasant. After crossing jungle, rocks, and narrow mud routes and a bit tough rock patch which we ascended using a rope we reached fort top in three and half hours. A beautiful view of waterfalls en route.A Gurudutt temple which is known as Prati Girnar is there.Beautiful atmosphere and view of Chanderi Fort and Sahyadri mountain range and a dam.We descended from other route which had a staircase and huge crowd being Sunday.Again a steep, narrow traverse route and we reached the Matheran toy train route and reached Matheran in two and half hours.Watched कड्यावरचा गणपती and enjoyed soaking in waterfall to refresh ourselves.Avoid weekend and take local guide.Note local timing especially for return and plan accordingly.Snacks, cold drink and tea coffee available till the top of the fort.

It's a moderately difficult trek, would recommend going with a experienced guide. The view from the top is totally worth it as you can see from the pictures. The terrain is extremely rocky and not muddy so shoes with gum sole are recommended. Do not use decathlon shoes here. Difficulty - 8/10

This trek is easy but dangerous at one part you will enjoy for sure. Some parts are too easy but some parts will make you tired. I enjoyed the trek and it's best to go early in the morning or you can go during the evening too but will be late to return. When coming from Neral mention to your taxi driver you are going to peb fort he will guide you where to get down and the path is pretty much easy after that.

It's amazing experience, I was started tracking at 3 pm with my 4 friends. Firstly not on correct path but one friends says 'kaha to niklenge' some time found a correct path, all not know path is how difficult or how long, and also time so short to complete hole path Some returns group meets and says you require more time to complete path. 2 friends says 'aa gaye hai to complete karke hi jayange' difficulty also increase with rain 🌧️ So many groups are meeted at every point and share it's extraordinary experience But completed whole root in minimum time. So nice place other than hills station 1.tracking 2.full enjoy 3.nature good experience 4.some pint difficult 5.stairs 6.Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj 🚩 7.Fort 8.Swami Samarth Maharaj Mandir (top point) 9. Ganesh I will suggest to visit this place
