One of the greatest joys of travel is to discover quaint little eating places in some remote places where we least expect to be served food that even beats that of fancy star hotels.Ganesh Refreshments was such a place that was the happy result of serendipity while we stayed at the Usha Ascot Hotel at Matheran. I feel that even a world class traveller would opine that the food deserves to be rated the best eating experience, provided you care little for thrills and fancy frills to inflate bills! The only place where we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner daily for 4 days at a stretch. The food so good that we could not even entertain the thought of trying out the other popular restaurants in the bustling market area. Mr Santosh is the chef who told us that he had earlier worked at another hotel where he perfected the art of turning out the perfect Parsi and Goan dishes. But we found his Spanish and French omelettes as good as world class. Santosh blushed with pride and humility when I told him that he deserves to be rated as Michelin star chef. The lava cake erupted with rich molten chocolate. He does not save or scrounge on the butter or cheese dishes either. As charitable as the Parsis! I am 75 plus now. I may not visit Matheran again. Hence this ode to 'Ganesh'.

Had the most amazing dinner last night! The ambience was magical and in tune with the food. We had the baked potato with chicken and cheese. It was crusty and the chicken was so well seasoned. We had the caramel custard as well for desert. The custard was melt in the mouth amazing. The caramel on top was truly the cherry on top. It was dark but not overly dark, just hit the right spot. One of the best meals I have had in my life. The vibe and the experience of their place is beyond beautiful. All my meals are booked here and can't wait to eat more ♥️

Must go when you visit Matheran, Cosy place with delicious food, the owner , the chef all are amazing. We tried Parsi cuisine Dhansaak, both veg and nonveg, mouthwatering and even we had parathas, aromatic pan cakes, grilled chicken tandoori, coffee, dal fry. Everything was superb.. We had all our lunch and dinner here only.

Stayed in Matheran for 3 days and had every single meal here. All the dishes were delicious. There's a unique variety to choose from. The owners are very sweet and welcoming. Spanish Omelette is a must try 🤌

You will have to connect with them in advance for lunch for dinner, so they can prepare accordingly. Direct walk in will have limited options to eat.

This is a cozy restaurant run by a family. The food is delicious. We had dinner and breakfast here. The owners are friendly and give good suggestions if you are confused about what to order. Must try their chocolate pancake and omelletes. One thing to note is that you have to order lunch/dinner atleast 2-3 hours prior. Most of the breakfast menu is readily available. No complaints regarding the quality and taste of food.

We stayed in Matheran for 3 days and had almost every meal here! The food was absolutely delicious and cooked with so much love and care. The quaint restaurant is managed by an an adorable couple, Santosh and Sneha. They are so hospitable and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. This is a must visit restaurant in Matheran!

OUR rating would be a SUPER 5 Star. Been visiting Matheran for more than 8 years now, sometimes thrice a year as well. Been to almost all restaurants and hotels for a grub up in Matheran, but not one could even come close to this EXCEPTIONAL food joint in Matheran. Santosh the owner of the restaurant is a gem of a person. Over the years, we've become friends. The food he prepares is so Yummylicious, you will surely ask him what time does he close. Home food on a holiday can't get any better than your grub at Ganesh Restaurant. Breakfast at Santosh's joint is Magical, must try his French Toast, which is so perfectly made, not forgetting his Cheese Omelet, or his simple Masala Maggi. It's just out of this world. Have your breakfast here, and you'll be supercharged to visit all those attraction points at one go!. Santosh, you've got magic in your fingers, your smile is what brings light to your little restaurant, and your music mixed with your food is what takes all your tensions and worries away. Made to order food. Had an amazing meal on a friend's recommendation. Finding such cuisine (Goan and Parsi) in Matheran was a pleasant surprise. The chef knows what he is doing. White pepper chicken with kada pav was fire. Dhansak was good too. They also have a cake shop. All in all a nice place to eat out or take away. Call in few hours early and ask them to prepare the order on their recommendation. 5/5

Gem of a place with delicious Parsi food. We tried the roast chicken, chicken pattice and chicken cutlet. The taste was amazing and pretty authentic.

I was in Matheran for 2 days and I only ate at this place. We have tried Pancakes, omelets, and shephard's pie. All were great. Considering the rains, we asked if we could get soups. The owner agreed to make it for us though it was not in the menu. Food is fantastic. The portions are larger than you expect so ask about it before placing a large order. I don't need another restaurant at matheran now. Make sure you order for Lunch and Dinner in advance though. That menu is not available for walk ins.

So we tumbled across this one of a kind place in Matheran and trust me we were walked out satiated.🤩 Right from the pancakes 🥞 to the mutton dhansak to the brownie are just scrumptious and beyond words. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Warm hospitality and awesome music 🎶 to make it more appealing.

Ganesha Refreshment" one of the best restaurant to visit it... The food is absolutely wonderful from preparation to presentation, very pleasing.. The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value of price..some of the food we had which u all should definitely try like cupcakes, Spanish omelet, parsi food, cheese aloo paratha etc etc.. We had so many dishes can't explain in words, just go n try it instead of reading it.. Every dish of Ganesha Refreshment is mouthwatering.. We highly recommend it.. Thanks

Delicious food, good music and great hospitality. This is the place to go if you want to eat something good in Matheran

We stayed at Usha Ascot hotel for couple of nights. Since it serves only veg we decided to venture out for non veg meals. Came across Ganesh. Buoy if you want to have home cooked style food this is the place. You order anything, Veg - Non Veg, it is cooked with less oil and super taste. For dinner we had wheat chapati(not roti) with Chicken and Mutton biriyani. Truly awesome taste. For breakfast we had burji and Spanish Omlet. The SO is such a filler I had light lunch enroute sightseeing. Must visit.

Getting a cake in Matheran itself it's a achievement but please request to the owner don't fool the customer as I had ordered a cheesecake for 0.5 kg but they delivered 1 kg that toh it s was normal cake kindly see the cake picture and correct yourself and it was my 8 wedding anniversary but no complain this cake was also delicious so thank you will visit again

Gamesha refreshments is the place which serves very nice snacks. The place is well maintained and they play nice music too
