I spent 2 weeks at Spendlove hospital i had the best experience, the most caring people ever doctor & nurse's, the chef's & food was the best. The first week i was in very bad condition and i was in so much pain but i learnt alot of things during physio. the nurses were so close to everyone taking their time to talk to everyone & always had beautiful smile and energy, any help we needed they where there. Best hospital experience ive ever had, thank you to all the staff.

I phoned today to find out who now owned this place. I had read online that it was sold about 7 years ago. I'm having surgery in a few weeks & if my dr sends me here I would want to know that the previous owners were LONG GONE! I'm a professional person. I nearly died in Spendlove hospital! When I read the description of this place online today, I couldn't believe it was the same place. I was seriously overdosed by a GP who was the ONLY dr coming in to check patients. The cleaners were doing the cooking. They only had 2 Indian casual nurses. I was given a cocktail of Endone, Morphine, Lyrica, etc. I have the Medicare records to prove my case. I have nursed & also a retired counsellor, social welfare worker etc. I phoned today to ask who the current owners were. The admin person was EXTREMELY rude to me when I simply asked when the hospital was sold (it is not a hospital ... it just a set of rooms). She refused to tell me when it was sold & who the present owners are. WHY SO DEFENSIVE!!???

November 2019 After having foot surgery, I am most grateful and fortunate to have had the opportunity for post operative care at Spendelove Private Hospital. I have been impressed with the excellent level of professional care and commitment by the Carers and Nursing Team. My thanks to Dr Kelly who guided and supported my rehabilitation with pain management and care through his regular visits including weekends. Rooms are very comfortably appointed and hygienically maintained by a friendly, respectful cleaning team. Meals are homely and nutritional. This quality food is prepared and cooked on site by a chef and her kitchen team. I have no hesitation in recommending Spendelove Private Hospital for their Professional Medical Care with a team of supportive, compassionate and dedicated staff. Thank you! Faye Haas Nov.2019

Wonderful, that’s how I describe Spendelove House. I spent two weeks as an inpatient as part of their Pain Centre of Excellence program in phase 1. The staff are amazing, kind, supportive and understanding, the food is fabulous and the facilities provide all most anything someone could need. The Pain Centre care team have changed my life as a chronic pain sufferer this program needs to be available to all chronic pain suffers as this should be the future of health care, a holistic way of treating at the whole person rather than just treating symptoms. If you have chronic pain and are able to get into the Pain Centre of Excellence programme, I say do it, grab the opportunity to change your quality of life for the good. Best thing to happen to me after 4 years of chronic pain. Thank you Spendelove House, see you all in phase 2.

While not a patient, but merely a husband that cares for my wife and wants the best of care for her. My wife has spent a total if over 11 weeks this year in recovery at Spendlove, and I have nothing but praise for all the staff. From the moment you 1st book in with Libby to the cleaners, the catering and nursing staff are spot on. The staff have managed to acheive this all within a full blown refurb going on all around them, amazing. The care and attention my wife is getting on a day to day basis, is 10 out of 10. It also allows me to rest and recover after heart surgery with no stress. Thanks to ALL the staff at SPENDLOVE, you are all exceptional and have made my wife relaxed, and comfortable, and can only highly recommend this facility at times in your life when things turn upside down. Thanks a million.

So disappointed with my stay there. I was delivered to my room, cell like with no view and no balcony. There are NO balconies in any rooms and no view at all along one side of the building, their advertising is misleading. I had no help unpacking or packing to leave for what was to be a 2-3 wk stay after foot surgery, and I was supposed to be non weight bearing on that foot - stay off it. There was a bottle of spring water on the bed table on arrival but that was the only water ever offered, I had to fill the bottle each day from the bathroom, not easy when using a hopper frame to get around. The first night there were no pain meds, and I was supposed to have strong meds which they kept locked away. I was in agony and asked for the meds at midnight. They came back and said I should be self medicating - how??! when they had them locked up elsewhere!! Unbelievable. I was helped to bag my foot for a shower only once, and only because the nurse came in to get a meal tray when I was getting myself ready. Coffee cups were usually stained and I felt like a difficult patient when I asked for a clean replacement so I started cleaning them in the bathroom myself. Wine was never offered when ordering meals. On the Sunday I asked why they don’t do wine and was told they do have it, what would I like? Yay! So I asked for a red wine with my evening meal and no wine came! I arrived on Thursday afternoon last week and left Monday morning. I was getting no help there so I felt I could cope on my own at home. I would NEVER recommend this place after my experience. Definitely NOT the luxury experience they promote and I did speak with the Nursing Director before I left. I asked her if she’d like to spend 3 weeks with no assistance in the cell I had and she’d said they could have moved me - but they didn’t and no comment re lack of assistance, although she will speak with the kitchen… I need surgery on my other foot in the next few weeks but I definitely won’t be going there for rehab.

I spent 2 weeks in June 2020 at Spendelove. The staff are just fantastic. The food is great. The care is 2nd the none. The nurses, doctor, carers, catering, admin, cleaners, and other patients made this place a home away from home. U never wanna b in hospital long but if you are, this is the best place 4 it. 🤕😁

A brilliant hospital that took care of my father while we found him suitable aged care accommodation. The nursing staff are very experienced and knowledgeable. Communication between staff was the best I have seen at any hospital. Very proactive in managing any medical issues. Kitchen staff accommodated my father's preferences. All staff were caring, compassionate and understanding. A specialist hospital that many of the larger hospitals could learn from.

I am most grateful to everyone at Spendelove who cared for me during my recovery from surgery. The friendly, cheerful nurses, carers, catering staff, cleaning team and administration gave me such wonderful attention that I am recovering more quickly than I expected. Special mention to Dr Kelly for his respect and regular checks. Bless each one of you. Mara Smart

Beautiful staff that are genuine in your care. The meals/ menu are spoken too/ asked personally by the cook and you have 2 choices with main and deserts. I'm sure they would also attended to your dietary needs. Rooms are well appointed with a balcony and wheelchair accessible toilet/ shower. Doctor Laurence Clark is always on hand and help is only a nurse call button with prompt response. I can only hope your level of care is a professional as mine. Thankyou Splendlove Hospital in my surgical recovery, and a special thanks to nurse Louise for being so nice to my parents when visiting. All the staff are amazing and competent and make you feel at ease. Will always have fond memories of my stay, Mark Mellor 6/9/2014

I recently spent two weeks at Spendelove for treatment for Fibromyalgia and although some aspects were informative and helpful overall I was disappointed with the facility and the therapies that were on offer. Most of the staff are beautiful people who are passionate about treating patients who live with chronic pain but management and hospital owners can be unsympathetic and uncaring.

I have just completed 14 days at Spendelove, and I have to say that I truly appreciated every staff member because nothing I asked for was too hard for anybody. There is a friendliness at Spendelove that I have not experienced in any other local hospital, i.e. I was nursed and looked after by a grandmother, daughter, and granddaughter combination, all from the one family, and they, and all their colleagues, are 'extra miler' type people. THANKS ALL.

I’m somewhat allergic to hospitals, but the recovery rooms were akin to a 5 star hotel which greatly assisted in alleviating my anxiety and I’m convinced this sped up my recovery. I’d without hesitation recommend Spendlove and their team to all.

Just spent 2 nights after surgery . I highly recommend spendlove as I live 600kms from the Gold Coast it was great having extra time to recover. I was only on liquid food but I talked to other patients they all said the food was great. The staff are amazing nothing is to much trouble and they all happy. Thank you All again. Paul

I have just spent the last 10 nights at Spendlove hospital and I can honestly say I was sad to leave and didn't want to go home. I was there as a self funded patient as my surgery and hospital expenses were not covered under my private health. The 10 nights at Spendlove cost $7500 and I can still say it was money well spent. From the booking with Libby to all the nursing staff, the carers, cleaners, and kitchen staff everyone was so lovely and helpful. Nothing was ever a problem, and everything was done with a smile. I could not do anything by myself and had severe wounds that required dressing daily. A massive thankyou to Wendy and Dr Kelly for making me feel more comfortable tending to these each day. I had a lovely big room with Queen size bed, and private bathroom. All of my meals were delicious with a choice of 2 lunches and dinners each day, heaps for breakfast and morning and afternoon tea. It was unlike any hospital food Ive ever had with it all being cooked by a chef onsite. I was on a cocktail of medications all day, and the nurses never missed a beat with administering them when required, and when needed at other times. I am so grateful for my time at Spendlove, and will definitely stay there again if Im ever in need for more surgery aftercare. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay there for their post op recovery.

There is a buzzer to be let in. No one answered. A staff member coming inside used their tag to let me in. There are no staff at reception when you enter. I had to use the elevator to get to level 2 to find any staff to assist me in locating my friends room. The rooms are extremely small and pokey and the guest area is nothing to rave about either. The wall mounted TV is pretty cool though.
