Great place for a steak with 1st class french wine. The wine choice is best in Prague in my opinion. The price overall is reasonable and I always bring my guest here for fine dining. The somelier Mr. Pelikan is a master of his class and the real wine enthusiast, who knows the wine and gives excellent recomendations.

My husband and I were lucky enough to snag a reservation at La Gare on our first night in Prague and it did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the food was some of the best french food we've ever had. Do yourself a favor and have dinner here.

We visited 3 times during the past 2 weeks. We wanted the dry aged beef but was not available. Good service and a great selection of French Wines. Nice deco and ambiance

What an absolutely amazing meal! Staff were friendly and knowledgeable with wine and steak choices. The food was cooked very nicely and everything tasted fresh and the flavours worked well together. Dessert was probably the best bit of the meal.

Food, service, and vibe were all excellent. Some minor improvements possible with service timing and etiquettr, but if want to get very pedantic. Overall a great location.

La Gare is the best hidden gem of Prague! Service is outstanding, especially Sergej, Jan and all other team members are providing perfect experience to guests. Decor is beautiful, stylish, elegant, but the food quality, taste and presentation stands above Prague food scene. After our first perfect dinner with the famous French onion soup and Snails, we returned twice to enjoy Oysters, steaks, shrimps and the heavenly desserts. We will definetly return again if we are in beautiful Prague! Highly recommended restaurant, would deserve Michelin recommendation!

I believe the 3* sums it up well. We ordered a great variety of dishes, where some were good and some not so much. To start with the positives, interior was nice and from the food the octopus, mussels and the sturgeon was done well. Unfortunately, the baguette that came with the mussels was very hard, not sure how old was it. We ordered the rooster and beef rib from the main courses. Rooster was so dry and beef rib - there was just nothing too impressive. Steaks were just average, had better before. I think the issue is the price they charge, and I believe that it should match the quality which overall it unfortunately did not. Customer service ended up being good, but in the beginning the waiter had some snarky comments in Czech because one guest spoke only in English.

Food was good enough but they forgot our appetizer and all around us they got food except us. Maybe they don’t like tourists I don’t know. Also they refilled my wine while still half full And charged me for another glass.

Truly amazing. Great food, atmosphere and service. The food is even better than many many brasseries in France. They start you up with a true baguette. Crisp and airy and you know the meal is going to be good. The onion soup is the best I had in Prague and definitely one of the best I ever tried. The escargot is amazing. Big, perfectly dressed with good garlicky butter. The mergez, oysters and that perfect steak is not to be messed as well. I really chose that place to try the duck. I did try to reserve on Thursday (they had a private party) and did ask a lot ahead if they can do it for us but unfortunately they refused.

A delightful break from traditional Czech cuisine. This place punches above its weight with quality, service, value, and ambiance. I had the Duck Breast and she had the 1/2 Chicken that she raved about, and it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. Highly recommended.

Superb restraunt with varied menu. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced- highly recommended for a great night out - especially the oysters and grilled octopus.

We had a very unpleasant experience with the service today. Everything was taking quite long to get ready, at least 40 min before the starters came, than another 30 min since we have finished them until the main dish. But the problem was not even in the waiting itself..the atmosphere around is beautiful and the food is delicious, so at least it is worth to wait. But our waiter, instead of at least apologizing for our experience, started to confront us and prove that we actually didn’t wait for that long..When the food came, one of the waiters took my phone and put in the the empty plate next to me. Under normal circumstances, I would be able to understand a joke but considering the fact we were already very hungry and very disappointed with their service, it was definitely crossing the line, showing us they don’t even take our complains seriously..Just would like to underline the fact, that sometimes it’s more important how the customer feels, not if all the instructions with timing in the kitchen were followed and a simple “sorry” would be enough to make a situation a bit better. Didn’t even mention that we were celebrating my friend’s birthday! Hope you would be able to improve it.

Bad food and even worse service. Firstly this night was a big dissapointement, we had the intentions to have a classy diner but it didn’t go as expected. The food was expensive for what it was and the glasses of wine were half full. The service felt uninterested and unbothered. Overall not the experience we had hoped for.

Fancy french restaurant. The decoration was very nice and modern and the food was very tasty. The service was not the best however.

Starters and main courses wasn’t anything special at all. Didn’t worth these money. Butter for bread and desserts were amazing. Stuffs are very open and polite. Strange to see the cheapest cloth napkins from IKEA on the tables when nice cutlery from a very good brand :)

we went there for valentine day. amuse bouche: nice oyster degustation: good but expensive starters: scallops (only 2, very expensive but delicious), foie gras (amazing) main: kalamari (delicious but hidden under salad) and merguez (very good) dessert: choco pyramid (good), cafe gourmand (good) drink: champaign by glass (amazing) overall good, good taste, but expensive (2000 kc per person -> champaign was not the only reason)

It is an upscale restaurant, that specializes in steaks and some sea food. However, I order only a flambee which is in my opinion the best also the cheapest dish here. It is a great choice when you want to have a food for take out. Other their dishes are just ok, paying premium mainly for the posh ambiance.

One of the best restaurants in the city! Amazing food, the taste of everything was unbelievable. Service excellent, the atmosphere just beautiful. Some of the best oysters I've had. Cannot wait to be back.

A very nice French restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and good food, although some of the dishes were a bit too salty for my taste.

  • 3/5 Michael S. C. 11 months ago on Google
Nice atmosphere and staff. We can expecting some nice French classics. The starters were good. Never had snails, and were happy with them, along with the mussels starter. However…the Coq au Vin and the Duck a l’Orange were extremely dry…even with the sauces…you could tell they were possibly pre-made earlier in the day…not a place we would come again.

Very lovely french restaurant. I made a reservation there for my birthday. Unfortunately I forgot to indicate that we want to sit by the wall of flowers. When we asked, we finally got a table there. The restaurant is very chic and slightly more expensive. We ordered a lot of food and it was very delicious. We had different starters and main courses. The waiter who served us was friendly but just wanted to get us done quickly.

Very nice decor and ambiance of the restaurant, pleasant staff. Very limited order of vegetarian and vegan options, unfortunately. Available for non carnivores is one salad (VG) with optional goat cheese, and one main dish - tarte flambe (VGT), both of which were tasty.

Mixed feelings after the visit, but overall nothing gave us a reason to try it again. Food-wise - oysters were nice, snails really good, main courses - coq au vin and duck breasts with oranges were a letdown. Service on a slower side with mistakes, tables cramped to the level they might have as well sit us at the same table

Conveniently located brasserie next to Hilton and Marriott hotels downtown Prague in the vicinity of Namesti Republiky. We had lunch there today at 13:00. The place was busy and noisy, like the “Gare”suggests - nádraží! To our dismay they were out of two items from their daily lunch menu. (???). Whoever runs this place should plan to have advertised dishes available. French onion soup was good but arrived lukewarm as if it was sitting somewhere for a while. This kind of soup should have been served steaming hot, IMO. Salads were excellent and so was Tomahawk Pork. Attentive and polite waiters. Overall it’s an average place but not for folks who want to carry a meaningful conversation due to the excessive noise. Some sound dampening decor might eliminate this issue. Prices fit the clientele and location. I give them 3 stars considering the flaws mentioned above.

Unfortunately, I can't put a 0 star rating so per default giving them an ill deserved 1 star. For the context, I have been to this place twice -given the convenience for where I am based - but will never set foot there ever again. It pretends to serve food from Alsace. The food has nothing to do with Alsacian food and to top it up, the quality is hit and miss. The waiters and staff have such an attitude and lack professionalism and efficiency. On the one time, we were asked if we wanted to split the bill and when we were ready to pay, were told we can't split the bill. On the second occasion, I said I wasn't happy with the service so will only pay for 10% of the bill in euro... the waiter put in 20% in Czech koruna and tricked me into paying it. When I mentioned it they just shrugged and said it was too late. Not to mention, the hefty comments... Avoid at all costs!

Horrible. Got Duck with Orange coloured sauce that tasted horrible. Smash potatoes that I just couldn't eat without nearly bringing back up. Luke warm bottle of water, that I could swear was filled from a tap. Advice, McDonald's is around the corner and a fraction of the price.

Great ambience as soon as you walk in. We made reservations through our hotel at 8pm on Friday for a party of 6. Wait staff were friendly. We ordered oysters, French onion soup, escargot for appetizers and French mixed salad w goat cheese. All the dishes were delicious. The goat cheese was excellent. The main dishes, we ordered the ribeye, French lamb rack, duck l’orange and beef tenderloin, and mussels with lemon emulsion. Sides - we had the French fries and Granielle (mini potatoes). The food was excellent. But the food was slow hence the knocking off one star. We were starving after a long day of exploring the city. We didn’t get our main course til after 50mins. Our dinner ending taking more than 2 hours, much longer than our usual dining session. There were times we waited 20-30 mins in between each course. Overall, it’s definitely quality here, just hope the speed of the food would arrive one after the next.

It is a French Resturant and it was my first time there… It is located in a very prime location in the city center…. The decorations is awesome but off course the most important thing is the FOOD😋 I have tried different things I started with the open fire grilled mussels in lemon sauce and was super then followed by a grilled veal stake and mash potatoes as a side dish & green salad The taste was amazing and super tasty This by far one of the best Resturant’s in Prague… All the items were fresh & cooked to the perfection… I would strongly recommend this restaurant for any one is coming to Prague… Overall rating: 20/10 Remarkable experience and for sure I will visit this place again next time…

The restaurant is very nice looking and the staff pleasant. However, the food was not up to our expectations: The bad points: - The "French" cheese platter had no taste or character and was very similar to the industrial brands found in supermarkets (especially the goat's cheese log which tasted the same as Soignon) - The half-chicken main dish consisted only of the chicken thigh and breast - so not a real half-chicken... It was however good (slightly too salty) but nothing exceptional for a restaurant - The HUGE disappointment was the mussels marinière! Served with grated carrots and coarsely chopped and barely cooked celery and onion! Absolutely nothing to do with the recipe for mussels marinière (butter, shallot, white wine, mussels and parsley - that's it!). It would be wise to name the dishes correctly on your menus to avoid other people to get disappointed. - Overpriced for the overall quality The good points : - The snails as a starter were very good, the filling was a change from the usual parsleyed butter - The fois gras as a starter was also good - The fries are very good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - The wine offered was of good quality In conclusion, if you are looking for real French food, I would not recommend this restaurant (and I speak as a French person).

Lovely meal-we ordered portobello mushroom for starters, onion soup, bone in ribeye with peppercorn sauce and szechuan style carrots.Everything was spiced to perfection and tasted amazing. We ended the meal with espresso and dessert which were close to perfect.Fine food and excellent service!

There are lots of great restaurants in Prague but this is one of the best. Strangely their simple salad is the best i’ve had in the city. Salad’s are hard for Czechs but this one rocks. Fresh great ingredients the right dressing. The bacon tartine is essentially the best pizza in town. And everything on the menu is delicious but not so delicate that you can’t go here regularly. Awesome place!
