Booked a room for a night away, what a good choice!! The pub itself is a proper country pub, although the dining room is a large, glass roofed almost conservatory like area, where we had breakfast - very nice. We ate our main meal in the bar, close to the open wood fire. The food was really good, venison saddle for me, warmed salad for my partner (a vegetarian, but she's ok!- she was happy for me to say that). The wine list was good, with a range of prices and styles, we had two bottles of house red (Sicilian Nero D'Avola - gorgeous). Our room was above the bar and it's possible that at busy times, there might be some noise coming through from below, but we didn't notice any, but it was quiet when we went up to our room. Should be noted that our room was also at the top of a tight, old, spiral wooden staircase, something to check when booking? Would we go again? Oh yes, the location is lovely and quiet, the pub (drinks and food) wonderful and the staff very welcoming and friendly.q

Food was ok. Wasn't really blown away, especially for the price, didn't really feel the quality matched the expense. Service was a bit lacking, but it was very busy to be fair. I will say though, the atmosphere is lovely and the place is beautiful. Will visit again just to make sure they were not having an off day.

Our son booked this pub for a family get together. Being coeliac it was great to see a Gluten Free menu, totally recommend the GF Fish and Chips. Great service by the staff, would strongly recommend this pub and food. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did.

We got so lucky after our original hotel cancelled on us last minute as it allowed us to stay in this fantastic pub! Room was amazing with brilliant little touches (loved the port!). Service from all the staff was first class, even bringing through extra starter when our mains were late. We didn't even think the food was late coming to us. Everyone made us feel so welcome and made a fuss of the dog eveytime they saw him!

Good lunch though my husband gets thought the pork belly was a bit dry. My fish and chips was very good. Crispy batter!!

Food, in my opinion was average apart from dessert which was very good. My steak was chewy and I left most of it. The waitress was excellent which is the only reason for the tip I left, it wasn't for the food

We stayed overnight at this pub for one night and we loved it 🙌🏻 The building has lots of character, and our room was cosy with nice facilities. The staff are all very friendly and the restaurant food was great! Our only slightly downside was the breakfast; we were waiting for over 30 minutes and the food wasn’t the best quality. Maybe stick with the cereal for breakfast in the morning… 👀 Overall we were very happy with our stay. You won’t regret visiting this place!

Great looking pub let down by some staff who were abrupt verging on rude, but it was maybe busy. Food was ok but i expected better for the price. It might have been an off night, so give them a chance. Just not great for me last night.

Charming pub, great for a pint. Beautiful restaurant space but food for party of 5 was disappointing. The menu online is misleading as looks far more varied and interesting to what was actually on offer and for the price the quality lacked. For example, the truffle mushroom linguine had very few mushrooms, was dry, bland, no truffle. The crayfish lacked any of the seasoning noted on menu. Not what we expected.

Our daughter lives in Ramsden and apart from visiting her we also love to visit the Royal Oak. The staff are brilliant, friendly but professional. Food is amazing, the best burgers in the world in my opinion! Looking forward to our next visit.

What was once one of the best roasts in the area has slipped to below average. Which is a real shame. Bone dry beef, potatoes poor on last two occasions, carrots & parsnips dried to oblivion sadly :( A real shame as we always brought visitors here, a group of 12 back in May, as the pub itself is beautiful and charming and we always expected a very good meal. Service is always very friendly though. The servers are lovely. Hope it can return to it’s former glory for its Sunday roasts.

A warm and cosy pub with a good pint and fantastic service. Haven't eaten here yet but will definitely be doing so!

I hired the private dining room at the pub for a couple of group lunches for yoga retreats I was running locally. The staff at Royal Oak Inn were so helpful in accommodating dietary requests and made sure we were all comfortable. They looked after us well! The pub is STUNNING, inside and out. It’s set in a beautiful little village and it looks so cosy and warm inside. The private dining room is also beautifully decorated! Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious! We had vegan and vegetarian options and they were all excellent. Beautifully presented and super tasty! Highly recommended! I’ll definitely come back! 👍🏼

A lovely pub in a "very" quiet village. There is nothing else to do around here apart from driving to somewhere you've planned to go to. Which is great as there are loads of places in the locality. The pub itself is worth a visit and definitely it's better staying in the rooms as the roads around are "nice old country roads". The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices, and the English breakfast was a great start to the that days exploring. Would I stay here again? Definitely! (But, as a warning, just watch out for those old spiral stairs if you're staying there the night! We were in the Wychwood room that is only only flight up, and there was another room above us.)

An amazing weekend away. Brilliant rooms, food, and service in a picturesque village. The only very minor negative was the £16 dog charge at the end of our stay - I’d rather this was included in the upfront cost. Otherwise, it was perfect!

Our second visit here. We stayed in the Wychwood room. It's beautiful, spacious and spotless. Plenty toiletries available in bathroom. Be aware, it's up a spiral staircase. We stayed for dinner. Delicious food with good portions. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty. Service is friendly. Parking on site.

Treated ourselves to a Sunday roast. Arrived at 6 pm, and unfortunately, they had sold out of beef Nevermind I had the pork and the wife had the vegetarian option. Both were amazing and cooked to perfection. The choice of ales was good and the children loved their fish and chips (very generous sizes for children's menu.) All in all would recommend - best potatoes we've had in Oxfordshire pubs.

Set withinin a small picturesque village within Oxfordshire and nice decor. Assistant Manager was very friendly, welcoming and informative. I only had time for a cup of tea but was impressed with the service and presentation. Will definitely visit again and food menu is reasonable priced. Thankyou for your hospitality.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and did their best to keep the kitchen going after a power cut. Our pooch was also made very welcome, despite being a bit of terror and knocking over a glass of wine! The room was immaculate and extremely comfortable, with lots of nice touches (such as a small decanter of port). Oh and a proper cosy old pub – great bar area with open fires and board games. The dining area very lovely too. Someone really knows what they're doing with the decor!

5 stars for the ambience and quality of food and service We called for two small plates (they are small...), Chips and the mains on the other tables looked delish PS: it's pricey!!

A real Pub with real beer and great food. The staff are top notch and it is in a beautiful village. Also a real community spirit. Everybody seems to know each other ! Dogs allowed too. There are rooms so you can sleep there, although we didn't.

The Royal Oak Ramsden is a lovely country pub and has recently been refurbished it has a great dining area and bar. We just went for lunch. The menu was varied and not too expensive and the selection of wines and beers were good too. Everyone enjoyed their food and we would certainly go there again

Lovely little hotel in Ramsden village. Food is lovely although a bit expensive, but nicely presented, Breakfast was amazing too. Room was Wilcote, which was lovely and clean. Lots of complimentary tea and coffee, water and wine. Plenty of complimentary bathroom goods too. Only downside was the 2 doors opposite the room were obviously staff or owners doors and were banging till about midnight.. Other than that,, no issues with this lovely place.

We had a great meal here yesterday evening. We were a group of 15 with a dog and 3 nut allergies and the service was excellent. Coped very well with allergies and ordering for a large group. Lovely atmosphere with a sing along to someone playing the piano. Staff were also lovely and friendly

What a lovely place. I think I am not wrong at all if I say that in fact is a rustic, amazing looking pub with rooms for rent. The dinner in the garden was delicious and slightly expensive, but ... all UK is expensive to be honest. Great breakfast in the morning, included in the room price. The family suite, in fact a great refurbish of the old stables was clean, comfortable and perfectly suited for families (the bunk beds are the children favorites no matter the age ;)) We even had a small terrace in front of the suite, not really easy to use as it was exactly where the kitchen back door was opening. but still. And dog friendly. And that was super important for us, to be accepted with our poodle (not easy to find such places in UK).

Lovely place to eat and stay. Food good, staff friendly- nothing to much trouble. We were surprised by a glass of bubbles as we're were celebrating our anniversary. Very thoughtful given how busy they were. Our room was huge, with the usual complimentary teas (good brand and extensive herbal selection) and coffee (bags), still and sparkling water and of course the Bordar biscuits. I would recommend and I would stay again.

Can’t believe we haven’t been since this has been taken over…but we’ll certainly be back! Fab meal and service and so refreshing to have a menu with a bit of imagination. Wonderful food and evening, can’t wait to return.

Excellent Sunday roast in a really stunning environment. Lovely new barn with plenty of other nooks and crannies to sit in, courtyard garden and loggia. Friendly staff, amazing food. Quite pricey (£19 for beef/lamb and £10 smoked duck starter) but you don’t begrudge the price too much. Only issue was quite a few flies in the corner of the new barn where we were sitting - no idea why, maybe we were unlucky but perhaps a check the area would be good to make sure they are t being attracted to something.

Great rural dog friendly pub with well specified rooms, good selection of ales, great food and most importantly it's run by an excellent team, really nice and accommodating people.

Amazing pub, superb Sunday roast. Emily in particular went the extra mile. My Land Rover decided to break down whilst we were dining in the pub, and she summoned the kitchen crew to push it out and even went as far as going to fill up a Jerry can of diesel in her own car! Does service get any better! Amazing, we will be back, definitely!
