Simple,
basic,
informal
grill-restaurant
right
in
the
city
touristic
center.
Between
the
crude
fluorescent
lighting,
the
retro
diner
formica
furniture,
the
gangs
of
berzerk
feral
cats
roaming
in
the
outdoors
or
the
scent
of
overflowing
garbage
bins,
no
attempt
is
made
by
the
staff
or
management
to
try
to
please
the
customer
and
make
his
experience
enjoyable.
Even
the
paper
napkins
dispensers
look
like
something
that
belonged
to
the
70's...
The
basement's
restrooms
are
a
total
let
down
and
I
can
imagine
more
than
a
few
valiant
customers
raising
an
eyebrow
AND
pinching
their
nose
while
gaining
their
way
to
this
weird
and
wacky
anachronism
of
a
loo.
Use
at
your
own
peril.
Most
food
is
cooked
on
a
large
gas
barbeque;
kebabs,
sausages,
burgers,
steaks,
chicken,
liver,
hearts,
fish
whole
or
filetted
etc.
Good,
smooth
and
nutty
hummus.
There
is
generally
a
daily
special
on
offer
such
as
meatballs
in
tomato
sauce
or
gulash,
a
selection
of
stuffed
vegetable
and
chicken,
bean
or
gulash
soups
in
winter.
Spaghetti
with
a
sharp
bolonaise
sauce
is
also
on
the
menu.
More
than
decent
Tcholent/Dafina/Hamin
on
Shabbat.
Excellent
peppery
gefillte
fish
and
fish
quenelles
from
fresh
carp,
salted
marinated
herring
fillets
and
tasty
chicken
liver
pâté
are
available
only
during
the
holidays
and
festivals.
Side
dishes
are
previously-frozen-french-fries,
plain
white
rice,,
spaghetti,
mashed
potatoes
or
finely
chopped
tomato
and
cucumber
salad
with
onion,
minced
parsley
or
coriander
(cilantro)
dressed
with
olive
oil
and
lemon
juice.
There
is
generally
a
nice
selection
of
tasty
fish
grilled
or
fried,
whole
or
in
fillets
(tilapia,
grey
mulet,
sea
bream,
sea
bass),
some
fresh,
some
frozen
sourced
from
fishing
or
farming.
There
is
a
limited
choice
of
desserts;
chocolate
mousse,
bavarian
pudding
(a
chilled
vanilla
cream
pastry
topped
with
chocolate
syrup)
and
cold
seedless
watermelon
slices
in
season.
Nonchalant
and
indifferent
service.
Beer
on
tap.
For
meat
eaters
in
particular,
the
portions
are
quite
small,
each
skewer
having
what
I
consider
only
a
minuscule
amount
of
meat.
Depending
on
your
appetite
and
pocketbook,
try
to
take
this
into
account
when
you
pass
your
order.
Nothwithstanding
the
lack
of
any
decor
and
amenities,
this
is
not
a
cheap
budget
restaurant,
prices
are
relatively
high.
Not
Kosher
and
closed
from
Friday
late
afternoon
to
Saturday
noon.
