Having moved to Morris County a little under two years ago, I knew there was already much historical landmarks and nature trails. To my surprise, I walked down an unmarked path and came upon the former incline plane and this canal park. For a hidden park and upper trail path, I was happy to find this place that I will soon be exploring and visiting more. The incline plane has quite the history and the canal park offers information on this. I'm glad this is one of few not heavily populated areas.

Relatively new to the area and still look for easy hiking trails to take the pup. This little historic trek was nice and informative. Just be careful if you take a dog and go to the end because there is a lot of poison ivy on the sides of the tight trail.

Nice little park that is somewhat a work in progress as they repair the lock and canal area but still a nice flat place to walk with beautiful scenery and a few history boards to explain the canal's history. Recommend few a nice leisurely walk with the family although until they finish more work, be careful right after a heavy rain as the wetlands sometimes overflows.

A wonderfully beautiful spot for strolling along a flat towpath. A restored lock keeper's house is at one end by a lock. Ample parking. Fishing is allowed in the adjacent Rockaway River.

This is one of the best remnants of the fabulous Morris Canal that I know including a reconstructed canal lock and a stretch of canal. The canal was shut down in 1924 after almost 100 years of existence but remnants like this remain to remind us of this 19th century engineering marvel.

Nice level walk... tranquil area(as long as you tune out the distant sounds of Rt 80) We found the canal lock(educational signs along the way) and enjoyed the river on one side and canal on the other. Good place to look for birds and wildlife.

What a beautiful park to enjoy a nice long walk. Everything is serene and calming. Please pick up after your dog and throw away the bag in a trash can. I saw a lot of doggy bags all along the path. Otherwise the area is very clean!

Beautiful view. Trails are available for hiking. Path is good for walking dogs or with family members.
